Opis:
The article raises a problem of the spirituality of Christian charity with a particular emphasis on poverty. Firstly, it focuses on the culture of exclusion and its many dimensions, drawing on the recent Polish studies. Following that it emphasises the foundations of Christian charity. Further, it goes on to presenting the ecclesial (Church and community based) dimension of the ministry of mercy and a number of both internal and external difficulties in the practical implementation of this idea in the specific conditions of daily life. The article concludes that exclusion is a particular area in life that calls for the ministry of charity towards the ones in need.

Appreciating the meaning of the liturgy in the overall activity of the Church consequently leads to the discovery of its relationship with Christian spirituality. This has resulted in the emergence of a field of theology called liturgical spirituality, in which the liturgy of the Church determines the quality of life of the believer and at the same time shapes it. Considering the importance and role of the Eucharist in a Christian’s life, the fullest realization of liturgical spirituality is a believer’s participation in the Eucharistic liturgy. Hence, we can talk about a so-called Eucharistic spirituality, which is an example of liturgical spirituality. The issue discussed in this article is summarized in the following question: how does the Eucharist shape the Christian life of a believer participating in it?.

The main objective of this paper is to present the current state of empirical research on the application of the theory of Jungian types to the psychology of religion and spirituality, pointing out the necessity of broadening them by including Polish context. The paper presents an outline of this theory and the methods of studying these types (MBTI, KTS, FPTS) used in religion and spiritual-ity. Next, the author presents the results of research on the relation between aspects of the theory of psychological types and the religiosity variables, prayer, and spirituality of individuals as well as groups and centers connected with religion and spirituality. The paper concludes with comments concerning the most important empirical findings and their value for science and practice. A need for research aimed at the verification and generalization of the obtained results with reference to the modern reinterpretations of Jung’s theory and methods of studying personality is also pointed out.

Artykuł odnosi się do książki Sebastiana Gałeckiego Etyka chrześcijańska dla postchrześcijańskiej epoki, w której autor proponuje koncepcję takiej etyki, opartej na chrześcijańskim fundamencie. W swoim rdzeniu jest to dzieło metaetyczne, dla którego pierwowzorem i inspiracją były ujęcia etyki Johna Henry’ego Newmana, Alasdaira MacIntyre’a oraz Johna Finnisa. Poszerzając horyzont badawczy książki Gałeckiego, należy zauważyć, że wszelkie systemy etyczne są jakimś wyzwaniem dla współczesnych, nie tylko bowiem etyka, lecz każda nauka pojmowania klasycznie jako theoria ma dla życia praktycznego jedynie moc motywacyjną, a w życiu społecznym oddziałuje, jeśli zostanie przełożona na rzetelną popularyzację i skuteczne jej krzewienie. Przydawka „chrześcijańska” jedynie dookreśla określoną etykę, determinuje ją w określony sposób, lecz jej nie modyfikuje. Tym samym etyka chrześcijańska jest propozycją nie tylko dla konkretnego życia indywidualnego i społecznego, lecz także dla teoretycznej dyskusji etycznej. Współcześnie, w epoce nazwanej postchrześcijańską, w takiej dyskusji istotne znaczenie ma pluralizm argumentacyjny. Ma on swój fundament w tym, że fenomen moralności jest zawsze ujmowany w bogactwie jego aspektów, choć często niektóre z nich są niesłusznie absolutyzowane. 
The article refers to Sebastian Gałecki’s book Etyka chrześcijańska dla postchrześcijańskiej epoki [Christian Ethics for the Post-Christian Age], in which the author proposes the concept of such an ethics, based on a Christian foundation. At its core, it is a metaethical work, for which the prototype and inspiration were the taking of ethics by John Henry Newman, Alasdair  MacIntyre and John Finnis. Broadening the research horizon of Gałecki’s book, it should be noted that all ethical systems are a challenge for contemporaries, because not only ethics, but every science conceived  classically as theoria has only motivational power for practical life, and in social life it has an impact if it is translated into reliable popularization and effective dissemination of it. The “Christian” adjective merely specifies a particular ethic, determines it in a certain way, but does not modify it. Thus, Christian ethics is a proposal not only for concrete individual and social life, but also for theoretical ethical discussion. Nowadays, in the post-Christian era, argumentative pluralism is of great importance in this discussion. It has its foundation in the fact that the phenomenon of morality is always apprehended in the richness of its aspects, although often some of them are unjustly absolutized.

W swoim artykule chciałbym odpowiedzieć na najważniejsze uwagi i zarzuty postawione w dyskusji mojej książce Etyka chrześcijańska dla postchrześcijańskiej epoki przez profesorów Adama Chmielewskiego, Jana Krokosa, Krzysztofa Stachewicza i Marcina Zdrenkę. Swoją odpowiedź podzieliłem na pięć części. Na początku mierzę się z zarzutami formalnymi. Następnie przechodzę do uwag bardziej merytorycznych uwag, dotyczących relacji między chrześcijaństwem i postchrześcijaństwem, postulatem uspójnienia trzech tradycji dociekań moralnych oraz roli metafor w pisarstwie filozoficznym. Na końcu udzielam odpowiedzi na kilka istotny zarzutów szczegółowych, niemieszczących się w powyższych czterech grupach.
In my article, I would like to answer the most important remarks and critiques to my book Christian Ethics for the Post-Christian Age], made in discussion by Adam Chmielewski, Jan Krokos, Krzysztof Stachewicz, and Marcin Zdrenka. I have divided my answers into five groups. First I deal with formal comments. Then I will move to more factual remarks, concerning the relationship between Christianity and post-Christianity, the postulate of making the three traditions of moral inquiry more consistent and the role of metaphors in philosophical writing. Finally, I dealt with the remaining significant critiques that did not relate to any of the above topics.

Artykuł porusza problem duchowości miłosierdzia chrześcijańskiego wobec kultury wykluczania, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ubóstwa. W świetle najnowszych polskich badań omówione jest zjawisko wykluczenia i jego różne wymiary, następnie ukazane są podstawy miłosierdzia chrześcijańskiego. Ukazany jest także eklezjalny (kościelny, wspólnotowy) wymiar posługi miłosierdzia oraz trudności wewnętrzne i zewnętrzne w praktycznej realizacji tej idei w życiu codziennym i w konkretnych warunkach. Artykuł prowadzi do wniosku, że wykluczenie jest szczególną przestrzenią (sferą życia) domagającą się posługi miłosierdzia wobec potrzebujących.

The first will be presentation the subject of research in Christian pedagogy and the circumstances of the founding of the Cathedral; in the second will be presented research direction run by employees of Department; in the third the dissemination of research results will be presented.

Katechizm Kościoła katolickiego przedstawia sakramenty inicjacji jako fundamenty całego życia chrześcijańskiego, przez które wierni coraz głębiej i doskonalej uczestniczą w życiu Bożym i postępują w miłości (zob. KKK 1212). Eucharystia dopełnia to wtajemniczenie i jest jego ostatnim etapem, ponieważ w niej swój szczyt osiąga dzieło dokonane przez Jezusa Chrystusa. Wierni odrodzeni przez chrzest i umocnieni darem Ducha Świętego, który upodobnił ich do Chrystusa, jednoczą się z Nim w Jego jedynej Ofierze. W ten sposób urzeczywistnia się komunia życia z Bogiem i jedność ludu Bożego, przez co objawia się i buduje Kościół. Ponadto Eucharystia celebrowana we wspólnocie stale pogłębia komunię z Chrystusem, odnawia życie łaski otrzymane na chrzcie i sprawia jego wzrost w postawie chrześcijańskiej miłości. Dlatego w artykule najpierw zostaje ukazany Sakrament Ołtarza jako źródło i szczyt życia Kościoła i jego członków, a następnie omówione jest w świetle dokumentów Kościoła powszechnego i polskiego przygotowanie do Pierwszej Komunii św., które odgrywa istotną rolę we wprowadzeniu do ostatniego z sakramentów wtajemniczenia i kształtowaniu duchowości eucharystycznej.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) presents the initiation sacraments as the foundation of every Christian life through which the faithful more profoundly and perfectly participate in the divine life and charity (see  CCC 1212). The Eucharist makes this initiation complete and is its ultimate stage for the work of Jesus Christ culminates in it. The faithful are born anew in Baptism and strengthened by the gift of the Holy Spirit, who made them in the likeness of Christ. They unite with Him in His only Sacrifice. In this way, the communion of life with God and unity of the People of God become real, whereby the Church is revealed and built. Moreover, the Eucharist celebrated in a community deepens the communion with Christ, renews the life of grace received at Baptism and makes it grow in Christian charity. This is why the article starts with the Sacrament of the Altar  presented as a source and height of life for the Church and its members. Then, the study goes on to present the preparation for the First Communion in the light of documents created by the Universal Church and the Church in Poland. This preparation plays a crucial role in introduction to the final Sacrament of initiation as well as in the shaping of Eucharistic spirituality.

The Christian religion puts an emphasis on formation of pro-social attitudes. This is connected with the commandment about the love of the neighbor. Despite various difficulties Christian social pedagogy is developed. Work that is socially inspired by Christianity is permanently done. Christian social education is education aiming at forming a mature realization of the principle of love of the neighbor that is expressed in the ability to enter interpersonal relations and in the participation in a variety of communities, as well as in creating common good. It may be said that Christian education contributes to the development of particular individuals, of families, and of the whole human community, and it tends towards ensuring the educated young people supreme good, and the human community prosperity and peace.
Religia chrześcijańska bardzo mocno akcentuje kształtowanie postaw prospołecznych. Związane jest to z przykazaniem miłości bliźniego. Pomimo różnych trudności chrześcijańska pedagogia społeczna rozwija się. Działania społecznie inspirowane chrześcijaństwem są permanentnie podejmowane. Chrześcijańskie wychowanie społeczne jest to edukacja zmierzająca do kształtowania dojrzałej realizacji zasady miłości bliźniego, wyrażającej się w umiejętności wchodzenia w relacje międzyosobowe oraz uczestniczenia w różnorodnych wspólnotach, a także tworzenia wspólnego dobra. Można stwierdzić, że chrześcijańskie wychowanie przyczynia się do rozwoju poszczególnych jednostek, rodzin i całej ludzkiej wspólnoty oraz zmierza do zapewnienia wychowankom najwyższego dobra, a ludzkiej społeczności dobrobytu i pokoju.

Jacek Krawczyk (1966-1991) świecki katolik, studiujący teologię na KUL, doskonale zrealizował ideał chrześcijanina przez życie wiarą, nadzieją i miłością oraz praktykowanie cnót moralnych prowadzących do służenia Bogu i człowiekowi. Otrzymał staranne wychowanie religijne i przez pogłębione życie modlitwy odkrywał drogę swojego świeckiego powołania do świętości, które zostało potwierdzone przez jego heroiczną miłość w służbie chorym i ubogim. Głębia wiary i zaufania wobec Boga wyraziła się nade wszystko przez mężne znoszenie śmiertelnej choroby, w której karmiony sakramentami, do końca okazał się świadkiem miłości do Chrystusa Ukrzyżowanego. Jacek jest wzorem młodego człowieka, który zachowując wrażliwość na piękno i dobro oraz ciesząc się życiem w małżeństwie, konsekwentnie dojrzewał do wieczności.
Jacek Krawczyk (1966-1991), a secular Catholic who studied theology at Catholic University of Lublin perfectly realized the ideal of a Christian by living with faith, hope and love, and practicing the moral virtues that lead him to serve God and man. He received thorough religious education and through the deepened life of prayer, he discovered the path of his secular calling to holiness, which was confirmed by his heroic love in the service of the sick and the poor. The depth of faith and trust in God has been expressed above all by the courageous endure of a deadly illness in which he was fed by the sacraments, until the end he became a witness to the love of Christ crucified. Jacek is an example of a young man who, being sensitive to beauty and good and enjoying life in marriage, has consistently matured to eternity.

This is an English translation of Swieżawski’s original article titled “Początki nowożytnego arystotelizmu chrześcijańskiego,” published in Roczniki Filozoficzne 19 (1971): 41–56. The paper focuses on four main topics: (a) increased theological standing of Aristotle in the 15th century; (b) critical concerns over the compatibility of Aristotle’s philosophy with Christianity, as well as over its interpretation by Averroes; (c) search for the “historical Aristotle” and an objective assessment of the resultant interpretations of Aristotle’s philosophy; (d) identification of Thomism with Christian Aristotelianism.
Angielskie tłumaczenie oryginalnego artykułu Swieżawskiego pt. „Początki nowożytnego arystotelizmu chrześcijańskiego”, opublikowanego w Rocznikach Filozoficznych 19 (1971): 41–56. Artykuł przedstawia cztery główne zagadnienia: (a) wzrost teologicznej powagi Arystotelesa w XV wieku; (b) pojawiające się w tym okresie głosy krytyczne, dotyczące chrystianizmu Arystotelesa i awerroistycznej interpretacji jego poglądów; (c) dążenie do odszukania „historycznego Arystotelesa” i do obiektywnej oceny jego różnych interpretacji; (d) utożsamienie tomizmu z chrześcijańskim arystotelizmem.

Opis:
Lay people who participate in the triple office of Christ and the Church realize their vocation by their presence and by being active in the world. The world and the requirements of life modify their Christian vocation in a particular way. This differs them from the clergymen. Although they share a common Christian dignity and they build the same Divine Kingdom, they do it in a way that is peculiar to them and in the domains they represent: in marital and family life, in culture, art, economy, careers, political institutions and international relations (Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, 7). The presence of lay Catholics in these fields of human life is something particular, and their apostolic activities are necessary. By living in the world and shaping it according to God’s thought they realize their detailed vocation, which is an actual form of their Christian vocation.

Opis:
In 1876 E. Orzeszkowa pointed to four components of the concept of compassion. They are: forgiveness, mercy, sacrifice and charity. The present article is concerned with the problem of sacrifice, forgiveness and mercy in B. Prus's Lalka. The categories mentioned above, that are important to various degree for various protagonists of the novel, reveal the writer's ethical sensibility at the time when he worked on the novel about Wokulski. Analysis of these values makes one realize that Prus – the positivist looked for their legitimization in Christian ethics, however, the results of this quest were not always optimistic.
