The problem discussed in the article refers to a wider context of the empirical research realized within the doctoral dissertation. The research aims at proving the influence of the educational evaluation of the intercultural competence on the development of personal communicative competence of the first year students of French in the College of Foreign Language at the University of Adam Mickiewicz. The evaluation of the competence was conducted in the institutional conditions with the use of traditional media materials in French and Polish. The article introduces the concept of the educational evaluation of intercultural competence. The author also presents the results of the empirical research from its initial phase. The main focus is on the issue of students' metacognitive readiness to perform this type of evaluation. The article aims to show that the positive role of the educational evaluation of intercultural competence in developing personal communicative competence of learners depends to a large extent on the level of metacognitive awareness they managed to reach.

Modern business is connected with the Internet, and—on the background of the prototypic corporate Web sites—the pages of doctors’ offices constitute a separate category as the advertising of medical services in Poland is regulated by law. Because of that, doctors—being the owners of private surgeries—are confronted with significant limitations in this area. According to the Act of the Supreme Medical Council (Pol. Naczelna Rada Lekarska) of December 16, 2011 doctors are not allowed to advertise the health services they provide. It is permitted to publish only the information including, among others, the professional title, specialization, the name and surname, days and hours of admission, with the reservation that such information may not possess the attributes of an advertisement. Practically, it is very hard to discern the difference between information and advertisement. The survey of the Web sites of dental offices indicates the presence of communicative elements fulfilling the persuasive function. More careful reading allows one to notice also the evaluating lexis. The compiled research material allows the author to suggest a hypothesis that the studied texts represent persuasive acts of speech.

Wywiad dotyczy początków ewaluacji „wpływu społecznego”1 w Wielkiej Brytanii, jej konsekwencji dla kultury akademickiej, a także możliwości wprowadzenia podobnego systemu oceny w Polsce. David Sweeney przekonuje, że o ile Impact Agenda stanowi odpowiedź na wiele wyzwań brytyjskiej nauki, o tyle nie można przenieść tego systemu bezpośrednio na inny grunt. System ewaluacji w każdym kraju powinien być dostosowany do lokalnej kultury akademickiej i celów stawianych przed naukowcami.
The interview explores the challenges related to the introduction of the Impact Agenda, its consequences for academic culture as well as the possibility of putting in place a similar evaluation framework in Poland. David Sweeney argues that while the Impact Agenda addresses some issues of British science, it cannot be simply transposed to other academic systems. Instead, policy makers should factor in the local academic culture and the particular aims set before science in their context.

This article aims to present a didactic teaching proposal, which broaches the issue of evaluation of liaison interpreting. An interpreting scene in the popular series Game of Thrones, in whose third season the slave Missandei serves as a negotiating interpreter, will serve as a live demonstration. On the basis of the evaluation criteria elaborated by Kautz (2002), this scene will be examined and analysed in a plenary session, to enable students to form a clear idea about how negotiation interpreting can look in practice, what difficulties can arise, what solutions can be found and what strategies can be adopted. The subsequent discussion serves as a starting point for further reflections about professional ethics, codes of ethics, the neutrality of the interpreter, etc. This teaching proposal has attracted wide interest and its didactic could all be more than achieved

The article analyses the mode of establishing and recording the process of poetry valuation in Zarys literatury polskiej z ostatnich lat szesnastu [An outline of the literature of the last sixteen years] written by Piotr Chmielowski, as well as the textual strategies of the author that modeled the transformations in the discourse of the author. It is proved in the article that in the Chmielowski’s disquisitions the problem of evaluation is just as important as the evaluation as a problem. The evaluation of poetry conducted by the critic was an element of self-identification of the generation of ”young poets” that he himself represented, as well as a proof for their longing for grand poetry, discomfort resulting from lack of authority figures and difficulties in expressing one’s own or/and national suffering. The use of the so-called ”argument of poetry” has been recognized here as a distinctive feature of Chmielowski’s idiolect that serves to dynamize his critical writings.

The article deals with the problems of teaching and learning speaking, in particular those which are most relevant in the context of developing oral skills at the advanced level of foreign language proficiency. The complex nature of spoken discourse must be taken into account and reflected at each stage of the learning process. Thus, the article examines the difficulties connected with choosing the appropriate framework and approach and discusses the typical patterns of interaction in the foreign language classroom. It also examines forms of control and evaluation and suggests some speaking activities which seem most suitable for advanced language learners in the light of the above theoretical considerations.

Despite the large amount of information, including books, articles and pristine images of geotourism, there exists no comprehensive study on the collection and classification of them in Iran yet. In this research, for the modelling of geosite watersheds, 1000 articles were surveyed through library research and the models with the highest frequency of use were identified and analysed among a statistical sample of 451 local papers using the Meta-Analysis method, and then the most efficient ones were identified using Delphi and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods. The re- sults of this study showed that while the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT), Pralong, Reynard, AHP and Pereira models are in the first to fifth-ranked models with the highest frequency, however, Pralong, SWOT, Reynard, Perira and Comanescu models were considered as the most efficient ones in geosite modelling in Iran.

The term contrastive grammar is still ambiguous. In this paper we trace the unjustified synonymy of terms (confrontative grammar, comparative grammar, contrastive grammar) which lead to controversy among linguists and we attempt to introduce appropriate clarifications to explain the phenomenon. We can state that this linguistic direction is quite new, and its metalanguage is still in the process of development and formation. When studying contrastive grammar in the modern scientific functional-communicative paradigm, the focus of attention is directed to the issues of pragmalinguistics, that is the research, in addition to the actual meanings, of the semantics of linguistic units for designating objects of the environment, also the speech-thinking activity of speakers who use these units and listeners who interpret them; the possible situations of their application; the study of “language in context”; language research, taking into account the goal that is planned to be achieved in the communication process; the wide multidimensionality of the interpretation of the statement; the study of interactive means, taking into account grammatical meanings. The main category of pragmalinguistics is the category of evaluation, and therefore, the issue of contrastive grammar and contrastive description of languages is important to consider in the focus of the paradigm of the category of evaluation; in particular, this concerns the manifestation of each grammatical category.

To test the reliability of the evaluation of musical performances by musical experts, the protocols of the jury of an international music contest have been subjected to statistical analysis. The object of the analysis were 2156 jurors’ points and rank ratings, given by 28 members of the jury, assessing 77 different performances of one of Fryderyk Chopin’s polonaises, evaluated during the first stage of an international music competition. The analysis revealed the following: 1. very large interpersonal (inter-rater) differences of the jurors’ ratings, 2. despite these differences, there was a very high level of statistical significance of the inter-rater agreement (p<.ool) of the jurors’ evaluation, 3. despite the high level of statistical significance of inter-rater agreement of the evaluation of musical performance, this accounts for only 1/3 of the general variance of ratings. Conclusion: individual ratings of musical performance are not a reliable measure of musical achievement, even when given by music experts of the highest level.

Is to present lexical ways of evaluation, which are present in press articles dedicated to the election of E. Kopacz for prime minister. The study material consists of articles published in eight public opinion weeklies, which were published in Poland in September of 2014. They are journals with different ideological profiles. Among the noted lexical terms, there are primarily-evaluative as well as descriptively-evaluative expressions. These are adjectives, adverbs, participles, pronouns and modality indicators. Numerously represented are statements in which the authors report affirmations that evaluate other people. The analysed terms invoke, most of all, the utilitarian, perfectionist, cognitive, socially-custom criterion. Among the noted terms, the majority consists of those with a negative value mark. As it turned out, the ideological engagement of periodicals had a slight impact on the media image of E. Kopacz. An almost solely negative evaluation was present in conservative press. However, the press, which can be described as liberal, also pointed the weaknesses of the new prime minister, recalling negative opinions about her. It did it, however, in a more veiled manner.

The aim of the study was to determine whether the age of the audience of the exhibition influences the assessment of aesthetic preferences of artistic products made up by people with visual impairment. The research was conducted to give an answer if there are differences in the preferences of different categories of artworks created by artists who are blind or low vision. The research consisted in the evaluation of raised-line drawings, photographs, sculptures and the tactile picturebook. These artistic products were presented in the art gallery. The assessments were made on a 5-point scale, where the respondents indicated how much they liked the artworks they were watching. In the study participated 118 people, including 80 children and 38 adults. It turned out that age and type of art had an interactive impact on the aesthetic assessment. Age differences in aesthetic preference werefound in reference to drawings and picture books. The visual art created by people with sight impairment was evaluated very positively.

W artykule podjęto rozważania na temat pojęcia kanonu w praktyce krytycznoliterackiej ostatniego trzydziestolecia. Odwołując się do toczących się wówczas debat społecznych i krytycznych oraz do używanych w nich różnych definicji kanonu, autorka pokazuje konteksty i reperkusje jego poruszenia (demontażu, rekonstrukcji). Nie tracąc z oczu zasadniczego faktu, że rozumienie kanonu przekłada się na sposób myślenia o literaturze oraz roli/powinnościach/możliwościach krytyki literackiej, analizuje zarówno cele, jak i sposoby używania tego pojęcia. A także okoliczności, w których w dyskusjach i tekstach krytycznych, podejmujących problematykę wartościowania, literackich hierarchii czy zadań krytyki, miejsce kanonu jako punktu odniesienia przejął mainstream i inne kategorie, bardziej adekwatne do heteronomicznego charakteru pola literackiego.
This article discusses the concept of the canon in Polish literary criticism in the 1990s, the 2000s, and the 2010s. The author discusses contemporary social and critical debates and different definitions of the canon employed in them and shows the contexts and repercussions of redefending (disassembling, reconstructing) the literary canon. Bearing in mind the fundamental fact that the understanding of the canon translates into the way of thinking about literature and the role /obligations/possibilities of literary criticism, she analyzes both the goals and the ways in which the concept of the canon is used. She also analyzes the circumstances in which the canon, as a point of reference, was replaced in discussions and texts devoted to literary hierarchies and/or literary criticism by the mainstream and other categories which were better suited to describe the heteronomous nature of the literary field.

Humanistically oriented, qualitative educational studies allow learning about and supporting the processes of social change, including the development of schools directed towards the implementation of the idea of inclusive education. Evaluation research seems to be particularly useful for achieving this goal. The results presented in the article are a part of the extensive material collected in field research, which was conducted in the years 2015-2018 in eight schools of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The aim of the study was to describe school community activity and the subjective and intersubjective structure of the meaning of entities creating space for the implementation of students’ educational needs. The article presents the beliefs of parents and teachers on the educational partnership of schools and family, as well as barriers in its development, reconstructed on the basis of data originated from group discussions conducted in one of the schools that participated in the research.

Due to the multifaceted nature of the revitalisation process, its evaluation and monitoring, as well as possible comparisons, are complex and difficult to carry out. Evaluation of the revitalisation process currently poses a challenge for all municipalities. The article aims to compare the revitalisation process in the two Polish cities of Toruń and Bydgoszcz. The analysis was based on two financial perspectives: 2007–2015 and 2016–2023. The authors chose a multi-criteria analysis method based on the analytical hierarchical process (AHP) as the main research method. The results show that the Local Revitalisation Programme of the City of Toruń for the years 2007–2015 had the best impact on the revitalisation process. Using the AHP method, we could carry out a multidimensional evaluation of the revitalisation process. Moreover, it allowed us to combine different elements of the evaluation of the revitalisation process and transform them into one synthetic result, ranking each programme in a hierarchy. At the methodological level, the article presents a new approach to conduct research in socio-economic geography, using the tool of multi-criteria analysis derived from the disciplines of economics and management sciences. Until now, the AHP method has not been used in the analysis of the revitalisation process, which confirms the innovative character of the conducted research.
