    Environmental education is a long process, involving all areas of activity of the child (cognitive, emotional, practical), and its effect should be comprehensive knowledge of the nearest environment and skills in proper behavior and evaluate the consequences of their actions. Taking into account the cognitive development of curiosity and natural interest of students is a good way to provide them with direct contact with various objects of the environment. Nature works very strongly in the realm of sensual and emotional, unforgettable experiences, diverse and deep experience, enjoy, admire, give respite, start the process of evaluating various natural objects and nature as a whole. In the natural environment, students can compare, search, investigate, collect, organize, evaluate, measure, count, touch, smell, and admire the experiment. Under the influence of material incentives (things and phenomena), acting directly on the senses, arise in the brain, psychological processes, such as impressions, insights and ideas. Cognitive curiosity and natural interest of students can not be left to the natural course of things. They develop only through ingenious and well-implemented teaching and educational work, as a result of conscious choice of methods and forms of education based on student activity. The implementation of environmental education they provide educational paths among which the most popular activities in the field.

    Edukacja ekologiczna jest procesem długotrwałym, angażującym wszystkie obszary aktywności dziecka (poznawczy, uczuciowy, praktyczny), a jego efektem powinno być wszechstronne poznanie najbliższego środowiska oraz nabycie umiejętności prawidłowego zachowywania się i oceniania konsekwencji własnych czynów. Biorąc pod uwagę rozwijanie ciekawości poznawczej i zainteresowań przyrodniczych uczniów dobrym sposobem jest zapewnienie im bezpośredniego kontaktu z różnorodnymi obiektami środowiska. Przyroda bardzo silnie działa na sferę zmysłową i emocjonalną, dostarcza niezapomnianych wrażeń, zróżnicowanych i głębokich doświadczeń, cieszy, zachwyca, daje wytchnienie, uruchamia proces wartościowania poszczególnych obiektów przyrodniczych i przyrody jako całości. W naturalnym środowisku uczniowie mogą porównywać, szukać, badać, zbierać, porządkować, oceniać, mierzyć, liczyć, dotykać, wąchać, zachwycać się oraz eksperymentować. Pod wpływem bodźców materialnych (rzeczy i zjawisk), działających bezpośrednio na zmysły, powstają w mózgu procesy psychiczne, takie jak: wrażenia, spostrzeżenia i wyobrażenia. Zaciekawienia poznawcze i zainteresowania przyrodnicze uczniów nie mogą być pozostawione naturalnemu biegowi rzeczy. Rozwijają się one jedynie w wyniku dobrze przemyślnej i realizowanej pracy dydaktyczno-wychowawczej, w wyniku świadomego doboru metod i form kształcenia opartych na aktywności ucznia. W edukacji ekologicznej ich realizację umożliwiają ścieżki edukacyjne wśród których największą popularnością cieszą się zajęcia w terenie.

Contacts with nature apart from the fact that they have the cognitive values and shape the sociomoral attitude also affect the development of aesthetic feelings. Thus, modern teaching and learning should become an essential guarantee of the full participation of pupils in an active receiving system, individual processing and personal usage of knowledge and information constantly generated by an infinite number of sources. It should be noted that field exercises is likeable and attractive form of pupils work. They involve pupils in the research process through independent thinking and action, they also have the opportunity to better know themselves and their classmates and teachers. Thus, the role and importance of educational paths in the current education system is fully justified and can even provide a guide to teaching and educational work.

    Podstawą kształtowania nowej świadomości społecznej poszerzonej o świadomość ekologiczną jako integralną część zrównoważonego rozwoju jest wiedza. Zdobywanie jej, przetwarzanie i wykorzystywanie w różnych przedsięwzięciach to podstawa działań racjonalnego podmiotu. Chcąc kształcić na rzecz zrównoważonego rozwoju zachodzi konieczność ustawicznej edukacji nie tylko dzieci i młodzieży, ale także dorosłych. Działania te powinny być prowadzone przez odpowiednio przygotowane grupy edukatorów i zawierać się w dobrze przemyślanym systemie obejmującym współpracę ze szkołami i organizacjami pozarządowymi. Należy podkreślić, że edukacja ekologiczna będzie spełniać zadania do jakich została powołana wówczas, jeśli będzie ona obejmować każdy zakres i wszystkie poziomy edukacji formalnej i nieformalnej. Powinna mieć przede wszystkim charakter interdyscyplinarny oraz międzygeneracyjny. Właściwa i skuteczna ochrona środowiska naturalnego (w tym ochrona różnorodności biologicznej) uzależniona jest od poziomu wiedzyspołeczeństwa i od preferowanych stylów życia. Zarówno wiedza jak i styl życia podlegają ciągłym zmianom, przede wszystkim dzięki edukacji, prowadzącej do upowszechnienia wzorca kultury ekologicznej.
    Knowledge is the basis of shaping new social awareness that includes ecological and sustainable development awareness. Acquiring, processing and using knowledge in different undertakings is at the core of all actions performed by a person. There happens to be a necessity of constant education of children, young people and adults. The actions should be conducted by appropriately prepared teachers and be included in a well thought over system of schools and non-governmental organizations working together. One should emphasize that the goals of ecological education can be achieved only if it covers all aspects of formal and informal education. And above all it should have interdisciplinary character among all generations. Experiment presented in the work of students knowledge test revealed a very low level of knowledge of pedagogy students taught using the current standards of education, on environmental education and ecodevelopment. This is particularly disturbing in the light of Education for Sustainable Development being realised for five years of the decade. Examined students had particularly low levels of knowledge on history and recommendations for education of sustainable development. Few have demonstrated understanding of nongovernmental organization and objectives of their activities and forms of their work. This may indicate a lack of commitment and interest of most of examined subjects in the discussed issues. Knowledge of environmental education methods used in formal education is not satisfactory. Efficient and intelligent care of all living things, should become the guiding idea of education in nature protection. Environment protection must become an important content of civic education as a field of social impact. "Education of environment preservation may be the most serious chance to unite humanity in a global, wise treatment of natural resources of the environment on the Earth" [10]. Therefore, education should shape such values, attitudes and tasks which will enable the development of civilization and solving ecological problems without degradation of the environment. Therefore it is necessary to increase the effectiveness of current environmental education, both by promoting the most effective its forms and most important content, as well as by increasing the material base enabling the practical implementation of educational programs. Only continuous, never-ending environmental education of children, adolescents and adults will promote environmental awareness throughout society. Such education will also indirectly encourage the making of such activities in society, economy and environment which will be compatible with rules of sustainable development and ensure the right quality of life without compromising the beauty and richness of the natural environment and natural resources for future generations.

    Właściwości lecznicze aromatów wyprodukowanych z ziół, kwiatów i owoców są znane od wielu lat i ich zastosowanie w ogólnie rozumianej terapii nie jest nowością [1, 3, 5, 9, 13÷15, 21, 22, 25÷27, 29, 32]. Psychopedagogika jako dyscyplina naukowa zajmująca się badaniem procesów psychicznych [32] wiele projektów terapii i treningów opiera się na terapii przez zapach. W wachlarzu swoich metod z uwagi na właściwości lecznicze i terapeutyczne często korzysta z aromaterapii rozumianej jako terapia przez zapach, która wykorzystuje naturalne olejki eteryczne w leczeniu i profilaktyce zdrowotnej [24]. Dzięki doznaniom zmysłowym płynącym z naturalnych olejków następuje redukcja lęku pobudzenie lub wyciszenie, poprawa samopoczucia, ożywienie i odświeżenie umysłu, wyostrzenie zmysłów i poprawa zdolności koncentracji. Zalecana jest szczególnie wśród odbiorców, jakimi są osoby niepełnosprawne intelektualnie. Niepełnosprawność intelektualna jest jednym z najczęściej obserwowanych zaburzeń neuropsychicznych i stanowi ogromny i poważny problem w zakresie szeroko rozumianej ochrony zdrowia [5, 16, 32]. Według definicji Światowej Organizacji Zdrowia niepełnosprawność intelektualna to istotne obniżenie ogólnego poziomu funkcjonowania intelektualnego oraz trudności w zachowaniu przystosowawczym.
    Healing properties of aromatics produced from herbs, flowers and fruits have been known for many years and their use in the generally understood therapy is not new. Psychopedagogy as a scientific discipline that studies mental processes, many therapies and training projects is based on treatment by the essence (smell). In the range of its methods, because of the healing and therapeutic properties, it often uses aromatherapy, understood as a therapy by the scent, which uses natural essential oils in the treatment and health prophylaxis. Thanks to sensual sensations stemming from natural essential oils anxiety reduction agitation or calm, improvement of mood, reviving and refreshing of mind, sharpening of senses and improvement of ability to concentrate take place. It is recommended, especially among people, such as persons with intellectual disabilities. In order to gather the material required for examination of importance of aromatherapy in stimulation of development of disabled people method of observation was used, that is perception of people and accompanying phenomena, events or processes and the conditions and situations in which they participate and are present. Technique of overt programmed participant observation was used in it. This technique takes place when people are informed about the role of the investigator. The tool of observation was observation sheet, in other words the questionnaire with scheduled all issues covered by observation. In certain sections under certain issue all perceived facts, events and circumstances relevant to the examined phenomenon. Within participant observation relation to specific behaviours of examined objects - individuals, whose behaviour were defined dependent variables was found. For evaluation of conducted observations of mentioned behaviour, authors adopted an symbolic scale from 0, 1, 2 and 3, but for concentration parameter, opposite of that idea, that is de-concentration was adopted in range from 0 to minus 3. Variable independent parameters -results of experience wereobservations in the area: state, aggression, excitability, cognitive activity, concentration - de-concentration. The place of examinations in the field of aromatherapy in the psychopedagogical interactions was Psychoeducational Workshop was located in the building of Occupational Therapy Workshop of Polish Association for Mentally Retarded Persons in Koszalin. Objects, which were directly examined were following person: ? a male aged 27, with detected intellectual disability in a considerable degree with characteristics of autism, indicated in further studies as an object M (male), ? a female aged 28 with intellectual disability in a moderate degree and Down Syndrome, marked as an object K (female). The conducted preliminary observations of two objects K and M and interpretation of their reaction to external stimuli - essential oils at different concentrations allows to draw some general conclusions: ? Smell of specific essential oil sprayed in the room, which accommodates a male -object M and a female -object K, has an impact on how they react and communicate for both cases: autism and Down syndrome. ? It was noted that there is a quasi-optimal concentration of each essential oils located between dose level 2 and 3 in which the positive effectiveness of aromaclearly manifests in better moods, higher cognitive activity and higher levels of concentration. ? It was noted that an overdose of essential oils, thus exceeding the prescribedconcentration between dose 2 and dose 3, has a negative effect on behaviour of both male -object M and a female -object K. Deconcentration occursand cognitive activity clearly decreases.
