Opis:
The paper presents conclusions which are results of research on the use of high-speed drives operating in household appliances. The solutions that use three-phase or two-phase induction motors were taken into consideration. The assumed power of motors was up to 1 kW. The article describes the control process of power converters that is characterized by unity power factor and output voltages with the fundamental frequency up to 667 Hz. The requirements for control process were characterized and intelligent solutions were analysed, taking into account power outages, fluctuations, or accidental failures of supply voltage. The control functions of elaborated controller, such as current and speed control, drive start-up and control circuit supply were described.

Opis:
This paper presents predictive speed control of induction motor. The structure with finite control set and long prediction horizon is proposed. In methods with finite set of solutions there is assumed the use of signals that can be obtained in inverter only. Long prediction horizons allow better performance of predictive control structures to be achieved. In this case, long prediction horizon refers to systems with more than one prediction step. The weighting factors determine the properties of control structure via an optimization method using genetic algorithms. The results of simulation studies has been presented.

Opis:
An equivalent sliding mode control method of an induction motor speed has been discussed. The control signal consists of two parts: a continuous and discontinuous one. Very good dynamical response of the drive system has been obtained, which however changes influenced by external and parametric disturbances occurring under various operation conditions. In order to ensure identical dynamic performance of the speed transients and system robustness during the switching line reaching phase, regardless of external and parametric disturbances, the time-varying switching line is proposed. The simulation results have been validated by experimental tests of the induction motor drive system.

Opis:
This article presents a simple technique of identifying the initial speed that allows for restarting a sensorless induction motor (IM) drive controlled by a model predictive flux control (MPFC). Initial speed identification is required because, according to the research, the applied current-model reference adaptive system (C-MRAS) can restart the IM after failure only if the error of the initial speed set in the estimator is < 25%. The proposed technique is based on short periods of flux generation for the certain initial speed and observation of the estimated torque respond. The direction of the estimated torque determines whether the real speed is higher or lower than the initial one set in the estimator. In two steps, the algorithm identifies the initial speed with an accuracy of 25%. This allows for a quick restart of the IM from any speed, eliminating the disadvantage of the sensorless drive control system with the C-MRAS speed estimator. The experimental results measured on a 50 kW drive which illustrates the operation and performances of the system are presented.

Opis:
Today, a clear trend in electrification process has emerged in all areas to cope with carbon emissions. For this purpose, the widespread use of electric cars and wind energy conversion systems has increased the attention and importance of electric machines. To overcome limitations in mature control techniques, model predictive control (MPC) strategies have been proposed. Of these strategies, predictive torque control (PTC) has been well accepted in the control of electric machines. However, it suffers from the selection of weighting factors in the cost function. In this paper, the weighting factor associated with the flux error term is optimised by the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) algorithm through torque and flux errors. The NSGA-II algorithm generates a set of optimal solutions called Pareto front solutions, and a possible solution must be selected from among the Pareto front solutions for use in the PTC strategy. Unlike the current literature, three decision-making methods are applied to the Pareto front solutions and the weighting factors selected by each method are tested under different operating conditions in terms of torque ripples, flux ripples, cur-rent harmonics and average switching frequencies. Finally, a decision-making method is recommended.

This paper deals with the stability analysis of MRAS current speed estimator in a motoring and regenerating mode. The unstable operating points of the estimator, mainly in a regenerating mode are widely discussed. The expanded version of the estimator MRASCC is proposed to provide its stability in the whole operating range. The new correction coefficients for two analyzed stabilization methods are proposed. Finally, simulation results confirming the theoretical analysis are presented.

Opis:
The article discusses the universal current sensor fault detection and compensation mechanism, which can be applied in three-phase power electronics (PE) symmetrical system. The mechanism is based on the assumption that a symmetrical system can be described using different components in the stationary reference frame. The solution given in article as a Cri-base detector was tested in electrical drives with induction motors (IMs) and permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). This study also proves that the same algorithm can work stable in active rectifier systems. Such an application of this detector has not been previously reported in the literature. The article describes the detection of various types of faults in different phases. The fault-tolerant voltage-oriented control (FTVOC) of an active rectifier is compared with previously described solutions for IMs and PMSMs. By analysing in various types of systems, the work proves the universality of the detector based on Cri markers.

In the paper, the concept of universal speed and flux estimator with additional parameters estimators is presented. Proposed solution is based on the Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) type flux and speed estimator and can be used in different industrial systems (especially in the automotive applications). Induction Motor (IM) parameters are estimated using the systems based only on simple simulators and adaptive systems (voltage model and current model). Proposed system was tested in the sensorless induction motor drive with the Direct Field Oriented Control (DFOC) algorithm. Simulation and experimental results are presented in the paper.

Opis:
This paper aims to introduce a novel extended Kalman filter (EKF) based estimator including observability analysis to the literature associated with the high performance speed-sensorless control of induction motors (IMs). The proposed estimator simultaneously performs the estimations of stator stationary axis components of stator currents and rotor fluxes, rotor mechanical speed, load torque including the viscous friction term, and reciprocal of total inertia by using measured stator phase currents and voltages. The inertia estimation is done since it varies with the load coupled to the shaft and affects the performance of speed estimation especially when the rotor speed changes. In this context, the estimations of all mechanical state and parameters besides flux estimation required for high performance control methods are performed together. The performance of the proposed estimator is tested by simulation and real-time experiments under challenging variations in load torque and velocity references; and in both transient and steady states, the quite satisfactory estimation performance is achieved.

Opis:
In this article, model reference adaptive system (MRAS)-based estimator of a rotor resistance of an induction motor (IM) is presented. In contrast to the solutions known from the literature, the reference model of this estimator uses the measured values of the phase current and the adaptive part is a virtual current sensor. The article presents an accurate description of the algorithm taking into account the discrete equations for possible practical implementation in the microprocessor system. In the first step, the impact of motor parameters to stator current estimation quality in the adaptive model was checked. Subsequently, simulation tests of the proposed rotor resistance estimator were carried out for the field-oriented control of the induction motor drive system with a model of an induction motor with fixed parameters and an induction motor with a changing main inductance according to a magnetisation curve. The analysis of the estimator’s work showed its high efficiency and insensitivity to changes in the IM main inductance.
