Transportation works are important link of every production activity and they considerably affect the producing costs. The study present the analysis of working efficiency of transportation means using the example of meat processing factory. To solve the problem, the structure of transporting routes covered at analyzed works, number and localization of goods receive sites as well as the amounts and types of transportation means used must have been determined. Then the software making possible to evaluate the efficiency of transportation means work at a production facility was worked out. Calculations were performed using data from meat processing works in Górno. The work efficiency results for particular vehicles used to transport produced goods to shops were presented in a form of indicators in tables. Performed study revealed that mean amount ofcarriages under analyzed conditions was 0.492 t, average effective work time 1.39 h, average operative work time 6.5 h, mean uploading and unloading time 2.2 h. Average efficiency of transportation means during the effective time was 0.37 t/h, while during operative time 0.07 t/h, mean labor inputs 10.9 working hours, mean distance coveredwith no load 36.9 km, whereas with a load 69.3 km.

An appropriate solving the transport organization in agriculture requires, among others, to work out the method for transportation means work organization. Issues associated with transportation means work organization is impossible to be optimally solved by a controller in the case of developed transport network, instead they require computational techniques for fast information processing. One of such methods is presented in the paper as a system for sugar--beet transport to sugar works. In sugar industry, large amounts of raw material are transported between sugar-beet producers or storage centers and processing works. Presented program makes possible to select transportation means for carrying the sugar-beet, and then working out the schedule of routes realized by vehicles. The paper presents the management system of sugar-beet transporting to the sugar works that optimizes the transportation means work. Minimization of courses length, because it directly affects the reduction of transportation costs by means of decrease of fuel and other exploitation parts used, shortening the driver's work-time, and decrease of fees for vehicle rental. The system was verified using real data for a given day, which confirmed the correctness of the software functioning. Working out and launching the software required to write databases containing necessary information on: sites the material was received from, amount of transported loads, transportation means, loading/reloading machines and devices along with their technical and exploitation parameters, as well as the project required to draw digital map with all analyzed purchase centers, sugar works, and all the road network. Minimization of routes was accepted as a purpose function, because it directly affects the reduction of transport costs through reducing the fuel and other exploitation means used, shortening the driver's work time or decreasing the fees for vehicle rental. The system was verified using real data for a particular date, which confirmed the correctness of the software functioning. Activity aiming at reducing production costs through elimination of unnecessary expenditures resulting from bad work organization would contribute to the improvement of competitiveness of Polish agriculture and enhancing its opportunities on EU markets. Proposed system for sugar-beet transport management at Sugar Works is an example of the system meeting such expectations.

Works upon computer systems for agricultural goods transport management require, among others, an appropriate preparing the data on transportation network within transport optimization system. Such transportation network is very complicated and contains a variety of detailed information on purchase centres, to which cereals are supplied by farmers; stores, to which purchased cereal is transported; and transportation means that take part in a transport of purchased cereals. Since 80's decade of the 20th century, works upon the optimization of agricultural goods transport process have been performed at The Department of Agricultural Machines and Devices, University of Life Sciences in Lublin. That time, many transportation systems based on various optimization methods were worked out. Particular versions were written in different programming languages, subsequent versions of data processing procedures were worked out and different methods (more and more advanced) for computer map of the area were applied. All data referring to centres the goods are received from, and supplied to, upon the transportation means should be entered into the database in such a way that the software could use them during calculations. The software perfectly facilitates the process of data input. In a simple and clear way, it ensures the accessibility to particular files as well as movements among them. Its role is to generate files used subsequently to calculations in optimization software.

W Katedrze Maszyn i Urządzeń Rolniczych Akademii Rolniczej w Lublinie od wielu lat prowadzone są prace, których celem jest poprawienie organizacji pracy przewozów realizowanych w rolnictwie i przemyśle rolno-spożywczym. Opracowano komputerowe systemy optymalizacji pracy środków transportu przemieszczających różne płody rolne, zakładając, że znana jest ilość i struktura taboru używanego do realizacji procesu przewozowego. Chcąc rozwiązać kompleksowo problem przemieszczania ładunków w rolnictwie, należy przeprowadzić analizę przydziału pracowników do prac ładunkowych, rozwiązać zagadnienie załadunku - optymalnego wykorzystania ładowności środka transportu i dokonać doboru środków, które mają być użyte do wykonania zadania przewozowego. W artykule przedstawiono metodę doboru liczby i typów środków transportu do realizacji określonego zadania przewozowego. Metodę opracowano dla dowolnej liczby typów środków transportu oraz dowolnej liczby punktów odbioru masy towarowej. Realizacja jej wymagała opisania i oprogramowania bazy danych o środkach transportu oraz punktach odbioru masy towarowej. Ograniczeniem obecnej wersji programu jest rozpatrywanie w rozwiązaniu docelowym najwyżej 4 różnych typów środków transportu. Opracowana baza daje możliwość łatwej i szybkiej zmiany bądź modyfikacji danych z wykorzystaniem profesjonalnych narzędzi programistycznych. Dostęp do przetwarzanych danych odbywa się poprzez odpowiednio zdefiniowany interfejs programu. W efekcie program określa liczbę wszystkich kombinacji typów i liczby środków transportu, które zapewniają wykonanie planowanego zadania transportowego. W systemie przewidziano prostą możliwość określania rezerw mocy przewozowej mającej na celu zabezpieczenie wykonania przewozów w przypadkach awaryjnych.
Department of Agricultural Machines and Devices has conducted studies upon the improvement of transport organization in agriculture and foodstuff industry for many years. Computer systems for optimization of transporting means for agricultural goods were worked out assuming that the amount and structure of transporting means is well known. To solve the complex problem, the analysis of stuff adherence to loading works, loading issues, optimum utilization of transporting mean and selection of transporting means for a given task should be performed. The paper presents the method for selection the number and type of transporting means to realize a given transport task. The method was verified for any number of transporting means and any number of receiving points. It required describing and programming the database on transporting means as well as receiving points. Current software version's limitation is considering at the most 4 different transporting mean types. The database gives an opportunity of easy and fast changing or modifying data using professional programming tools. The access to data processed is through properly defined interface. As an effect, software lists a number of all combinations of type and number of transporting means that ensure completing the desired task. The system also gives a simple opportunity to define reserves of transporting power aiming at guaranteeing the transport task in an emergency.

The handling operations are the inseparable element of production processes. The percentage of this type of work, in reference to other production activities, can reach even high levels bringing the increase of expended costs. The capital consumption of handling works affects the improvement of a proper selection of means to assure the production profitability. An important issue of selecting the handling means is based on their work efficiency evaluation. The paper contains the description of the software (developed at The University of Life Sciences in Lublin), that would be helpful in solving the real problems associated with the selection of the continuous handling means used for works planned to do during a production process. The described software is an application consisting of forms that reflect divisions of means for continuous handling and connected databases for storing auxiliary information and results of calculations performed. The principle of the software is based on making calculations of the work efficiency as well as exploitation costs for continuous handling means. Additional values are: ease of data input and search for means characterized by possibly the lowest exploitation costs. Correctness of the software functioning was verified on an example related to comparison of three conveyor types.

The paper deals with an analysis of selected scheduling methods in a view of their use in planning the work of transportation means. The implementation plans for specific transport processes, for which duration of the project procedure is aimed at creating the optimal is the criterion. The authors will attempt to develop a coherent procedure for the combined transport, i.e. transport processes carried out by means of transportation means in more than one mode of transport. It may be also applied for the use of a number transportation means from the same transport branch, when there is a necessity to perform the handling works. Optimization of the execution time for the transport project, that is a modified version of classical transportation problem and scheduling method were applied for creating the method. The procedure can also be used to capture solutions resulting in an excessive use of transportation means, e.g. in case, when too many sets of transport are used. The method is a very useful tool for creating the scheduling of transportation means work. it lets on to fitting an appropriate response to the existing situation resulting from potential delays. It provides valuable information in terms of dispatchers, other managers handling with loads, as well as those involved in the determination of parameters related to contracts for transport projects

Designing the connections between suppliers and receivers of a product is an important issue during the process of physical goods distribution. Selected solutions directly affect the level of costs expended for a transport process and indirectly the price of distributed goods, which determines the competitiveness of a given product. This study presents procedures making possible to plan the transport of goods under circumstances of imbalanced supply and demand taking into considerations existing restraints such as need to bring a part or a whole lot from a supplier (or suppliers), as well as necessity to deliver required quantity of ordered product to the receiver. The efficiency of the method was analyzed using the example of shifting products among three manufacturing enterprises and five wholesalers having the demands that suppliers cannot match. Additional factors considered in analyzed example were the requirements imposed by receivers, among which one needed to have 60% of declared order, while two others the complete declared order. Operations aiming at creating a preliminary flow matrix were made with a help of Minimum Matrix Element Method. The optimum solution was achieved applying Matrix Graph Method. The result is an optimum plan of connections among manufacturing enterprises and wholesalers. Meeting the requirements imposed by receivers indicates the effectiveness of discussed procedure.
