Opis:
This paper is devoted to machining of concrete by grinding and the metrology of its surface morphologies. The surface morphology is still open problem from metrological as well as mathematical morphology points of views. In order to understand better abrasive process the raw morphologic state is compared with the ground concrete surfaces. The most significant results are presented in the form of profiles, 3D isometric views and isotropy analysis. Several 3D surface roughness parameters were calculated.

Opis:
The article presents the results of non-destructive testing and analyses carried out for a brick masonry building from the 19th century, which has many irregularities that involve a lack of inspections and tests of its technical condition for many years, as well as a failure to carry out necessary repairs. The conducted organoleptic tests enabled the most significant building damage to be indicated, and its causes were determined on the basis of the results of non-destructive tests and analyses. These causes include mainly wall cracks, ceiling deflections and excessive dampness. It also contains the relationships, which were developed using non-destructive dielectric and resistive methods when testing the moisture content of the brick walls. These results may be useful for other researchers dealing with brick masonry buildings from a similar period of time. The authors' intention was to present the existing poor technical condition of the brick masonry building and indicate its causes, as well as to present that a lack of appropriate maintenance can lead to a situation in which the life or health of residents is threatened.

Opis:
This paper proposes a comprehensive classification of test methods for the diagnosis of concrete structures. The main focus is on the ranges of suitability of the particular methods and techniques for assessing the durability of structures, depending on the principal degradation mechanisms and their effects on this durability. The survey covers non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, which do not in any way breach the integrity of the tested structures, and semi-destructive testing (SDT) methods requiring material samples to be taken or any other minor breach of structural integrity. An original taxonomy of physical, chemical and biological diagnostic methods, useful in assessment of concrete structures durability, is proposed. Equipment specific for selected advanced testing methods is presented as well as exemplary test results.

Opis:
The paper presents examinations of the surface of base concrete with a 3D scanner. Two base concrete surfaces, differently prepared, were examined, together with two measurement strategies: simple and fast 3D scanning and partial scanning in selected areas corresponding to the device measurement space. In order to complete the analysis of a concrete surface topography an original Matlab-based program TAS (Topography Analysis and Simulation) was developed for both 2D and 3D surface analyses. It enables data processing, calculation of parameters, data visualization and digital filtration.

Opis:
Occurrence of culturable Fungi and Oomycota in root-soil habitat of potato cv. Owacja in organic and integrated production systems at Osiny (northern Poland) was compared in 2008–2010. The densities of both pathogens were significantly greater in the organic system. The eudominant fungal taxa (with frequency > 10% in at least one habitat) included species of Fusarium + Gibberella + Haematonectria, Penicillium, Phoma and Trichoderma. The dominant taxa (with frequency 5–10%) included species from 13 genera. In the rhizoplane, rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soil, the total density of potential pathogens was greater in the integrated system, and of potential antagonists in the organic system. Among eudominant and dominant pathogens, Fusarium oxysporum and Gibellulopsis nigrescens occurred at greater density in the integrated system and Haematonectria haematococca and Phoma spp. in the organic system. Among eudominant antagonists, Trichoderma species occurred at greater density in the organic system. The organic system provided more disease suppressive habitat than the integrated system. The occurrence of brown leaf spot and potato blight was however similar in both systems. The mean yield of organic potatoes (24.9 t · ha–1) was higher than the mean organic potato yield in Poland (21.0 t · ha–1) and similar to the mean in other European countries (Germany 25.1 t · ha–1, Great Britain 25.0 t · ha–1). The organic system, based on a 5-year rotation, with narrow-leafed lupin, white mustard and buckwheat as a cover crop, inorganic fertilization based on ground rock phosphate + potassium sulphate, and biological and chemical control of insects and diseases (Bacillus thuringiensis ssp. tenebrionis + copper hydroxide + copper oxychloride), may be recommended for use in central Europe.
