Opis:
Warehouse and inventory management is a recurring issue in many of the different supply chains in diverse industries, where the constant changes in the markets have a direct impact on the management of warehouses and inventories, either generating over-stocks or shortages. This paper presents a case study on warehouse and inventory management control. The company under study was having problems in this area, where over-stocks were generated frequently, leading to various incidents, such as having to store finished and packaged product in unsuitable places, with the associated risk of deterioration. To deal with this problem, control tools based on the KPI (Key Performance Indicator) concept were developed. To this end, the corresponding problem and the information management process within the Supply Chain department had to be analyzed. In this case, it was observed that the databases were not synchronized, therefore strategies were proposed to systematize the collection and updating of data. In addition, to summarize the information, we proceeded to the implementation of an interactive form that facilitates the visualization and interpretation of the evolution of the process, and to be able to apply an efficient control on it, and thus to propose corrective actions supported by evidence.

The 1 to 1 relationships of charts of accounts, accounting journals and tables of accounting records with corresponding tables of accounts, business transactions and transactional records in the framework EPC II system have been presented in the paper. These tables are the main information kinds, that is tables in which one can write down all information needed for management and business process control in any enterprise, or they are composed of them. In this way it has been shown that the Theory of Enterprise Process Control is compatible with generally accepted accounting principles. This analysis is an example of demonstrating conformity of the EPC II theory with real management and process control systems. The main information kinds with their key attributes were taken from the complete list of them, which is included in the paper. What is more, the tight relationships between resource flow in business processes and turnover on the accounts of the framework EPC II system have been discussed. Owing to these relationships one can determine the impact of any decision variable on the accounting records in a given enterprise.

An original fuzzy team control model is presented in this article. The model is based on a non-traditional combination of classical and contemporary achievements of management and mathematical theories of fuzzy logic and fuzzy sets. In methodological terms, the article also offers a set of tools for measuring and evaluating both team performance and the effectiveness of the team control system in the organization. Fuzzy tools and techniques for decision-making, studying of hidden effects and joint influences, and quantification of evaluations are employed in this set of tools. The suggested fuzzy model contributes to overcoming theoretical deficits on the issues of team control, and the methodology of team control fills a gap in the toolkit of team management. The results from verification of the fuzzy team control model at a small-sized Bulgarian enterprise are also discussed in this article. They indicate that it is possible to develop a fuzzy model for team control, increasing the effectiveness of the team control system in the enterprise.

Abstract Meeting quality characteristics of products and processes is an important issue for customer satisfaction and business competitiveness. It is necessary to integrate new techniques and tools that improve and complement traditional process variables analysis. This paper proposes a new methodological approach to analyze process quality control variables using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps. Application of the methodology in the production process of carbonated beverages allowed identifying process variables with the greatest influence on finished product quality. The process variables with the greatest impact on carbon dioxide content in the beverage were the beverage temperature in the filler, the carbo-cooler pressure, and the filler pressure.

Internetworked e-Work is enabling new channels in cyber space for collaboration among physical and cyber agents, e.g., humans, robots, software agents. Research on Collaborative Control Theory (CCT) indicates that building and augmenting the Collaborative Intelligence (CI) of participants in cyber-physical networks can provide better support for achieving their individual and common goals. In spite of its rising significance and popularity, however, no clear and precise definition and universal quantitative measure has been proposed for the CI. In this article, we first formalize the CI by suggesting a formal definition, based on the definitions of its elements - collaboration and intelligence. We then propose a quantitative measure for the CI, adapted from the universal intelligence measure. For illustration, we analyze three recent collaborative e-Work studies at three different scales: (1) Telerobotenabled computer supported collaborative design; (2) Collaborative product line control in supply networks; (3) Demand and capacity sharing in multi-enterprise collaboration. From these case studies, common advantages such as work efficiency, network robustness and stability, service level, resource utilization, and collaboration cost are observed, analyzed, and translated into formal CI measures. Results indicate significant impacts of CI on the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of collaborative activities in emerging e-Work networks.

Lead times and their nature have received limited interest in literature despite their large impact on the performance and the management of supply chains. This paper presents a method and a case implementation of the same, to establish the behavior of real lead times in supply chains. The paper explores the behavior of lead times and illustrates how in one particular case they can and should be considered to be independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.). The conclusion is also that the stochastic nature of the lead times contributes more to lead time demand variance than demand variance.

Electric energy systems need constant modernization and updating to solve such problems as distributed management, self-sealing, improving the quality of electricity, demand management, and integration of renewable energy systems. Currently, energy systems need advanced and intelligent technologies to perform various system-level tasks. The purpose of this research is to analyze the existing control systems of electric energy systems, as well as to consider the possibility of using multi-agent systems to control electric energy systems. To achieve the aim of the research, the following scientific approaches were implemented: method of direct research, experimental method, questioning, comparative method, analysis method, and method of observation. The primary value of the research is in the novelty of the work and the fact, that functional components in multi-agent systems act as independent agents, which can interact with each other through a message communication system. This provides a simple connection between the components, which can benefit complex systems designed for an intelligent network. The intelligent network provides an efficient energy management system, and the modernization of the existing power system using a multi-agent system provides solutions to many problems. The best implementation of a multi-agent system can be achieved through the employment of fast and protected communication protocols. The authors of the research have conducted research and presented key statistical data on electricity usage in Kazakhstan over the past few years. The practical significance of the research is determined by the applied results, and their scientific significance, which is conditioned upon the use of deep, modern mathematical results and the development of an optimal control system. This research is a part of a universal model and optimal system of emergency quick response, conducting a quick preliminary prognosis as well as ensuring more lasting planning in electricity consumption.

Integrated monitoring system for discrete manufacturing processes is presented in the paper. The multilayer hardware and software reference model was developed. Original research are an answer for industry needs of the integration of information flow in production process. Reference model corresponds with proposed data model based on multilayer data tree allowing to describe orders, products, processes and save monitoring data. Elaborated models were implemented in the integrated monitoring system demonstrator developed in the project. It was built on the base of multiagent technology to assure high flexibility and openness on applying intelligent algorithms for data processing. Currently on the base of achieved experience an application integrated monitoring system for real production system is developed. In the article the main problems of monitoring integration are presented, including specificity of discrete production, data processing and future application of Cyber-Physical-Systems. Development of manufacturing systems is based more and more on taking an advantage of applying intelligent solutions into machine and production process control and monitoring. Connection of technical systems, machine tools and manufacturing processes monitoring with advanced information processing seems to be one of the most important areas of near future development. This study investigates (1) the effect of quality information on quality performance through process control and (2) the moderating role of shop floor leadership on the relationship between quality information and quality performance in the context of manufacturing plants on a global basis. The moderated mediation analysis with a bootstrapping approach was employed to analyse data for hypotheses testing. The data is from the fourth-round dataset of the High- Performance Manufacturing Project, collected from manufacturing plants worldwide. The results indicate that (1) quality information is positively associated with quality performance through process control, and (2) shop floor leadership (i.e., supervisory interaction facilitation) positively moderates the indirect effect of quality information on quality performance; that is, the shop floor leadership practice strengthens the effect of quality information on quality performance through process control. This study also has a practical implication for top managers who should consider the vital role of leadership practices adopted by shop floor supervisors in implementing total quality management practices and should raise awareness that leadership practices are not only for the ‘C-suite’ but also for shop floor supervisors.
