Opis:
The purpose of this article is to verify whether income inequality impedes the accumulation of human capital in OECD countries during the years of 1990–2010. The article reviews theoretical findings that suggest a negative impact of income dispersions on human capital, and subsequently, it presents estimations of a dynamic model of human capital accumulation. The results of the study reveal a negative and statistically significant relationship between income inequality and human capital inflow measured as student skills test scores.

Opis:
In this paper we consider list colouring of a graph G in which the sizes of lists assigned to different vertices can be different. We colour G from the lists in such a way that each colour class induces an acyclic graph. The aim is to find the smallest possible sum of all the list sizes, such that, according to the rules, G is colourable for any particular assignment of the lists of these sizes. This invariant is called the D1-sum-choice-number of G. In the paper we investigate the D1-sum-choice-number of graphs with small degrees. Especially, we give the exact value of the D1-sum-choice-number for each grid [formula], when at least one of the numbers n, rn is less than five, and for each generalized Petersen graph. Moreover, we present some results that estimate the D1-sum-choice-number of an arbitrary graph in terms of the decycling number, other graph invariants and special subgraphs.

In addition, some inequalities which are helpful in describing analytic vectors of operators A*A, where A fulfils the generalized commutation relation, are established.

In this paper we propose a new mathematical model describing the deformations of an isotropic nonlinear elastic body with variable exponent in dynamic regime. We assume that the stress tensor σp(·) has the form $ σ^{p(·)}(u) =(2μ + |d(u)|^{p(·)−2}) d(u) + λTr (d(u)) I_3, $ where u is the displacement field, μ, λ are the given coefficients d(·) and I3 are the deformation tensor and the unit tensor, respectively. By using the Faedo-Galerkin techniques and a compactness result we prove the existence of the weak solutions, then we study the asymptotic behaviour stability of the solutions.

Nikodem in [Strongly convex functions of higher order, Nonlinear Anal. 74 (2011), 661-665] we investigate strongly Wright-convex functions of higher order and we prove decomposition and characterization theorems for them. Our decomposition theorem states that a function / is strongly Wright-convex of order n if and only if it is of the form [formula], where g is a (continuous) n-convex function and p is a polynomial function of degree n. This is a counterpart of Ng's decomposition theorem for Wright-convex functions. We also characterize higher order strongly Wright-convex functions via generalized derivatives.

Opis:
This paper introduces a new formal mathematical model for investigating work- flows from dynamical and behavioural point of view. The model is designed on the basis of a special variant of the biology-inspired formal computational model called membrane systems, where the jobs or services are represented by membrane objects whose behaviour is defined by communication and generalization rules. The model supports running computations in a massive parallel manner, which makes it ideal to model high throughput workflow interpreters. Among the variants introduced in the literature, we have selected the Generalized Communicating P Systems, as it focuses on the communication among the membranes. Most of the workflow languages, based on different formal models like Petri nets or Communicating Sequential Processes, support several predefined structures – namely workflow patterns – to control the workflow interpretation such as conditions, loops etc. In this paper we show how these patterns are adapted into the membrane environment which, taking into account that membrane systems can be used to study complex dynamic systems’ runtime behaviour, makes this model a relevant alternative for the current models.
