    The ongoing synodal process (16th Ordinary General Assembly: For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission), which began in October 2021 and will culminate in the same month of 2024, is encouraging a broad participation of the faithful in the synods, starting from the particular Churches. In terms of its concrete objective, it is a reflection on synodality and its exercise around synodal assemblies. This article explores synodality as a constitutive dimension of the Church and its meaning in practice. It delves into the organic cooperation between pastors and faithful as the basis for the participation of the baptised in synods. It looks at some specific aspects of synods: their service in favour of communion and mission, as an instrument of discernment of the “dynamic fidelity” which characterises the Church's journey; the appropriateness of a journey from the peripheries to the centre; the attitudes proper to those who participate in a synod; and the theological-pastoral dimensions of the synod. All this, taking into account the experience of the Church and the current reflection.

    Opracowanie prezentuje wyniki badań dotyczących zmian we wzorach modlitwy powszechnej w kolejnych wydaniach typicznych mszału. Modlitwa powszechna stanowi szczytową część liturgii, w której wypełnia się powszechne kapłaństwo wiernych. Sobór postulował przywrócenie jej według starożytnych wzorów. Concilium ad Exsequendam Constitutionem de Sacra Liturgia jeszcze przed pierwszą edycją typiczną mszału wydało podstawowy dokument De oratione communi seu fidelium. Podano w nim wzory modlitwy powszechnej, na podstawie których krajowe konferencje biskupów powinny wydać własne wzorce w języku narodowym. Spośród 54 podanych w De oratione wzorów modlitwy powszechnej w dodatku do posoborowego mszału umieszczono 11. Potwierdza to koncepcję, że mają one stanowić tylko przykłady, a nie zbiór do stosowania w liturgii.
    The study presents the results of research on changes in the formulas for the universal prayer in the subsequent typical editions of the Missal. The universal prayer is the climax of the liturgy in which the universal priesthood of the faithful is fulfilled. The Council postulated its restoration according to the ancient practice. Concilium ad Exsequendam Constitutionem de Sacra Liturgia published (before the first typical edition of the Missal) a basic document De oratione communi seu fidelium. The formulas for the universal prayer were given in it. They form the basis on which the national bishops’ conferences should publish their own formulas in the national language. Out of 54 models of the universal prayer given in De oratione, 11 were added in an appendix to the post-conciliar Missal. This confirms the concept that they are only examples, not a set for use in the liturgy.

    Modlitwy za zmarłych rozpowszechniły się w Kościele w okresie patrystycznym i łączyły się z Eucharystią sprawowaną w określone dni. Najstarsze formularze mszalne związane ze zmarłymi pochodzą z V wieku. Natomiast znacznie później, bo pod koniec X lub na początku XI wieku, zaczęto celebrować oficjum i Eucharystię za wszystkich wiernych zmarłych. Dniem celebracji stał się 2 listopada, i najpierw miało to miejsce w benedyktyńskim opactwie w Cluny. Przed Soborem Trydenckim we Wspomnienie wszystkich wiernych zmarłych można było wybierać perykopy spośród kilku proponowanych. W Mszale Piusa V z 1570 roku są już ustalone stałe czytania. Od 1915 roku każdy kapłan może w tym dniu sprawować trzy Msze Święte. Lekcjonarz łaciński wydany po Soborze Watykańskim II proponuje dobrać czytania spośród ponad czterdziestu perykop przeznaczonych dla Mszy za zmarłych. W Lekcjonarzu języka polskiego podano dziewięć stałych czytań dla trzech Mszy. W innych krajach istnieją duże różnice w doborze czytań. Tematem głównym czytań jest misterium paschalne, które obejmuje śmierć, zmartwychwstanie i życie wieczne Chrystusa i wszystkich wiernych.
    Prayers for the dead were widespread in the Church in the patristic period and were united with the Eucharist celebrated on particular days. At the end of 10th century or at the beginning of the 11th century, they began to celebrate the Divine Office and the Eucharist for All the Faithful Departed. First, it was in the Benedictine Abbey of Cluny—the celebration was established on November 2. Before the Council of Trent they could choose the readings of Mass from several that were proposed. In the Missal of Pius V, there were established readings. Since 1915, every priest may celebrate three Masses on this day. The Latin Lectionary promulgated after Vatican II proposes the choice of readings from more than forty of the Masses for the dead. The Lectionary in the Polish language has a stable nine readings for three Masses. In other countries, there are large differences in the choice of readings. The principal theme of the biblical texts is the Paschal mystery surrounding the death, resurrection and eternal life of Christ and all the faithful.

    El proceso sinodal en marcha (XVI Asamblea general ordinaria: Por una Iglesia sinodal: comunión, participación y misión), que comenzó el octubre de 2021 y culminará en el mismo mes de 2024, está impulsando una amplia participación de los fieles en los sínodos, a partir de las Iglesias particulares. En cuanto a su objetivo concreto, se trata de la reflexión sobre la sinodalidad y su ejercicio en torno a las asambleas sinodales. En este artículo se explora la sinodalidad como dimensión constitutiva de la Iglesia y lo que esto significa en la práctica. Profundiza en la cooperación orgánica entre pastores y fieles, como fundamento de la participación de los bautizados en los sínodos. Se detiene en algunos aspectos concretos de los sínodos: su servicio a la comunión y a la misión, como instrumento de discernimiento de la “fidelidad dinámica” que caracteriza el camino de la Iglesia; la adecuación de un itinerario que vaya de las periferias al centro; las actitudes propias de quienes participan en un sínodo; y las dimensiones teológico-pastorales del sínodo. Todo ello, teniendo en cuenta la experiencia de la Iglesia y la reflexión actual.
    Trwający proces synodalny (XVI Zwyczajne Zgromadzenie Ogólne: Ku Kościołowi synodalnemu: komunia, uczestnictwo i misja), rozpoczęty w październiku 2021 r. i mający się zakończyć w październiku roku 2024, zachęca wiernych do szerokiego udziału w synodach, poczynając od kościołów partykularnych. Wymiernym celem synodu jest refleksja nad synodalnością i jej realizacją podczas zgromadzeń synodalnych. W artykule poruszona jest kwestia synodalności jako elementu budującego Kościół i jej praktycznego znaczenia. Autor szczegółowo analizuje współpracę między duszpasterzami i wiernymi, leżącą u podstaw uczestnictwa osób ochrzczonych w synodach, a także konkretne aspekty synodów: ich posługa dla wspólnoty i misji – jako narzędzie służące rozeznaniu „dynamicznej wierności” cechującej drogę Kościoła, zasadność pokonania drogi od peryferii do centrum, postawy właściwe dla uczestników synodu oraz teologiczno-pastoralne wymiary synodu. Wszystkie te rozważania uwzględniają doświadczenie Kościoła i aktualne refleksje.

    Der Antwortpsalm – ein Kind der Liturgiereform des Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzils – vereinigt in sich mehrere zentrale Anliegen der Reform und wird dadurch zum Gradmesser für dessen Umsetzung. Er macht den „Tisch des Wortes Gottes“ reichhaltiger. Er zeigt, dass das Singen wesentlich zur Feier der Liturgie gehört. Er ermöglicht eine zugleich persönliche und gemeinschaftliche Teilnahme aller an der Liturgie. Er trägt zur Vielfalt liturgischer Dienste bei durch den Einsatz eines Psalmisten (oder Kantors). Er vereinigt in sich die drei Schritte des liturgischen Dialogs: hören – bedenken – antworten.
    Celem artykułu jest zdefiniowanie natury i znaczenia psalmu responsoryjnego, który jest nowym elementem odnowionej po Soborze Watykańskim II liturgii Mszy św. Podstawowym problemem badawczym jest pytanie na ile psalm responsoryjny w liturgicznej praktyce ukazuje realizację zasadniczych założeń soborowej reformy liturgii. Dlatego też, w kontekście psalmu, analizie zostały poddane następujące kryteria odnowy liturgicznej: podkreślenie roli Biblii w liturgii, docenienie śpiewu jako istotnej części świętych czynności, czynny udział wszystkich wiernych oraz różnorodność posług liturgicznych. Całość artykułu została osadzona na tle historii i teologii przemian tego elementu liturgii.
    The purpose of this article is to define the nature and meaning of the responsorial psalm, which is a new element in the liturgy of the Mass since the renewal of the Second Vatican Council. The basic research problem is to what extent the responsorial psalm shows, in liturgical practice, an implementation of the fundamental principles of the Council’s reform of the liturgy. Therefore the following criteria for liturgical renewal were analyzed in the context of the psalm: emphasis of the role of the Bible in the liturgy; appreciation of singing as an essential part of sacred activities; the active participation of all the faithful; and diversity of liturgical ministries. The entire article is set against the background of the history and theology of changes in this element of the liturgy.

    Staying in the stream of the pastoral program of the Church in Poland, which is carried out under the slogan “Gathered at the Holy Supper,” the content of the article focuses on the analysis and synthesis of the documents of the Magisterium of the Church and theological publications on the Eucharistic sacrifice. First, the article discusses the Eucharistic making present of the sacrifice of the Cross as a gift of glorified Christ, and then draws attention to the active participation of the faithful in the Eucharistic making present of Calvary. The context of God’s mercy in the Eucharistic Sacrifice is also emphasized. The climax of the article is the interpretation of the eschatic dimension of the Eucharist, confirmed by the testimony of the life of Christians, joining in the sacrifice of Christ and in his death and resurrection, which result in the perfect joy of the saved in heaven.
    Pozostając w nurcie programu duszpasterskiego Kościoła w Polsce, realizowanego pod hasłem „Zgromadzeni na Świętej Wieczerzy”, treść artykułu koncentruje się na analizie i syntezie dokumentów Urzędu Nauczycielskiego Kościoła oraz publikacji teologicznych o Ofierze eucharystycznej. Artykuł omawia najpierw eucharystyczne uobecnienie Ofiary Krzyżowej jako daru Chrystusa uwielbionego, aby następnie zwrócić uwagę na potrzebę czynnego udziału wiernych w eucharystycznym uobecnieniu wydarzenia Kalwarii. Podkreśla się też kontekst miłosierdzia Bożego w Ofierze eucharystycznej. Zwieńczeniem artykułu jest interpretacja eschatycznego wymiaru Eucharystii, potwierdzona świadectwem życia chrześcijan, włączających się w ofiarę Chrystusa oraz w Jego śmierć i zmartwychwstanie, które owocują doskonałą radością zbawionych w niebie.

    Wielkie dzieło reformy liturgii z polecenia Vaticanum II dokonywało się stopniowo z pełną aprobatą papieża Pawła VI. W tym celu powołał specjalną Radę (Consilium) do wykonania soborowej Konstytucji o liturgii, która wydawała zatwierdzane przez papieża instrukcje zawierające szczegółowe wskazania dotyczące reformy liturgii i przygotowywała nowe księgi liturgiczne. Zaangażowanie Pawła VI w realizację reformy liturgii potwierdzają jego liczne wypowiedzi podczas audiencji generalnych, drukowane w czasopiśmie „Notitiae”. Autor artykułu analizuje te, które pochodzą z lat 1966-1969 i dotyczą głównie czynnego, wewnętrznego i zewnętrznego uczestnictwa wiernych (participatio actuosa) we Mszy św. oraz znaczenia języka narodowego w liturgii mszalnej.
    The great work of the reform of the liturgy that had been recommended by Vaticanum II was done gradually with Pope Paul VI’s full approval. With this aim in mind he established a special Council (Consilium) to implement the Vatican II Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy; the Council published instructions containing detailed directives concerning the reform of the liturgy that were approved by the Pope, and it prepared new liturgical books. Pope Paul VI’s involvement in the implementation of the reform of the liturgy is confirmed by his numerous statements during papal general audiences, published in the periodical Notitiae. The author of the article analyzes the speeches that were made in the years 1966-1969 and mainly concerned the active, inner and outer participation (participatio actuosa) of the faithful in the Holy Mass, and the significance of the vernacular language in the liturgy of the Mass.
