Opis:
In this paper, we present a simple algorithm for the reduction of a given bivariate polynomial matrix to a pencil form which is encountered in Fornasini-Marchesini’s type of singular systems. It is shown that the resulting matrix pencil is related to the original polynomial matrix by the transformation of zero coprime equivalence. The exact form of both the matrix pencil and the transformation connecting it to the original matrix are established.

Opis:
In this paper, a robust fault-tolerant control strategy for constrained multisensor linear systems, subject to sensor faults and in the presence of bounded state and output disturbances, is proposed. The scheme verifies that, for each sensors-estimator combination, suitable residual variables lie inside pre-computed sets and selects a more appropriate combination based on a chosen criterion. An active fault tolerant output feedback controller yields an MPC-based control law and, by means of the notion of a "tube" of trajectories, we ensure robust closed-loop exponential stability and good performance in the fault-free case and under the occurrence of abrupt sensor faults.

The problem of zeroing the output in an arbitrary linear continuous-time system S(A,B,C,D) with a nonvanishing transfer function is discussed and necessary conditions for output-zeroing inputs are formulated. All possible real-valued inputs and real initial conditions which produce the identically zero system response are characterized. Strictly proper and proper systems are discussed separately.

We discuss basic notions of the ergodic theory approach to chaos. Based on simple examples we show some characteristic features of ergodic and mixing behaviour. Then we investigate an infinite dimensional model (delay differential equation) of erythropoiesis (red blood cell production process) formulated by Lasota. We show its computational analysis on the previously presented theory and examples. Our calculations suggest that the infinite dimensional model considered possesses an attractor of a nonsimple structure, supporting an invariant mixing measure. This observation verifies Lasota's conjecture concerning nontrivial ergodic properties of the model.

The problem of linear feedback design for bilinear control systems guaranteeing their conditional closed-loop stability is considered. It is shown that this problem can be reduced to investigating the conditional stability of solutions of quadratic systems of differential equations depending on parameters of the control law. Sufficient conditions for stability in the cone of a homogeneous quadratic system are obtained. For second-order systems, invariant conditions of conditional asymptotic stability are found.

New existence conditions of a linear feedback control law for a class of fractional-order nonlinear continuous-time systems under constraints are proposed. Using the comparison principle and positively invariant set theory, conditions guaranteeing positive invariance of a polyhedron for fractional-order nonlinear systems are established. A linear feedback controller model and the corresponding algorithm of the CRP for fractional nonlinear systems are also proposed by using the obtained conditions. The presented model of the CRP is formulated as a linear programming problem, which can be easily implemented from a computational point of view. Numerical examples illustrate the proposed method.

Opis:
A geometric interpretation of invariant zeros of MIMO LTI discrete-time systems is provided. The zeros are treated as the triples: complex number, state zero direction, input zero direction. Such a treatment is strictly connected with the output zeroing problem and in that spirit the zeros can be easily interpreted even in the degenerate case (i.e. when each complex number constitutes an invariant zero). Simply, in the degenerate case, to each complex number we can assign an appropriate real initial condition and an appropriate real input sequence which produce a non-trivial solution to the state equation and a zero system response. Clearly, when zeros are treated merely as complex numbers, such an interpretation is impossible. The proposed definition of invariant zeros is compared with other commonly known definitions. It is shown that each Smith zero of the system matrix is also an invariant zero in the sense of the definition adopted in the paper. On the other hand, simple numerical examples show that the considered definition of invariant zeros and the Davison-Wang definition are not comparable. The output-zeroing problem for systems decouplable by state feedback is also described.

The concept of invariant zeros in a linear time-invariant system with state delay is considered. In the state-space framework, invariant zeros are treated as triples: complex number, nonzero state-zero direction, input-zero direction. Such a treatment is strictly related to the output-zeroing problem and in that spirit the zeros can be easily interpreted. The problem of zeroing the system output is discussed. For systems of uniform rank, the first nonzero Markov parameter comprises a certain amount of information concerning invariant zeros, output-zeroing inputs and zero dynamics. General formulas for output-zeroing inputs and zero dynamics are provided.

Opis:
The paper proposes an algorithm for safeness verification of a Petri net-based specification of the control part of cyber-physical systems. The method involves a linear algebra technique and is based on the computation of the state machine cover of a Petri net. Contrary to the well-known methods, the presented idea does not require obtaining all sequential components, nor the computation of all reachable states in the system. The efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed method have been verified experimentally with a set of 243 test modules (Petri net-based systems). The results of experiments show high efficiency of the proposed method since a solution has been found even for such nets where popular techniques are not able to analyze the safeness of the system. Finally, the presented algorithm is explained in detail using a real-life case-study example of the control part of a cyber-physical system.

We review the polynomial matrix compensator equation XlDr + YlNr = Dk (COMP), e.g. (Callier and Desoer, 1982, Kučera, 1979; 1991), where (a) the right-coprime polynomial matrix pair (Nr,Dr) is given by the strictly proper rational plant right matrix-fraction P = NrD-1 r , (b) Dk is a given nonsingular stable closed-loop characteristic polynomial matrix, and (c) (Xl, Yl) is a polynomial matrix solution pair resulting possibly in a (stabilizing) rational compensator given by the left fraction C = X-1 l Yl. We recall first the class of all polynomial matrix pairs (Xl, Yl) solving (COMP) and then single out those pairs which result in a proper rational compensator. An important role is hereby played by the assumptions that (a) the plant denominator Dr is column-reduced, and (b) the closed-loop characteristic matrix Dk is row-column-reduced, e.g., monically diagonally degree-dominant. This allows us to get all solution pairs (Xl, Yl) giving a proper compensator with a row-reduced denominator Xl having (sufficiently large) row degrees prescribed a priori. Two examples enhance the tutorial value of the paper, revealing also a novel computational method.
