Turkey
Opis:
Turkey has a developed banking sector which has a very important place in Turkish economy. Internet banking applications started in 1997. Though it does not have a long history it has a very huge potential in the Turkish market. The aim of this paper is to explore if demographical factors are important in identifying the target customers for internet banking; to identify the perception of consumers regarding the attributes of internet banking usage; and to check if consumers perceive internet banking as a useful alternative channel. For this, an empirical research was conducted on 506 internet users over the age of 18, and two different clusters of non-users of internet banking and three different clusters for users of internet banking were identified, based on the demographic characteristics of respondents, which could be a valuable tool for marketing managers for identifying their segmentation and positioning strategies. Five factors were found to be as attributes of internet banking usage. Among the five factors, “security and trust” was found to be the factor that had the highest factor load for Internet banking usage. Finally, the discriminant analysis carried out reveals clues for bank managers about how to identify potential Internet bank users.

Opis:
Globalization is the process of transforming regional or local developments and phenomena into global realities. Globalization is also a process that unifies the world into a single society which is a combination of economical, social, political and technological influences. The most substantial actor in this process is the Internet and its contributions to data and knowledge procurement among the states, legal and natural persons. Moreover, Turkey is one of the leading nations in the world to encourage the use of Internet and e-government implementations to integrate Turkey with rest of the world and render premium services to her citizens and other related entities. Individual Cultural Traits
Emerging Market
Turkey
Opis:
Every nation has its own way of living, traditions, values, and norms. The cultural practices vary among the countries all over the world. The advertisement itself, the messages conveyed and the actors performing in it depend on the cultural characteristics of the country. The development level of the countries may have an impact on the cultural values of individuals; hence on the consumption behavior and marketing applications. Individual cultural differences may call for certain adaptations in the messages, content, and style of the advertisements for a certain target group. Depending on this view, this research tries to analyze the effects of individual differences on the advertising effectiveness in an emerging country, Turkey.. The effectiveness of each advertisement was measured in terms of the persuasiveness and liking. Furthermore, individual cultural differences were analyzed on two dimensions of masculinity and power distance, which were introduced by Hofstede (1983). All the masculinity statements were grouped under one factor whereas power distance statements were grouped under two subdimensions namely “trust for subordinates” and “obedience to authority”. The masculinity scale was found to create significant difference in the effectiveness of the advertisements. However, the power distance did not create any difference between the effectiveness levels. Individual cultural traits did not create any difference in the effectiveness of advertisements except in ads which carry masculine cues (called ‘masculine ads’ throughout the text). If the ad carried masculine cues, then, feminine individuals evaluated effectiveness of masculine ads significantly lower than did the masculine individuals.

W tekście dokonano analizy rynku prasy drukowanej w Turcji w latach 2012–2020. Zwrócono uwagę na zmianę struktury własności i sieć powiązań własnościowych w grupach medialnych, spadek czytelnictwa gazet i czasopism oraz okoliczności społeczno-polityczne, jakie doprowadziły do upadku niezależnych mediów w Turcji. Zaliczono do nich: protesty w Istambule w 2013 roku, nieudany zamach stanu w 2016 roku, korupcję władzy.
In this paper, we analyse the press market in Turkey between 2012 and 2020. We focus on the change in the ownership structure and ownership networks of media groups, the decline in newspaper and magazine readership, and the socio-political factors which led to the collapse of independent media in Turkey: protests in Istanbul in 2013 and the failed coup in 2016, corruption.

Currency Crisis

Third Generation Crisis Model
Turkey
Opis:
The 2000/2001 Turkish crisis was one of the most impressive crises that hit the emerging market economies in the late 90s. The characteristic of this crisis is not only its violence but also its suddenness. We observe two rapid crisis sequences which are different from recent financial crisis examples. The analysis of the Turkish crisis in the literature generally presents an analytical aspect that only relates the stylized facts of the crisis omitting a strong econometric basis. This paper goes further: it presents two models (OLS and Logit) which will test the implication level of the macroeconomic and financial variables in the outbreak of the crisis.

Opis:
The purpose of the study is to examine the degree of convergence or divergence of Turkish immigrants’ work values in Germany when compared to Turks’ and Germans’ work values. The importance of Turkish immigrants has increased owing to awareness of different value structures and the negligence of transitional groups in cross-cultural studies. Based on these justifications, the study conducts a value analysis on Turks, Germans and Turkish immigrants. While Turkish immigrants converge with Germans on competitiveness, skepticism, and collaboration values, they diverge from both Turks’ and Germans’ values on the basis of favoritism, intuitiveness, modesty, and contentedness. Thus, it is understood that Turkish immigrants have different values from Turks and Germans.

Opis:
compared on the basis of backwardness-forwardness dichotomy. The Industrial Revolution has made the polarization between developed and underdeveloped countries deeper. Those countries that could not complete their industrialization process in the last two centuries are now aware that their less-developed positions and prefer to target the level of developed countries. Turkey’s development endeavor goes back to the Ottoman Reform Movement Era in which the Ottomans tried to imitate the development model of Western European countries. This perspective has gradually expanded from advancement in military technology and administrative structure to political, economic and socio-cultural fields. Thus, the value system of the West concerning development has been taken as a point of reference during the Republic. As a consequence, the last two centuries of Turkey has been passed with successful and failed attempts to reach to the level of modern civilization. This paper investigates on the how far Turkey’s development efforts have gone, what opportunities have been missed, at what level now Turkey stands in the development process, what similarities and differences can be identified between Turkey and Western countries, and at which extent Turkey’s development endeavor provides some clues for transitional countries. In this paper, the fundamental questions are on whether the administration of development process (e.g. misallocation of resources, inefficiency and waste, corruption) is in the “right direction”.
