Opis:
This article wants to show how it influences pedagogues’ judgement when models of governance are implemented in residences where children and young people are placed. Foucault’s concept of gov-ernmentality is used (Foucault, 1988) and explains how these models of governance result in peda-gogues altering their conception of what a good pedagogue is and what they do. The article then argues for the existence of a correlation between implementation of models of governance and an influence on pedagogues’ judgement.

The purpose of this article is to analyse the changes in the conditions of academic freedom that occurred over the last several decades and to point out the possible ramifications of those changes. Firstly, the author begins by depicting the origins and the meaning of the neohumanistic modern idea of academic freedom and with outlining some of its paradoxes and limitations. Secondly, the classical neohumanistic concept of academic freedom is juxtaposed with new premises of economic neoliberalism, as diagnosed by Michel Foucault. Also the consequences of economic legitimisation of political order for academic freedom are drawn. Ultimately, the author concentrates on the results of economic limitations of freedom for free thinking and its relationship with human moral judgements.

Opis:
The paper considers the question of relationship between Bernhard Waldenfels’s phenomenology of the alien and education. In the first part it presents the character of the experience of the alien developed by the German thinker, underlining its double structure – the stage of shock and surprise with the alien and the moment of response to its “demand”, which philosopher relates to a certain sort of ethics. In the second part, the article establishes the relationship between the Waldenfels’s experience of the alien and a transformative mode of learning understood as the one that makes a place for categories of unexpected and desired in education, allows for subjectivity formation and strengthens critical thinking. The last part of the text addresses a question of the place of transformative Bildung based on Waldenfels’s phenomenological analysis of the alien in the contemporary neoliberal landscape with its shift towards functional, instrumentalist and consumer-based modes of teaching.

The aim of the article is to elucidate the reasons why the critical pedagogue Henry A. Giroux, in his recent works, was inspired by the thought (in many aspects completely different) of Hannah Arendt, particularly by her analyses concerning the role of public spaces and the power of judgement in the modern world. The article develops three contact points in which the two distinct paradigms meet. They are: the metaphor of the “dark times”, adopted by Giroux, public spaces and the university.

Abstract: This article aims to investigate the re-democratization process in Latin America, specifically in Chile. In this sense, it starts from the concept of “neoliberal economic” and the “National Security Doctrine” DSN”, which are the key pillars of the Chilean society's militarization process, from the military intervention of 1973 and the re-founding of the State from the binomial repression politics and neoliberalism. The Chilean re-democratization was characterized by the containment files expressed in the 1980 Constitution aimed at curbing the initiatives of the first post-dictatorship civil government, elected in 1990, and subsequent governments. Therefore, this work presents a literature review based on the country's political transition particularities, highlighting its civil and military protagonists' role and the organized society that gradually returned to its public space. It is concluded that the transition from dictatorship to democracy was a process marked by ambiguities and reluctance, resulting in protected and restricted civil governments.

In this article, I explore how museums navigate the contradictions between contemporary discourses and the presence of colonial European art. Museums as sites of education and collection of items have been approached critically by various feminist artists and activists in recent decades. And in response, museums have begun to hold exhibitions that embrace feminist narratives. Therefore, I connect these peculiarities at a museum in former East Germany and its attempt to appeal to these discussions. For my case study I have chosen das Museum der bildenden Künste (further shortened to the MdbK) in Leipzig. I explore how local and global agendas play out in current exhibitions, how and by whom feminist frameworks are applied to its collection, and what dynamics can be seen in its permanent and temporary exhibition projects. For the purposes of the “Connecting Eastern Europe and Latin America” project, I focus on the exhibition entitled Olga Costa: Dialogues with Mexican Modernism that took place at the MdbK from 1 December 2022 to 26 March 2023. I ask the following questions: Do these temporary projects educate the museum’s team and challenge the narratives that are being told through the permanent exhibitions and publications? Do those temporary exhibitions transform the museum’s general narrative? I turn to how large exhibitions, which are curated by the core museum’s team, present gender, race, (in)justice, German nationalism, and equality.
