W artykule przedstawiona jest wstępna diagnoza sytuacji edukacyjnej i zawodowej absolwentów studiów licencjackich województwa podkarpackiego, jednego z województw Polski wschodniej charakteryzującego się trudną sytuacją na rynku pracy. Badano absolwentów po dwóch latach od ukończenia studiów. W pierwszej części artykułu autorka omawia bazę materiałową badania, charakteryzuje także sytuację na podkarpackim rynku pracy. W części drugiej koncentruje się na sprawach związanych z pracą zawodową absolwentów i motywami jej wyboru oraz kontynuowaniem edukacji na uzupełniających studiach magisterskich. Wstępna diagnoza pokazuje, że istnieje zgoda absolwentów na podejmowanie pracy w pełnym i niepełnym wymiarze godzin oraz pracy dorywczej i na zlecenie zarówno zgodnej, jak i niezgodnej z ukończonym kierunkiem studiów. Większość badanych licencjatów - zarówno tych, którzy pracują, jak i niepracujących - podjęła uzupełniające studia magisterskie, uznając je za konieczny etap kariery zawodowej.
The article gives a preliminary diagnosis of the educational and occupational situation of graduates with a bachelor’s degree in the Podkarpackie voivodship, one of the administrative regions in eastern Poland with a difficult labour market. In the first part of the article the author discusses the background for the study and describes the labour market situation in the region. The second section focuses on graduates’ careers and motivations which drive their choices and encourage them to undertaken follow-up education leading to a master’s degree. According to the preliminary diagnosis, graduates are willing to accept full-time and part-time positions as well as temporary assignments, whether corresponding with their educational background or not. The majority of the studied graduates, both working and not working, have enrolled into master’s programmes and perceive them an essential part of their career.

This study investigated the consistency of a measure of integrative motivation in the prediction of achievement in English as a foreign language in 18 samples of Polish school students. The results are shown to have implications for concerns expressed that integrative motivation might not be appropriate to the acquisition of English because it is a global language and moreover that other factors such as the gender of the student or the environment of the class might also influence its predictability. Results of a hierarchical linear modeling analysis indicated that for the older samples, integrative motivation was a consistent predictor of grades in English, unaffected by either the gender of the student or class environment acting as covariates. Comparable results were obtained for the younger samples except that student gender also contributed to the prediction of grades in English. Examination of the correlations of the elements of the integrative motivation score with English grades demonstrated that the aggregate score is the more consistent correlate from sample to sample than the elements themselves. Such results lead to the hypothesis that integrative motivation is a multi-dimensional construct and different aspects of the motivational complex come into play for each individual. That is, two individuals can hold the same level of integrative motivation and thus attain the same level of achievement but one might be higher in some elements and lower in others than another individual, resulting in consistent correlations of the aggregate but less so for the elements.

The article discusses the difficulties of diagnosing speaking skills in the situation of matriculation examination, resulting from the specific nature of spoken language varieties and texts implementation in these variants. Factors that should be taken into account when formulating criteria for assessing speech and conversation exams are: complex and holistic structure of spoken speech, transience of audible text, the spontaneity of live speech, the power of nonverbal codes, a significant stigma of a dialog, and the influence of situational context on the course of communicative interaction. The analysis of speaking skills assessment tools prepared for the oral examination in the year 2015 revealed that some of them had a significant impact on the criteria developed for this purpose.

Opis:
An increased interest in gerontological (old age) education has been recently observed in Poland. It is moreover claimed that this discipline has undergone a rapid development. This observation is particularly true in the context of the Universities of Third Age (U3A) movement. In this paper, we would like to revise current concepts, developed for the purpose of gerontological education, and then contribute to the overall discussion to stress that there is a need to include all education-oriented activities related to old age and ageing in various aspects as one integrated theoretical concept. We would like to address this topic in a holistic manner. However, we aim to connect the aspect of the recent development of old age-focused educational activities carried out in Poland with some data that has not been published before. This will provide an option to understand the development of education of these concepts in Poland as well as help to identify the drawbacks of this process. We will contribute an in-depth evaluation of this process in Poland and outline future needs which have to be met to use all opportunities to prepare both the present and future society for the rapid ageing of Poland’s population.

The proposed text is an illustration of selected conclusions from a four-module research project conducted in one of the Wielkopolska counties. The aim of the empirical verification was to: make the educational and professional characteristics of the junior high school plans, get acquainted with the opinions of the employers on the situation in the local labor market, get acquainted with the plans connected with the employment of employees, get acquainted with the preparation of graduates of particular types of schools to meet the opinion of the directors of post-gymnasium schools on the state of the vocational education and to get acquainted with the opinions of the students of the upper secondary school classes on the situation on the labor market, the offer of vocational education and the self-assessment of preparation to enter the labor market. The research was conducted in the first quarter of 2016 and 2017, by the diagnostic survey method. The article is based on one of the study modules – a study of middle school students that was conducted in 2016 – the findings from the 2017 study will be cited in some places for comparative purposes only. Due to the specificity of the research topic, the selection of the research sample was random. High school students (N = 486 in 2016 and N = 490 in 2017), upper secondary school students (N = 503 – 2016 and N = 498 – 2017), upper secondary school graduates (N = 6 in 2016 and 2017 ) and the largest employers (N = 78 in 2016, N = 102 in 2017). In this project the diagnostic survey method was used as the basis. The method used to analyze the contents was made using the local traditional (printed) and internet press and the thematic work edited by the County Labor Office in Gniezno and other institutions. The main topic of this paper was the educational and vocational elections of junior high school students in the context of the situation on the local labor market (which, as it turns out, does not correspond to its needs), revealing weaknesses in vocational counseling. Regarding the specific nature of the region, attention has also been paid to the face (as opposed to the offer) of vocational education (depicted in the vocational school 2017/2018) depreciated in the eyes of the local community, which in the reality of the local labor market seems to be a rational educational choice without causing closure Road to higher education. The dissertation on vocational education has been made an additional element of publication.
