Assistance for Africa
Opis:: Relations between African and European Union countries are complex and multidimensional. This paper concentrates on the development assistance to Africa by the European Economic Community/European Union from the Treaty of Rome to the Treaty of Lisbon. Changes in the relationship between Africa and the European Union resulting from the Lisbon Summit are described in the second part of the article. In the final part institutional and financial dimension of the European Union assistance to Africa is presented.

Opis:: Sub-Saharan Africa is a region with the constantly deteriorating level of food security. The article discusses the determinants of agricultural production in this part of the world. It attempts to evaluate whether climate and soil conditions limit agricultural production capabilities on the continent. Based on the case-studies of two countries – Malawi and Zimbabwe, it shows the influence of political decisions on food security of the population in both countries.

Opis:: Manifestation of a hegemony of the Republic South Africa's foreign policy at the regional, continental and global scenes was analysed in this paper. South Africa strongly emphasizing its African identity and having at her disposal all features of the regional hegemon was not able to take over decisive political leadership of the SADC region and of the continent. The thesis suggests and documents that perception/impact of South Africa's foreign policy increases proportionally to the distance between Pretoria/Tshwane and a capital of a country/region or organization. Analysing trends of socio-economic changes in South Africa the author came to the conclusions that impact of South Africa's foreign policy at the international scene will be decreasing with time.
