The purpose of the article is to present the results of empirical research concerning solutions used in the strategy implementation process by companies recognized as effective in achieving their strategic goals. Based on the results of the research, a model of improving the strategy implementation process was proposed. In the theoretical part the method of analysis and critical review of the literature was used. The technique used in the empirical study was PAPI. In order to investigate relationships, Cramer’s V coefficient was calculated. The main findings of the study allow us to conclude that there are some specific solutions from the following areas: organisational structure, communication and motivation, cooperation, implementation tools and methods, and control, which particularly effectively support the strategy implementation.

Opis:
The search for the main determinant of business strategy of an organization does not have a clear solution. Intuitively, it seems that it should be a customer, but in practice of management, the primary criterion according to which the company management is assessed is the economic profit. The main purpose of this article is to identify the client’s place and the role in the management strategies of business organizations. The authors analyse this place and role, using historical perspective, particularly concentrating on resource based view, innovative strategy and networks strategy. The whole analysis is finished with the concept of organization ecosystem, in which a client is a central point.

Many documents produced by the EU, including the Europe 2020 Strategy, advocate the assumption that the European Union member states will strive to achieve sustainable development, which therefore needs to be measured with comparable parameters. The research objective was to evaluate sustainable growth indicators in Poland against the background of the same indicators in the European Union, and to ‘estimate’ chances to achieve the objectives set in the Europe 2020 Strategy. Two hypotheses were put forward in the study: a large number of indicators analysed by the Main Statistical Office in Poland allows forecasting the achievement of Poland’s objectives adopted in the Strategy; the most difficult to achieve will be the goal of financing research and development. In Poland, not all the changes were beneficial. The EU as a whole has the chance to approximate to the set value of the indicators. Both hypotheses were verified.
Wiele dokumentów opracowanych przez UE, w tym strategia „Europa 2020”, opowiada się za założeniem, że państwa członkowskie Unii Europejskiej będą dążyć do osiągnięcia zrównoważonego rozwoju, który w związku z tym należy mierzyć za pomocą porównywalnych parametrów. Celem badań była ocena wskaźników zrównoważonego wzrostu w Polsce na tle tych samych wskaźników w Unii Europejskiej oraz „oszacowanie” szans na osiągnięcie celów określonych w strategii „Europa 2020”. W badaniu wysunięto dwie hipotezy: duża liczba wskaźników analizowanych przez Główny Urząd Statystyczny w Polsce (GUS) pozwala prognozować realizację celów Polski przyjętych w strategii. Najtrudniejszy do osiągnięcia będzie cel finansowania badań i rozwoju. W Polsce nie wszystkie zmiany były korzystne. UE jako całość ma szansę zbliżyć się do ustalonej wartości wskaźników. Obie hipotezy zostały zweryfikowane.

During the time of sudden and unforeseen changes, a company may not assume a single strategy and indefinitely continue to pursue its objectives. The phenomenon of globalisation transforms the company environment, the company employees and the company itself. A question which must be asked is whether the individuals managing companies are aware that when they are making strategic decisions they are always following a certain perspective of strategy description. For that purpose, the author of this paper presents various approaches to strategy management – ranging from traditional to contemporary. Nonetheless, the overriding objective of this paper is the presentation of the author’s own method of identifying approaches to strategy in management or more broadly, in strategic management. The nature of the method is the allocation of points/scores to features which characterise a given company, and the subsequent assessment of these features by that company. Both values constitute a weighted value which in percentage terms depicts the approach structure to a strategy within the analysed entity. The research conducted (presented in the paper), despite the relatively limited number of subjects analysed, suggests to a certain extent that the method proposed may be used as a tool to classify a given entity in relation to the individual approaches to strategy.

The implementation of CRM strategy itself needs vast amount of effort from the whole company including both, workers and management. Especially the strategy needs the change of the way of thinking (in terms of the product) and taking into consideration clients position in every process in a company. Moreover, this concept requires full commitment of staff and management regardless the management level. The most important then are becoming trainings and the creation of the proper motivational system. Among outside factors one can number such as information access, kind of a client contact, the emotional notion towards a product or service, number of clients and value of transaction per unit. The biggest problem is caused by a kind of the client contact and information access which is attached to it. The influence of the rest of factors can be reduced for example by the usage of CRM system, promise model or such tools as contests, lotteries or loyalty contracts.

The article formulates the scientific research: consideration of the prospects for development of the renewable energy in the world and in the European Union; the analysis and the condition of the energy strategy of Ukraine and the two projects of a new document – Energy Strategy of Ukraine till 2035; and the exploration of the strategy development prospects of “green energy” in Ukraine. The aim of the research is to evaluate the prospects of the development of “green energy” in Ukraine by means of analysis and synthesis of the power strategies of the countries of the world, Europe, as well as Ukraine. Ukraine has committed itself to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, having signed Paris agreement on climate change on April 22, 2016. It has a direct impact on the development of energy sector and affects the strategy to expand the use of renewable energy.

Artykuł podejmuje problem definiowania strategii relacyjnej. W celu opracowania wymiarów konstruktu strategii relacyjnej dokonano przeglądu literatury dla skonfigurowania pytań otwartych, zadanych celowo dobranej grupie 20 ekspertów. Analiza semantyczna i logiczna uzyskanych odpowiedzi pozwala sformułować tezę o istnieniu odrębnego typu strategii, tj. strategii relacyjnej. Eksperci w przeważającej mierze wskazują, że strategie relacyjne można opisywać w oparciu o cechy relacji międzyorganizacyjnych, instrumentalnych w osiąganiu celów strategicznych. Wyróżniają je cztery cechy: różnorodność, trwałość, oryginalność oraz stopień sformalizowania.
This study aims at providing an operational definition of the relational strategy construct. Based on a literature review a theoretically framed open-questions survey was administered to 20 purposefully selected experts. Content and logical analysis support the view that relational strategies are a separate type among the set of available strategies. Experts vastly support the view that relational strategies can be described through the strategic attributes of interorganizational relationships, seen here as instrumental in achieving strategic goals. Four dimensions seem to be distinctive: heterogeneity, durability, originality and formalization.

For the development of developer enterprises it is essential to have properly formulated development strategies, including a mission, objectives, their methods of implementation and control. Empirical research was conducted among 37 Wroclaw developers. Methods that have been used are: an individual in-depth interview, a telephone interview and a direct observation. It was found that large development companies, with a complex organizational structure, more often formulate a mission than small entities with limited scale of operations. In addition, the market activities of Wroclaw developers, were mostly spontaneous, not showing deliberate and systematic behavior. The observation of the behavior of developers shows that only part of the companies planning new investments, carefully analyzes the market and buyers’ preferences, adapting their offer to the current situation on the market, while other companies base it on intuition or duplicate previous, proven implementations.

The prior research has emphasized the importance of either individuals to organizational performance or of managerial cognition to strategic change and action and provided support for the salient role of managerial cognition in developing managerial capabilities and behaviour. Nevertheless, given that managerial perceptions may vary across industry contexts and that high and low velocity industry pose different cognitive challenges to managers, there is no prior research investigating the associations between managerial cognitive and adaptive capabilities, the individual propensity to adapt, and organizational adaptive performance in a high velocity industry, only some research has explored how individual characteristics affect the ability to develop adaptive capabilities. Hence the aim of the paper is to present a theoretical and methodological proposition exploiting a cognitive approach and a microfoundations perspective in strategic management, aiming to examine the interdependencies between managerial cognitive capabilities ,adaptive capabilities, and organizational adaptive performance as well as explore the moderators and/or mediators of that relationship. The method used is the literature review. The main findings constitute the propositions resulting from a developed conceptual framework.

One of criteria for differentiating small-sized enterprises is the fact of belonging or not to a business group. It seems to be quite important for research in this size businesses. The paper presents the results of the study on the implementation of a strategy and the strategy formulation process in small-sized enterprises. The results showed quite significant differences depending on whether or not the enterprises were subsidiaries of a business group. These differences may become a starting point for a discussion on the importance of this feature in management science.

In the paper the measures of the social network analysis were discussed in terms of their relevance to describe an interlocking directorates’ strategy with the suggestion of closeness and eigenvalue as best suited. The statistical analyses were presented. The analysis of the aforementioned measures’ statistical properties and their links with board size and degree revealed that it is hard to optimize them simultaneously by simply increasing a value of degree. As closeness is rather linearly linked to degree, insomuch as increasing eigenvalue, as latter requires the analysis of the network structure in order to optimize benefits to costs ratio.

East Asia is undoubtedly the region of unprecedented scale of dynamism of events, both in the economic and political terms. Growing economic power of China is nowadays a serious threat to the traditional regional diplomatic leadership of Japan, which has internal problems. Mutual distrust boosted by historical resentment contributed to the constitution of competing visions of East Asian regionalism, drawing, on the one hand, on the realm of values as the foundation of a common identity, and solidarity, on the other, on different concepts of membership of the Southeast, and South Asian countries, including the representatives of Oceania. Promoted through the path of soft diplomacy, Japanese vision of a broad community, involving, in addition to ASEAN, democratic countries of the South and Oceania, built on the foundation of universal values of the Western world, provided a natural counterbalance to the narrower, more conservative, strictly Asian concept of China. The involvement of the core of ASEAN, namely Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, together with Canada, Mexico, Chile and Peru in the Trans-Pacific Partnership, is confronted with Chinese counter-proposal in the form of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which indicates that the soft strategy game has gone up to a higher level. The coming years will resolve the dilemma which vision of economic regionalism is more attractive and vital. The expected breakthroughs include, in particular, the conclusion of a trilateral China–Japan–the Republic of Korea free trade agreement, the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community, the intensification of discussions around the RCEP project, and finally – the evolution of ambivalent, so far, Chinese stance towards TPP project. In the case of the latter, it is critical to observe the dialogue between China and ASEAN at the sectoral level, initiated in 2011, implementation of the Foreign Investment Protection Agreement concluded with Canada in 2012, and finally − negotiations on the free trade agreement with Australia. Undoubtedly, narrow Asian formula of regionalism in East Asia has lost its importance in the face of both intraand extra-regional challenges.

In formulated long-term strategy “Europe 2020” attention is focussed on problems in the sphere of employment. Therefore one of the objectives of the strategy is to reach the employment rate on the level of 75% for women and men aged 20 to 64 by 2020. In National Reform Programs; individual EU member states adjusted their employment objectives to local needs while considering situations on their labour markets and practical probability of changes. Due to differences in social and economic situation in EU-28; and consequences of economic crisis particularly noticeable in individual countries; these objectives are diversified. Achieving the high level of this indicator does not reflect the full situation on the labour market because of rising unemployment and underemployment. Underemployment in the form of over-education; under-qualification or involuntary part-time jobs refers to a growing number of social group; particularly women and young people. The questions that naturally arise from these considerations apply not only to the employment rates; but also to the scale of labour underutilisation; the consequences of this phenomenon for the economy; society; both on micro and macro level. The main research questions are: “What is the scale and dynamics of employment and underemployment in the European Union?”; “How big are disparities across UE?”; “Is there a relationship between high employment and low underemployment?”; “What are the chances to achieve employment objectives in 2020?” Considering the aforementioned conditions; the goal of the paper is to present a diversity in employment and underemployment rate in EU-28 between 2008 and 2014 and to assess a potential probability of achievement of employment objectives by individual member states in the perspective of 2020. The execution of the goal formulated in this way imposed the structure of the paper that includes: 1) definition of underemployment; 2) review of employment objective in “Europe 2020” strategy; 3) analysis of the changes of employment and underemployment in EU-28 between 2000 and 2014; 4) presentation of employment objectives formulated in National Reform programs; and the assessment of their implementation.

Cities implement the path of adjustments to the changing global economy which does not destabilize their economy, but expands opportunities for development. Changes in the concept of a city concern all zones of its functioning: internal structure, sources of income, development model, competitiveness and contact with the environment. Selecting the concept for development is not easy and it depends on numerous conditions. However, some priorities and development assumptions are common to all approaches. Cities in a long-term perspective are supposed to aim at: efficient and multilevel management, smart city, compactness, openness, responsiveness to the needs and ensuring high quality of life to all groups of users. Under conditions of significant changeability of the modern economy the determination of a long-term concept for a city should be related to the maintenance of flexibility and process operations, and not only a point response to a given situation.

One of the key challenges of present agriculture and rural areas is the pursuit of sustainable development. Encompassing enormous resources of a natural nature, rural areas should develop in accordance with the principles of sustainable development so that both current and future generations can benefit of them. Implementing the concept of sustainable development in rural areas is conditional on many factors and requires corrective activities, which is connected with the intervention of the state. The paper analyzes programs and instruments to support agricultural development and rural development in line with the concept of sustainable development at national and local level. Particular attention has been paid to “the Strategy of Lower Silesia Voivodship” and “Strategy for sustainable development of rural, agricultural and fisheries for 2012-2020”.
