Opis:
Firstly, in this paper, based on the theory of the porous elastic medium and combined with the effective stress principle of unsaturated soil, a set of governing equations is established to describe consolidation of the unsaturated soil. Secondly, an analytical expression under any dynamic loads is obtained with the help of Laplace integral transformation. Finally, analysis of numerical examples under specific boundary conditions is made to discuss one-dimensional consolidation characteristics under harmonic loads and the influence of factors on the consolidation characteristics of unsaturated soil, such as excitation frequency and initial saturation.

Opis:
The structural modeling and dynamic properties of a spinning beam with an unsymmetrical cross section are studied. Due to the eccentricity and spinning, transverse deflections along the two principal directions and the torsional motion about the longitudinal axis are coupled. The structural model of the beam is established based on the Hamilton principle and by incorporating the torsional inertia. Moreover, because of its significant influence on characteristics for the non-circular cross-sectional beam, the warping effect is considered in the formulation. The proposed model is effectively validated in two cases: the spinning beam with a symmetric cross section and the cantilevered beam with an unsymmetrical cross section. Then the effects of the spinning speed on natural frequencies and mode shapes are investigated. Numerical results reveal that the critical speed is altered with respect to noncoincidence of the centroid and the shear center. For the beams with strong warping rigidities, the warping effect cannot be neglected due to significant influence on natural frequencies.

The dynamic response and isolation performance of a Quasi-Zero-Stiffness (QZS) vibration isolator using inclined springs as negative stiffness correctors under random excitation are presented in this paper. The probabilistic linearization method is employed to determine the dynamic response of the QZS vibration isolator and compared with the exact solution based on the Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov (FPK) equation and the equivalent linearization method. Two performance indexes (Mean Square Relative Displacement (MSRD) and Mean Square Acceleration (MSA)) are considered to evaluate the isolation performance of the QZS vibration isolator under random excitation and compared with the equivalent linear vibration isolator. The results show that the MSRD of the QZS vibration isolator is always lower than the equivalent linear vibration isolator, while the MSA of the QZS vibration isolator can be larger or lower than the equivalent linear vibration isolator based on the values of damping ratio and spectral density of the random excitation

The influence of tongue weight on a Trailer-Mounted Recreational Vehicle (TMRV) is studied. A multi-body dynamic model of the TMRV was established, three typical vehicle stability tests were carried out. Tongue weight had different effects on the tractor and Recreational Vehicle (RV). According to different loads, the critical tongue weight range was given. In addition, the tongue weight of the existing models was optimized and suggestions for improvement were put forward. The analysis results show that the tongue weight should be within a reasonable range which can ensure the tractor understeer and keep the lateral stability of the RV.

In the study of wear behavior of tribo-pairs in reciprocating pumps, the tribo-pairs can be considered as contact pairs consisting of a disc and pin. In this paper, pin-on-disc wear tests were carried out by using two types of cast iron pin specimens with different materials. Additionally, the effects of the lubrication condition, test load, diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating and plateau honing cross-hatch pattern on wear behavior of the tribo-pairs were investigated. Experimental results based on surface topography analysis and scanning elec- tron micrograph (SEM) analysis show that the lubricant and DLC coating have a positive effect on wear resistance of test specimens. Disc specimens of three material types (i.e. ISO 185/JL/250, tin-bronze, zirconia) are able to show good anti-wear behavior. The tribo-pairs composed of spheroidal graphite cast irons as well as implementation of the plateau honing cross hatch on disc specimens have no significant effect on the wear resistance. The Archard model was used to estimate abrasive wear under dry conditions, which was over-predicted compared to the experimental results.

The wave motion equations of a tapered beam with respect to axial, torsional and flexural deformations are deduced including the transmission and waveguide equations. Combining the force equilibrium and displacement coordination conditions at the junction, we obtain the relation between the wavenumber and frequency, and the band gap properties of periodic tapered beam structures by the Bloch theorem. The modeling accuracy and efficiency of the traveling wave method are verified by the finite element method. The band gap properties of periodic tampered and uniform beam structures are analyzed and compared for the same materials and lengths as well as the same volumes.

Aiming at the problems of parameter disturbance and coupling disturbance in a vehicle drive axle loading test-bed, this paper used the adaptive backstepping sliding mode control (ABSMC) strategy to design the controller for the speed and torque system. The effectiveness of the controller has been verified by simulation and an experiment. The results show that the equivalent moment of inertia is increased by 5 times, and the step response overshoot of the speed system is 4.1%. By adding a random disturbance, the sinusoidal tracking errors of the speed and torque systems are 0.05 r/min and 0.09Nm, respectively.

A new model, accurate and easy-to-apply, has been proposed to predict the residual strength for metal plates intact or with different damage degrees. In this model, we introduced the damage degree factor (DDF) to quantify the initial damage condition of a plate. The middle crack tension (M(T)) tests and multiple site damage (MSD) tension tests were performed on plate specimens in aluminum alloy LY12-CZ and 2524-T3, respectively. For various damage degrees, the predicted results of this new model showed an improved correlation with test results compared to the net section yield criterion, K-apparent criterion and Duong’s method.

Experiments of a sphere oblique impact with and without an initial spin have been carried out to obtain properties of the impact interface. The contact surface is recorded with a piece of thin carbon paper. The interfacial parameters measured are expressed as axis length, contact area and slip ratio. It is found that for the impact between steels the forward spin can make geometrical sizes of the contact surface increase compared with the case of no initial spin, however, just the reverse for the backward spin. The effect of the initial spin becomes more apparent for the impact with a rubber cushion. Whether the initial spin promotes or hinders the sphere sliding depends on the parameters of tangential velocity and force at the interface.

Opis:
A power split hybrid electric vehicle with dual planetary gear sets is studied in this paper. Firstly, the power split and circulation phenomenon are further described by analyzing a speed and torque relationship between the engine, motors and the output shaft based on the lever analogy. The transmission efficiency and the electric power ratio are then obtained. The working modes of the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) are divided according to the system operation mechanism. On this basis, the engine optimal operating line (OOL) control strategy and the mechanical point (MP) control strategy are designed. Furthermore, a fuzzy controller is designed to realize the optimal torque distribution of the engine and the motors in the MP control strategy. Simulation results demonstrate that the MP control strategy can guarantee a higher efficiency of the transmission system, which also shows good performance in improving fuel economy of the HEV by adjusting the engine operating point.

To explore the mechanical response of anchored rock mass with an interaction of fatigue and creep, this paper selects the fatigue amplitude and fatigue frequency as influencing factors to carry out a fatigue-creep experiment of the anchored rock mass. Based on fractional order theory and binary perturbation theory, a new fractional order creep model is constructed. The results show that compared with the Burgers model, the newly proposed creep model can better describe the whole process of creep deformation of the anchored jointed rock mass under fatigue loading.

Rubber tubes under pressure can undergo large deformations and exhibit a particular nonlinear elastic behavior. In order to reveal mechanical properties of rubber tubes subjected to internal pressure, large deformation analysis and stability analysis have been proposed in this paper by utilizing a modified Gent’s strain energy function. Based on the nonlinear elastic theory, by establishing the theoretical model of a rubber tube under internal pressure, the relationship between the internal pressure and circumferential principal stretch has been deduced. Meanwhile stability analysis of the rubber tube has also been proposed and the relationship between the internal pressure and the internal volume ratio has been achieved. The effects on the deformation by different parameters and the failure reasons of the rubber tube have been discussed, which provided a reasonable reference for the design of rubber tubes.

A severe oscillation, accompanied with an abnormal “click” sound, of a fuel feeding pipe system during valve closing, when the feeding flowrate reaches a certain value, is observed experimentally. A fluctuation model in which stiffness and damping coefficients of the vibration system are time varying is proposed. Each coefficient is composed of two parts, one of which is constant and the other is time varying. Based on this model, simulation transients of the vibration displacement, velocity and pressure in the pipe are presented. Simulations of the pressure transients are compared with experimental data detected by pressure transducer, which shows that both have fluctuations in the transient process at a large flowrate.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of interlayer bonding conditions on the mechanical performance of a synthetic sports track with time. A two-dimensional finite element model of the synthetic sports track was developed in order to calculate the track temperature stress and strain in thermal environmental conditions. Thermal and structural responses of the multi-layer sports ground were simulated using a transient thermal and structural analysis in one day. Based on that, different physical parameters of the interlayer were considered to analyze the influence of the bonding layer status on the potential damage of the surface layer in the sports track. The results indicated that different bonding conditions would affect the strain difference between the top and bottom of the synthetic sports layer, which might cause a weak mechanical performance of the synthetic sports layer. Finally, 2D finite element analysis was regarded to be a proper tool to simulate the transient thermal and mechanical behavior of the synthetic sports track. The suggested simulation model can predict the influence of bonding conditions on damage of the synthetic sports track, which can provide some guidance for engineers and technicians working on constructions of synthetic sports tracks.
