    This article describes the analysis of measurements of track irregularities for a selected section of a modernized railway track. The paper presents changes of selected irregularities resulting from the traffic load levels on the track section. The authors focused on analysing results of track geometry measurements and analysing waves of track lateral and vertical irregularities. Measurements of track irregularities were performed at the same track section by indirect and direct methods.

    The interest in bike transport in Polish cities and towns has been growing systematically in the recent years. A great number of local authorities take various actions to support the development of cycling systems. They make an effort to develop a cycling infrastructure – bike lanes, Bike&Ride type of parking, bike stands and advanced stop lines. An increased interest in bike-sharing systems is visible as well. Apart from that, the authorities implement policies and take other actions which make cycling in a city more convenient. The aim of the article is to characterize the experience of Polish cities in the area of bike transport support, with a special attention to bike-sharing systems. The article presents a comparison of 38 city bike systems. In addition, the Wavelo system in Kraków was studied in detail. Wavelo city bike system is very popular among citizens of Kraków. Despite relatively high prices and the lack of free minutes, the number of system users is growing. A large number of docking stations and their locations make bikes more accessible to citizens. Moreover, Kraków's authorities take action to develop a proper bike infrastructure which increases the interest in cycling as a transportation system. Selected methods of constructing special inserts in the transition zones between the embankment of the railway track and the engineering object (bridge, viaduct, or culvert) were discussed. The purpose of mounting the designed inserts is to eliminate the so-called threshold effect, i.e. continuously creating a mild change in the stiffness of the ground under the track. In addition to the solutions presented in practice, attention was also paid to projects developed by the authors of this article. The results of experimental research constituting the basis for the development of some solutions are also given.

    Opis:
    Logistics is one of the key sectors of the Polish economy. Its value reflects not only its own capacity, but also the role it plays in ensuring the proper functioning of the entire economy. The rapid development of the industry and the highest demands on logistics solutions bring to the fore the problem of preparing a new generation of specialists in logistics. That is why the question of compliance to learning expectations of both students and the labour logistics market is so important, as well as the problems of efficiency and adequacy of training provided to students with the knowledge and skills to achieve the desired job, and the opportunities of Polish Universities’ graduates to work abroad. The objective of the paper was to identify the expectations of students who study Logistics at the Faculty of Engineering Management, Poznan University of Technology.

    The subject of the article is the assessment of effectiveness of the cooperation between the railway track pavement with a pass of the flexible ground-coating construction made of corrugated sheets, in terms of traffic safety. The object of the research is the track surface, located within the said structure, under operational loading conditions. The article contains the discussion of the concept of the research project currently being prepared by the authors. In particular, there are presented: the object of research, the purpose of the project, its thematic scope and the method of research, as well as theoretical models of research, the specification of tasks implemented in the project, the way of the field verification of the theoretical approach to the issue in question and the expected results of the research.

    A method of railway track geometrical layout design, based on an application of cubic C-Bezier curves for describing the layout curvature is presented in the article. The control points of a cubic C-Bezier curve are obtained in an optimization process carried out using Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm. The optimization criteria are based on the evaluation of the dynamic interactions and satisfaction of geometrical design requirements.

    Modernization or revitalization of a railway line involves the necessity of reconstruction or renovation of practically all the engineering objects and constructions on its premises. While, in the case of objects, not protected by the Historic Preservation Maintenance of City-Owned Buildings, the situation is relatively easy, in the case of historical buildings, the scope of possible construction works can be significantly reduced. On the example of the modernization of the Wroclaw Główny railway station track system, the use of modern slab track is presented, whose aim is to obtain the required performance parameters of the engineering structures (old boreholes) located in its area. The non-skid surfaces used are ERS - rails in the cover and block rails of the EBS type. The use of pavement-free pavements allowed the historic bays to be preserved. Their main girders are made of riveted baffles, without interfering with their historical material. The presented solutions can also be used for the modernization of different types of engineering objects and construction, not necessarily recorded in the register or records of historical monuments - for example, in riveted constructions of those of or unique shape, located on lower category railway lines. It gives opportunity to preserve and continue to use old objects, exposing their beauty and technology, currently not used (for example riveting).
