    Opis:
    Teaching a foreign language to young learners requires of the teacher a special ability to involve them in a variety of activities explicitly accommodating their need for whole-person enjoyment and implicitly fostering their L2 knowledge. This complex pedagogic task is likely to be achieved with reliance on the multi-sensory approach which is recommended by the European Co-operation Programs as an alternative L2 teaching trend encompassing universal, proactive qualities and educational diversity. Consequently, the following paper highlights the multisensoiy approach as the driving force of the lexically oriented syllabus designed by the author for young children learning English as a foreign language. The said syllabus design is presented through the empirical filter of knowledge claims and value judgements about its efficiency.

    The aim of the article is to present the subjective perspective of a person with congenital low vision who experienced gradual vision deterioration up to total loss. The case study method was used, in which the narrative biographic interview was the main technique of collecting data. In the analysed narratives, certain milestones were identified in the process of coping with the consequences of progressive impairment. Those were the situations when the subject was no longer able to perform a specific task, which she had earlier performed under visual control. They made the subject realise the progressive nature of the disease and inevitably confronted her with the acquisition of permanent severe impairment. Those situations caused temporary disruption of her psychological balance and increased her demand for emotional support. With time, however, they also motivated the subject to use previously rejected rehabilitation devices and techniques. Lack of knowledge of functional implications of eye conditions (including reduced acuity and contrast sensitivity, field defects, light/dark adaptation problems, etc.) among family members and other people hindered the process of providing optimal instrumental support to the subject.

    Opis:
    A defining goal of research in AI and robotics is to build technical artefacts as substitutes, assistants or enhancements of human action and decision-making. But both in reflection on these technologies and in interaction with the respective technical artefacts, we sometimes encounter certain kinds of human likenesses. To clarify their significance, three aspects are highlighted. First, I will broadly investigate some relations between humans and artificial agents by recalling certain points from the debates on Strong AI, on Turing’s Test, on the concept of autonomy and on anthropomorphism in human-machine interaction. Second, I will argue for the claim that there are no serious ethical issues involved in the theoretical aspects of technological human likeness. Third, I will suggest that although human likeness may not be ethically significant on the philosophical and conceptual levels, strategies to use anthropomorphism in the technological design of human-machine collaborations are ethically significant, because artificial agents are specifically designed to be treated in ways we usually treat humans.

It emphasises the importance of dismantling hegemonic control and fostering equitable energy transformation, calling for civic courage to challenge existing power structures. This work’s originality lies in integrating critical theory within sociology, offering insights into the socio-political dynamics influencing global decarbonisation efforts. Its value resides in a comprehensive analysis, unveiling interconnections between power, economics, and the environment in the context of energy transformation.

    Revolutions in the Arab world sparked strong worldwide interest, mainly due to the ease with which long-reigning dictators were renouncing their power (except Syria). However, the shift of power has not made those who led to the overthrow of the tyrants any better off. As the price of freedom seems incalculable, it is difficult to assess unequivocally all the costs of the so-called Arab revolutions: the number of people killed and displaced, changes to the sizes of economies and standards of living, the impact on the immediate neighbors and on the situation in the region. Approximately 50,000 people died in total in the four most violent uprisings in Libya, Egypt, Yemen and Syria (where the uprising continues). In the 2012 edition of the annual Failed States Index issued by Foreign Policy, it was Libya and Syria where the most notable drops were observed (ranking 50th and 23rd respectively) with Yemen „moving up the scale” and being rated 8th in the world. One of the main issues touched upon in the Failed States Index 2012 was the Arab Spring in particular, but the picture painted by its authors turned out to be quite pessimistic and its title: Was the Arab Spring Worth It? does not leave much room for misinterpretation.
    Rewolucje w świecie arabskim wzbudzały ogromne zainteresowanie na całym świecie, głównie z powodu łatwości, z jaką panujący od lat dyktatorzy oddawali władzę (za wyjątkiem Syrii). Jednak zmiana władzy nie oznaczała faktycznej poprawy bytu ludzi, którzy doprowadzili do upadku tyranów. Cena wolności wydaje się być niepoliczalna, trudno więc jednoznacznie oszacować wszystkie koszty tzw. arabskich rewolucji: liczbę zabitych i wysiedlonych, zmiany wielkości gospodarek i poziomu życia, wpływ na najbliższych sąsiadów i sytuację w regionie. Jednym z głównych tematów Failed States Index 2012 była właśnie Arabska Wiosna, jednak obraz jaki przedstawiają autorzy jest pesymistyczny, a tytuł Was the Arab Spring Worth It?, mówi sam za siebie.

    In the article I describe the cosmic context of biological evolution and its concretization in the form of various formulations of anthropic principles (weak, strong, probabilistic, ultimate and participatory) in order to discuss selected philosophical and theological consequences of the anthropic of the Universe. The aim of the article is to answer the question whether the fact of the anthropic nature of the Universe leads to the possibility of justifying theses of an ontological, epistemological and theological nature.

    The paper focuses on synthetic and comprehensive presentation of the implications of the increasing international role of Germany for cooperation between Poland and Russia, in times of globalization and EU’s crises. The first part of the paper showcases the theoretical and practical aspects of the concept formation of Germany’s new international role, the so-called design concept (Gestaltungskonzept) of the foreign and security policies. The second part provides an overall assessment of Germany’s role in the attempts to resolve chosen EU’s crises – the European debt crisis of 2010, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict of 2014 as well as the large influx of illegal immigrants to the EU ever since the turn of August and September 2015. The third part concentrates on the analysis of the implications of the new role in the international arena assumed by Germany for the Polish and Russian cooperation. The conclusion of the paper is following: the growing international role of Germany in the second decade of the 21st century has had both positive and negative impact on the cooperation between Poland and Russia.
    Artykuł koncentruje się w ujęciu syntetycznym oraz problemowym na ukazaniu implikacji wzrostu międzynarodowej roli Niemiec dla współpracy z Rosją i Polską w dobie globalizacji oraz kryzysów UE. W pierwszej części przedstawia teoretyczne i praktyczne aspekty kształtowania koncepcji nowej roli międzynarodowej Niemiec, tzw. koncepcji współkształtowania (Gestaltungskonzept) polityki zagranicznej i bezpieczeństwa. Druga część podejmuje ogólną ocenę roli Niemiec w próbach rozwiązywania wybranych kryzysów UE – zadłużenia strefy euro od 2010 r., konfliktu rosyjsko-ukraińskioego od 2014 r. oraz masowego napływu nielegalnych migrantów do UE od przełomu sierpnia/września 2015 r. Trzecia część koncentruje się na analizie implikacji nowej roli międzynarodowej Niemiec dla współpracy z Rosją i Polską. Konkluzja artykułu brzmi – wzrost roli międzynarodowej Niemiec od początku od drugiej dekady XXI w. miał pozytywne i negatywne następstwa dla współpracy Niemiec z Rosją i Polską.

    Społeczne skutki pornografii są rzadko przedmiotem badania. Praca o psychicznych i społecznych skutkach pornografii stanowi syntezę konsekwencji emocjonalnych z ich przełożeniem na skutki społeczne. Połączenie tych płaszczyzn pokazuje rzeczywiste zagrożenie, jakie niesie za sobą masowa konsumpcja pornografii w dzisiejszych czasach. W pracy dokonano przeglądu prac naukowych z ostatnich lat, jakie ukazały się w literaturze. Wykazano też, jak niewiele tych informacji funkcjonuje w świadomości powszechnej. Stanowi to swoiste ostrzeżenie dla współczesnego człowieka. 
    There are not many studies concerning the social implications of pornography. This paper shows how variuos implications of pronography are linked to each other; how its emotional consequences contribute to its social consequences. This aspect of pornography is commonly ingnored which makes it particularly dangerous. The paper also reviews what was recently written about pronography from this point of view. Thus it may be a form of an alert for the man who lives in the present western society.

    Russia’s continuing aggression against Ukraine is exceptional both in terms of its scale and its global implications. A peaceful and prosperous future for Ukraine, neighbouring states and indeed the entire continent, depends upon two interrelated factors. The first is Ukraine’s ability to win, with Western support, the war initiated against it by the Russian Federation under Putin. This would bring about a new global opening, ending the Moscow-Beijing anti-Western axis in world politics. The second factor is Ukraine’s ability to take advantage of the constitutional moment that will present itself as attention shifts from the military effort toward the process of state reconstruction. Presenting the situation of Ukraine in regional, historical, and global context, we draw attention to specific challenges and choices that state elites will face post-war. We explain the internal and external implications of these choices to show why Ukraine should seize its upcoming constitutional moment. Drawing on both political theory and real world examples of constitutional revolutions, we explain the factors involved in the effective exploitation of the constitutional moment. We suggest that, channelled to constructive purposes, the demands and aspirations of Ukrainian citizens may help propel the political and economic reforms needed to secure social trust and a stable future. We conclude that multi-level political and civic engagement in a new constitutional process will be indispensable for reconstructing the institutional foundations for peace, democratic governance and the rule of law in post-conflict Ukraine.
