Opis:
To improve the magnesia removal effect of collophane and increase the P2O5 grade of phosphorus concentrate, the fatty acid collector mixed with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was used as the compound collector in reverse flotation for magnesia removal in acid system. Solution surface tension measurement, Zeta potential test and infrared spectrum analysis were conducted to analyze the intensified effect of compound collector for dolomite removal. The results showed that under the conditions of grinding fineness -0.074 mm accounted for 89.8%, sulfuric acid dosage 12.0 kg/t, phosphoric acid dosage 3.0 kg/t, SDS compound proportion 3%, collector dosage 1.0 kg/t, the P2O5 grade of concentrate is increased from 25.7% to 29.94%. SDS can reduce the surface tension of slurry, which is conducive to the formation and stability of flotation foam. Zeta potential became negative due to the compound collector adsorbed on the mineral surface. Moreover, the -CH2 antisymmetric stretching vibration peak originated from fatty acid and SDS were detected after the interaction of collectors with dolomite. The compound collector was effectively adsorbed on the surface of dolomite, enhancing the magnesium removal effect of collophane.

Opis:
Fluorite and calcite have similar surface properties and natural floatability, so their flotation separation has always been a problem faced by the beneficiation industry. The key to flotation separation is the choice of depressants. Sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) has a good effect on fluorite calcite selective inhibition. In this paper, the effects of Zn2+ on the selective inhibition of SHMP in the flotation process of fluorite and calcite were studied through single mineral and artificial mixed mineral flotation experiments. Solution chemical calculation, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) analyses investigated the mechanism of action of Zn2+, which had the most significant negative effect on the selective inhibition of SHMP. The results show that the main components of SHMP inhibiting minerals are HPO42- and H2PO4-, which can react with Ca active sites on the mineral surface to form hydrophilic Ca(H22PO4)2 and CaHPO4, while Zn2+ The presence of HPO42- in solution resulted in the formation of stable ZnHPO4 complexes, thereby weakening the inhibitory effect of SHMP on minerals.

Opis:
Ethylene diamine phosphate (EDP), as a synthetic organic reagent, was used for the first time to leach malachite, and a new method of using organic amine to leach copper oxide ore was developed. The effects of stirring speed, particle size, reagent concentration, and reaction temperature on EDP-dissolution malachite were investigated. Results showed that malachite rapidly dissolved in EDP solution. The malachite-dissolving rate also increased with increased reagent concentration, increased reaction temperature, and decreased particle size. Stirring speed exhibited nearly no effect on EDP-induced malachite dissolution. The leaching kinetics was found to follow the shrinking-core model, and dissolution was controlled by surface chemical reaction with an activation energy of 52.63kJ×mol−1. A semiempirical rate equation was obtained to describe the dissolution process expressed as 1-(1-XCu)1/3=0.0149(CEDP)0.7814 × (Pmalachite)−0.7982×exp(−6.3308/T) ×t.

The effect of pH on surface characteristic and flotation of sulfidized cerussite was studied by micro-flotation tests, dissolution experiments, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The micro-flotation tests demonstrated that higher recovery of cerussite was achieved in acidic solutions than that in alkaline solutions. Despite the addition of high collector concentrations, cerussite flotation did not improved in alkaline solutions. The dissolution performance of sulfide-treated cerussite at different pH values indicated that the lead sulfide layer on the surface of sulfide-treated cerussite could exist in acidic solutions and it was more stable at acidic pH than in alkaline solutions. This finding was proved by the SEM-EDS and XPS analyses.

Ether diamine (Fm 2835-2L) was used as a collector for flotation of quartz. It allows flotation of quartz from mica and calcite. The adsorption mechanism of Fm 2835-2L on quartz was investigated by flotation tests, zeta-potential measurements and infra-red (FTIR) spectra measurements. Results show that Fm 2835-2L adsorbs on the quartz surface in physical adsorption with no new products, changing its zeta potentials, and increasing its hydrophobicity. The effect of calcium ions on flotation of quartz was investigated by flotation tests and zeta-potential measurements. Results show that under neutral or weakly acidic conditions calcium cation can adsorb onto the surfaces of quartz, increase the zeta potential of quartz particles, which in turn causes weaker aggregation of quartz particles and lower flotation recovery of quartz. Under the alkaline conditions the hydrolytic components of calcium are also adsorbed on the quartz surface and increase the zeta potential of quartz particles, which causes stronger aggregation of quartz particles and higher flotation recovery of quartz. However, the hydrolytic components such as CaOH+, Ca(OH)2(aq) and Ca(OH)2(s) were not formed in significant amounts in the best flotation tests.

The sodium fatty acids were firstly prepared by fatty acids with different iodine values which were from surfactant extraction using soybean oil fatty acid as raw material in this study. Effects of iodine value of sodium fatty acids on the flotation of collophanite were then investigated by flotation tests, contact angle measurements, adsorption tests, Krafft point measurements, foaming ability tests, and the resistance to the hard water measurements. Results show that the final flotation recovery was directly proportional to the iodine value of sodium fatty acid. Sodium fatty acid with higher iodine value has higher solubility and dispersity in the solutions, and stronger foaming ability and resistance to hard water. After interacting with collophanite, sodium fatty acid with higher iodine value made the mineral more hydrophobic, thus contributing to better flotation performances.

Improving the efficiency of precious metal recovery from spent Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst provides economic benefits and promises sustainable use of resources. Here we demonstrate highly efficient alkaline pressure leaching method for the extraction of vanadium (V) and tungsten (W) from spent SCR catalyst. We analyzed the effects of experimental parameters such as the stirring speed, leaching agent concentration, leaching temperature, liquid-to-solid ratio, and leaching time. The Box-Behnken design of experiments and the response surface methodology have been employed to understand the impact of the leaching parameters and the impact of their interactions on the leaching rate of V and W. The results showed that the leaching agent concentration significantly promoted the recovery of V and W; the influence of the reaction temperature and leaching time moderately increased the leaching rate of the metals. Moreover, the efficiency of the alkaline pressure leaching technique was determined by the interactions between leaching time and reaction temperature, and the relationships between reaction temperature and leaching agent concentration. By using the response surface methodology, the optimal leaching conditions were found that the leaching agent concentration was 4.75 molL-1, the leaching temperature was 190 °C, and the reaction time was 44.5 min, and the predicted values of V and W leaching rates were 95.76% and 98.36%, respectively. Based on the excellent fitting between modeling and experimental results demonstrated in this work, we conclude that our study can shed light on the development of highly efficient and sustainable metal recovery strategies for practical applications.

Micro-flotation and batch flotation tests were carried out on fine (-20 µm) hematite to investigate the influences of non-polar oil when sodium oleate, octyl hydroxamic acid, or oleoyl hydroxamic acid was used as a collector. Both micro-flotation and batch flotation tests were performed using single hematite mineral and/or artificial mixed minerals (hematite:quartz = 1:1), and kerosene was utilized as the neutral oil. The experimental results showed that the addition of a kerosene emulsion benefited hematite recovery in the micro-flotation tests where a froth layer did not exist. In the batch flotation where a froth layer existed, kerosene behaved differently when used in conjunction with the three collectors. Kerosene helped improve the batch flotation when sodium oleate or oleoyl hydroxamic acid was used as a collector. However, it reduced concentrate weight yield, grade and recovery to a noticeable extent when octyl hydroxamic acid was used as a collector, especially at low dosages. In addition, single hematite batch flotation kinetics tests coupled with water recovery measurement were carried out to study the role of kerosene at different collector dosages. It was observed that water drainage and the resulting froth destabilization by kerosene was dominant at low collector dosages, especially in the flotation using octyl hydroxamic acid. At higher collector dosages, the water drainage and froth destabilization effect by kerosene was possibly counter-balanced by the higher hematite surface hydrophobicity and bubble surface tension gradient, which led to more stable froth layer.

It is necessary to exploit an easy and effective way to obtain flotation collector. In this paper, oleic acid was modified by oxidation reaction to obtain an excellent collector. The flotation performances of oleic acid and its oxidation products were systematically investigated and a novel collector ((E)-8,11-dihydroperoxyoctadec-9-enoic acid, EDEA) was obtained. Single mineral flotation tests results showed that EDEA had strong flotation power towards quartz at pH>11 and hardly floated hematite and magnetite at pH=8~13. The recovery of quartz could achieve 92.35% with 120 mg/L EDEA under the condition of pH=12 and dosage of $CaCl_2$ 60mg/L while the recovery was 62.44% with 120 mg/L oleic acid. Bench scale flotation tests results showed that EDEA had a preferable effect on separating quartz from iron ore especially at low flotation temperature (288K). The mechanism research revealed that EDEA attracted on quartz surface through electrostatic attraction and the neighboring EDEA molecules could form intermolecular hydrogen bonds which resulted in a closer alignment of EDEA on quartz surface.

Coal slime is not only a solid waste, but also a source of energy. With the improvement of environmental protection requirements, the comprehensive utilization of slime has become an urgent problem for coal preparation plants. In this paper, we put forward a promising way of coal slime resource utilization. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF) and laser particle sizer was used to analyze the properties of coal slime. Obtained results showed that the slime was mainly composed of the coal, kaolinite and quartz with a particle size of -100 μm. Most kaolinite minerals can be enriched in overflow when the feed pressure is 0.2 MPa by using hydrocyclone. 21.3% clean coal with ash content of 12.3% and 33.46% kaolinite with particle size of -5 μm can be recovered by forward flotation and reverse flotation respectively. Coal water slurry with 61% concentration can be prepared from reject of forward flotation and concentrate of reverse flotation at shear rate of 100 s-1. This study has an important practical application value in clean and efficient utilization of coal.

The Fankou zinc concentrate (Guangdong province, China) was mineralogically characterized and results showed that the main germanium-bearing minerals in the sample comprised of zinc sulfide and galena, whereas gallium-bearing minerals were pyrite, sphalerite and silicate. Oxygen pressure leaching of zinc sulfide concentrate was carried out in order to investigate the effect of pressure, leaching time, sulfuric acid and copper concentrations on the leaching behavior of gallium and germanium. Under optimum conditions, leaching of Zn, Fe, Ge and Ga reached 98.21, 90.45, 97.45 and 96.65%, respectively. In the leach residues, it was determined that some new precipitates, such as PbSO4, CaSO4 and SiO2, were formed, which co-precipitated a certain amount of Ga and Ge from the leach solution. The results clearly indicated that Ga and Ge were much more difficult to leach than Zn, and provided answers to why the leaching efficiency of Ga is 10% lower when compared to Ge.

With high-grade apatite resources exhausted and economic development, enhancing the apatite quality from calcium gangue such as dolomite has a great significance for production. However, it is difficult to separate apatite from dolomite effectively due to the similar surface properties. In this study, the N-carboxybutyl chitosan ($CBC$) was tested as a potential selective depressant to separate apatite from dolomite in the sodium oleate ($NaOL$). Flotation results of single mineral and artificially mixed mineral confirmed the selective depression effect of CBC. The depression mechanism of $CBC$ was investigated using wettability analysis, Fourier Transform Infrared ($FTIR$), and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy ($XPS$) analyses. The results indicated that the $CBC$ adsorption quantity and intensity on the dolomite surface more than that on the apatite surface, which was due to $CBC$ absorbed on apatite surface by hydrogen bonding, while absorbed on dolomite surface mainly through chemical chelating between $Ca$ on the mineral surface and -COO- on the depressant. These adsorption differences led to the flotation separation of the two minerals.

The fine quartz particle hydration and effects of metal ions on the hydration characteristics of fine quartz surface are investigated using the rheological experiment. Several important factors affecting hydration factors, such as particle sphericity, solution pH, ion species, ion concentration were investigated. The results show that viscosity and hydration factor of fine quartz suspension increase with the increase of solution pH. wherein quartz particles have more negative charges on the surface in alkaline environment and strong hydration repulsion; The introduction of metal ions enhances the hydration strength of fine quartz surface to a certain extent. In contrast, high valence and high concentration will increase the viscosity of fine quartz suspension, and the hydration factors of particle surface also increase. At the same ion concentration, the order of influence on the hydration factors of fine quartz particles is Mg2+ > Ca2+ > Na+ > K+. This finding has been attributed to the combination of metal ion hydration and its adsorption on the mineral surface. This study will provide the theoretical guiding significance for the refractory coal slime water and other mineral processing wastewater containing quartz particles.

Reduction mechanisms of these iron minerals have been fully studied while the mechanism of reduction of chlorite is not well understood. In this study, a reduction roasting study examining the phase change of chlorite with roasting temperature was undertaken. The major finding from this study was that chlorite partially was reduced to magnetite by carbon at 750 ⁰C, and the newly formed magnetite was finely disseminated within quartz and olivine. It was demonstrated that these locked magnetite particles would be reported to iron concentrate by low intensity magnetic separation resulting in high impurity content, especially SiO2 and Al2O3 contents in the concentrate.
