Opis:
The main objective of the survey is to identify changes in consumer behavior and the determinants that influenced purchasing decisions during the Covid-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: An interview questionnaire was used in the survey. The survey was conducted through a random selection of a sample. The electronic survey was conducted in April 2021. The questionnaire was completed by 220 people. The media were the tools to reach the respondents social networking and the survey itself was made available on the facebook.com portal, on thematic groups associating consumers of various products. The research was of a pilot nature. This limited the sample size and scope of the research. Findings: The analysis of the survey results shows that the COVID-19 pandemic affected the purchasing behavior of 76% of women and 62% of men. Surveys have shown how shopping habits have changed during the coronavirus pandemic. The respondents said they started purchasing more products online and that the frequency of shopping decreased, but they purchased more products at one go. The respondents bought only essential products and spent a larger portion of their money on protective measures than before. For 24% of women and 38% of men the pandemic had no impact on their consumer behavior. Originality/value: The analysis of the literature leads to the conclusion that there is not much research on consumer behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper is addressed to representatives of the scientific world dealing with the topic of consumer behavior and all those interested in this issue.

Purpose: The aim of the research was to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the preferences of employees belonging to generation Z regarding the selected elements of the incentive system. Design/methodology/approach: The research was conducted in 2018, in Poland before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and repeated during its duration in June 2021. Each time the research group consisted of 200 respondents belonging to generation Z working in Polish enterprises. In the standardized questionnaire used in our study, the representatives of the generation Z were asked to assign importance to 22 elements of the incentive system broken down into financial, non-financial and non-material incentives. The degree of importance of a given motivator was assumed as a measure of employees' preferences. Findings: The research results indicate that the duration of the pandemic caused a change in the preferences of young workers in terms of the ways of motivating them by employers. This applied to a greater extent to men rather than to women. The greatest increase in the value of the importance rank took place in the case of remote work, work in a state-owned enterprise and the health benefits system offered by the employer. The period of the pandemic increased the sense that young Poles were in danger of losing their jobs and having their salaries reduced. This is evidenced in particular by the increased importance of job opportunities in a state-owned enterprise and the amount of remuneration. Originality/value: The paper is mainly addressed to people responsible for shaping the incentive system. All the main motivators were included in the study, which provided a holistic view of how the preferences of young Poles belonging to generation Z changed under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the context of the pandemic, usually selected motivators are examined, especially the hybrid work model.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to analyze and evaluate the usefulness of the cost accounting system of selected enterprises in the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship for managing their costs under the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The article presents the results of the author’s survey research. This research was carried out using the Computer-Assisted Web Interview survey method. Business entities from the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship with an entry in the National Court Register were invited to the survey via e-mail. These were commercial companies, mainly limited liability companies and joint-stock companies. Findings: The main conclusion of the study is that the full cost accounting used in business entities is partially useful for effective cost management of the studied entities. With the COVID-19 pandemic, there was little impact on the usefulness of cost information extracted from applied costing. Originality/value: The COVID-19 pandemic has destabilized all areas of economic and social life in Poland. Therefore, an important issue is the analysis and evaluation of its impact, which is still faced today by representatives of various industries and sectors of the Polish economy. The considerations presented here concern evaluating the utility of cost accounting systems in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This information can be useful for those dealing with cost accounting issues and the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in theory, as well as business owners, controlling managers or accounting services staff.

Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of the research presented in this paper was to identify the factors that determine the perception of sport sponsorship in terms of sustainability development and CSR activities in the era of Covid-19. Design/methodology/approach: The goal was achieved by literature review and presentation of the results of relevant pilot research. The research sample (random) consisted of questionnaires returned by 203 respondents via the Internet. In the empirical analysis workshops, binomial models in the form of logit models were used, due to which the estimation of 8 logit models (4 full and 4 reduced) was carried out, while considering their determinants in 5 categories. Findings: The results show that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, participants in sports events pay attention to the sponsor's activities in terms of sustainable development and CSR. This is evidenced by various perceptions of his activity. These results confirm that combining sponsorship with sustainable development and CSR help to create a positive image of the company, especially in the times of crisis. Research limitations/implications: In the period of many restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, sports sponsors have limited opportunities to display their brand, thus creating their image. Additionally, the lack of sports gatherings limited the interactions occurring on the plane of the sports event – sponsor-beneficiaries of the event. Covid-19, in a way, forced brands to act in a sustainable manner and CSR. The commercialization of sport introduced sustainable development and CSR as means to achieve organizational goals and the Covid-19 pandemic has become a period of adjusting activities in the area of sustainable development and CSR to new conditions and social expectations. The obtained test results confirm this. Social implications: The coronavirus pandemic and government-imposed social distancing measures have had a strong impact on the sports sponsorship rights market, thereby impacting sustainability and CSR activities. Therefore, the article answered the question whether the Covid-19 era is a place to combine sports sponsorship with sustainable development and CSR? Originality/value: The discussed issue is in line with the current concept of sustainable development and CSR. Sustainable sports sponsorship allows you to build a positive image of the company and maintain a long-term competitive advantage, even in such difficult times related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The article is intended for both managers and researchers dealing with the subject of sustainable development and CSR.

Opis:
Purpose: The end of the first quarter of 2020 is the beginning of a new, difficult time in the functioning of transport companies, as well as the entire Polish and world economy. The appearance of Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) resulted in a number of market restrictions and a sharp decline in transport orders. Enterprises had to change the way they were managed and operated, had to adapt to a different economic reality in order to continue to prosper. The aim of the article is to define the essence of managing a transport company in the new market and economic conditions that appeared during the Covid-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The research procedure included review of polish and foreign literature, analysis of legal acts, questionnaire research, analysis of the content of internal documents of transport companies, method of analysis and synthesis, case study, methods of inductive and deductive reasoning. The article presents the results of scientific research on the impact of Covid-19 on the management and decisions made in a transport company. Findings: The high level of impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the management of a transport company has been demonstrated. The factor that most influenced the management and decisions of transport companies is the decline or fear of a decline in contracts for transport services. Transport companies are afraid of the further negative effects of the pandemic, and therefore do not want to take out investment loans in order to develop the company. The article discusses the activities of transport companies and the management of a transport company in crisis conditions. Research limitations/implications: The article presents a survey carried out in Polish transport companies from the Podkarpackie and Lubelskie voivodships. Therefore, the research results concern the area of south-eastern Poland. Practical implications: The results of the research may be helpful for managers of transport companies (management decisions made) in order to limit the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on their business activities. Originality/value: The presented research and conclusions provide practical guidance to managers about what decisions and actions can improve the economic condition of their transport companies in the difficult period of the Covid-19 pandemic, based on the example of the analyzed transport companies.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to answer the question: does the pandemic affect the ability to achieve the sustainable development goals? Design/methodology/approach: The article analyzes selected, available literature on sustainable development, from the genesis of the phenomenon to the current situation. It invoked, among other things, the idea of the European Green Deal. The most current issues related to the pandemic reality were addressed. The themes and changes highlighted are based on data from available reports and statistical analyses. Findings: By the time the pandemic broke out, the sustainability goals had been achieved gradually. But the pandemic has forced policymakers to think long-term. The conditions for transition to the green economy, i.e. the green transition, have also become crucial. In many countries, including Poland, the need for better achievement of social goals in addition to economic or environmental ones has become apparent. Further work is needed to achieve the sustainable development goals. Research limitations/implications: The text refers to a limited number of studies. The problems presented in the paper still need to be empirically confirmed in relation to a greater number of examples, which should result in the publication of subsequent studies. It will also be necessary to fully diagnose the post-pandemic situation and retrace the threads taken up. Originality/value: The article points to already visible changes, being the result of the continuing pandemic, from the perspective of sustainable development goals.

Opis:
Purpose of the article: In one sentence, disintermediation, it is said, neutralized the negative effects of the lack of trust that accrue from the use of a trusted third party, the intermediary. Disintermediation it is new system allowing any two willing parties to transact directly with each other without the need for a trusted party. Its conceptual framework focuses on posing key cognitive questions. The first core question to ask here is: how can we in intermediation after Global Financial Crisis? The second core question to ask is: how can humans blend disintermediation with policy norms to sustain disintermediation when they know that a minority can violate pandemic norms? Institutional experiences of disintermediation to individual-level social distancing, can sharpe individual beliefs, risk attitudes, and choices for years to come. The aim of the article is to indicate the mechanisms of conscious exclusion from traditional financial intermediation. Indirectly, it is gaining momentum as a result of distrust of banks and health services. In the first part, we remind you how successive financial crises crushed the banks ’natural monopoly on direct contact with customers. Tin the second part, we show how artificial intelligence penetrates people and enforces self-confidence. Social distinctions is ubiquitous in times of trust in social media. In conclusion, we show that the COVID-19 pandemic did not cause, but only exposed the scale of the social distance to traditional banking. Research methods: Narrative literature review of disintermediation discuss the state of the science of a specific theme from a theoretical and contextual point of view. We start with critical analysis of securitisation, switch to social distancing and transfer to telemedicine. Systematic literature review need replace disintermediation by digital transformation, social distancing by pandemic as catalyst of change, securitisation as equivalent of financial capital and telemedicine as equivalent of human capital. This is a conceptual article. Orginality/value: The pandemic has become a catalyst for the disclosure of long-term changes in financial intermediation. The tendency to financial mediation emerged half a century ago during the crisis of small and medium-sized banks in the United States. Collective memory has survived and has been used to advance digital non-banking intermediation. The barrier to its development was digital exclusion cantered around seniors and socially excluded people.

Opis:
Design/methodology/approach: This article aims to compare the behaviour of Polish and Slovak robo-advice users in the area of personal finance management during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as their expected saving, expenditure and investment action after the end of the pandemic. An important aspect of the analysis is a comparison of how the respondents use the PFM application for personal finance management. The article was based on a literature analysis, statistical data, as well as our own pioneering empirical study conducted in September 2021 among clients of the Slovak brokerage house Finax in Poland and Slovakia, which was the first entity in Poland to offer a robo-advice service. A number of statistical methods were used to analyze the collected statistical material: Mann-Whitney U Test, Pearson’s Chi-square test, Linear Regression Analysis, Kendall’s tau correlation analysis. Findings: The COVID-19 pandemic did not adversely affect the personal finance of Polish and Slovak robo-advice users and they differed in terms of investment methods during the pandemic as well as their investment plans after the pandemic. Polish and Slovak robo-advice users used spreadsheets plus special banking and non-banking applications to manage their personal finance. Sociodemographic variables did not largely explain how Poles and Slovaks used the application to configure personal finance. During the pandemic, saving was associated with the use of an application to configure personal finance and the awareness of the existence of such an application among both Poles and Slovaks. Research limitations/implications: The conclusions of the study can be used by financial institutions, FinTechs, robo-advisors and PFM application providers for managing the home budget. Originality/value: The novelty of the article is the first comparative study of robo-advice users in Poland and Slovakia on personal finance management during the COVID-19 pandemic and financial plans in the post-pandemic period.

Purpose: The study aimed to review the current literature on the psychosocial consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in psychiatric care. Design/methodology/approach: Based on the available literature, the author discussed and grouped the stressors related to the coronavirus pandemic. Next, the author drew attention to the harmful effects of pandemic stressors on psychosocial consequences. The author based his considerations on the latest world literature on the subject - only from the pandemic period, i.e., 2020-2022. For this purpose, the author studied mainly scientific articles and electronic sources. The author used the following professional scientific databases: Taylor & Francis online, PubMed, and Google Scholar to collect scientific literature. Findings: The SARS-CoV-2 virus has changed the image of everyday functioning in society, which has had an impact on mental health. The coronavirus pandemic contributed to psychosocial disorders that significantly reduced the quality of life. There has been a significant increase in depression, drug-induced disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorders. In the literature analysis, the author also indicated a rise in loneliness among seniors, increased domestic violence, and an increased risk of suicidal behavior. Social implications: The pandemic has shown investment in health means an investment in the economy, security, and the world's future. An efficient and safe health system is a raison d'etat, but it is also a colossal civilization challenge. The author noted the great importance of psychiatric care in alleviating stressors related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The author also pointed to the urgent need to subsidize psychiatry in Poland and increase human resources in this area. Originality/value: The author addressed the article to scientists, health care researchers, and managers/directors managing medical entities to make them aware that the coronavirus pandemic has serious health consequences, primarily in the mental sphere, posing a challenge health care systems around the world. The article's value highlights the invaluable and underestimated role of psychiatry in dealing with individual, institutional and social difficulties related to COVID-19 and future emerging infectious diseases. According to the author, the post-pandemic situation in psychiatry should consider the stressors identified during the pandemic and its psychosocial consequences. In this way, doctors can accurately diagnose a patient and propose an effective treatment path, treating the patient comprehensively and holistically.

Purpose: The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused a revolution in human resource management in all organizations. Particularly important from a social point of view, changes have occurred in the organization of work and human resource management (HRM) in public institutions providing services to the public. On the one hand, it was necessary to secure the work of these entities so that the continuity of their work was maintained. On the other hand, the possibility of contamination of employees had to be limited. For this reason, Smart City solutions were started to regulate contacts between employees and between employees and customers. The aim of the article is an attempt to state whether the changes introduced in the HRM process in selected city offices in Poland were an expression of social responsibility, contributed to the improvement of the quality of work of officials and customer service of these offices. Design/methodology/approach: The research allowing for this answer was carried out on the basis of the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) method, and the sample in the research were employees of selected city offices. Research limitations/implications: It was found that the CSI method can be used equally effectively in the satisfaction of external and internal customers. Practical and social implications: The conducted study allowed for the conclusion that the assessment of the quality of intelligent solutions related to the area of social responsibility undertaken as part of human resource management was assessed by the respondents at an average level. Originality/value: The original element of the study on the basis of which the article was prepared was the use of the CSI method to survey employee satisfaction with work based on Smart City solutions.
