Opis:
The Nd10Fe83Zr1B6 alloy ribbons, prepared by melt-spinning technique, have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Mossbauer spectroscopy. Magnetic properties were studied by Faraday balance and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). The ribbon samples were produced at various surface velocities of the copper wheel from 10 m/s to 20 m/s. The XRD and Mossbauer spectra analysis have shown that the ribbons consist of the soft magnetic alfa-Fe, hard magnetic Nd2Fe14B and disordered phases. The results showed that a uniform Nd2Fe14B/alfa-Fe nanocomposite structure with fine alfa-Fe grains can be obtained at an optimum velocity of the cooper roll of 20 m/s. The samples produced in these conditions had the best magnetic properties (mi0HC= 0.84 T, mi0MR = 1.05 T, mi0MS = 1.36 T, (BH)max = 160 kJ/m3) with strong exchange coupling between the hard magnetic Nd2Fe14B and soft magnetic mi-Fe phases. The amorphous phase existing between grains causes an increase in the remanence and remanence ratio.

Opis:
The paper presents results of microstructure and magnetic properties studies of Nd8.5Tb1.5Fe83Zr1B6 ribbons obtained by melt-spinning technique. The samples were produced using the rapid cooling of liquid alloy on the copper wheel, by applying three different linear velocities 20, 30, and 35 m/s. The microstructure of obtained ribbons was examined using X-ray diffractometry and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Magnetic measurements were performed using LakeShore vibrating sample magnetometer. The microstructure measurements were used for quantitative and qualitative analysis of phase composition. Basing on results of structure studies combined with magnetic measurements, the infl uence of phase composition on hysteresis loop behavior was described.

Opis:
Joining of metals with ceramics is very difficult, because properties of these materials are very different. One of the methods of improving mechanical strength of the obtained joints is the introduction of an additional interlayer to the joining area. This paper presents the Zr and Cu-rich layers in C and SiC substrates obtained using the high intensity pulsed plasma beams method. The results of Zr plasma modifications were beneficial and similar to the results obtained in previous works with Ti. The measured contact angles were below 90 centigrade. The results with Cu plasma were unfavourable with contact angles close to 180 centigrade. Apart from the sessile-drop test and to extend the range of analysis, the investigated samples were examined by stereoscopic optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS), grazing angle X-ray diffraction (GXRD), and Rutherford back scattering (RBS) measurements.

Opis:
The amorphous and nanocrystalline (Fe1 xCox)85.4Zr6.8 yMyB6.8Cu1 (x = 0 or 0.1, y = 0 or 1, M = Mo, Nb or Nd) alloys were studied using Mössbauer spectroscopy. We have stated that after the low temperature annealing of the samples the decrease of the average hyperfine field due to the Invar effect was observed. This effect is associated with the increase of atom packing density after the annealing of the samples, which may lead to the noncolinear spin state in some regions. This phenomenon was completely suppressed after substitution of 10% of Fe atoms by Co atoms. At early stages of crystallization of the Fe85.4Zr6.8 yMyB6.8Cu1 (y = 0 or 1, M = Mo, Nb or Nd) alloys, the interfacial zone is poor in iron due to diffusion of Zr, B, Nb, Mo and Nd atoms outside regions where á-Fe fine grains are created. However, the iron content in the amorphous matrix is the same as in the as-quenched state. The iron concentration in the interfacial zone of the nanocrystalline alloys obtained by the accumulative annealing depends on the chemical composition of the as-quenched samples. In the nanocrystalline samples obtained by two-step annealing, the iron content in the interfacial layer is higher than in the amorphous matrix.
