Opis:
The article addresses an issue important in educational sciences which is emotional education understood as an activity for human emotional development. It is important in the context of lifelong learning, that is, both for the functioning of children and young people at school and for the lifelong learning of adults. Emotional education plays a significant role in the development of pro-social attitudes, the functioning of individuals in the local community, and in the building of civil society. Owing to the fact that the objectives of education and the principles of their implementation in educational practice are based on different theoretical assumptions, two different approaches to emotional education were distinguished, that is, technological-instrumental and humanistic-critical. There are clear and significant differences between those two perspectives, and not only in the way they conceptualize and explain “emotional education.” The two singled out approaches have consequences for educational policy and pedagogical practice. The aim of the article is to characterize both of the theoretical perspectives at hand and to indicate their implications for pedagogical activities.

Opis:
After 1945 a number of changes occurred in rural Poland in relation to the education of farmers and their families, and the role of education in the lives of rural residents. First of all, a new group of peasant intelligentsia was formed, coming from the peasant or working-class environment. It was to replace the earlier elites by working in the spirit of socialist ideas and supporting the development of the state. Due to the need to rebuild the country and increase the efficiency of agriculture, educators and agricultural advisors trained in cities were also directed to villages. Pursuant to the implemented education development programs, farmers’ children gained access to schools, and parities were created for them at universities. As a result, there was a greater chance for farmers to send their children to universities, but this required financial capabilities of the family, as well as the belief that the education acquired would mean social advancement. The purpose of the article is to analyze the structure of education and educational opportunities of rural residents during the People’s Republic of Poland.

Opis:
The subject of the analysis is within the category of an educational lie. According to Maria Ossowska, this might be understood as either a justified or permitted misleading of someone, or the maintaining an illusion for either one’s own or another’s sake. Looking at different categories of these distortions of truth, we find that they are used not only for a child’s upbringing or the benefit of the topic, but for withholding or modifying the information about the reality or educational concept. Cheating is an example of an educational lie and it combines someone’s opinion with truth, but would be falsely incompatible with factual knowledge and truthful understanding. Pupils who cheat mislead the teacher and, in the instructor’s ignorance, are led to believe that those pupils have, in fact, knowledge reflected in the exam. Likely the teacher is being cheated as well the student for different reasons. The educational lie has another dimension (when we take into account the sham activity) the quasi teaching or the pseudo-education. This occurs when educators/teachers offer their pupils/clients something different from what should be. The pretence takes place along with the authentic process of learning or completing educational tasks.

Nowadays, the problem of indoctrination at schools seems to be quite distant and invalid in the sphere of the pedagogical research. It appears that manipulating students and inculcating certain attitudes and beliefs to them may often be conducted unconsciously, which suppresses students’ remarkable capacities such as critical thinking, frank expression of their own opinions and much broader view on the varied subjects at the same time. The method of M. Lipman appears to be an effective solution for eliminating indoctrination at schools and adopting above mentioned attitudes by the students. After defining and analyzing certain notions concerning indoctrination and education, I present strong and weak points of the method of M. Lipman in excluding the idea of indoctrination at schools. The following writing presents the meaning and the significance of “The Philosophy for Children” in the struggle against the indoctrination.

The aim of the article is to answer the question: what can non-economic universities do to improve their curricula for economic modules and methods of implementation? Literature review, participant observation and descriptive statistics were used based on an original set of 430 projects from the ‘Marketing of tourism and leisure services’ course for the academic years 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17. Adopting a student orientation as a long-term partner in the information exchange process, in line with the concept of relationship marketing, contributes to the intensification of the didactic process aimed at broadening knowledge of economic reality.

This article analyzes the interaction between the careers of people working in artistic and intellectual worlds. Two ethnographic studies constitute the basis for the analysis of career building in connection with the careers of other actors. The concept of career coupling represents the process by which professional success is achieved through the forging of relationships between novice and elite actors. Career coupling in the social world of virtuoso musicians is compared to that of career coupling in the social world of elite scientists. It was found that both groups achieve status in a similar fashion by moving through a three-stage process: (1) matching; (2) active collaboration; and, (3) passive collaboration. It is argued that the analysis of career coupling developed here can also be transferred to other professional fields.

Opis:
Learning under an adult’s supervision is one of the essential conditions for child development. For the benefit of a child’s innate liveliness and his spontaneous discovery of the world, and in order to promote individuality, there is a call for new teaching methods at schools and nursery schools. This, however, entails boards of competent teachers with the necessary knowlege and skills at enhancing their pupils’ creativity and inventivess. Polish Foundation of Children and Teenagers in Warsaw, given assistance by Bernard Van Leer Foundation, has already prepared and carried out an educational programme intended for ore-school teaching circles. The programme propagated new methods of teaching children aged from 3 to 6. The presented article shows the programme’s evaluation research conducted on children. The research tried to provide an answer to the following question: do heightened competence of pre-school teachers’ and implementation of the new programme for working with children affect children’s development. The subject of analysis heavily relied on the children-made works, such sa: a picture of a human being, a picture on a freely-chosen subject and a picture Urban-Jellen’s Creative Thinking Test. In the research procedure both model and inspection nursery schools were taken into account. In the model nursery schools the teachers participated in the educational programme, and, supposedly, implemented the new programme for working with children. In the inspected nursery schools the teachers worked under traditional guidelines for teaching.

The main problem of absence the research and specialist literature about personality education in the period of the socialism, was caused the political and ideological reasons. In the state democratic, this same, became an object of the marginality and social exclusion in public and pedagogic debate. Important is the question – why, from what reason, we are questioning personality in pedagogic and we are giving rise for formulating alternatives towards him. This situation is supporting to creating another – non personal direction in pedagogic, against contents and the structure of the social functioning.

This article depicts five approaches to pedagogy, which can be recognized in the course of history: 1) Pedagogy as a philosophy (science of man, paideia, educational anthropology), 2) pedagogy as an independent discipline of humanities, 3) pedagogy as a subject of academic and vocational studies, 4) pedagogy as a subjective theory of education and 5) pedagogy as a community intellectual formation. I am still looking for answers to the question, which of these approaches raises criticism or points to the evolution of educational sciences and schooling as a helpful reflection for practitioners and new directions in researches.

Opis:
Based on biographical interviews conducted with research and teaching staff of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of the University of Lodz and also based on literature the author puts forward the thesis that the mass of education at the university leads to a reduction in the education quality. There are many reasons for the evolution of universities and places of study in societies and some of them have been analyzed. Idea universitas has been presented as the ideal type. The opposition presents the concept of “entrepreneurial university” which seems to dominate in Poland today. Taking into account the social changes of the last decades the aforementioned thesis is not so obvious to prove and therefore there is a critical issue with this assumption.

The main goal of the paper is to discuss whether a contest, as an educational tool, can develop the creativity of participants when the main goal of the students may be to win. A 24HOURS contest was implemented as a case study. Three methods were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the 24HOURS contest: a written questionnaire, individual in-depth interviews, and an online questionnaire. Results proved that the contest was unsatisfactory in increasing students’ creativity, as they were oriented to win, or to acquire knowledge, rather than to cooperate or interact with representatives of other student teams. The investigation confirmed the tutors’ enabling responsibility for both cooperation and creativity during the contest. However, expectations of tutor engagement caused concern and their role should, therefore, have been more clearly defined. Analysis of the case study presented in this paper can provide pedagogues with insight into the design and implementation of contests as educational tools.

Global changes around the world have demanded various transformations, including in the area of higher education. The aim of academic education is no longer to prepare people to work in particular occupations, but to create the appropriate abilities which are useful in the labor market. This kind of education must embody a multi-aspect character, because it prepares people for life-long learning. Therefore, when creating a “learning society”, one should make an effort to think of axiological dimension of scientific-technical advance. One ought to take into account the human elements of education, especially ethical issues. Practice shows that human relationships bereft of a transcendent and ethical dimension, and which focus only on financial, economic goods, on profit, the market and competition, do not bring anyone happiness. Hence there is an enormous demand in the academic community for ethical reflection, thanks to which, man is not only improved in the anthropological dimension, but also in the socio-economic aspect.
