Opis:
Enzyme activities in soils are influenced by soil characteristics and pollutants and could be indicator of soil quality. This study was undertaken to determine the relationship between physicochemical characteristics, heavy metals contents and enzyme activities (EA) in agricultural soils in the Saiss plain (Morocco). The analysis of six agricultural soil samples (sites 1–6), collected from urban and periurban agricultural soils of Fez region, showed that soils are generally alkaline with high CaCO3 that rich 46%, EC (525–703 μS/cm), rich in organic matter (3.14–5.80%). The Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn concentrations in the studied area are generally greater than the Upper Continental Crust, with a deceasing order: Zn> Cr> Pb> Cu> Ni. Geo-accumulation index showed that soils are unpolluted to moderately polluted except site 5 and site 6 that are moderately to strongly polluted by respectively Cu, Pb, Zn and Pb. Potential ecological rіsk factors were below 40, which means low potential ecological rіsk except site 5 that has moderate potential ecological risk by Cu and Pb. Soil potential ecological risk indices were found <150 indicating low ecological risk. According to this index, Cu caused more serious pollution than the other elements. The enzyme actіvities of the sіx soil samples showed almost the similar ranges of values. These EA showed the highest values in site 5.The sensіtivity of soil enzyme to heavy metals were observed UREA>PHOS>GALA. Pearson’s correlation showed significant posіtive correlatіon between studied soil EA and between these EA and heavy metals (Cu, Pb and Zn), and significant negative correlatіon between EA and heavy metals (Cr and Ni). The results of this study enrich and provide data base of the impact of heavy metals on soil enzyme actіvities in agrіcultural soils in the Saiss plain.

The aim of the study was to estimate the effect of actinomycetes of genus Streptomyces on the growth of the antagonistic fungus Trichoderma koningii. 150 strains of Streptomyces spp. isolated from two potato cropping systems were used to the tests. Analyses were conducted experimentally in vitro on PDA medium with pH 6 and 7. The results obtained clearly indicate the inhibitory effect of actinomycetes on the fungus T. koningii. Of the tested population of actinomycetes only two strains did not inhibit the growth of the tested fungus. The strains from the rhizosphere of potato cultivated under the ecological system were predominant in the group of actinomycetes with a very strong effect. pH value appeared to be a crucial factor influencing the inhibition zone. High antagonistic activity in relation to the useful fungus T. koningii noted with numerous strains of Streptomyces spp. is unfavorable in respect of biological control.

An experiment involving vegetation pots was conducted to assess the effect of inoculating the soil with the Rhizocell C biopreparation, which includes bacteria from the genus Bacillus amyloliquefaciens IT45, on the number and activity of selected groups of soil microorganisms. The biopreparation was applied in strawberries (Fragaria × ananasa Duch.) in a dose recommended by the manufacturer. Microbiological analyses were conducted four times during the vegetation of plants. The obtained results led to a conclusion that the use of biopreparation affects biological activity of soil, and a majority of the observed changes were beneficial. The mean number of the most microorganisms after Rhizocell C biopreparation was higher than in the control object. Soil inoculation had an influence on the activity of microorganisms determined based on biomass content, but the differences were not significant.

Opis:
In the two-factorial vegetation experiment, the activity of dehydrogenase, phosphatase and urease was examined under the influence of the applied sludge-ash granulates produced from waste (sewage sludge, ash, sawdust). The research scheme included a control object, four types of fertilizer granulates, three doses and four dates of enzymatic activity indicators determination. The experiment was established in four replications. The size of granulate doses was determined on the basis of their nitrogen content. Dose I, II and III were: 0.24 g, 0.48 g and 0.72 g N•pot, respectively. The test plant was rapeseed of Larissa cultivar. The sludge-ash granulates were applied to the pots filled with the soil, in accordance with the experimental scheme. The soil samples for chemical analyses were taken from the top layer (0–20 cm) of spring rape cultivation four times: May 16, June 2, July 2 – dates from I to III, respectively, and August 2 after harvest – date IV. In average soil samples, the enzymatic activity of dehydrogenase, urease and phosphatase was determined. The research revealed that the highest increase in enzymatic dehydrogenase activity was obtained after applying granulate B, while phosphatases and urease after the application of granulate D. The smallest increase in dehydrogenase and phosphatase activity was obtained after the application of granulate C. The dose size of the applied granulates and date of uptake had a significant impact on the growth activity of the enzymes studied. The activity of dehydrogenase, phosphatases and urease, depending on the type of applied granulate, dose and date of soil sampling, was on average 7.28%, 30.5% and 7.94% higher, respectively, compared to the control. The correlation coefficient between dehydrogenase activity and urease and phosphatase was positively associated and amounted to r = 0.569 and r = 0.553, respectively. The applied fertilization with sludge-ash granulates A, B, C and D stimulated the increase in dehydrogenase, urease, and phosphatase activities in all fertilizer objects.

Opis:
The aim of this work was to investigate the influence of fresh and thermally treated sewage sludge on the amylolytical activity of the urban soils. Two experimental areas on the lawns along the main roads of Bialystok were prepared in 2011 and 2015. The factors taken into account in the experiment involved: the type of sewage sludge (mechanically dewatered – SS and thermally dried “Granbial” – G), three doses of sewage sludge (0 – control; 14.5 and 29 t DM/ha) and two grass mixtures (Eko and Roadside). The number of amylolytic bacteria in grass mixtures and rhizosphere and amylase activity in soil were monitored twice during 2011 and 2012 vegetation season (in July and October). The main properties of soil (soil pH, granulometric composition, total organic carbon – TOC, available phosphorus and total nitrogen content) after the application of organic substrates were also analysed. Addition of the dewatered sewage sludge to soil resulted in an increase in the number of amylolytic bacteria (from 7.4 to 18.8 ∙106 cfu/g DM) in July, while in the soil treatment with thermally dried sludge, the increased number of the bacteria (from 11.03 to 44.68 ∙106 cfu/g DM) was observed in October. The amylases activity in the soil treated with SS exhibited the highest average value in July (2.11 mg Glc/g DM ∙24 h), while in the soil treated with “Granbial”, it was stable in studied period (from 1.65 to 2.18 mg Glc/g DM ∙24 h).

Opis:
The T. inhamatum F6–2014 fungus was isolated from the black soils of Northern Kazakhstan in stationary experiments with many years of herbicide use. The research was aimed at studying the biodegrading activity of T. inhamatum in relation to an herbicide with the glyphosate active ingredient, both in vitro and in situ. Under the laboratory conditions, the highest growth rate of a colony of T. inhamatum was observed in the reference variant, and reached 49.0 ± 2.5 mm. During the field experiments, a significant increase was noted in the microbial biomass (MB) on the first day in the herbicidal variants and ranged from 239.2 to 322.8 µg/g of soil. On the 15th day, the level of MB in all herbicide variants increased 1.6–2.1 times, and in the reference – 2.3 times. By the second month, the level of MB reduced 1.5–2.0 times in all variants. By the third month of the studies, the greatest MB decrease was noted in the reference – 82.8 µg/g. The level of urease activity during the first day in all variants, including the reference, ranged between 0.12–0.15 mg/g of soil. On the 15th day, a significant (3.3 times) increase in the urease activity was noted in the variants with glyphosate, compared to the reference. Subsequently, the difference in the level of enzyme activity was insignificant between the variants. The MB and the urease activity in the first fifteen days increase due to the more active decomposition of glyphosate by strain.

Opis:
W glebach wokół wszystkich testowanych śmietników stwierdzono kilkakrotnie większą aktywność dehydrogenaz, fosfataz i ureazy oraz kilkakrotnie większą zawartość azotu amonowego i przyswajalnych form fosforu niż w glebie z trawnika. Wiązało się to z dopływem do środowiska glebowego odpadów pochodzenia organicznego. Wykazano również tendencję do nagromadzania metali ciężkich w glebach otaczających wytypowane śmietniki.
In this study, an attempt was made to assess the effects of municipal refuse container sheds on some chemical and biochemical properties of soils. This assessment was made on the basis of selected chemical and biochemical indicators reflecting specific processes of the soil ecosystem. The study covered five residential district refuse sheds located within the town of Łęczna in Lubelskie Voivodeship. Soil samples from a plot located 800–1200 m from the selected refuse sheds served as reference. The activity of dehydrogenases, phosphatases and urease and content of ammonia nitrogen and absorbable forms of nitrogen were observed to be several times higher in soils around the studied sheds than in the reference soil. This was related to the flow of waste of organic origin into the soil environment. Tendencies of heavy metal accumulation in soils surrounding the studied sheds were also demonstrated.
