    The position of women on the labour market is different from that of men so gender - but also age - are characteristics that differentiate those two groups in the labour market statistics. The article presents a diagnosis and an attempt at evaluation of the situation of working-age people at the Polish labour market with regard to gender and age. This objective is furthered by a discussion of the factors affecting employment activity as well as of the economic theories on female- and male-specific behaviours at the labour market. The data used in this article come from the GUS (Central Statistical Office of Poland) database as well as from Edition 3 (2012) of the Bilans Kapitału Ludzkiego [Study of Human Capital in Poland] report.

    Współczesny rynek pracy ulega nieustannym przeobrażeniom, dyktując wciąż nowe trendy w zatrudnieniu. Aktualnie obowiązujące zapisy prawne zawarte w dokumentach strategicznych polityki społeczno-gospodarczej poświęcają szczególną uwagę problematyce zatrudnienia i rynku pracy. Jest to jeden z najważniejszy obszarów polityki społecznej, a jego działania skupiają się przede wszystkim na realizacji celów społecznych, z których najważniejszym jest przeciwdziałanie nierównościom w dostępie do zatrudnienia. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie dokonujących się zmian w ostatnich latach na rynku pracy na Warmii i Mazurach, zaprezentowanie działań lokalnych w zakresie aktywizacji bezrobotnych i przeciwdziałaniu bezrobociu, jak również ukazanie dobrych praktyk w tej sferze.
    The contemporary labor market is being constantly transformed and keeps dictating new trends in employment. In the currently applicable legal provisions contained in the strategic documents of socio-economic policy special attention is paid to the issues of employment and the labor market. It is one of the most important social policy areas and its activities are focused mainly on social objectives, the most important of which is counteracting the inequalities in the access to employment. The goal of this article is to present the ongoing changes that have occurred recently in the labor market in Warmia and Mazury, to present local activities undertaken in order to activate the unemployed and combat unemployment, as well as to show good practices in this area.

    Professional work is a very important in a handicapped person's life. It provides a labour income, personal fulfillment and a job satisfaction, but it is also the only chance to stay in contact with other people. Work plays the essential socialization function (in addition to the income and the rehabilitation function). For the economy professional activity of handicapped people means a better use of human capital and improvement of the rationality of limited public funds. The aim of this article is the presentation of employment changes of people with handicaps and the analysis of their effect on the activity level of this group. The author takes into account the situation on the open and protected labour market as well as indicates the activation methods used for handicappers.

    Economic and political transformations, that took place in Poland in the early 90's, significantly affected conditions in the labour market of people with disabilities. Companies employing disabled people, when operating in the system of professional activation of disabled, became a participant of competitive economy. New solutions in the field of social policy for the activation of disabled people include the mechanisms of economic support through the co-financing and refunds. The open labour market has become the declared target area of employment for people with disabilities. The aim of protected labour market was to develop towards the employment, in particular, of people whose type and degree of disability restricts reasonable opportunity to work on the open market. The analysis of effectiveness of system solutions and used economic support tools permits to conclude, that the real picture of accupational activity differs from the model and effects of implemented corrections are different from assumptions and expectations. Effective from January 1st, 2009, the amendment of basic legal act on the shape of professional activation system that is the Act on Social and Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment of Disabled, results, inter alia, in the lack of connection between the nominal amount of financial support and the amount of gross wages and the significant approximation of grants amount for disabled people employed in the open and protected labour market (since January 1st, 2013 there will be the alignment). Legal restrictions on the financing system in the current form of vocational activation system of disabled act in the antimotivational way on the employment of people with disabilities in protected working conditions - for those people this form of employment should be particularly open. It seems necessary to create conditions for sheltered employment and social rehabilitation of disabled people to be implemented in organizations that mission and goals are not aimed at achieving business results ("non-profit" organizations, public benefit organizations, associations, foundations, organizations running public benefit activity).

    For several years subsidies for the unemployed have been one of the main instruments adopted by institutions operating on labour market in Poland. At the same time, they are particularly popular among the unemployed. Nearly 265 000 people have used this form of vocational activation since 2007. Subsidies on starting business activity are specific tool. Their main aim is to promote self-employment and it is beyond any doubt that this objective has been accomplished as subsidies, along with refunds, are the only instruments characterized by 100% effectiveness as far as employment is concerned. Nevertheless, Labour Fund incurs considerable expenditure on subsidies on starting business activity, and spending per beneficiary is considered the form of assistance characterized by the highest cost-effectiveness. The article attempts to analyze the importance of subsidies in the system of labour market instruments used in Poland, both in a macro and mezoeconomic perspective, as well as analyze expenditures on this objective and their efficiency. The analysis covers the period from 2007 to 2011. Information was collected mainly from statistics and compilations published by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy as well as report entitled "All-Poland survey on vocational activation designed for the unemployed, i.e. resources for starting business activity provided by Labour Fund".

    This paper analyses the data indicating a degree to which the female potential is used in Lower Silesia in the 21st century. The basic statistical measures illustrating the women's economic activity (economic activity rate, employment rate, unemployment rate, the reasons of excessive passivity) constitute the subject of this research. The capital and economic potential of Lower Silesian women is presented here on the basis of statistical data related to education and learning. Currently, education and the acquired knowledge as well as skills are the basic building material of "human capital", which often determines material status, which in turn allows for social advancement. That is why, education is deemed as an unquestionable value. The data on the choice of education can serve as the grounds for forecasting the situation of young women entering the Lower Silesian labour market.

    Aktywność zawodowa kobiet systematycznie w Polsce rośnie. Wynika to z przeobrażeń rynku pracy, zmian preferencji życiowych kobiet, wzrostu poziomu ich wykształcenia czy kapitałowego systemu emerytalnego, w którym zgromadzony kapitał decyduje o przyszłej emeryturze. Poziom aktywności zawodowej kobiet jest w Polsce silnie determinowany przez posiadanie potomstwa. Wraz z liczbą dzieci poziom tego wskaźnika znacząco spada. W przypadku kobiet nieposiadających dzieci w 2014 r. wskaźnik zatrudnienia wyniósł 73,3%, a już w przypadku posiadających troje i więcej dzieci zaledwie 54%. W artykule omówiony zostanie wpływ posiadania dziecka na aktywność zawodową kobiet w świetle teorii ekonomii, badań danych statystycznych oraz wyników raportu Bilans Kapitału Ludzkiego 2015.
    The professional activity of women in Poland is growing steadily. This is due to the transformation of the labour market, changes in the preferences of life of women, increase their level of education, whether funded pension system, which determines the accumulated capital of a future retirement. The level of activity of women in Poland is strongly determined by having children. With the number of children, the level of this ratio drops significantly. In the case of women with children in 2014. Employment rate stood at 73.3%, as is already the case with 3 or more children only 54%. This article will discuss the impact of having a child on the professional activity of women in the light of economic theory, research, statistical data and report results Human Capital in 2015.

    The economic system is a whole, which is composed of various elements. The labor market is one of the elements. Self-employment i san alternative form of employment, that belongs to the so-called atypical forms of employment benefits. It is for people who are not able to find employment ora re unable to accept available jobs, with thei professional aspirations. This is a particulary attractive way of functioning and earning during the economic downturn. The article presents the most important rules and concepts of selfs-employment in Poland, the advantages and disadvantages of this form of employment, as well as the status and dynamics. The statistical data allowed for analysis of the phenomen and see how developed a numer of self-employed economic slowdown.

    Badania opinii studentów pomagają uczelniom w kształtowaniu wewnętrznej polityki edukacyjnej m.in. poprzez dostosowanie oferty programowej do ich oczekiwań. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja motywów i oczekiwań studentów związanych z kształceniem w uczelni wyższej na wybranych kierunkach ekonomicznych oraz ich planowanej tranzycji z systemu szkolnictwa wyższego na rynek pracy. Uzyskane wyniki badań pokazały, że populacja studentów na dwóch kierunkach studiów w Uniwersytecie Ekonomicznym w Katowicach (ekonomia i zarządzanie) jest silnie sfeminizowana. Studenci kierunku zarządzanie częściej niż studenci ekonomii deklarują postawy przedsiębiorcze, tj. chcą po uzyskaniu dyplomu założyć własną firmę. Relatywnie spory odsetek studentów nie miał, w momencie przeprowadzania badań, sprecyzowanych planów zawodowych (ponad 12,5%). Ponad połowa studentów ekonomii nie zamierza kontynuować nauki. W przypadku studentów kierunku zarządzanie odsetek ten jest mniejszy i wynosi 46%.
    Student opinion surveys help universities to shape their education policy, including by adapting the program offer to their expectations. The goal of the paper is to identify motives and expectations of students concerning higher education at selected majors and their transitions from the higher education system to the labour market. The research results showed that the student population in two majors of study at the University of Economics in Katowice (economics and management) is strongly feminised. Students of management major more often than students of economics major declare entrepreneurial attitudes, i.e. they want to start their own business after graduating. A relatively large percentage of students did not have, at the time of the research, specific career plans (over 12.5%). More than half of students of economics major do not intend to continue their education. In the case of students of management major, this percentage is smaller and amounts to 46%.
