The academic community was and still is a community of scholars taking various positions. Problematic was and still is the changing of ways we set these posi- tions in both, in relation to a long lasting academic tradition and in a much short- er period of academic activity of particular scholars. Some of these ways did show in a greater extent its own usability and some in lesser. In these remarks I make the attempt to point out those who did work out well and in some way still do and which ones should be history by now. However it is not all. Relatively recently ways of positioning of scholars occurred that are in some perspectives innovative and widely applied (also in Poland). Nevertheless they do have in the academic millieu its followers and radical opponents. The bibliometric positioning of scho- lars is one of those ways.

Opis:
Systems supporting traffic safety require precise information on a vehicle position. The paper contains a proposal for a vehicle localization system based on ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. The system allows for vehicle positioning with submeter accuracy. The paper presents a system concept and an algorithm used for position calculation. The algorithm consists in selection of a system configuration in order to decrease the positioning uncertainty. The system concept was verified with a developed system demonstrator. The paper contains a description of the devices comprising the system. Exemplary results of outdoor demonstrator tests are included and discussed. The tests confirmed efficiency and attractiveness of the proposed solution.

This paper analyses the performance of Differential Head-Related Transfer Function (DHRTF), an alternative transfer function for headphone-based virtual sound source positioning within a horizontal plane. This experimental one-channel function is used to reduce processing and avoid timbre affection while preserving signal features important for sound localisation. The use of positioning algorithm employing the DHRTF is compared to two other common positioning methods: amplitude panning and HRTF processing. Results of theoretical comparison and quality assessment of the methods by subjective listening tests are presented. The tests focus on distinctive aspects of the positioning methods: spatial impression, timbre affection, and loudness fluctuations. The results show that the DHRTF positioning method is applicable with very promising performance; it avoids perceptible channel coloration that occurs within the HRTF method, and it delivers spatial impression more successfully than the simple amplitude panning method.

This paper presents a mechanical positioning system for a measuring microphone designed for acoustic studies in anechoic and reverberation chambers at the Department of Mechanics and Vibroacoustics, AGH. The results are discussed in the context of mechanical positioning and its impact on the outcome of the execution of individual measurement procedures. Moreover, areas for research were identified and solution concepts shown for further development of the automation of acoustic measurements in different research rooms in order to reduce the human involvement in them.

This paper presents the characteristic of the production of sheet metal roofing tiles. The basic problem affecting the quality of the product was identified to be the repeatability of the metal sheet positioning and the cross ribbing. A measurement and control system was proposed for controlling the movement of the metal sheet and to automatically correct positioning errors. Presented results illustrate the effects of the solutions in the industrial environment.
W pracy przedstawiono charakterystykę produkcji pokryć dachowych z blachy – blachodachówki. Wskazano podstawowe kryterium oceny jakości wyrobów: uzyskanie powtarzalności podziałki przetłoczeń poprzecznych. Przedstawiono rozwiązania układu do pomiaru przemieszczenia podawanej blachy, pomiaru podziałki przetłoczeń oraz rozwiązania automatycznego korygowania błędów pozycjonowania i nadzorowania linii wytwórczej. Przeprowadzono analizę efektów zastosowanych rozwiązań w warunkach przemysłowych.

The paper presents a concept of the vehicle/road infrastructure in vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication for tagging and informing vehicles about the surrounded environment. A frame analysis and the influence of the data packet size on Ultra-wideband (UWB) were investigated. The authors have determined the distance that could be traveled by a vehicle at the given speed in relation to the amount of data that has to be transmitted during the ranging procedure. The authors propose a data frame format (using the IEEE 802.15.4a protocol) for coding/encoding the information about the road infrastructure efficiently during the positioning procedure. It affects to minimum the time that is required to exchange messages during the ranging and communication process. The whole system is an efficient and reliable element that enhances/extends the existing components of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which will facilitate validation of the information obtained from devices such as lidar, radar or video. The impact of the transmitted payload to the distance traveled by car opens the door to future research on the possibility of implementing efficient vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication for autonomous driving or and other smart city solutions.

The possibilities to improve values of the satellite orbit elements by employing the pseudo-ranges and differences of carrier phase frequencies measured at many reference GPS stations are analysed. An improvement of orbit ephemeris is achieved by solving an equation system of corrections of the pseudo-ranges and phase differences with the least-squares method. Also, equations of space coordinates of satellite orbit points expressed by ephemeris at fixed moments are used. The relation between the accuracy of the pseudo-ranges and phase differences and the accuracy of the satellite ephemeris is analysed. Formulae for estimation of the influence of the ephemeris on the measured pseudo-ranges and phase differences and for prediction of the accuracy of the pseudo-ranges and phase differences were obtained. An influence of the covariance between single orbit parameters on the accuracy of the pseudo-ranges and phase differences is detected.

In order to guarantee the accuracy of turntable angle measurement, a real-time compensation method for turntable positioning precision based on harmonic analysis is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the principle and feasibility of the real-time compensation method are analysed, and a detailed description of harmonic compensation is provided herein. Secondly, we analyse the relationships between the surface number of the polygon with the compensation order of the harmonic function and its corresponding compensation accuracy. The effects of the iterations number and the data width on calculation accuracy in the coordinate rotation digital computer (CORDIC) algorithm are analysed and the quantization models of the approximation error and rounding error of the CORDIC algorithm are established. Then, the calculation of the harmonic error function and real-time compensation processes are implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) chip. The resource occupation and time delay of the phase angle calculation and the harmonic component calculation are discussed separately. Finally, the validity of the harmonic compensation method is proven through comparing the compensation effect with that of linear interpolation and the polynomial compensation method. The influences of the compensation order, the iterations number and the data width on the compensation results are demonstrated by simulation. A test platform with a laboratory-made FPGA circuit is built to evaluate the effect of real-time compensation with the harmonic function and the positioning error compensation can be performed within 760 ns. The results confirmed the effectiveness of the harmonic compensation method, revealing an improvement of the positioning precision from 54.21ʹʹ to 1.63ʹʹ, equivalent to 96.99% reduction in positioning error.

Ship motion in the sea is a complex nonlinear kinematics. The hydrodynamic coefficients of ship model are very difficult to accurately determine. Establishing accurate mathematical model of ship motion is difficult because of changing random factors in the marine environment. Aiming at seeking a method of control to realize ship positioning, intelligent control algorithms are adopt utilizing operator's experience. Fuzzy controller and the neural network controller are respectively designed. Through simulations and experiments, intelligent control algorithm can deal with the complex nonlinear motion, and has good robustness. The ship dynamic positioning system with neural network control has high positioning accuracy and performance.

This paper presents the comparison of filtering methods – median filtration, moving average Kalman filtration and filtration based on a distance difference to determine the most accurate arm length for circular motion, as a model of wind turbine propellers movement. The experiments have been performed with the UWB technology system containing four anchors and a tag attached to 90 cm arm that was rotated with speed up to 15.5 rad/s (as a linear speed of 50 km/h). The trilateration concept based on the signal latency has been described in order to determinate the position of an object on circular trajectory. The main objective is the circle plane rotation (parallel and perpendicular) with respect to the anchors plane reference system. All research tasks have been performed for various cases of motion schemes in order to get the filtration method for object in motion under best accuracy goal. Filtration methods have been applied on one of two stages of the positioning algorithm: (1) on raw data got from the single anchor-tag (before trilateration); (2) on the position obtained from four anchors and tag (after trilateration). It has been proven that the appropriate filtering allows for higher location accuracy. Moreover, location capabilities with the use of UWB technology – shows prospective use of positioning of objects without access to other positioning forms (ex. GPS) in many aspects of life such as currently developing renewable, green energy sources like wind turbines where the circular motion plays an important role, and precise positioning of propellers is a key element in monitoring the work of the whole wind turbine.

The paper presents a method of obtaining short-term positioning accuracy based on micro electro-mechanical system (MEMS) sensors and analysis of the results. A high-accuracy and fast-positioning algorithm must be included due to the high risk of accidents in cities in the future, especially when autonomous objects are taken into account. High-level positioning systems should consider a number of sub-systems such as global positioning system (GPS), CCTV – video analysis, a system based on analysis of signal strength of access points (AP), etc. Short-term positioning means that there are other locating systems with a sufficiently high degree of accuracy based on, e.g. a video camera, but the located object can disappear when it is hidden by other objects, e.g. people, things, shelves etc. In such a case, MEMS sensors can be employed as a positioning system. The paper examines typical movement profiles of a radio-controlled (RC) model and fundamental filtering methods in respect of position accuracy. The authors evaluate the complexity and delay of the filter and the accuracy of the positioning in respect of the current speed and phase of movement (positive acceleration, constant) of the object. It is necessary to know whether and how the length of the filter changes the position accuracy. It has been shown that the use of fundamental filters, which provide solutions in a short time, enables to locate objects with a small error in a limited time.

Presently, digitalization is causing continuous transformation of industrial processes. However, it does pose challenges like spatially contextualizing data from industrial processes. There are various methods for calculating and delivering real-time location data. Indoor positioning systems (IPS) are one such method, used to locate objects and people within buildings. They have the potential to improve digital industrial processes, but they are currently underutilized. In addition, augmented reality (AR) is a critical technology in today’s digital industrial transformation. This article aims to investigate the use of IPS and AR in manufacturing, the methodologies and technologies employed, the issues and limitations encountered, and identify future research opportunities. This study concludes that, while there have been many studies on IPS and navigation AR, there has been a dearth of research efforts in combining the two. Furthermore, because controlled environments may not expose users to the practical issues they may face, more research in a real-world manufacturing environment is required to produce more reliable and sustainable results.

In the paper, the authors present a proposal for modelling the process of positioning of a stream of unit loads in axis of conveyor (e.g. belt conveyor, roller conveyor) realized by means of two directionally-oriented friction force fields. It was accepted during modelling, that the positioning process of loads is aided by additional zone of friction (introduced between oblique friction force fields) forcing the objects motion in accordance with direction of transportation velocity of conveyor. The purpose of presented research is assessment of influence of the constructional and exploational parameters of roller manipulator on positioning precision of unit loads.
W artykule przedstawiono propozycję modelowania przebiegu procesu pozycjonowania strumienia ładunków jednostkowych w osi przenośnika (np. taśmowego, rolkowego) układem dwóch kierunkowo zorientowanych pól sił tarcia. Podczas modelowania przyjęto, iż proces pozycjonowania ładunków wspomagany jest przez dodatkową strefę tarcia (wprowadzoną pomiędzy skośne pola sił tarcia) wymuszającą ruch ładunków zgodnie z kierunkiem prędkości unoszenia przenośnika. Zadaniem prowadzonych badań jest określenie wpływu parametrów konstrukcyjnych i eksploatacyjnych manipulatora rolkowego na precyzję pozycjonowania potoku ładunków.

The paper presents the results of the project which examines the level of accuracy that can be achieved in precision indoor positioning by using a pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) method. This project is focused on estimating the position using step detection technique based on foot-mounted IMU. The approach is sensor-fusion by using accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers after initial alignment is completed. By estimating and compensating the drift errors in each step, the proposed method can reduce errors during the footsteps. There is an advantage of the step detection combined with ZUPT and ZARU for calculating the actual position, distance travelled and estimating the IMU sensors’ inherent accumulated error by EKF. Based on the above discussion, all algorithms are derived in detail in the paper. Several tests with an Xsens IMU device have been performed in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The final results show that the dead reckoning positioning average position error did not exceed 0.88 m (0.2% to 1.73% of the total traveled distance – normally ranges from 0.3% to 10%), what is very promising for future handheld indoor navigation systems that can be used in large office buildings, malls, museums, hospitals, etc.

This elaboration presents the method of virtual positioning of the construction of an endoprosthesis of hip joint in a patient's pelvis and femoral bone, reconstructed on the basis of imaging obtained from computer tomography. It is based on the matching of an implant to individual anatomical-biomechanical conditions. The method is established on the following procedures: diagnostic, spatial modeling, virtual measuring and targeted biometrological application for the model of bone structures. The final effect of the completed procedures is selection and optimal positioning of the endoprosthesis of hip joint before a planned medical intervention. The determined geometrical parameters of bone structures and settled positioning of the endoprosthesis can create data for the system of computer navigation.
