Introduction/background: The popularity of outsourcing as a management tool among Polish enterprises is increasing. Growing competition forces companies to look for new solutions for company management. Outsourcing is defined as a management tool to reduce costs in an enterprise. Aim of the paper: The aim of the study was to check whether there is a relationship between outsourcing and the size of the company. In the study, I list large companies and SMEs. Compares the relationships between the manufacturing and services sectors. Materials and methods: In this category, data from 250 companies from the Notoria database were used. In the first part of article, it compares the value of outsourcing across sectors using the Student T-test. In the next part of article, I examine the relationship between outsourcing and the size of companies. I compare the results between the vectors. Pearson's correlation test was used. It then compares the use of outsourcing between small and large companies. The student's T-test for independent programs was used. Results and conclusions: The results say there are differences in the use of outsourcing between the manufacturing and service sectors. I noticed that industrial companies use much more solutions provided by external suppliers. Moreover, I can see that outsourcing has a greater impact in manufacturing than in the service industry. As the company grows, the use of outsourcing increases. It also shows that large companies use outsourcing to a greater extent than smaller companies.

The aim of this paper is to show the causes and consequences of selected dysfunctional organizational mismatches. The problem of organizational mismatches concerns improper relations within an organization, as well as relations between the organization and its environment. The paper is based on interviews with entrepreneurs and managers and case studies. The analysis allowed us to identify strategic mismatches, such as the contradiction between the organization's vision and its strategic goals, the organization's mismatch with clients' expectations, or even conflicts and conflicts of interest between organizations and their strategic clients. A number of mismatches at the operational level have also been identified, such as disparities in the level of formalization between organizational subsystems, mismatches between the remuneration system and individual and group objectives, inconsistencies in the staff appraisal system and incentive instruments, and others. A number of inconsistencies between the strategic level and the operational layer of the organization have also been observed. The relationship between strategic and operational mismatches is two-way – mismatches in one area have a dysfunctional effect on another. They may result in a decrease in overall efficiency, a decrease in the development capabilities of the organization, conflicts, a decrease in revenues, or an increase in operating costs. In certain cases, very unfavourable image effects may occur. Well diagnosed organizational mismatches may constitute an impulse to restructure the company.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to indicate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the functioning of business models of selected companies. The analysis of the operation and direction of changes in the business model was carried out with an example of two family businesses. Conducting research on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the change in business models of companies is important due to the fact that the pandemic forced changes in the operation of many plants, which could affect the functioning of the business models adopted so far. For entrepreneurs, it is important to indicate how to modify and create business models that will work in different conditions. A good business model concept not only allows the company to gain better insight into its own business, but also allows for improvements and innovations. Design/methodology/approach: Business model analysis is based on one of the most popular business model templates, which is the Business Model Canvas. Changes in the functioning of the business model before the pandemic in 2018 and in 2021 were assessed. Nine elements of the business model were analysed, i.e. customer segments, value proposition, channels/communication, distribution, sales, customer relations, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partners, cost structure. The analysis was based on literature studies on the subject discussed and on the basis of data obtained during interviews with business owners. Findings: When analysing the examples of companies and their business model, it can be concluded that the changes in the elements of the business models of the surveyed enterprises were both quantitative and qualitative. Companies have made the most changes in the following elements: key resources, key activities, key partners, cost structure. Other elements included in the Business canvas model have only partially changed, such as customer relations. During the pandemic, another important aspect was noticed in companies, related closely to employees. The lack of an employee due to illness or the lack of a replacement for such an employee generated big problems, confusion at the level of customer relations, customer contacts, contacts with partners, timeliness of production and delivery, etc. The author proposed modifications to the existing BUSINESS CANVAS MODEL by adding the “employees” element. An analysis of this additional element in the model already at the stage of creating a business model can help new companies build a stable business model that will work in difficult situations. In crisis situations, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, employers should quickly plan the division of responsibilities in accordance with the principles of safety and prevention of infection, and make efforts to restore a normal, healthy rhythm of their company as soon as possible. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and implement new strategies and additional activities to ensure the safety and productivity of people and thus build a business-resilient company. Practical implications: Implementation of a new business model modified by the author of the publication will help new companies build a stable business model that will work in difficult situations such as the pandemic. Originality/value: The research is aimed primarily at owners of family businesses. The added value to the article is an attempt to identify elements of the business model that should be paid special attention to when creating new business models. The operation of business models during the pandemic requires a broader analysis and the presented research results contribute to reducing the cognitive gap in this area. Analysis of business models of the sample companies may constitute an introduction to broader research on the creation of innovative business models that will be able to work in the rapidly changing conditions of the company's environment.

One of the strategic management instruments used to build value and of organisation is balanced scorecard (BSC). The paper presents the elements of the Balanced Scorecard methodology, which are oriented at the growth of organization value. They emphasize these tools, which are related with the motivation systems and innovativeness stimulators, BSC is used in more and more sectors, both to micro and macroeconomic scale. The paper presents application of this instrument while creating the strategy of growth of industrial company, benchmarking of technological parks, regional strategy of innovation and innovativeness of the national economy.

The paper is devoted to the issue of the relationship between managerial competencies and the success or failure of restructuring in small businesses in Poland. It presents the determinants and selected characteristics of companies’ operations (the scale of their business activity and age, the market they operate in, as well as the experience and level of business knowledge of their managers) along with the characteristics of crisis situations and restructuring measures undertaken. In the second part of the paper, the results of empirical research conducted with the use of the CATI technique on the sample of 130 Polish micro and small enterprises in the construction materials distribution sector are presented. The research confirms the hypothesis concerning the existence of a significant positive correlation between managerial competencies and the effectiveness of restructuring of the surveyed companies influenced by the nature and intensity of the crisis.

Problematyka niedopasowań organizacyjnych dotyczy niewłaściwych relacji wewnątrz organizacji a także stosunków organizacji z otoczeniem. Artykuł opiera się na wywiadach przeprowadzonych z przedsiębiorcami i menedżerami oraz analizie przypadków. Analiza pozwoliła na identyfikację niedopasowań strategicznych, jak np. sprzeczność między wizją organizacji a jej celami strategicznymi, niedopasowanie organizacji do oczekiwań klientów lub wręcz konflikty i sprzeczność interesów między organizacjami a ich strategicznymi klientami. Zidentyfikowano również szereg niedopasowań na poziomie operacyjnym, jak np. dysproporcje w poziomie formalizacji między podsystemami organizacyjnymi, niedopasowanie systemu wynagrodzeń do indywidualnych i grupowych celów, niespójność systemu oceny pracowników i instrumentów motywacyjnych i inne. Związek między niedopasowaniami strategicznymi i operacyjnymi jest dwustronny – niedopasowania występujące w jednym obszarze mają dysfunkcjonalny wpływ na inny obszar. Niedopasowania organizacyjne mają negatywny wpływ na wartość firmy. Ich efektem może być zmniejszenie możliwości rozwojowych organizacji, konflikty, obniżenie przychodów czy wzrost kosztów funkcjonowania. W określonych przypadkach mogą wystąpić bardzo niekorzystne efekty wizerunkowe. Dobrze zdiagnozowane niedopasowania organizacyjne mogą stanowić impuls do restrukturyzacji firmy.
Organizational misalignment concerns improper relations within the organization as well as relations between the organization and the environment. The article is based on interviews conducted with entrepreneurs and managers as well as case studies. The analysis allowed to identify strategic misalignments, such as the contradiction between the vision of the organization and its strategic goals, the organization's misalignment with the expectations of clients, or even disputes and conflicts of interest between organizations and their strategic clients. A number of mismatches at the operational level have also been identified, such as disproportions in the level of formalization between organizational subsystems, misalignment of the remuneration system with individual and group aims, inconsistency of the employee appraisal system and motivational instruments, and others. The relationship between strategic and operational misalignments is reciprocal – misalignments that occur in one area have a dysfunctional impact on another area. Organizational misalignments have a negative impact on the company's value. Their effect may be the reduction of organizational development opportunities, conflicts, lower revenues or higher operating costs. In certain cases, very negative image effects may occur. Well-diagnosed organizational misalignments can be an impulse to restructure the company.

Polish CEP industry has enjoyed steady growth during the past several years. CEP players will have to be more creative and efficient in the way they win and secure that business. The objective of this study is to investigate the factors affecting firm competitiveness in a CEP industry, because competitiveness is considered as a key criterion for assessing the success of companies. The theoretical part of the work contains competitiveness definitions and the description of CEP services market. The research was conducted through surveys, using random sampling method. This study is an attempt to explore the factors that have a high influence on customer’s choice. Strong competition makes courier, if they want to stay in business, they must constantly watch for changes in the business environment and continually analyse consumer needs and preferences in order for them to adjust their offer.
Polska branża przesyłek ekspresowych charakteryzuje się stałym wzrostem w ciągu ostatnich kilku lat. Operatorzy muszą być kreatywni i skuteczni w prowadzeniu walki konkurencyjnej. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja czynników wpływających na konkurencyjność firmy w branży, ponieważ jest ona uznawana za kluczowe kryterium oceny sukcesu firm. Część teoretyczna pracy zawiera definicje i charakterystykę konkurencyjności oraz opis rynku usług KEP. Część empiryczna powstała na podstawie badań ankietowych. Niniejsze badanie stanowi próbę identyfikacji znaczenia czynników, które mają duży wpływ na wybór klienta. Silna konkurencja sprawia, że firma musi stale obserwować zmiany w otoczeniu biznesowym i nieustannie analizować potrzeby i preferencje klientów, aby dostosować do nich ofertę.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to show the negative impact of greenwashing on the company's reputation and to propose ways of using CSR and green marketing tools to reduce green reputation risk. Design/methodology/approach: The article attempts to answer the question: How to use CSR and green marketing tools so that they are not perceived as greenwashing and do not generate green reputation risk? The following methods were used: literature review, deductive inference based on the analysis of the following concepts: CSR and sustainable development, stakeholder theory, corporate reputation management, stakeholder engagement and social innovation. Findings: The most frequently postulated method of limiting greenwashing is the legal regulation of CSR, but due to its weaknesses, it is proposed to develop cooperation with stakeholders in order to jointly create green strategies and social innovations. Practical implications: The methods and directions of activities limiting the negative effects of greenwashing in the context of reducing green reputation risk and improving the reputation management process were indicated. Originality/value: The article contributes to the development of reputation management theory by drawing attention to another source of reputational risk, the so-called green risk, such as greenwashing, with an indication of how to reduce or avoid it.

In the article, we present the literature research results regarding factors responsible for the image we hold of enterprises such as hospitals in Poland. A major part of such held image is that of the organization as an employer. Hence, in this paper, we identify the factors influencing the perception of hospitals within the labour market. The reform of rail transport in Russia is creating entirely new business environment, imposing additional requirements for those working in the industry including the graduates of vocational training institutions. Under these conditions, the responsibility of the industry decision-makers of all management levels is rapidly growing. The reform of JSC Russian Railways reflects the company’s goal of conformity to the European standards along with participation in European integration process. The article’s focus is on one of the real steps taken to achieve this goal - the retraining program titled Innovative Management (Engineer Entrepreneurship). This paper contains the comparative analysis of education systems of Russia and the leading countries of the world, analyzes the main trends in the global as well as domestic education, vocational education system in Russia and abroad, the goals of innovative programs implementation, its content, the faculty involved, final results indicators for the program participants, its novelty. The issues encountered during the implementation of the program have been discovered. The forms and methods of solving these issues have been offered.
Реформа железнодорожного транспорта России создает принципиально новые условия хозяйственной деятельности, предъявляет дополнительные требования к специалистам, работающим в отрасли, в том числе к выпускникам учреждений профессионального образования. В этих условиях неизмеримо возрастает степень ответственности принимаемых руководителями любого звена железной дороги решений, их эффективности и целесообразности. Реформа ОАО “РЖД” свидетельствует о стремлении компании к деятельности по европейским стандартам, процессам евроинтеграции. В данной статье рассматривается один из реальных шагов к достижению данной цели – реализация образовательной программы дополнительной профессиональной переподготовки “Инновационный менеджмент” (“Инженерное предпринимательство”). В статье дан сравнительный анализ систем образования в России и ведущих странах мира, проанализированы основные тенденции в развитии мирового и отечественного образования, системы профессионального образования в России и за рубежом, цели реализации инновационной программы, содержание, кадровый состав преподавателей, индикаторы конечного результата для субъектов и объектов программы, ее новизна. Обозначены проблемы, возникшие в ходе реализации программы. Рекомендованы формы и методы решения этих проблем.

The effectiveness of the transportation system aids in the successful economic development of any nation, as studies by foreign scientists have shown that road transport is one of the most critical contributors to budget revenue. Nevertheless, the quality of the products and services offered to the end user affects any company's reputation, market share, and financial stability. Being proactive is essential to ensuring low-risk impact, which entails developing a risk management plan to support the operation through well-defined policies and practices. On the one hand, the company will thus be able to differentiate itself in an often competitive market by implementing an effective shipping protocol that considers and plans risks; on the other hand, it will guarantee its customers a timely delivery, as planned. This article focuses on the various problems affecting the distribution supply chain and the negative consequences for the company's image and financial performance.

Purpose: At present, one of the most important challenges faced by employers is to find, employ and retain talents. Attracting the best interns can be the way of creating the company’s brand as an attractive employer for Generation Z. The management of an internship programme with good preparation can strengthen the employer’s brand from the close supervision of engaged mentors and managers. The aim of the research is to identify the impact of the assessment of the internships carried out by students on their perception of the employer brand. Design/methodology/approach: The survey has been conducted in Poland in the period 2019-2021 among 789 full-time students in different fields of study. The paper presents a quantitative analysis of the obtained data in the cross-section of the respondent's study level (bachelor’s and master’s). The theoretical part of the article explained the essence of employer branding in a contemporary organisation and the meaning of internships as an employer branding tool for Generation Z. Findings: The answers of respondents reveal that the overall assessment of the internship affects their willingness to work at the given company and to recommend the company to others. The experiences gained during the internship, mentors involvement, and the way the internships are prepared and carried out by the company, have an impact on the assessment of the employer brand and influence the decision of Generation Z to participate in recruitment processes in this company as well as the selection of this employer as the future workplace. Research limitations/implications: The size of the surveyed group does not allow for the formulation of general conclusions. However, the obtained results may be the basis for further in-depth studies on the problem. Similar research could be conducted to establish the opinion of employers and university representatives with a broader consideration of other variables. Practical implications: The conclusions of the study will deliver the enterprises valuable information about the importance of internships for the acquisition and retention of future employees from Generation Z, and building the employer brand in the labour market. Originality/value: The obtained results allowed to fill the research gap concerning the perception of the representatives of Generation Z regarding the student internships in the context of the assessment of employer brand.

Opis:
TSL companies are characterized by high dynamics of an increase of incomes, and hence increased shipping. Owing to a rational policy in the area of the consolidation of production and distribution, they may boast of a better use of the means of transport. The purpose of this article is to present the activities in the area of the ecofriendly CSR aspect in the activities of TSL companies taking into consideration particularly logistic operators. The research methods used in the study include an analysis of secondary data, observations and comparative analyses. Road transport in the shipping structure comes first and it constitutes 84% of freights. In the year 2009, in Poland greenhouse gas emissions from road transport amounted to 42.5 million tons (4.84% of the EU member states) and CO emissions were 41.9 million tons (analogically, 4.83% of environment pollutions in the European Union). This causes an emission of fumes into the atmosphere. The policy of sustainable development pursued by logistic operators under corporate social responsibility is a response to the abovementioned data. They take decisions concerning social and environmental aspects. The activities of TSL companies under CSR need to provide an answer to customer expectations and needs, and they have to cause an increase of competitiveness on the market. The selected four largest logistic operators conduct the following eco-friendly activities on the highest level: fume emission reports and the control of these emissions, transport of hazardous goods (ADR), voluntary services in the scope of environmental protection and cooperation with ecofriendly organizations. There are those activities which call for improvement: a limitation of the emission of fumes, waste management and sewage treatment policy.
Przedsiębiorstwa TSL charakteryzują się wysoką dynamiką wzrostu przychodów, a w związku z tym − wzrostem przewozów ładunków. Dzięki racjonalnej polityce konsolidacji produkcji i dystrybucji mogą pochwalić się lepszym wykorzystaniem środków transportu. Celem artykułu jest przedstawieniem działań dotyczących ekologicznego aspektu CSR w działalności przedsiębiorstw TSL ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem operatorów logistycznych. Metody badawcze wykorzystane w opracowaniu to analiza danych wtórnych, obserwacja i analiza porównawcza. Transport drogowy w strukturze przewozów zajmuje pierwsze miejsce i stanowi 84% przewozów. Emisja w Polsce gazu cieplarnianego przez transport drogowy w 2009 r. wyniosła 42,5 mln ton (4,84% krajów UE), a CO 41,9 mln ton (analogicznie 4,83% zanieczyszczenia środowiska Unii Europejskiej). Odpowiedzią na te dane jest polityka zrównoważonego rozwoju prowadzona przez operatorów logistycznych w ramach społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu (podejmują decyzje dotyczące aspektów społecznych i środowiskowych). Działania przedsiębiorstw TSL w ramach CSR mają być odpowiedzią na oczekiwania i potrzeby klientów oraz powodować wzrost konkurencyjności na rynku. Wybrani czterej najwięksi operatorzy logistyczni prowadzi następujące działania proekologiczne na najwyższym poziomie: raport emisji spalin i ich kontrola, przewóz przesyłek niebezpiecznych dla środowiska (ADR), wolontariat w ramach ochrony środowiska oraz współpraca z organizacjami ekologicznymi.

Opis:
Purpose: This article discusses the current trends in transport in the European Union, paying special attention to the plan to create a single European transport area, striving to achieve a competitive and resource-efficient transport system. Design/methodology/approach: Using the methods of literature analysis and document analysis, the assumptions of the common transport policy, sustainable development of European transport, applicable legal regulations were analyzed. White Paper on transport in the European Union. Findings: It was agreed that a single European transport area should facilitate the movement of citizens and goods, reduce its costs and ensure the sustainable development of European transport, the main directions of transport policy include revitalization of the railway sector. Research limitations/implications: It has been shown that focusing on the following problems: increasing the competitiveness of railways, including modern technologies in the transport system, introducing a port policy, producing more biofuels, reducing urban traffic and introducing charges for the use of infrastructure are factors for achieving the competitiveness of the European transport system. Practical implications: The practical implications of the presented and analyzed issues are related to IT support for transport, logistics companies, internet technology, internet exchanges and support for IT systems of railway carriers. Trends in the transport of general cargo, road and bulk materials occurring in the EU were pointed out. Advantages and disadvantages of general cargo in transport were pointed out. Social implications: This article considers original that transport enables economic growth and job creation. The development of transport must be sustainable. As a global sector, effective action in this area requires close international cooperation. The Single European Transport Area should facilitate the movement of citizens and goods, reduce its costs and ensure the sustainable development of European transport. Purpose: The aim of the article is to indicate the possibility of using comparative advantage gauges as a measure identifying the market position of a company in relation to other entities, as well as the proposal to introduce a new measure in the form of a self-regulatory efficiency indicator. Design/methodology/approach: The simple indicators taking into account only revenues and costs are not suitable for a useful comparison of entities from a given industry, because they involve simple measures and allow only to rank entities without fully considering the specificity of the resources' management or the size of the business. Hence, the self-regulatory efficiency indicator is proposed. It can be used to compare entities generating uniform characteristics of the net financial result. Findings: For the Polish energy industry companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange it is important not so much to achieve a satisfactory market position, as to achieve a future’s competitive advantage, so the problem of the management is how to decide about the future without having a rational basis. It is solved by the proposed self-regulatory efficiency indicator (SEI). Originality/value: The comparison of the market position according to the SEI gauge and other comparative advantage indicators (EVA, RMA, I/C) is compatible in over 50%. Thus the SEI gauge can be used to describe the enterprise's market position, because as a new measure it allows to easily assess the efficiency of the resource management inside the entities, by the use of the generally available basic quantities.
