Opis:
This is a reprint of an archival text by Jan Lutyński, an outstanding Polish sociologist, founder of the Łódź school of methodology, and co-founder of the Polish Sociological Association. The text is devoted to the imperfections of the political system in Poland in the 1970s–1980s and their negative social consequences in the form of “apparent activities.” On the thirtieth anniversary of Professor Lutyński’s death, the essay is worth re-reading as it is still topical and has inspired many authors.

Opis:
The main objective of this present paper is the study of the Shunt Active Power Filter (APF) compensations capability for different perturbations in AC power system such as current unbalance, phase shift current and undesired harmonics generated by nonlinear load and/or by the power system voltage. This capability is determined by the maximum rate of the apparent power that can be delivered. This study is based on the definition of the effective apparent power as defined in IEEE 1459-2000 which was proved to be the suitable amount to be concerned in the design process of different devices.

Opis:
The article presents the results of selected energy parameters calculations, carried out for the recorded values of instantaneous voltages and currents in the three-phase power supply of the model vibratory unit. The parameters were the values of active and apparent power taken from the drive consisting of two electric motors supplied by the inverter for selected frequency settings and directly from the power grid. In addition, calculations of tgφ power factor values were made to evaluate the compensation of reactive power consumption in the tested power systems. Measurements and calculations lead to the conclusion that if the frequency of the inverter output voltage rises, the active and apparent power consumed by the model vibratory drive unit increases. The active and apparent power for setting the output frequency of the inverter from 50 Hz was less than the active and apparent power taken by the model vibratory unit that was powered directly from the power grid. The power factor tgφ in the power supply system was approximately 6, except one case (f = 30 Hz).

W artykule przedstawione zostały „prawa widzenia” budowli w przestrzeni krajobrazu opisane w jednym z pierwszych polskojęzycznych podręczników z dziedziny architektury i budownictwa, napisanym i wydanym w 1812 roku w Krakowie przez Sebastiana Alojzego Sierakowskiego (1743–1824) - duchownego, architekta i naukowca, sprawującego ważne urzędy publiczne w odchodzącej w przeszłość dawnej Polsce przełomu XVIII i XIX wieku. Opisane sugestywnym i barwnym językiem zasady percepcji obiektów tworzą rodzaj oryginalnego zbioru reguł odwołujących się do pojęć z zakresu optyki, perspektywy i kompozycji, które zasługują na uważną analizę i odczytanie na nowo w kontekście trwających dyskusji nad stanem polskiego krajobrazu i systemem planowania miast.
This paper presents the ‘precepts of perception’ of buildings observed in the space of the landscape that were described in one of the first Polish-language handbooks on architecture and construction published in Krakow in 1812 by Sebastian Alojzy Sierakowski (1743–1824)-a clergyman, architect and scientist, as well as a statesman holding important public positions during the turn of the nineteenth century in what was becoming historical Poland. Sierakowski’s principles of building perception-described in suggestive and colourful language—created a kind of original set of rules referring to optics, perspective and composition, that deserve careful analysis and re-reading in the present times of ongoing discourse on the condition of the Polish landscape and city planning system.

Opis:
The study discusses the issues connected with the production of thin-walled ceramic slurry in the replicast cs technology. In the ceramic mould production process, a special role is played by the liquid ceramic slurry used to produce the first layer of the mould. The study examines selected technological properties of liquid ceramic slurries used to produce moulds in the replicas cs technology. The ceramic slurries for the tests were prepared based on the binders Ludox Px30 and Sizol 030, enriched with Refracourse flour. The wettability of the pattern's surface by the liquid ceramic slurry and the dependence of the apparent viscosity on the ceramic flour content in the mixture were determined. The wettability of the pattern surface by the liquid ceramic slurry was determined based on the measurement of the wetting angle. The angle was determined by means of an analysis of the computer image obtained with the use of a CDC camera.

Opis:
This paper presents a new form of a mathematical estimation of stochastic bio-hydrodynamic lubrication parameters for real human joint surfaces with phospholipid bilayers. In this work, the authors present the analytical and stochastic considerations, which are based on the measurements of human joint surfaces. The gap is restricted between two cooperating biological surfaces. After numerous experimental measurements, it directly follows that the random symmetrical as well as unsymmetrical increments and decrements of the gap height in human joints influence the hydrodynamic pressure, load-carrying capacity, friction forces, and wear of the cooperating cartilage surfaces in human joints. The main focus of the paper was to demonstrate the influence of variations in the expected values and standard deviation of human joint gap height on the hydrodynamic lubrication parameters occurring in the human joint. It is very important to notice that the new form of apparent dynamic viscosity of synovial fluid formulated by the authors depends on ultra-thin gap height variations. Moreover, evident connection was observed between the apparent dynamic viscosity and the properties of cartilage surface coated by phospholipid cells. The above observations indicate an indirect impact of stochastic changes in the height of the gap and the indirect impact of random changes in the properties of the joint surface coated with the phospholipid layers, on the value of hydrodynamic pressure, load carrying capacity and friction forces. In this paper the authors present a synthetic, comprehensive estimation of stochastic bio-hydrodynamic lubrication parameters for the cooperating, rotational cartilage bio-surfaces with phospholipid bilayers occurring in human joints. The new results presented in this paper were obtained taking into account 3D variations in the dynamic viscosity of synovial fluid, particularly random variations crosswise the film thickness for non-Newtonian synovial fluid properties. According to the authors’ knowledge, the obtained results are widely applicable in spatiotemporal models in biology and health science.
