Opis:
This study presents optimization of planetary gear train in a specific configuration. General characteristics of planetary gear trains are discussed briefly. A compound configuration for planetary gear train is selected and an optimization study is performed for this configuration. For the given input power, motor speed and overall gear ratio, modules, facewidths, teeth numbers of gears are found, satisfying the condition of minimum kinetic energy of the gear trains. In optimization, the objective is set to minimization of kinetic energy. Allowable bending stress and allowable contact stress are considered as design constraints. Minimum teeth number for a given pressure angle, center distance, recommendation on the facewidth, limitations on teeth ratios are considered as geometrical and kinematical constraints. The Matlab® Optimtool optimization toolbox is used. Results for certain operating conditions are obtained and tabulated.

Opis:
Ceria doped with trivalent cations, such as rare earth elements, is considered to be one of the most promising electrolyte materials for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells, which are an alternative to the commercially used ytrium-stabilized zirconia (YSZ). The aim of this work research is to synthesize Sm and Nd co-doped ceria materials using the Pechini method as solid electrolyte for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell. Ce_{0.75}Sm_{0.20}Nd_{0.05}O_{1.875}, Ce_{0.65}Sm_{0.20}Nd_{0.15}O_{1.825}, and Ce_{0.60}Sm_{0.20}Nd_{0.20}O_{1.80} have been chosen as target of this study. Microstructural and physical properties of the samples were characterized with X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis methods. The results of the thermogravimetry/differential thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction indicated that a single-phase fluorite structure formed at the relatively low calcination temperature of 600°C for 3 h. The two-probe ac impedance spectroscopy was used to study the total ionic conductivity of doped and co-doped ceria ceramics at 800°C. The Ce_{0.60}Sm_{0.20}Nd_{0.20}O_{1.80} sample showed maximum ionic conductivity.

The study was undertaken to check the effect of 3D sound recording and reproduction methods on performance in localization of sound source by the visually impaired and normally sighted subjects. The performance was evaluated on the basis of the ability to identify the direction from which the sound comes and the direction of its propagation. The experiment involved a test in which the subjects were exposed to sounds reproduced by two methods of spatial reproduction: binaural (headphones) and Ambisonics (loudspeaker). The binaural recordings were reproduced through two types of headphones, open and closed ones, and the recordings were made with the help of a dummy head. The recordings for loudspeaker reproduction were made with the use of two microphone matrices, Octava and Panasonic. The subjects were adults and children, including blind and VIC. They had otologically normal hearing. The test included realization of three tasks. The first concerned identification of the direction from which sound has come from an immovable source, a rattle or a drum. In the second and third task, the subjects were asked to indicate the direction of motion of the source of sound (vehicle). For the adults, the method of recording and reproduction of sound had little effect on the test results. For the VIC, a significant difference was noted between the results of headphone and loudspeaker exposure, to the advantage of the headphone exposure. The method of binaural recording and sound exposure through headphones seems much more effective for auditory training of VIC.

Nd_{0.20}Sm_{x}Ce_{0.8-x}O_{1.9-x/2} (x=0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20) rare-earth-co-doped ceria electrolytes were synthesized by polyol process. Acetate compounds of cerium and dopants (Nd, Sm) were used as starting materials and triethylene glycol was used as a solvent. Structural and ionic conductivity properties of the electrolyte systems were determined by applying characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results of X-ray diffraction indicated that a single-phase fluorite structure formed at the relatively low calcination temperature of 600°C. So, the samples were calcined at 600°C for 4 h and then sintered at 1400°C for 6 h to obtain dense ceramics (between 85 and 90%). The two-probe ac impedance spectroscopy was used to study the total ionic conductivity of doped and co-doped ceria samples. The results of the impedance spectroscopy indicate that the Nd_{0.20}Sm_{0.05}Ce_{0.75}O_{1.875} composition exhibited highest ionic conductivity value, 3.60×10¯² S cm¯¹ at 800°C.

CeO₂ ceramics doped with 20 mol.% samarium (SDC-20) were prepared through the Pechini process. The samples were calcined at 400, 700 and 1000°C. The sintering behavior of the calcined SDC-20 powders was also investigated at 1400°C for 6 h. Microstructural and physical properties of SDC-20 samples were characterized with X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetry and impedance analysis methods. The results of the thermogravimetry/differential thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction indicated that a single-phase fluorite structure formed at a relatively low calcination temperature of 400°C. It is understood from the measured ionic conductivity values that the pellet formed from the SDC-20 samples calcined at 1000°C had lower resistance of grain-boundary than those of the pellets formed from the SDC-20 samples calcined at 400 and 700°C. The maximum ionic conductivity was measured as 1.95× 10⁻² S cm⁻¹ at 800°C for the sintered SDC-20 pellet obtained from SDC-20 powders calcined at 1000°C.

In this paper, a trust region method for generalized semi-infinite programming problems is presented. The method is based on [O. Yi-gui, "A filter trust region method for solving semi-infinite programming problems", J. Appl. Math. Comput. 29, 311 (2009)]. We transformed the method from standard to generalized semi-infinite programming problems. The semismooth reformulation of the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions using nonlinear complementarity functions is used. Under some standard regularity condition from semi-infinite programming, the method is convergent globally and superlinearly. Numerical examples from generalized semi-infinite programming illustrate the performance of the proposed method.

Solution time of nonlinear constrained optimization problem depends on the number of constraints, decision variables and conditioning of decision variables space. While the numbers of constraints and decision variables are external to the optimization procedure itself, one may try to affect the conditioning of the decision variables space within the self contained optimization module. This will directly affect the ratio of convergence of an iterative, gradient based optimization routine. Another opportunity for speedup of the solution process in case of quadratic objective function lies in the chance to eliminate the decision variables least affecting the objective function, and thus decrease the optimization problem size. Elimination of decision variables is based on the singular value decomposition of the objective function. Singular values showing up as a result of such procedure indicate that certain linear combinations of original decision variables do not affect the objective function, and thus may be eliminated from further deliberations. Also if near singular values are encountered as well, even deeper reduction of the optimization problem size is still possible, but at a cost in terms of final solution quality. An idea how to improve the conditioning of decision variables space, and limit the number of decision variables in case of quadratic objective function using singular value decomposition is presented in this paper. Results of computer tests performed during minimization of quadratic objective function and subject to quadratic constraints are enclosed and discussed.

Opis:
Melt-spun ribbons were produced from the Pr₈Dy₁Fe₆₀Co₇Mn₆B₁₄Zr₁Ti₃ base alloy at the surface velocity of the cooper wheel of 30 m/s. The studies showed amorphous structure of ribbons and their soft magnetic properties. X-ray diffraction was used to determine phase constitution of all obtained samples. Annealing of ribbons caused formation of nanocomposite structure, which was a result of coexistence of hard magnetic RE₂(Fe,Co)₁₄B and soft magnetic α-Fe phases. Basic magnetic properties such as: coercivity $\text{}_{J}H_{c}$, remanence $J_{r}$ and maximum energy product $(BH)_\text{max}$ were determined from the measured hysteresis loops. The microstructure of selected specimens was observed by transmission electron microscopy technique.

Opis:
The paper presents the process and results of tests of the pattern recognition algorithm. The algorithm has been developed for the sensor to track the activity of the eyes. The study was conducted on a group of ten people. The group was selected, so that it was possible to determine the influence of gender, age, eye color, contact lenses and glasses on the result of the algorithm. The object of the study was also to optimize the pattern recognition algorithm in terms of CPU utilization. For this purpose the duration of the algorithm steps were measured as a function of the allocation of tasks to multiple processor cores.

Opis:
The impedance characteristics of the nanostructure $p-ZnGa_2Se_4//n-Si$ heterojunction diode were investigated by impedance spectroscopy method in the temperature range (303-503 K) and the frequency range (42 Hz-5 MHz). The real and imaginary parts of the complex impedance are changed with the frequency. Both are decreased with increasing temperature at the lower frequencies and are merged at the higher frequencies. The dielectrical relaxation mechanism of the diode was analyzed by the Cole-Cole plots. The Cole-Cole plots under various temperatures exhibit one relaxation mechanism. With increasing temperature, the radius of the Cole-Cole plots decreases, which suggests a mechanism of temperature-dependent on relaxation.

The aim of presented work was to study influence of preparing conditions on phase constitution and magnetic properties of the RE-Fe-B nanocomposite magnets doped with Zr. X-ray studies carried out for samples obtained under lower pressure of Ar atmosphere (0.6×10⁵ Pa) revealed higher ability to formation of nanocrystalline structure. In case of higher pressure of Ar (0.8×10⁵ Pa) it was possible to obtain full amorphous ribbon during melt-spinning process. The best magnetic properties (means the higher values of coercivity field $\text{}_{J}H_{c}$, remanence $J_{r}$ and maximum energy product $(BH)_{max})$ were measured for sample prepared with the lowest copper wheel speed 20 m/s and higher pressure of Ar (0.8×10⁵ Pa).

Opis:
In the present work the magnetic properties and phase constitution of $(Nd_{10}Fe_{67}B_{23})_{100-x}Nb_{x}$ (where x=1, 2, 3, 4) alloys in a form of ribbons were investigated. The ribbon samples were obtained by controlled atmosphere melt-spinning technique. In order to generate the nanocrystalline microstructure, ribbons were annealed at various temperatures (from 923 K to 1023 K) for 5 min. Subsequent annealing resulted in an evolution of the phase constitution accompanied by a change of their magnetic properties. The X-ray diffraction studies show presence of hard magnetic $Nd_{2}Fe_{14}B$, paramagnetic $Nd_{1+\epsilon}Fe_{4}B_{4}$ and ferromagnetic metastable $Nd_{2}Fe_{23}B_{3}$ phases. The best hard magnetic parameters were measure for annealed ribbons of the $(Nd_{10}Fe_{67}B_{23})_{96}Nb_{4}$ alloy.

The complex spin-mixing conductance of epitaxial Cu/Ni/Cu(100) systems is predicted to oscillate as a function of Ni thickness. The oscillation period is explained in terms of spin-resolved Fermi surface properties of bulk nickel. Stability of the oscillations with respect to interface Cu-Ni interdiffusion and to alloying in the Ni film is investigated as well.

In this study, a gradient-based dynamic system is constructed in order to solve a certain class of optimization problems. For this purpose, the hyperbolic penalty function is used. Firstly, the constrained optimization problem is replaced with an equivalent unconstrained optimization problem via the hyperbolic penalty function. Thereafter, the nonlinear dynamic model is defined by using the derivative of the unconstrained optimization problem with respect to decision variables. To solve the resulting differential system, a steepest descent search technique is used. Finally, some numerical examples are presented for illustrating the performance of the nonlinear hyperbolic penalty dynamic system.

In this paper, a binary variant of the teaching learning optimization technique is used to the design and thinning of linear and planar arrays. The purpose of the optimization task is to enhance the ratio directivity/sidelobe level which turns out to be having two conflicting parameters. The binary variant of the teaching learning optimization technique searches the way of exciting some selected elements. The array thinning problem requires some elements to be excited with the others having no current in them. This is a binary (ON-OFF) problem that requires an optimization technique that can handle the binary variables. The teaching learning optimization has been proposed initially to handle real valued variables. The results show good agreement between the desired and calculated radiation patterns with reduction in resource usage in terms of power consumption.
