The fatigue life prediction of wire ropes has two main characteristics: a large test sample size and uncertain factors. In this paper, based on the small number of wire rope fatigue life data, the grey particle filter method has been used to realize the fatigue life prediction of wire rope under different load conditions. First, the GOM(1,1) model is constructed and the reliability life data of wire rope is predicted under small sample size. Then, P-S-N curve of the dangerous part is determined by combining the equivalent alternating stress of the dangerous part of the wire rope during the fatigue test. Subsequently, the particle filter method is used to modify P-S-N curve. Finally, the fatigue life prediction model of wire rope is obtained based on fatigue damage accumulation, which realized the fatigue life prediction under different load conditions, and the results were compared with that from the test. The results show that the proposed method is effective and has high accuracy in wire rope fatigue life prediction under single, combined loading conditions and small sample size.

For industrial and military applications, a sequence of missions would be performed with a limited break between two adjacent missions. To improve the system reliability, selective maintenance may be performed on components during the break. Most studies on selective maintenance generally use minimal repair and replacement as maintenance actions while break duration is assumed to be deterministic. However, in practical engineering, many maintenance actions are imperfect maintenance, and the break duration is stochastic due to environmental and other factors. Therefore, a selective maintenance optimization model is proposed with imperfect maintenance for stochastic break duration. The model is aimed to maximize the reliability of system successfully completing the next mission. The reinforcement learning(RL) method is applied to optimally select maintenance actions for selected components. The proposed model and the advantages of the RL are verified by three case studies verify.

Dynamic loads of the connecting bolts in a universal joint can greatly affect the bolt fatigue and fracture, as well as the machinery safety and stability. But few researches focused on those. To obtain the dynamic load characteristics of the connecting bolts in a universal joint, this paper established a flexible dynamic model for the connecting bolts. A multibody dynamic model of a universal joint is developed. The dynamic loads on the connecting bolts of the universal joint are analyzed. The influences of the preloads, speeds and loads are studied. The amplitude and frequency properities are obtained. The effect of the preload is small when the preload is in the range of 80%~120% of the standard value. The load and speed have great influence on the time- and frequency-domain dynamic loads of the bolts. The flexible dynamic model of the connecting bolt is closer to the actual situation than the rigid model since it can consider the preload and deformation of the bolts. This study can provide guidance for the fatigue life prediction of the universal shaft and its bolts.

Sensitivity analysis is used to find the key variables which have significant effect on system reliability. For a product in early design stage, it is impossible to collect sufficient samples. Thus, the probabilistic-based reliability sensitivity analysis methods are difficult to use due to the requirement of probability distribution. As an alternative, interval can be used because it only requires few samples. In this study, an effective global non-probabilistic sensitivity analysis based on adaptive Kriging model is proposed. The global accuracy Kriging model is constructed to reduce overall computational cost. Subsequently, the global non-probabilistic sensitivity analysis method is developed. Compared to existing non-probabilistic sensitivity analysis methods, the proposed method is a global non-probabilistic reliability sensitivity analysis method. The proposed method is easy to use and does not require probability distribution of the input variables. The applicability of proposed method is demonstrated via two examples.

Collecting enough samples is difficult in real applications. Several interval-based non-probabilistic reliability methods have been reported. The key of these methods is to estimate system non-probabilistic reliability index. In this paper, a new method is proposed to calculate system non-probabilistic reliability index. Kriging model is used to replace time-consuming simulations, and the efficient global optimization is used to determine the new training samples. A refinement learning function is proposed to determine the best component (or performance function) during the iterative process. The proposed refinement learning function has considered two important factors: (1) the contributions of components to system nonprobabilistic reliability index, and (2) the accuracy of the Kriging model at current iteration. Two stopping criteria are given to terminate the algorithm. The system non-probabilistic index is finally calculated based on the Kriging model and Monte Carlo simulation. Two numerical examples are given to show the applicability of the proposed method.

Opis:
The health operation of rotating machinery guarantees safety of the project. To ensure a good operating environment, current subway equipment inspections frequency is high, resulting in a waste of resources. Small abnormal changes in mechanical equipment will also contribute to the development of mechanical component defects, which will ultimately lead to the failure of the equipment. Therefore, mechanical equipment defects should be detected and diagnosed as soon as possible. Through the use of graphic processing and deep learning, this paper proposes Rmcad Framework with three aspects: condition monitoring, anomaly detection, defect early warning. Using a network algorithm, this paper proposes an improved model that has the characteristics of two-stream and multi-loss functions, which improves the accuracy of detection. Additionally, a defect warning method is constructed to improve the perception ability of equipment before failure occurs and reduce the frequency of frequent maintenance by detecting anomalies according to the degree of opening.

To reduce the maintenance cost and improve the effectiveness of the maintenance activities in series-parallel systems, a preventive maintenance (PM) decision model for series-parallel systems subject to reliability was developed. This model considered the effect of failure maintenance on PM cycle and the restriction of system reliability in maintenance decision making, thus can help decision-maker to arrange appropriate and effective maintenance activities. Finally, an example was given to validate the proposed model.

The multiple manipulators can construct a special multi-agent system with the distinction that the type can be serial or parallel according to their cooperative way. We proposed a comprehensive method to handle the problem of reliability estimation. The wide and narrow bound method are applied to calculate the interval reliability respectively when multiple manipulators work as the series system. Aims to decrease the system complexity and enhance the dynamic adjustment capability, the base frame calibration technique is presented to convert the series system to a parallel one, naturally the reliability can be improved significantly. A system composed by three manipulators is utilized as an example to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed method.

A joint optimization model of maintenance and operation of high-speed train fleets is established with the optimization objective of minimizing the total costs, considering dynamic passenger flow and maintenance resources. A new maintenance strategy CCPM (Coordinating Conflicts Preventive Maintenance) is proposed to optimize the problem. The effectiveness of the model and the strategy are verified by numerical examples. The comparison between the strategy in the paper and the existing approach proves that the new strategy is more effective and shows the importance of considering dynamic passenger flow. The model and the strategy provide decision support for the actual high-speed trains operation and maintenance program. This study also offers new ideas to the subsequent research on preventive maintenance of high-speed trains.

The performance failure and reliability of motion mechanism has a significant effect on industry reliability, operation safety and production economy. Motion precise is one of the typical performance indicators especially for motion mechanism with multibody and joints, which will be influenced by necessary joint clearance. Size of joint clearance degenerates with usage such as wear and deformation. Repeated start-stop lead to impact stress and plastic deformation for clearance joint particularly for mechanism with high load and long working cycles. Nevertheless, current research ignoring the coupling of plastic deformation and wear, which will cause a different wear process and mechanism performance failure. This study attempts to investigate the wear process and performance failure model of multibody mechanism with clearance joints considering plastic deformation and wear. Quantification of plastic deformation caused by repeated impact stress of joints is studied by formulation. Then, a novel wear process model is established on the basis of Archard model, after which performance failure indicator of motion mechanism is conducted. In case study case, a linkage motion mechanism with multi revolution joints used in industry assemble line is studied to demonstrate proposed methods and models. This investigative study provides valuable guidelines for degeneration prediction and failure or reliability analysis of motion mechanism.

The machining allowance variation is significant for the reliability of a part during the machining process. Usually, when the machining allowance of a part increases, the machining and production cost also increase. When the machining allowance decreases, the machining surface will have defects. The parts will produce manyscraps andreliability will decrease. The machining allowance of a part consists of multiple process machining allowances. To analyze the impact caused by machining allowance variation, the hidden quality loss and process machining allowance are combined through theprocess capability index (PCI). Then the asymmetric quadratic quality loss function (AQF) and quadratic exponential function (QEF) are used to analyze them. A prediction model of hidden quality loss of process machining allowance is proposed. On the premise that the quality characteristic value obeys normal function distribution, a numerical model is given and used to obtain process machining allowance-inherent reliability of the product. The actual case is used to compare and verify the two models.

Poziom niezawodności szlifierki CNC (sterowanej numerycznie) zazwyczaj ocenia się na podstawie danych o uszkodzeniach liczonych w laboratorium lub w terenie, co wymaga zmontowania szlifierki i jest metodą oceny post-factum. Aby umożliwić ocenę poziomu niezawodności szlifierki CNC na etapie projektowania, w niniejszym artykule zaproponowano metodę oceny niezawodności systemu oraz odpowiedni algorytm wykorzystujące dane dotyczące niezawodności podsystemów. Model ten wymaga klasyfikacji podsystemów, badań niezawodności, dopasowania funkcji rozkładu, oceny parametrów oraz oceny niezawodności. Wyniki obliczeń wykazały, że omawiana metoda sprawdza się i jest dokładna w porównaniu z metodą tradycyjną. Przedstawiona metoda stanowi wkład do procesu projektowania niezawodności szlifierki CNC i znajduje odniesienie do innych produktów mechatronicznych.
The reliability level of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) grinder is usually assessed by fault data counted in laboratory or in field, which needs the grinder to be assembled and it is one afterwards estimation method. To evaluate the reliability level of CNC grinder in design phrase, one system reliability assessment method and algorithm was put forward by subsystem’s reliability in this article, which needs subsystem classification, reliability test, distribution function fitting, parameters estimation and reliability assessment. The calculation result showed that the method was feasible and accurate compared with the traditional way. The method is one contribution to reliability design for CNC grinder and is one reference to other mechatronic products.

Fault diagnosis of rolling bearings is essential to ensure the proper functioning of the entire machinery and equipment. Variational mode decomposition (VMD) and neural networks have gained widespread attention in the field of bearing fault diagnosis due to their powerful feature extraction and feature learning capacity. However, past methods usually utilize experiential knowledge to determine the key parameters in the VMD and neural networks, such as the penalty factor, the smooth factor, and so on, so that generates a poor diagnostic result. To address this problem, an Adaptive Variational Mode Decomposition (AVMD) is proposed to obtain better features to construct the fault feature matrix and Sparrow probabilistic neural network (SPNN) is constructed for rolling bearing fault diagnosis. Firstly, the unknown parameters of VMD are estimated by using the genetic algorithm (GA), then the suitable features such as kurtosis and singular value entropy are extracted by automatically adjusting the parameters of VMD. Furthermore, a probabilistic neural network (PNN) is used for bearing fault diagnosis. Meanwhile, embedding the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) into PNN to obtain the optimal smoothing factor. Finally, the proposed method is tested and evaluated on a public bearing dataset and bearing tests. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can extract suitable features and achieve high diagnostic accuracy.

Individual bolt at key connection positions is prone to loose when the engine is cycle-operating under complex loads. A joint surface equivalent stiffness model is derived and developed based on the connection characteristics of bolt screwing in the multi-exciting environment of the high-pressure rotor. The model is used to analyse the effect of bolt missing at circumferential positions with the equivalent stiffness loss. Vibration experiments under both axial force and lateral impact were carried out to obtain the dynamic response feature of the multistage disk-drum simulated rotor with missing one bolt at different positions. The Spearman correlation coefficient was applied to evaluate the identification effect of different measuring points on the bolt loosening position. The study shows that the eigenfrequencies of experimental results have a consistent trend with the equivalent stiffness variation caused by single bolt missing model. This method also provides a theoretical basis for the detection of bolt deviation position with multi-exciting vibration detection.

Wind power has been widely used in the past decade because of its safety and cleanness. Double fed induction generator (DFIG), as one of the most popular wind turbine generators, suffers from degradation. Therefore, reliability assessment for this type of generator is of great significance. The DFIG can be characterized as a multi-state system (MSS) whose components have more than two states. However, due to the limited data and/or vague judgments from experts, it is difficult to obtain the accurate values of the states and thus it inevitably contains epistemic uncertainty. In this paper, the fuzzy universal generating function (FUGF) method is utilized to conduct the reliability assessment of the DFIG by describing the states using fuzzy numbers. First, the fuzzy states of the DFIG system’s components are defined and the entire system state is calculated based the system structure function. Second, all components’ states are determined as triangular fuzzy numbers (TFN) according to experts’ experiences. Finally, the reliability assessment of the DFIG based on the FUGF is conducted.
