    Civic culture can be understood as the orientation of citizens in public matters and broad social participation.Trust and cooperation as well as communication skills are also included in the components of this culture. In the conditions of social changes related to postmodernism, mainly such as: the appreciation of diversity, the growing importance of the media, the increase in the role of consumption, problems with identity, there is a need to redefine civic culture and its constitutive elements. This has significant implications for contemporary civic education.

    The situation of the elderly and ill in the contemporary postmodern society constitutes a serious challenge for contemporary societies as well as for pastoral work of the Church. Reflections of Pope Francis describing the fate of the elderly and ill in the contemporary reality are to be found in the above article. The issue has been discussed in the following subsections: “Competences of the postmodern society towards the elderly and ill” (chapter I); “The significance of the Christian community for the life of the elderly and ill” (chapter II); “The objectives of the pastoral conversation” (chapter III).

    The subject of analyses are issues of research undertaken in scientific publications by Zbyszko Melosik from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the content of which is of key significance to reforms in paedagogical sciences after the year 1989 in Poland, as well as to the understanding of international and domestic value of the cooperation of this scientist with academic circles. It is also an example of the establishment and evolution of the Poznań research school in culture, comparative and general paedagogy. They indicate a clear union between the conditions of socioculturaland education studies in light of the assumptions of post-modernism and critical paedagogy and the richness of sources by this author, connecting Polish paedagogical thought with the world discourse on socialisation and broadly understood education.

    Inspired by the feminist thoughts of Rosi Braidotti and Donna Haraway, the author of this article endeavours to depict the emerging concept of gender neutrality that has developed in Sweden in recent years. The author uses an interpretative paradigm with a variety of qualitative field research tools, to gain a deeper understanding of how gender neutrality works in practice at school and nursery level in Sweden. The study took place in Stockholm in September 2014 with the author living in situ. The case study involved the use of: field notes and observations, interviews with university scholars, heads of schools and nurseries and open-ended questionnaires with teachers, carers and students. The analysis of written resources included the school and nursery national curriculum, press discourse and scientific publications on the subject matter. The author of the article argues that gender neutrality may be perceived as a concept originating from post-humanism, therefore it should be examined within the post-human socio-pedagogical reflection and embedded in norm critical discourse.
