Opis:
Arbitrary and random motion of mobile ad hoc network nodes while communicating results in frequent topology changes and multiple disconnections of links. This dynamic environment challenges the routing of data from the source to the destination and imposes the need for prediction models to track these changes, and then determine future topology of the network. The prediction of network mobility into the future will reduce the frequency of location updates for geographical routing protocols. Moreover it will reduce route request delay and the frequency of route updates in topology based protocols. This paper proposes a predictive model called polynomial regression trajectory estimation. This model is based on the regular behavior of nodes and uses polynomial regression to allow each mobile node to estimate its future locations as a function of time. The estimated locations will be disseminated to the network so that nodes can use them to estimate the future topologies of the entire network. The efficiency of the proposed model has been evaluated by MATLAB simulation.

The article shows the methodology and calculation procedures based on Lagrange polynomial interpolation which were used to determine standard performance characteristics of the Polish production engine, type ANDORIA 4CTi90-1BE6. They allow to simplify the experimental research by maintaining a minimum number of measurement points and estimating the remaining data in an analytical way. The methods presented are convenient when it comes to the practical side because they eliminate the need for exploration of mathematical equations describing the various curves, which can be cumbersome and time consuming in the case of nonautomated accounts. The results of analysis were applied to actual experimental results, indicating sufficient accuracy of the resulting approximations. As a result, procedures may be used in bench testing of a similar profile, especially with repeated cycles of the experiment, such as optimization of operating parameters of combustion engines.

The paper deals with the solution of problems that concern fractional time derivatives. Specifically the author’s interest lies in solving circuit problems with so called fractional capacitors and fractional inductors. A numerical method is proposed that involves polynomial interpolation and the division of the entire time interval (for which computations are performed) into subintervals. Analytical formulae are derived for the integro-differentiation according to the Caputo fractional derivative. The rules that concern the subinterval dynamics throughout the computation are also presented in the paper. For exemplary linear circuit problems (AC and transient) involving fractional order elements the solutions have been obtained. These solutions are compared with ones obtained by means of traditional methods.

Opis:
In the paper a transformation between two height datums (Kronstadt’60 and Kronstadt’86, the latter being a part of the present National Spatial Reference System in Poland) with the use of geostatistical method - kriging is presented. As the height differences between the two datums reveal visible trend a natural decision is to use the kind of kriging method that takes into account nonstationarity in the average behavior of the spatial process (height differences between the two datums). Hence, two methods were applied: hybrid technique (a method combining Trend Surface Analysis with ordinary kriging on least squares residuals) and universal kriging. The background of the two methods has been presented. The two methods were compared with respect to the prediction capabilities in a process of crossvalidation and additionally they were compared to the results obtained by applying a polynomial regression transformation model. The results obtained within this study prove that the structure hidden in the residual part of the model and used in kriging methods may improve prediction capabilities of the transformation model.

The main goal of the paper is the Bayesian analysis of weak form polynomial serial correlation common features together with cointegration. In the VEC model the serial correlation common feature leads to an additional reduced rank restriction imposed on the model parameters. After the introduction and discussion of the model, the methods will be illustrated with an empirical investigation of the price-wage nexus in the Polish economy. Additionally, consequences of imposing such additional short-run restrictions for permanent-transitory decomposition will be discussed.

In the paper the idea of rational polynomial windows optimised towards low level of Fourier spectrum's sidelobes is presented. A relevant advantage of the polynomial windows family and their modifications is their ability to easily change their properties changing only the values of the polynomial coefficients. The obtained frequency characteristics demonstrate better properties of proposed rational Windows than their standard polynomial equivalents requiring only the additional division operation. Such approach does not increase the computational complexity in significant way and the great advantage of polynomial windows which is their low computational complexity is preserved.

Opis:
Schemes are presented for calculating tuples of solutions of matrix polynomial equations using continued fractions. Despite the fact that the simplest matrix equations were solved in the second half of the 19th century, and the problem of multiplier decomposition was then deeply analysed, many tasks in this area have not yet been solved. Therefore, the construction of computer schemes for calculating the sequences of solutions is proposed in this work. The second-order matrix equations can be solved by a matrix chain function or iterative method. The results of the numerical experiment using the MatLab package for a given number of iterations are presented. A similar calculation is done for a symmetric square matrix equation of the 2nd order. Also, for the discrete (time) Riccati equation, as its analytical solution cannot be performed yet, we propose constructing its own special scheme of development of the solution in the matrix continued fraction. Next, matrix equations of the n-th order, matrix polynomial equations of the order of non-canonical form, and finally, the conditions for the termination of the iterative process in solving matrix equations by branched continued fractions and the criteria of convergence of matrix branching chain fractions to solutions are discussed.

In order to enhance the acoustical performance of a traditional straight-path automobile muffler, a multi-chamber muffler having reverse paths is presented. Here, the muffler is composed of two internally parallel/extended tubes and one internally extended outlet. In addition, to prevent noise transmission from the muffler’s casing, the muffler’s shell is also lined with sound absorbing material. Because the geometry of an automotive muffler is complicated, using an analytic method to predict a muffler’s acoustical performance is difficult; therefore, COMSOL, a finite element analysis software, is adopted to estimate the automotive muffler’s sound transmission loss. However, optimizing the shape of a complicated muffler using an optimizer linked to the Finite Element Method (FEM) is time-consuming. Therefore, in order to facilitate the muffler’s optimization, a simplified mathematical model used as an objective function (or fitness function) during the optimization process is presented. Here, the objective function can be established by using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) in conjunction with the muffler’s design parameters and related TLs (simulated by FEM). With this, the muffler’s optimization can proceed by linking the objective function to an optimizer, a Genetic Algorithm (GA). Consequently, the discharged muffler which is optimally shaped will improve the automotive exhaust noise.

Opis:
Vehicle parameters have a significant impact on handling, stability, and rollover propensity. This study demonstrates two methods that estimate the inertia values of a ground vehicle in real-time. Through the use of the Generalized Polynomial Chaos (gPC) technique for propagating the uncertainties, the uncertain vehicle model outputs a probability density function for each of the variables. These probability density functions (PDFs) can be used to estimate the values of the parameters through several statistical methods. The method used here is the Maximum A-Posteriori (MAP) estimate. The MAP estimate maximizes the distribution of P(β ׀z) where β is the vector of the PDFs of the parameters and z is the measurable sensor comparison. An alternative method is the application of an adaptive filtering method. The Kalman Filter is an example of an adaptive filter. This method, when blended with the gPC theory is capable at each time step of updating the PDFs of the parameter distributions. These PDF’s have their median values shifted by the filter to approximate the actual values.
W pracy zastosowano metodę maksymalnego estymatora a posteriori (MAP). Estymator MAP maksymalizuje funkcję rozkładu P(β ׀z), gdzie β jest wektorem funkcji gęstości prawdopodobieństwa parametrów, a z jest wielkością mierzalną, otrzymaną z porównania wyjść czujników. Metodą alternatywną jest zastosowanie filtru adaptacyjnego, którego przykładem jest filtr Kalmana. Metoda ta, w połączeniu z techniką uogólnionego chaosu wielomianowego (gPC), umożliwia, w każdym kroku adaptacji, uaktualnianie funkcji gęstości prawdopodobieństwa (PDF) parametrów systemu. Działanie filtru powoduje, że mediany tych funkcji zmieniają się dążąc do rzeczywistych wartości poszukiwanych parametrów.

This paper takes advantage of nonuniqueness of the inverse problem for nonsquare transfer function matrices of multivariable systems in order to select such poles, if any, of a minimum variance control system that can either guarantee its closed-loop stability or provide (a sort of) robustness to the control system. As a result, new pole-free and stable-pole MVC designs are offered for nonsquare LTI MIMO systems, the most general of them utilizing the Smith-factorization approach and the so-called control zeros. The new designs contribute to an illustration and extension of the Davison’s theory of (nonsquare) minimum phase systems, in that the lack or presence of (appropriate) control zeros can provide a required performance to the MVC system. Simulation examples in the Matlab/Simulink environment confirm the potential of the control zeros and their impact on redefinition of the minimum phase property.

This paper presents a digraph-building method designed to find the determination of realization of two-dimensional dynamic system. The main differences between the method proposed and other state-of-the-art solutions used include finding a set of realizations (belonging to a defined class) instead of only one realization, and the fact that obtained realizations have minimal size of state matrices. In the article, the proposed method is described, compared to state-of-the-art methods and illustrated with numerical examples. To the best of authors’ knowledge, the method shown in the paper is superior to all other state-of-the-art solutions both in terms of number of solutions and their matrix size.
