Roundabouts are commonly used worldwide because they offer several advantages over traditional intersections. The capacity that a roundabout can handle is an important factor in ensuring smooth traffic flow at a particular location. Therefore, various models have been developed to describe traffic conditions and driver behaviour at different sites or countries. However, existing models cannot be directly applied to other countries without proper calibration of the models to ensure an accurate estimation of capacity. In this study, five roundabouts in Hungary were selected to develop a general capacity model and compare it with international models. First, all sets of entry and circulating data were obtained from video recordings of each roundabout entry. These data were used to develop a model for each entry and then for each roundabout separately. Finally, all the data sets from all sixteen entries were used to develop a general capacity model (GM). The general capacity model (GM) was compared with the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) 2016, the Brilon-Bondzio, and the Brilon-Wu models. The maximum capacity of the general capacity model (GM) was 1390 pcu/h, slightly higher than the maximum capacity of the HCM 2016 model of 1380 pcu/h. The percentage differences between the generated general capacity model (GM), HCM 2016, Brilon-Bondzio, and Brilon-Wu models were +0.71%, +12.4%, and +10.7%, respectively.

Opis:
Using new technology to track service movement and logistics equipment, passengers or wild animals in the airport area can significantly reduce runway incursion occurrence. Sensor implementation networks will allow for foreign entity identification in a timely manner and take measures to prevent unauthorized access to the track. Modern technologies, which include sensor networks, multifunctional camera systems and radio frequency identification access chips facilitate the creation of complex safety nets at active points and on access roads. Due to their mobility and possible changes in range and direction, sensory networks are an effective method for achieving the desired level of security. Combining elements of modern technology creates space for automated airport security. Security risk portfolios are now defined for 10 different operating domains and give advice to the decision-making process, which the European Plan for Aviation Safety (EPAS) has supported. The aim of the article is to analyse safety in commercial air transport for the period 2006-2015 in comparison with 2016 and propose a method that would reduce the number of incidents through sensor networks and using texture analysis.

Opis:
Distresses are integral parts of pavement that occur during the life of the road. Bitumen distress is known as one of the most important problems of Iran's roads, especially in tropical areas and transit routes with heavy axes; so, identifying the effective factors in creating the bleeding phenomenon is very necessary and important. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the parameters of the mixing design in creation of bleeding phenomenon and its severity. The collected data were then analyzed and grouped using Design Expert and SPSS software. The results show that all five parameters of optimal bitumen percent, bitumen percent in asphalt mixture, void percent of Marshall Sample, percent void and filler to bitumen ratio are effective on bitumen and its intensity. Among the mentioned parameters, two parameters of percent of bitumen compared to asphalt mixture and the void percent in the Marshall sample have a greater effect on the severity of the bleeding phenomenon.

The Laboratory of Aviation Safety and Security at CTU in Prague has recently started a project aimed at runway protection zones. The probability of exceeding by a certain distance from the runway in common incident/accident scenarios (take-off/landing overrun/veer-off, landing undershoot) is being identified relative to the runway for any airport. As a result, the size and position of safety areas around runways are defined for the chosen probability. The basis for probability calculation is a probabilistic model using statistics from more than 1400 real-world cases where jet airplanes have been involved over the last few decades. Other scientific studies have contributed to understanding the issue and supported the model’s application to different conditions.

The increasing importance of better transport connectivity has indicated the need to develop high-speed road load monitoring technologies. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Silk Road transportation programs considerable have developed the roads and highways networks in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian (CA) countries. Transportation services require proper maintenance and prompt track load monitoring. There is no holistic freight traffic management system that controls and monitors traffic flow in CA. A Weigh in Motion (WIM) technology can be used as an effective traffic management control system in the CA region. The WIM technology is designed to control axle and gross vehicle weight in motion. It has a wide range of applications, including pavement and bridge weight control, traffic legislation and state regulations. The WIM technology has advantages over conventional static weighing as it does not interrupt traffic flow by creating queues at monitoring stations. The WIM technology can be used not only as a weight control tool but also performs a comprehensive analysis of other traffic flow parameters. In cooperation with Korean UDNS experts with suport from KAIA, we test the application of WIM in Nur-Sultan city, North of Kazakhstan, with Siberian-type cold weather. These works create much challenges and innovative approach to test sensors in the harsh environment, from the extreme cold to hot temperatures, with intensive dust distortions. Our Talapker WIM pilot test site was installed in September 2020, and it performs Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) and Axle of Weight (AOW) analyses. The Talapker WIM High Speed (HS) sensors are capable of detecting different driving patterns, including everyday driving, acceleration or deceleration more than 10km/h/s and eccentric driving (partial contact with the platform to avoid excessive weighting). The pilot Talapker HS WIM site has demonstrated a positive effect on implementing WIM technology in Kazakhstan. Every 10th car passing through the WIM site registered as an overloaded vehicle by gross weighting, and every 5th car is considered overloaded by axle weighting. GIS-based location allocation analysis (LAA) performed in the given study provided an understanding of a practical implementation of WIM sensors. Taking into consideration different geographical data, the WIM site map was developed to reveal 43 suitable locations. Further improvements for the CA road network and their WIM demand points will be the focus of future research investigations.

This paper proposes a methodology for bus lane allocation including different strategies, dynamic bus lanes, and exclusive bus lanes. Choosing the right solution depends on many factors, such as traffic flow, passenger flow, and time losses. Analytical or simulation models can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of a separate bus lane. Analytical methods are simple to use and provide results in a short time. Simulation models, unlike analytical ones, require much more time and data to prepare but they are also much more detailed and accurate data. Therefore, analytical models may be particularly needed in the first stage of planning work during which potential sections for separated bus lanes are indicated. In this article, the author proposed an analytical model based on the 6th edition of the Highway Capacity Manual, which can be used to assess the implementation of separated bus lanes in different strategies. The final model developed was calibrated using traffic measurement results collected in a Polish city. As a result of the work, the author proposed the calculation procedure of the assumptions and diagrams, enabling the assessment of the selection of the appropriate solution.

The article deals with the maneuverability of three-link road trains with various layout schemes. If a train has more than three links, difficulties arise in that the study of the movement of such a multi-link vehicle is significantly complicated due to the need to take into account the influence of a significant number of factors on the nature of the movement of all links. The interaction of neighboring units in the movement of a train is eventually distributed to the entire vehicle and causes certain deviations of the components of the train (modules) from the direction of movement specified by the driving link (tractor). Considering that a road train as a motor vehicle is a means of increased danger, when solving problems about the possibility of operating three- and multi-link road trains, it is one of the first to take steps towards theoretical studies of their maneuverability, the results of which will be the basis for answering many technical, organizational, and legal questions. Analysis of the calculation results showed that in the established circular path with the selected gear ratios of the control drives, none of the road trains met the requirements of DIRECTIVE 2002/7 / EC. From this, it follows that for three-link road trains, a fundamentally different control drive is needed, which can be a double control drive.

Badania te kształtują postęp nauki w zakresie gospodarki surowcami mineralnymi i energią w dziedzinach: nauki techniczne i nauki o Ziemi, przede wszystkim w dyscyplinach naukowych: górnictwo i geologia inżynierska, geologia, energetyka i inżynieria środowiska, a także innych, związanych bezpośrednio lub pośrednio z tymi dyscyplinami (geofizyka, technologia chemiczna, inżynieria procesowa). W wielu zagadnieniach, istotną rolę dla prawidłowej oceny badanych zjawisk ma szczegółowa wiedza z obszaru nauk społecznych, a zwłaszcza z zakresu ekonomii, finansów i nauk o zarządzaniu, a więc z dziedziny nauk ekonomicznych. Umocniła się więc rola specjalności Ekonomika i Organizacja Górnictwa, która czerpiąc z dorobku dziedziny nauk ekonomicznych wypracowała specjalistyczne metody mające zastosowanie w specyficznych warunkach przedsiębiorstw górniczych. W gospodarce rynkowej, w świetle potrzeb restrukturyzacyjnych przed jakimi stanęło górnictwo węgla kamiennego i brunatnego, metody stosowane przez specjalistów zajmujących się ekonomiką, zarządzaniem i organizacją górnictwa stały się bardzo istotnymi elementami nowoczesnych badań nakierowanych na zastosowanie w przemyśle. Omówiono problematykę tematów badawczych i naukowych realizowanych przez zespoły Instytutu, wskazując w nich elementy czerpiące z wiedzy ekonomicznej, ale także poruszające pewne aspekty społeczne, prawne i środowiskowe, które w zastosowaniu do górnictwa stanowią o rozwoju specjalności Ekonomika i Organizacja w Górnictwie. Przedstawiony zakres tematyczny prac realizowanych w Instytucie wskazuje na tworzenie nowej jakości poprzez łączenie wiedzy z dziedziny nauk technicznych z wiedzą z nauk ekonomicznych.
The Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences is the scientific establishment that conducts researches of very interdisciplinary nature, dealing with, inter alia, effective use of mineral resources, geothermal energy, energy policy, forecasting energy and raw materials needs, environmental protection of industrial areas. These studies shape the progress of science in mineral resources and energy management in the fields of: technical sciences and earth sciences, particularly in scientific disciplines: mining and engineering geology, geology, energy and environmental engineering, as well as other, related directly or indirectly to these disciplines (geophysics, chemical technology, process engineering). In many undertaken issues, an important role for the correct assessment of the studied phenomena has a detailed knowledge originated from the scientific area of social sciences, especially from economics, finance and management, being the specific disciplines in the field of economic sciences. The role of the specialty Economics and Organization in Mining have strengthened, which by drawing on the achievements from the field of economics has developed specialized methods applicable in the specific conditions of mining enterprises. In the market economy, in the light of the restructuring needs of coal and lignite mining industries, the methods used by specialists dealing with economics, management and organization in mining have become the very important elements of modern research aimed at industrial applications. This article describes the issues undertaken in research and scientific topics studied and implemented by the Institute's teams, pointing out elements deriving from economic knowledge, but also touching certain social, legal and environmental aspects that, when applied to mining, determine the development of the specialty: Economics and Organization in Mining. The presented thematic scope of the works carried out in the Institute indicates the creation of a new quality by combining knowledge in the field of technical sciences with knowledge from economic sciences.

The efficiency of maintaining road pavements in good condition in Poland, and, in particular, maintaining their good technical condition, depends mainly on the availability of financial resources and conducting ongoing works related to road operation and maintenance. Selected European countries, including Poland, reactivated the concept of reconstruction and use of highway landing strips. Based on the analysis of the technical parameters of a newly built highway landing strip, this publication presents, using the finite element method (FEM), the verification of the technical parameter values potentially resulting from the maximum load caused by a C-130 Hercules aircraft.

In modern global conditions, the revival of the economic belt of the Great Silk Road as a whole opens up new significant opportunities for countries along the route to develop the economies of these countries. Nowadays, the main factors for the integration of these countries are logistics, international trade, and tourism. The relevance of the study lies in the very methodological approach of assessing the logistics factors affecting the economy of a number of countries along the economic belt of the Silk Road. A group of preliminary countries, through which lie main routes of the economic belt of Silk Road, including Kazakhstan, were selected. An analysis was carried out on the efficiency of development of logistics and trade, impact of development of logistics on international trade. Based on the analysis of international indices of logistics efficiency, international trade conditions and regression models, problems and reasons for lagging have been identified that affect the economic development of countries along the Silk Road routes. Priority initiatives have been identified to overcome restrictions that impede the development of logistics and increase trade capacity in the countries of the Silk Road, in particular the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), including Kazakhstan.
