Opis:
In this study, a polarization selective beam splitter constructed by only a single layer subwavelength multisubpart profile grating is presented. Rigorous coupled-wave analysis is adopted to investigate the properties of the structure. It is shown that for a transverse electric polarized wave, the device demonstrates very high reflectivity (>97%) from 1.46 to 1.58 μm; and for a transverse magnetic polarized wave, at the wavelength of 1.55 μm, it exhibits about 50/50 beam ratio under normal incidence. To evaluate the response of the polarizing beam splitters under variation in structure parameters, we also investigated the fabrication tolerances of the device.

Opis:
The digital holographic phase microscopy (DHPM) technique which has been proposed for cellular morphology and dynamic analysis yielded highly desirable results. However, for nucleated cells (especially white blood cells (WBCs)), their submicroscopic structure has not yet been deconstructed through a phase unwrapping method due to the heterogeneity of an internal phase. By analyzing the phase heterogeneity of subclasses of WBCs, the typical phase models of them are built first in this paper; using the simulation method, the wrapped phase distributions of these models are obtained. However, by optimizing the wrapped phase maps and analyzing the relationships between them and typical blood cells, their features are selected and extracted. Then the models built are sorted out from each other successfully without unwrapping via analyzing these extracted features, which provides a valuable approach and technological base for the classification and identification of blood cells.

Opis:
A novel approach to photonic generation of triangular radio frequency waveforms with a tunable repetition rate is proposed and analyzed. In the proposed system, a continuous-wave light is modulated by a reference microwave signal through a polarization modulator, and then its output optical sidebands are manipulated by a microwave photonic filter with a negative tap. By properly adjusting the system parameters, full-duty-cycle triangular radio frequency waveforms can be generated after optical-to-electrical conversion, and its repetition rate (frequency) can be tuned in a wide range. A model describing the proposed system is derived, which is verified via computer simulations.

Opis:
Bidirectional reflectance distribution function of some artificial satellite used materials at the wavelength of 1.06 μm was measured in laboratory. Bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) models of these materials were established with the five-parameter BRDF model. Laser radar cross-section of a scaled satellite with various materials was calculated, and characteristics of laser radar cross-section of the satellite were discussed. Measurement system to measure laser radar cross-section of the satellite was established and the scaled satellite model was measured. By analyzing the measured data and calculated data, it can be clearly seen that the BRDF of the surface materials and the laser incidence angle are two of main influential factors of the scaled satellite’s laser radar cross-section. These works can provide a reference for design of the lidar system.

Opis:
In this paper, a magnified holographic projection based on spatial light modulators is proposed and implemented by combining four magnification methods, including similarity principle of Fourier transform, spatial division, digital lens, and image splicing methods. The Fourier holographic display system is constructed for the experimental verification of the proposed methods. With such four methods of holographic magnification, the reconstruction image can be magnified to 10 × 5 times in two-dimensional directions, which is verified by the experiments. Furthermore, the undesirable light of holographic projection is eliminated by encoding the linear phase onto the computer-generated holograms. The experimental results prove that the proposed system can realize magnified holographic projection with good reconstructed quality, which provides a promising potential for the dynamic holographic projector.
