Opis:
The article attempts to analyse the notions of school culture and school climate as well as their definitions, scopes and the applied research approaches. Although such activities have been undertaken and presented both in English and German literature, they have failed to constitute a separate field of analysis in Poland and as such, have been merely addressed on the margins of other problems. In this article, the author points out the positions of researchers who have identified the need to clarify the separate identity of the notions and for this purpose, to adopt appropriate research approaches, often leading, as the author attempts to illustrate, to diverse conclusions.

This paper is focused on peer review used by schools as a potential means of support for mutual learning and the development of staff professionalism. It is based on empirical material obtained from The Road to Quality Improvement1, a Czech national project designed to support self-evaluation in schools. Data from 32 schools were collected by questionnaire surveys, interviews, focus groups and document analysis. Main findings are as follows: (1) a prerequisite for successful peer review is previous experience of evaluation activities and work with data; (2) peer review develops participants’ sensitivity in terms of the need for the development of evaluation skills; (3) evaluation activities and work with data develop participants’ professionalism and their potential to contribute to school development.

Career development can be discussed in two primary ways: 1) as a type of formal education and job preparation that a person receives; and 2) as a type of informal learning-related career experiences that a person encounters. This study investigates the effect of learning preparedness on female school administrators’ career development. For the data analysis, this study uses the Structural Equation Modeling statistics. The findings from the analysis support the view that tacit learning from both direct and indirect job experiences has a greater effect on women’s career development than formal learning. The effect of these factors, however, varies according to women’s aspirations for superintendency.

A positive perspective in social sciences is one of the key directions in contemporary youth studies and an important point of reflection on education. In recent decades, the Positive Youth Development concept (PYD) has been a particularly clear and significant perspective for studying adolescence on a global scale. This perspective is crucial for many theoretical assumptions and educational projects. The aim of this article is to analyse the concepts and theories (directly and indirectly) related to this concept in youth studies. In this paper, significant changes in the reflection on adolescence have been analysed, which turned the vision of a developmental stage full of tensions and conflicts into a period of great opportunities for the personal development and also gave new meaning to youth’s good life. The PYD key concepts and theories plus practical education have been presented. Additionally, critical remarks on positive concepts in youth studies have been analysed.

Opis:
The effectiveness of the aesthetic development of high school students in the conditions of a children’s music school directly depends on the application of a certain range of pedagogical principles in the educational process. It was found that pedagogical principles are important guidelines that reflect the general patterns of the process of education and upbringing, determine the requirements for their content, organization and educational methods. They represent a generalized system of requirements that covers all aspects of this process and reflects its results. The article examines the leading principles that are the basis of the process of aesthetic development of high school students in the conditions of a children’s music school: the principle of problematic reflects the consequences of logical and cognitive contradictions as the basis of an educational problem and the driving force of learning, determines the interaction between learning and teaching, the creation of problem situations, the setting and solving the problems; the principle of trust in the subject of education is based on the principles of «humane pedagogy», which ensures the organization of the educational process on the basis of a personal approach to the student, with the approval of him as an active, conscious, equal participant in the educational process, in which he develops on a humane basis personality; when organizing the principle of independent action, it is taken into account that the independent activity of students consists not only in the ability to organize their own mental activity (in which they receive new knowledge), but also in the ability to organize their own behavior, which is connected with the effective organization of their own mental activity; the principle of creativity involves the creation of optimal conditions for realizing the personal potential of schoolchildren; the principle of holistic perception of a musical work helps students understand the essence of each work, find the basic principles of its construction in the musical fabric, and perceive the content of the musical text as a highly organized whole; the principle of dialogue takes into account the following types of dialogic interactions: «author – performer», «teacher (performer) – student (performer)», «listener – performer». It was found that the pedagogical conditions for the aesthetic development of high school students in the conditions of a children’s music school are the subject-developmental environment, which we consider as a dialectical unity of spatial-subject and social components, closely related and mutually conditioned among themselves, where each subject of the educational process carries out its activity, which contributes to cultural identification, the development of aesthetic consciousness and aesthetic sensitivity, and the development of aesthetic activity. The introduction of person-oriented technology into the educational and educational process of a children’s music school is a process of psychological and pedagogical assistance to the child in the formation of his subjectivity, cultural identification, aesthetic consciousness, development of aesthetic sensitivity, development of aesthetic activity.

The research focused on educational experience of school educators in the process of supporting gifted students.

The paper presents the theoretical hypotheses and research results conducted with the use of Transition from Education to Work Scale. Basing on the analysis of particular theories regarding the transition from education to work as well as selfdevelopment theory it has been noted that assumption of employment by graduates does not solely depend on labor market condition and their academic achievements but also on the level of identity development and appropriate assessment of one’s own skills and abilities. From the assumed perspective the transition from education to work is a long lasting and complex developmental task where accurate and thorough self assessment skills and readiness to achieve compromises between expectations and possibilities related to career development are of crucial importance.

The article presents the results of a comprehensive study (N = 497) among Slovene primary school teachers with the aim of examining practical work in Primary Science courses (age 9-11). The study examined the attitude towards practical work and obstacles. The aim was also to find out whether the level of socio-economic development impacts on attitudes and obstacles. The main obstacles to the implementation of practical work at class level are: lack of material support, oversized classes, poor spatial conditions and a need for assistants. Surprising results followed an analysis of differences in the development of the environment: primary school teachers from less developed regions show a more positive attitude towards practical work compared to those from more developed regions. In addition, obstacles are perceived similarly regardless of the socio-economic situation.

Opis:
Primary School No. 83 Emilia Waśniowska in Poznań is known in Poland as “Łejery”. It is a unique institution in the country because, although it is a “systemic” school, it implements its educational programme through art, is based on selected assumptions of non-directive pedagogy, and the main educational means at the school is broadly understood theatre. The subject of the author’s study is to present the theatre operating at Primary School No. 83. “Łejery” in Poznań as a means of comprehensive education for children and young adolescents. The author, based on sources (websites, sources evoked – interviews with Jerzy Hamerski) and observations made from September 1 to December 22, 2023, as well as the literature on the subject, considers education at Primary School No. 83 in Poznań, presents the figure the founder of the Poznań “Łejery”, and analyses the ways of using theatre in the education process of children and youth attending the described school.

The article focuses on the musical interactions of parents with children based on elements of E.E. Gordon’s music learning theory which intensify their musical development in different periods of their life. The individual case method and the interview technique were used in the research. The description of the results was generalised and synthesised by analysing interviews with nine family members. The research showed that almost all parents included intentional and varied activities to support their children’s musical development in the prenatal period. They also undertook them at later stages of their lives. These activities often focused on presenting diverse music in terms of style, dynamics, pace, tonality and meter, moving to it, singing for a child and with a child, and performing tonal and rhythmic patterns. It resulted in a wide variety of musical behaviours in the children, conditioned by their age and stage of musical development. It proves that early musical support is an important foundation for the proper course of this process and further musical education.

Opis:
The article presents the look into Montessori schools whose aim is to provide care, development, upbringing and teaching of children from 8 weeks to 18 years old in correspondence with Maria Montessori’s theory and philosophy of education. In modern pedagogical literature there is no single distinct classification of Montessori schools though in Western European countries and the USA Montessori educational establishments are distinguished by the curriculum they use and the age of children studying there. Thus, there has been made an attempt to generalize and summarize their distinctive features and make up an age-curriculum Motnessori schools classification which includes: 1) infant schools, whose curriculum focuses on the holistic development of children from 8 weeks to 18 months old, 2) toddler schools aiming at sensory development of 18 to 36-month-old kids and their acquisition of practical life, language, Math and writing readiness skills, 3) primary schools for 3-to-6- year-olds with the curriculum in correspondence with all areas of formal curriculum, 4) elementary schools (6–11 y.o.) with multi-age school curriculum which contributes to social dynamics and facilitates pupils favorable inclusion in collective learning peculiar of this age group, develops their academic interest and curiosity and based on intellectual exercises supports their easy and natural transition to abstract thinking, 5) middle schools whose curriculum is specially composed to develop 11–14 years old children academically, socially and emotionally. More detailed attention is paid to the creation of learning environment in the early childhood and primary educational establishments. It is stated that the main aim of the created learning environment is to sustain and strengthen the child’s feeling of independence and form their motivation to seek knowledge. Having analyzed the work of modern foreign Montessori schools, it’s for the first time that three kinds of the learning environment have been distinguished among them school area developmental learning environment, in-school and classroom learning environments. As it has been found out, learning environment in modern Montessori schools is based on the initial rules of formation the “prepared” environment by Maria Montessori. It can be conditionally divided into zones which correspond with the chapters of curriculum for each age group taking into account children sensory development stage. These zones include a practical life zone, a zone of sensory development, a speech learning zone, a Math zone and a cosmic or culture zone. In each of them learning materials are easy to reach and ordered from the simplest to more complex so that the children could pick up the ones which satisfy their current needs.

Opis:
Contemporary neoliberal reality with clear and unambiguous rules of actions imposes tough social inter-dependences and obligations. At the same time, commonly present mainstream tendency to weaken interpersonal relations, to doubt in senses and meanings, and to accept each behaviour without the possibility to formulate personal attitude towards it, has led to total mess in human life. An unbalanced man hardly manages to exist in all devastated dimensions of his world: social, cultural, environmental and economical. The need to turn back and to reach the sustainable level of life becomes more and more clear. The route to sustainability needs ambitious, common and responsible education. The Decade of Education for Sustainable Development was the first global project. Now we should undertake activities presented in Global Action Plan. To make that immense plan become real we need properly and thoroughly prepared school teachers and academics. Pre-service and in-service teacher development becomes a global issue. Contemporary vocational obligations and expectations formulated towards that group of professionals considerably inhibit the process of change. That is why, the diagnosis of global pedeutological problems and tendencies is one of the most important steps for preparing a better plan to work with Polish teachers. The paper presents possible ways to work with students – future teachers – to develop sustainable awareness and attitudes, derived from proper knowledge and skills. Project X is one of the most interesting and inspiring educational tools. Basing on Polish primary and secondary curriculum, students of the University of Lodz learn how to think in sustainable manner, and how to join knowledge and skills from various schools subjects to build a holistic educational message.
Współczesna neoliberalna rzeczywistość o jednoznacznych regułach zachowań narzuca twardą grę społeczną. Jednocześnie powszechnie panujący mainstreamowy „nakaz” domagający się rozmywania międzyludzkich relacji, podważania znaczeń i aprobaty wszelkich postaw bez możliwości ich oceny, doprowadził do całkowitego rozchwiania człowieka i jego świata w wymiarze społecznym, kulturowym, przyrodniczym i polityczno-gospodarczym. Potrzeba powrotu do równowagi staje się coraz bardziej czytelna. Droga do życia zrównoważonego wymaga dobrze, powszechnie i odpowiedzialnie prowadzonej edukacji. W artykule ukazano możliwe do zastosowania (wykorzystując obecną podstawę programową do szkół podstawowych i średnich) sposoby rozbudzania świadomości i wprowadzania młodych ludzi w zagadnienia zrównoważonego rozwoju.
