Opis:
The rugose coral genus Bothrophyllum Trautschold, 1879 is revised on the basis of data from the literature and the author’s personal investigation of both topotypes of its type species B. conicum and related and/or similar taxa from other areas. The intraspecific variability of the type species, its neotype, the intra-generic framework and a new generic diagnosis are established. Many more than 100 taxa related and/or similar to Bothrophyllum were analyzed and the most important of them are discussed. Detailed analysis of the type species based on the neotype and supported by additional topotype specimens illustrated here, allows restriction of both the type species and the genus, and leads to the proposition that Bothrophyllum-like taxa with a shortened cardinal septum should be considered of subgeneric (not named) status. Detailed analysis of the specimens and species described and illustrated from the type site (Myachkovo Quarry, Moscow Basin) form the basis for further considerations. On the basis of that analysis and characters established for the type species, taxa from all other European, African, Asiatic and North American areas either named Bothrophyllum or bearing characters of that genus were analyzed. The supposed origin and discussion of the relationships conclude the paper. A list of synonyms and exclusions from Bothrophyllum and lists of species included, excluded, or possibly belonging to Bothrophyllum and Bothrophyllum-like corals with a shortened cardinal septum are presented.

The paper presents a review of current achievements in the Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) in relation to its possible applications in the study of phenomena occurring in fluidised bed reactors. Reactors of that kind are being increasingly used in chemical engineering, energetics (fluidised bed boilers) or industrial dryers. However, not all phenomena in the fluidised bed have been thoroughly understood. This results in the need to explore and develop new research methods. Various aspects of ECT operation and data processing are described with their applicability in scientific research. The idea for investigation of temperature distribution in the fluidised bed, using multimodal tomography, is also introduced. Metrological requirements of process tomography such as sensitivity, resolution, and speed of data acquiring are noted.

This paper aims at presenting a concept of an integrated computer system of management in logistics, particularly in supply and distribution chains. Consequently, the paper includes the basic idea of the concept of computer-based management in logistics and components of the system, such as CAM and CIM systems in production processes, and management systems for storage, materials flow, and for managing transport, forwarding and logistics companies. The platform which integrates computer-aided management systems is that of electronic data interchange.
Celem niniejszego referatu jest zaprezentowanie koncepcji zintegrowanego systemu informatycznego zarządzania w logistyce, a w szczególności w łańcuchach zaopatrzenia i dystrybucji. Ze względu na tak przedstawiony cel referatu zawarte w nim zostaną między innymi: istota koncepcji zintegrowanego systemu informatycznego zarządzania w logistyce, komponenty tego systemu, a w tym: systemy CAM i CIM w procesach produkcyjnych, systemy zarządzania gospodarką magazynową, systemy zarządzania przepływem materiałowym, systemy zarządzania firmami logistycznymi. Platformą integrującą systemy informatyczne zarządzania jest elektroniczna wymiana informacji.

Opis:
The considerations included in the paper apply to the problem of the multi-criteria evaluation of transportation systems with constraints on delivery times in supply chains. For this reason, the identification of the transport network model and the nature of the configuration of the supply chain itself was carried out. In addition, a review of issues of the multi-criteria evaluation were done with respect to transportation systems. Later, the problem of the transport service of a distribution system were formulated and then, the results were analysed using the multi-criteria method. Finally, the paper examines the impact of the threshold of compliance and the threshold of non-compliance on of the final outcome of the solution.
Rozważania zamieszczone w artykule dotyczą problematyki wielokryterialnej oceny systemów przewozowych przy ograniczeniach na czas dostawy w łańcuchach dostaw. W tym celu dokonano identyfikacji modelu sieci transportowej oraz istoty konfigurowania samego łańcucha dostaw. Ponadto dokonano przeglądu problematyki oceny wielokryterialnej w aspekcie systemów przewozowych. W dalszej części sformułowano problem obsługi transportowej systemu dystrybucji, a następnie przeanalizowano otrzymane wyniki wykorzystując metodę wielokryterialną. W końcowej części artykułu przeanalizowano wpływ wartości progu zgodności i progu niezgodności na wynik końcowy rozwiązania.

Opis:
Spent fluorescent lamps(SFLs) such as linear type lamp, compact type lamp and U-type lamp are used to estimate mercury distribution in the components of lamps. Determination of mercury concentration in the components of spent fluorescent lamp is performed by the DMA method. Mercury concentration in the components of spent fluorescent lamp can be varied with the manufactures of lamp. Mercury portion in phosphor powder and glass from any types of spent fluorescent lamp is estimated to be higher than 99% by the analysis of mercury distribution. Through mercury distribution in the components for SFLs, the mercury concentration in phosphor powder is much higher than that in other components regardless of the type of lamp. Hence, it is desirable that phosphor powder of spent fluorescent lamps should be controlled separately and safely.

Opis:
The birth of electricity witnessed “the battle of currents” between AC and DC as a medium of power transfer. AC won the battle in the first place because of its ability to transform voltage levels. However, with the development of power electronic converters (PECs), DC is striking back. Most of the electronic loads in our conventional AC-based homes are DC by nature. Moreover, the modern concept of energy-efficient variable speed drive (VSD) based loads, i.e. DC-inverter based air-conditioners and refrigerators, require a DC link for their operation. The driving component of all such loads is the PEC. The operational efficiency of PECs depends on the loading which varies throughout the day. This paper presents a mathematical model based on a bottom-up approach to the comparative efficiency analysis of AC and DC distribution systems considering daily load variation. Two topologies are presented where AC and DC distribution systems are compared in terms of efficiency. The first topology (T1) defines a separate/independent converter for each load, whereas in the second topology (T2) loads of a particular class are lumped and driven by a single converter. The results present DC distribution better than AC distribution with an efficiency advantage of 2.28% and 1.57% for T1 and T2, respectively.

Opis:
Points of distribution, sales or service are important elements of the supply chain. These are the final elements which are responsible for proper functioning of the whole cargo distribution process. Proper location of these points in the transport network is essential to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of the supply chain. The location of these points is very important also from the consumers point of view. In this paper developed method of points location was present on the example of urban transport network. The developed approach is based on the Vehicle Routing Problem in the multistage distribution systems. The proposed method uses a genetic algorithm. Article also presents a mathematical model of delivery cost as a criterion function. The article presents an example calculations which illustrating the operation of the developed method.

In the paper we present machine learning algorithms for the problem of optimizing the distribution of parcels in stochastic time-dependent networks, which have been built as a part of some Distribution Optimization System. The problem solved was a modified VRPTW (Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows) with many warehouses, a heterogeneous fleet, travel times depending on the time of departure (stochastic time-dependent network) and an extensive cost function as an optimization criterion. To solve the problem a modified simulated annealing (SATM) algorithm has been proposed. The paper presents the results of the algorithm learning process: the calibration of input parameters and the study of the impact of parameters on the quality of the solution (calculation time, transport cost function value) depending on the type of input data. The idea is to divide the input data into classes according to a proposed classification rule and to propose several strategies for selecting the optimal set of calibration parameters. These strategies consist in solving some multi-criteria optimization tasks in which four criterion functions are used: the length of the designated routes, the computation time, the number of epochs used in the algorithm, the number of designated routes. The subproblem was building a network model of travel times that is used in constructed SATM algorithm to determine the travel time between recipients, depending on the time of departure from the start location. An attempt has been made to verify the research hypothesis that the time between two points can be estimated with sufficient accuracy depending on their geographical location and the time of departure (without reference to the micro-scale, i.e. the detailed structure of the road network). The research was conducted on two types of data for Warsaw: from transport companies and one of the Internet traffic data providers. Learning the network model of travel times has produced very promising results, which will be described in the paper.

The production of ethyl oleate, by homogenous acid esterification of oleic acid with ethanol, have discussed experimentally and via computational simulation in a plug flow reactor. An innovative simulation model has developed to predict the esterification reaction performance in an ideal plug flow reactor. The amount of H2SO4 acid catalyst, the initial molar ratio of alcohol to oleic acid, ethanol concentration, reaction temperature, and esterification time have examined their effects on ethyl oleate production and the conversion of oleic acid. Then the simulation extended to examine the esterification reaction kinetics and determine the reaction rate coefficients. The simulation results demonstrate that the increasing of H2SO4 acid, initial molar ratio of ethanol to oleic acid, ethanol concentration, and reaction temperature improved the productivity of the ethyl oleate and reduced the reactor space-time. The kinetics results illustrated that the reaction sensitivity to the temperature unchanging by using higher ethanol concentration and alcohol to oleic acid initial ratio. Lastly, the experimental yields at different conditions were slightly higher from those simulating with average values of 93.62 and 92.29%, respectively, indicating that the phenomenon of back-mixing cannot be ignored in esterification reactors, especially with a relatively high retention time within the reactor.

The author draws attention to the appearance of a new source of differentiations in Polish society at the beginning of the 1990s—the clearly perceptible and subjective sense of an uneven distribution of time. She uses the varying lifestyles and associated temporal orientations observed by Polish sociologists in the 1970s as a reference point: the conservative style, looking to the past; the innovative style, or susceptibility to change; and the ‘today’ style, that is, an orientation toward the present moment, which is systemically conditioned and predominates in various segments of society. The systemic transformation brought major alterations in attitudes to time and change. A deficit of time became more common, and yet as society accelerated sociologists were surprised to observe an increase in groups of people suffering from too much free time. This was a sign of deep social polarization: a division between successful people, who were keeping up with the changes, and were oriented toward the future—planning, and valuing time as a necessity for the realization of those plans—and marginalized people, who were not actively participating in the changes and had too much time on their hands. For both groups, the change in the distribution of time could have negative consequences. For one group, in spite of the satisfaction of achieving goals, there was fatigue, lack of family time, limited participation in cultural activities, and lack of time for reflection. For the other group, there was unused time as a cause of apathy, passivity, and a sense of social marginalization.

In the present paper, we investigate a multi-server queueing system with heterogeneous servers, unlimited memory space, and non-homogeneous customers. The arriving customers appear according to a stationary Poisson process. Service time distribution functions may be different for every server. Customers are additionally characterized by some random volume. On every server, the service time of the customer depends on their volume. The number of customers distribution function is obtained in the classical model of the system. In the model with non-homogeneous customers, the stationary total volume distribution function is determined in the term of Laplace–Stieltjes transform. The stationary first and second moments of a total customers volume are calculated. An analysis of some special cases of the model and some numerical examples are also included.

Balanced distribution of air in coal-fired boiler is one of the most important factors in the combustion process and is strongly connected to the overall system efficiency. Reliable and continuous information about combustion airflow and fuel rate is essential for achieving optimal stoichiometric ratio as well as efficient and safe operation of a boiler. Imbalances in air distribution result in reduced boiler efficiency, increased gas pollutant emission and operating problems, such as corrosion, slagging or fouling. Monitoring of air flow trends in boiler is an effective method for further analysis and can help to appoint important dependences and start optimization actions. Accurate real-time monitoring of the air distribution in boiler can bring economical, environmental and operational benefits. The paper presents a novel concept for online monitoring system of air distribution in coal-fired boiler based on real-time numerical calculations. The proposed mathematical model allows for identification of mass flow rates of secondary air to individual burners and to overfire air (OFA) nozzles. Numerical models of air and flue gas system were developed using software for power plant simulation. The correctness of the developed model was verified and validated with the reference measurement values. The presented numerical model for real-time monitoring of air distribution is capable of giving continuous determination of the complete air flows based on available digital communication system (DCS) data.

In the current work the calculations of the reaction cross-section of total fusion σ fus, the fusion barrier distribution D fus, and the probability P fus were achieved for systems ⁶He+⁶⁴Zn, ⁸B+⁵⁸Ni and ⁸He+¹⁹⁷Au which involve halo nuclei by using a semiclassical approach. The semiclassical and quantum mechanics treatments comprise the approximation of WKB for describing the relative motion among projectile nuclei and target nuclei, and the method of CDCC (Continuum Discretized Coupled Channel) for describing the intrinsic motion for the projectile and target nuclei. Our semiclassical calculations yielded findings that were compared to obtainable experimental data as well as quantum mechanics calculations. For fusion cross-sections σ fus below and above the Coulomb barrier Vb, the quantum mechanics coupled channels are very similar, according to the experimental results.

Opis:
The article concerns modern, flexible adhesive joints, which might be used in timber construction. The article discusses the test results carried out for timber elements joints using polymeric adhesives produced by Sika®. The scope of the tests includes the analysis of strength criteria, tests of polymer adhesion to the timber with a pull-off method, tests of polymer layer shearing between timber elements as well as examination of bending of timber elements joined with polymer. The conclusions indicate the types of these polymers which are recommended for the creation of polymeric joints of timber-polymeric type in timber constructions.
Dynamiczny rozwój połączeń klejowych, umożliwia ich zastosowanie już nie tylko w naprawach, czy wzmocnieniach głównie konstrukcji żelbetowych oraz murowych. Coraz częściej mówi się o zastąpieniu tradycyjnych łączników przez połączenia klejowe. Szczególnie interesujący jest rozwój połączeń na bazie polimerów w zastosowaniu w konstrukcjach drewnianych, który umożliwia eliminację lub znaczne ograniczenie występowania zjawiska koncentracji naprężeń, jak ma to miejsce w przypadku najbardziej powszechnych połączeń trzpieniowych. Szczególne znaczenie ma eliminacja tego zjawiska w obiektach drewnianych, poddanych oddziaływaniu silnych wiatrów, trzęsień ziemi, czy też dużych gradientów temperaturowych oraz wilgotności. Głównym celem artykułu jest omówienie wyników badań przeprowadzonych dla połączeń elementów drewnianych przy wykorzystaniu podatnych klejów polimerowych produkcji Sika®. Zakres badań obejmuje analizę kryteriów wytrzymałościowych, badania przyczepności polimeru do drewna metodą pull-off (na odrywanie), badania ścinania warstwy polimeru pomiędzy elementami drewnianymi oraz badania zginania elementów drewnianych zespolonych polimerem.

Opis:
This study aims to optimize the 2-cylinder in-line reciprocating compressor crankshaft. As the crankshaft is considered the "bulkiest" component of the reciprocating compressor, its weight reduction is the focus of current research for improved performance and lower cost. Therefore, achieving a lightweight crankshaft without compromising the mechanical properties is the core objective of this study. Computational analysis for the crankshaft design optimization was performed in the following steps: kinematic analysis, static analysis, fatigue analysis, topology analysis, and dynamic modal analysis. Material retention by employing topology optimization resulted in a significant amount of weight reduction. A weight reduction of approximately 13% of the original crankshaft was achieved. At the same time, design optimization results demonstrate improvement in the mechanical properties due to better stress concentration and distribution on the crankshaft. In addition, material retention would also contribute to the material cost reduction of the crankshaft. The exact 3D model of the optimized crankshaft with complete design features is the main outcome of this research. The optimization and stress analysis methodology developed in this study can be used in broader fields such as reciprocating compressors/engines, structures, piping, and aerospace industries.
