Opis:
The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted governments to take radical measures to contain the virus and protect their citizens. These included successive restrictions on social distance, which have led to closing many enterprises in various industries and dismissing their employees. Introducing restrictions has significantly weakened many countries’ economies. Stock markets have noted sharp declines. Therefore, public protection has led to severe consequences for the labour market. Attempts at defining them have been undertaken in the body of literature. However, they focus mainly on analysing selected indicators. According to the authors, it is worth analysing the correlation between the number of deaths as the variable that best reflects the disease’s severity and selected unemployment rates. It was assumed that the number of deaths is a factor significantly distinguishing the periods before and after the pandemic. Therefore, it is possible to assess the correlation between the pandemic and the labour market condition.

In the face of the new global economic challenges that the whole world is facing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a need to give attention to the crucial role of higher education, which has a significant impact on shaping all the nation’s future as it paves the road for a way out while partaking in rebuilding economic infrastructure and leading the economy to a brighter future. This research paper explains how the theory of effectuation complements the theories of entrepreneurship. It demonstrates how using the appropriate style of entrepreneurial leadership in higher education renders an eminent role in recovery during and post- COVID-19 by creating momentum for innovative change to combat the current economic challenges. The research paper provides a blueprint of the steps required via transformation leadership style to breed adequate culture and lead a healthy professional learning community through adopting and applying the Entrepreneurial University Model.

Aim: To study the in/direct relationship between fear of COVID-19 contraction and academic stress during the first wave of the pandemic. Method: The sample consisted of 835 university students (597 female students, 71.5%, M = 22.71 years of age, SD = 3.69). Data were gathered online by the questionnaire of the international study The COVID-19 International Student Well-being Study (C19 ISWS). Results: An above-average level of academic stress and a below-average gender-related level of fear of contracting the virus were found. The relationship between fear of contracting the virus and academic stress was serially mediated by loneliness and depressive symptoms. Conclusion: The findings stress the importance of monitoring the level of fear of virus contraction and the student-perceived perspective of academic achievement during actions taken by academic authorities to support the quality of teaching and students’ mental health.

Objective: The study aims to determine whether educationally active women present signs of transformative learning in their own experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The focus of the study is the relationship between experiencing transformative learning in a pandemic and the sense of loneliness, received social support, sense of life satisfaction and age. Methods: The study was conducted among 258 educationally active women – part-time students, as well as students of the Universities of the Third Age. Age of the surveyed women: from 19 to 87 years. Data were collected using the online test method. A statistical significance of differences was tested with the U Mann-Whitney test and the two proportion z-test. Results: Most of the surveyed women manifested elements of transformative learning in their experience of the pandemic. Those scoring high on the Transformative Learning in a Pandemic Situation scale have had their life satisfaction decrease to a greater extent than those scoring low. The group scoring high on the Transformative Learning in a Pandemic Situation scale is characterised by a higher sense of loneliness. No relationship was found between perceived manifestations of transformative learning and age, social support, place of residence and education. Discussion: The transformative potential of learning can be seen in a pandemic situation. The obtained data provide arguments supporting the supposition that the feeling of loneliness, influencing the lowering of satisfaction from life, is a factor triggering learning and leading to the change of habits of thinking and acting of educationally active women.

The main goal of the text is to collect conclusions from the experiences of educators and researchers with regard to various aspects of distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusions were collected on the basis of the author’s own experience and the selected source literature. The article consists of two parts: “Conclusions from Polish literature” and “Conclusions from foreign literature”. As the article presents mainly the Polish perspective, the first part is significantly longer than the second one. Part One deals with such issues as: the model of distance learning, the time of pandemic as a crisis situation, priorities in distance education in conditions of isolation, the issue of isolation, and some principles of assessment, among others. The university e-learning platform was also discussed as an example. Part Two addresses such issues as: seven lessons from the pandemic, effectiveness of online testing, psychological aspects regarding a student and a teacher, and augmented reality in distance education during COVID-19.

This study explored the links between health and well-being to the grit of DepEd Regional Office IX employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 75 employees participated in this descriptive correlational research through an online and offline self-report questionnaire. The data analysis utilized multiple linear regression to determine grit’s predictors from the mental health continuum of emotional, psychological, and social well-being. The study showed that health and well-being factors positively correlated with employees’ grit. Moreover, the results revealed that the employees’ psychological and social well-being were significant predictors of grit while emotional well-being did not significantly predict employees’ grit. These research outcomes affirm that if the workers are psychologically and socially healthy, they tend to perform better. These outcomes suggest that workplace measures should be in place to promote workers’ health and well-being for them to fulfill their job effectively and efficiently.

Opis:
The COVID-19 pandemic occurred in Poland during the campaign before the presidential election scheduled for May 10. This non-military threat changed the election campaign’s dynamics, leading to an unprecedented failure to hold elections and postponing them. Around the changes in the election procedure, many constitutionalists and political scientists voiced their inconsistency with the law and the provisions of the Constitutional Tribunal. Both the proposed provisions and the manner of their organization raised objections. The article classifies these changes as manifestations of democratic backsliding, weakening democratic institutions and leading to a decline in the quality of democracy. The research goal is to analyze the records in the selected source material and relate them to the selected theoretical category (democratic backsliding). In the course of the research, the following hypothesis is verified: in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic in Poland, attempts by the ruling elite to change the provisions related to organizing the presidential elections scheduled for May 10 are an example of democratic backsliding, which, by weakening democratic institutions, has threatened the constitutional provisions and the essence of the democratic system.
