Opis:: The platform for research on auction mechanisms is a distributed simulation framework providing means to carry out research on resource allocation efficiency mechanisms and user strategies. Both kinds of algorithms examined are completely user-defined. Interaction of algorithms is recorded and pre-defined measures for the final resource allocation are calculated. Underlying database design provides for efficient results lookup and comparison across different experiments, thus enabling research groupwork. A recognised, open and flexible information model is employed for experiment descriptions.

Opis:: Drones are considered to be an important part of future 6G telecommunication systems. Thanks to their quick deployment potential, they provide additional connectivity options in the form of a ﬂying hotspot. However, in such use cases, they typically require a wireless backhaul link to facilitate their proper operation, which might be a challenging task in dense urban environments. One of the potential methods that may be relied upon to connect such nodes is the integrated access and backhaul (IAB) approach, where part of the spectrum allocated to users accessing the base station is used for wireless backhauling. Thus, in this work, we consider the problem of establishing a multi-hop wireless backhaul link following the IAB concept, with the aid of drone relay stations (DRSs) and reconﬁgurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). We formulate the problem of coverage improvement with a ﬁxed number of relays, assuming certain throughput requirements for the backhaul link. The simulations show that the use of RISs oﬀers a coverage improvement in such a scenario or a reduction in the number of nodes involved in ensuring the required backhaul performance.

Opis:: Free Space Optical communication (FSO) has engrossed a large section of researchers in recent times due to its wide bandwidth, effortless deployment and immune links making it appropriate for communication purposes. This wireless optical technique requires clear and non-turbulent atmospheric conditions for efficient transmission. In this paper, authors aim at reducing the effect of turbulent atmospheric conditions like scintillation effect on FSO. Multibeam technique, which uses spatially diverse transmitters for transmission, has been used for increasing the achievable link distance of the FSO system. Parameters like quality factor and bit error rate have been used to check the received signal quality.

Opis:: This paper summarizes recent research on network-on-multi-chip (NoMC) at Poznań University of Technology. The proposed network architecture supports hierarchical addressing and multicast transition mode. Such an approach provides new debugging functionality hardly attainable in classical hardware testing methodology. A multicast transmission also enables real-time packet monitoring. The introduced features of NoC network allow to elaborate a model of hardware video codec that utilizes distributed processing on many FPGAs. Final performance of the designed network was assessed using a model of AVC coder and multi-FPGA platforms. In such a system, the introduced multicast transmission mode yields overall gain of bandwidth up to 30%. Moreover, synthesis results show that the basic network components designed in Verilog language are suitable and easily synthesizable for FPGA devices.

Opis:: Wideband CDMA method has been recently investigated for its using in the future communication systems. Such systems capacity depends on many factors, the main is multi-access interference (MAI). MAI is an inherent CDMA property connected to correlation characteristics of codes used to access and to spreading. The influence on CDMA performance of these codes families and parameters is presented in this paper. The standard Gaussian approximation has been used for interference analysis. Bit error rate (BER) on detector output is a measure of interference influence on transmission quality. It can be used for SNR(i) evaluation on receiver input for channel assignment and handover procedures. The results of interference analysis for the pseudo-noise sequences (M-sequences, Gold, de'Bruin and Jennings) as well as for the Walsh orthogonal mapping are presented in this paper.

Opis:: This paper describes a concept of the planning system for self adaptable, reconfigurable fixtures composed of mobile locators (robotic agents) that can freely move on a bench and reposition below the supported part, without removing the part from the fixture. The main role of the planner is to generate the admissible plan of relocation of the mobile agents. A constrained nonlinear optimization problem is formulated to find the optimal locations for supporting heads.

Opis:: Doppler-RAKE detection in the CDMA system has been further developed and offers better performances in comparison to conventional RAKE detection, especially in fast-fading environments. Also, the multi-user Doppler-RAKE system works more effectively with channel coding applications. However, by means of exploring the Doppler effect, the system's data rate is decreased. We propose a simple solution to increase the data rate for the system while keeping the Doppler gain.

Opis:: Multi-hop ad hoc networks are promising candidates for next generation mobile communications. They have sufficient channel capacity to achieve high data rate transmission for large number of users. One advantage of multi-hop networks is to realize multi-route transmissions. Since information bit streams can be transmitted over multiple routes, we can obtain route diversity effect. In order to enhance the route diversity effect, we usually introduce forward error correction schemes. Turbo coding is one of suitable coding methods for multi-hop networks. The turbo encoder generates one message stream and two parity streams whilst the message stream is more important than the parity streams for achieving reliable communications. Thus an unequal power allocation to the message and parity streams could be effective in improving the performance. In this paper, the effect of unequal power allocation for turbo coded multi-hop networks is investigated. Assuming the channel as additive white Gaussian and binary symmetric, we will show considerable performance improvement by unequal power allocation in terms of the bit error rate performance in multi-route multi-hop networks.

Opis:: In this paper, we propose a multi-operator differentia evolution variant that incorporates three diverse mutation strategies in MOEA/D. Instead of exploiting the local region, the proposed approach continues to search for optimal solutions in the entire objective space. It explicitly maintains diversity of the population by relying on the benefit of clustering. To promowe convergence, the solutions close to the ideal position, in the objective space are given preference in the evolutionary process. The core idea is to ensure diversity of the population by applying multiple mutation schemes and a faster convergence rate, giving preference to solutions based on their proximity to the ideal position in the MOEA/D paradigm. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by two popular test suites. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms other MOEA/D algorithms.

Opis:: The design and optimization process of modern telecommunications networks is supported by a range of appropriate analytical models. A number of these models are based on the Erlang’s Ideal Grading (EIG) model, which is a particular case of non-full-availability groups. A possibility of the application of the EIG model results from the fact that telecommunications systems show properties and features distinctive to non-full-availability systems. No detailed studies that would decisively help determine appropriate conditions for the application of the EIG model for modeling of other non-full-availability groups, that would be models corresponding to real telecommunications systems, have been performed. Therefore, this article attempts to find an answer to the following question: what are the prerequisite conditions for the application of the EIG model and when the model can be reliably used?

Opis:: In the paper the market model for balancing communication bandwidth trade (BCBT) is analyzed in the form of multi-commodity market data model (M3). The distinguishing feature of BCBT model is that it assumes that market players can place buy offers not only for isolated network resources - inter-node links, but also for end-to-end network paths of predefined capacity, that is, every offer concerns a point-to-point bandwidth connection between a pair of specified locations in a communication network. The model enables effective balancing of sell and buy offers for network resources in a way which maximizes global economic welfare. The open multi-commodity market data model provides efficient and clear mechanisms, which support the environment of auctions and multi-commodity exchanges, especially when the trade is constrained by the infrastructure resources. Thus the model may be used in designing open information systems for market balancing and clearing in the context of multicommodity trade in various network infrastructure sectors.

Opis:: A measurement system for integrated circuit testing has been developed. It consists of a semi-automatic probe station and a set of measurement equipment controlled by commercially available measurement software. The probe station is controlled by dedicated software. Both the measurement and station-control software communicate using the DDE protocol. The measurement system is flexible. It is particularly suitable for semi-automatic testing of multi-project wafers. Output data generated by the system is used for the characterization of the CMOS technologies.

Opis:: It is essential to have deep understanding of the mobile radio channel in particular for radio communication modeling and advanced technology system design. Models for the mobile radio channel are vital for the study of smart antenna systems, both for the design of algorithms, system-testing purposes, and for network planning. This paper provides an intensive study of the spatial characteristics of the mobile channel for low antenna height cellular environments, i.e., picocells and microcells, assuming Gaussian distributed scatterers. We investigate previous work on the angle of arrival (AoA) statistics for Gaussian distributed scatterers and make appropriate comments. Further, we employ the recently proposed eccentro-scattering physical channel model, as a generalized model, to derive the probability density function (pdf) of AoA of the multipaths at base station (BS) assuming Gaussian distributed scatterers around both BS and mobile station (MS). We found that the pdf of AoA at BS is directly affected by the standard deviation of the scatterers' density and the size of the scattering disc. The derived formulas, in closed form, can be used further for performance assessment of smart antennas and beamwidth design purposes.

Opis:: The article presents a new analytical model for determining the probability of availability of a certain amount of well-defined free resources (e.g. a link) in a group of dedicated resources (e.g. a group of links) jointly serving a mixture of different classes of multiservice traffic. The presented method can be used to model access to resources in data centers, in particular in the software-defined networks, assuming – for reliability reasons – that the user should have access to a certain minimum number of specific separated resources. The proposed analytical model was verified by appropriate simulation experiments, which confirmed the satisfactory accuracy of the results obtained.
