    Solutions of Industry 4.0 cover more and more areas of the economy. In logistics, digitization applies to each of the functional areas. Introducing IT solutions in logistics leads to an increase in the reliability of communication, faster stock rotation, and a higher level of service. It enables higher work efficiency and overall productivity. Changes in work productivity in three warehouses as a result of the implementation of a WMS class system and accompanying necessary changes in the equipment and organiza tion of warehouse space was analysed in this work. The source of data for the analysis was the measurement of labour productivity for 12 months: three months before the implementation of the WMS and nine after its implementation. Work productivity after the implementation of the WMS increased by 40% compared to the level before it. The period of introducing WMS and obtaining an increase in personnel productivity was at least six months. Labour productivity in the analysed period increased in each month of the analysis. Only one of the three warehouses showed stabilization of workforce productivity at a level 50% higher than before the implementation. The research results confirm that the presence of WMS in the warehouse makes it possible to reach a significant increase in work productivity in warehouses.

    This article presents differences between Enterprise Resource Planning Systems and Warehouse Management Systems. Management of warehouse processes and hardware requires specialized functionality, not present in ERP, functionality that only WMS can provide. Using separate systems enforces their integration. Different approaches to integration and risks connected to implementation are discussed and summarized.

    Application of supporting business-related decision making processes through the use of information systems is becoming one of the fundamental requirements of the market competition. In this paper we present a survey of Business Intelligence (BI) models which can be implemented in Microsoft SQL Server environment. The survey is a response to the rapid development of BI solutions as they enter new areas of company’s activities, adopting new technologies. Business Intelligence systems have become an integral part of every major company. The aim of this analysis is to present the Microsoft SQL Server capabilities, functionalities and services dedicated for the BI purposes. The overview is provided with simple comprehensive analysis of selected environment components indicating their relevance to the particular company requirements. The summary of the significance of using Microsoft SQL Server software is the review of selected services.

    Many different kinds of automation are saving great amount of time and money in e-commerce. This paper gives an overview of the current applications and future of robots in e-commerce and discusses the various factors that that are important to choosing the best approach in ‘last-mile-delivery’. It discusses advantages and disadvantages of autonomous vehicles, questions about safety and reliability and marketing effect. Automation at earlier stages of supply chain, less visible for clients has more impact on delivery process economics.

    In this paper, the organisation of warehousing and warehouse management in one of the leading Dairy Cooperatives in Poland, hereinafter referred to as “Dairy Cooperative Y” have been investigated. The selection of the Cooperative was made in a conscious and targeted manner. The main objective of the paper was to determine the role of warehouse management in the operation of an enterprise from the agribusiness sector. Data were collected on the basis of an interview with the employees of the enterprises. The data related to the year 2011. The indicator analysis shows that the warehouse management of the cooperative is quite good, and the company is a well-organised unit which successfully implements production and shipment plans and shows a high quality of customer support.

    Opis:
    This paper is an attempt to identify and analyse disruptions that occur in the warehouse processes in the selected distribution centre of the food industry. The food sector has been briefly discussed and the distribution centre role within the distribution network as a link between suppliers, producers and consignees shown. Distribution centres play special role in the logistics and are the source of many benefits such as reduction of logistics costs, time cycles and stock as well as increase in the level of customer service quality. They also create value within the chain [Tomczak 2014]. In order to correctly implement the tasks put before a distribution centre, the warehouse processes taking place inside it should be performed efficiently and effectively. The performed A3 report has shown the potential disruptions that may affect the correctness of the warehouse processes implementation within the analysed distribution centre. The paper proposes improvements of the warehouse processes.
    W opracowaniu podjęto próbę identyfikacji i analizy zakłóceń, które występują w procesach magazynowych w wybranym centrum dystrybucji z branży spożywczej. Opisano branżę spożywczą w Polsce oraz ukazano rolę centrum dystrybucji w sieci dystrybucji jako łącznika dostawców i producentów z odbiorcami. Z badań wynika, że centra dystrybucyjne odgrywają szczególną rolę w logistyce, przynosząc tym samym wiele korzyści w postaci redukcji kosztów logistyki, cykli czasowych oraz zapasów, a także wzrostu poziomu obsługi klienta i tworzenie wartości w łańcuchu [Tomczak 2014]. Aby móc prawidłowo realizować zadania, jakie stoją przed centrum dystrybucji, procesy magazynowe w nim zachodzące powinny być wykonywane sprawnie i efektywnie. Przeprowadzony raport A3 ukazał potencjalne zakłócenia, jakie mogą wpływać na poprawność realizacji procesów magazynowych w analizowanym centrum dystrybucji. W artykule zaproponowano usprawnienia procesów magazynowania.

    In the paper, an evaluation of the efficiency of the application of ERP class integrated systems and BI tools was carried out, through analysis of two cases micro-and-small enterprises (MSEs). An analysis of the observed successes allowed precise definition of key factors in their successes or failures, in the scope of the efficiency of BI tools application in management. Confirmed rules for guaranteeing of unconditional compatibility of the contents of data warehouses with the transactional databases are, in the opinion of the author, a necessary condition for long-term success with BI application in decisions-making processes. The solutions proposed in the paper for a data processing organisation system were effectively verified over several years’ use at the POZKAL printing house in Inowroclaw. Such solutions force compatibility of transactional databases with data warehouse contents, an area often underestimated by the authors of other publications in this area.
