Opis:
In this paper, there are presented the main reasons and results of changes in maritime navigation. The following issues are discussed: substance of maritime navigation; the main reasons of changes in maritime naigation; integration of the ship`s navigation process and its results; the growing necessity of supervising all the human activities performed at sea and the main results from the channges in maritime navigation. This paper should be considered as further precising and developing the authors` considerations and conclusions presented in their earlier works.

Introduction to using EGNOS system made possible determining of position in navigation and measurement applications. High accuracy of determined position, at precision of system DGPS level, allowed for taking advantage of that system in hydrographic measurements. In article are presented observations from signals transmitted by EGNOS system satelIites in 2005, in the middle of operation activating, to protecting of hydrographic measurements at sea and inland areas.

Opis:
Electronic Chart Display and Information System became nowadays the main equipment for presentation of marine ship's position and perform of basic navigational tasks. There are new information systems under development like Marine Decision Support System. All systems require constant information about position of own ship and other objects in the vicinity. Information is gathered from onboard navigational systems. Integrity of that information is crucial for taking its full advantage and presentation in onboard information systems.

Opis:
An essential aspect of the safety of navigation is avoiding collisions with other vessels and natural or man made navigational obstructions. To solve this kind of problem the navigator relies on automatic anti-collision ARPA systems, or uses a geometric method and makes radar plots. In both cases radar measurements are made: bearing (or relative bearing) on the target position and distance, both naturally expressed in the polar coordinates system originating at the radar antenna. We first convert original measurements to an ortho-Cartesian coordinate system. Then we solve collision avoiding problems in rectangular planar coordinates, and the results are transformed to the polar coordinate system. This article presents a method for an analysis of a collision situation at sea performed directly in the polar coordinate system. This approach enables a simpler geometric interpretation of a collision situation.

Opis:
Vessels engaged in coastal navigation must have their position determined with high accuracy. This can be ensured only by satellite systems such as GPS and GLONASS. The paper presents generalized concepts of geometrical factors of a navigational system. Such factors are used in the analysis of the accuracy of various radionavigational systems aimed at selecting the best system for a given area. The modern process of navigation is described in a four-dimensional space - three geometric dimensions and time. For this reason both the description and analysis of navigational systems should be performed in the same space. The traditional geometric factor of the land-based radionavigational system was generalised to include the factors GDOP, PDOP, HDOP, VDOP and TDOP for the needs of the accuracy analysis of a GPS system. These terms are related to the so-called geometry of navigational system - through mutually related positions of gradients of navigational functions determining position Iines (hyperplanes). They are connected with non-Iinear regression through a probabilistic relation between the measured navigational parameters. Consequently, the concept of geometric factors in the process of navigational parameters estimation can be also extended to include a larger number of dimensions appropriate for the state vector.
