Opis:
Despite undoubted advantages of a 5-cylinder in-line engine, its basic drawback is the lack of partial balancing the torque variability generated by gas forces by means of the torque caused by inertia forces. Such a desired phenomenon occurs in 4-cylinder engines. Accordingly, these engines - within a wide range of rotational speed -demonstrate greater engine smoothness than potentially better 5-cylinder engines. In the article, a concept of generating the moment of inertia forces by means of the proper rollers reducing the amplitude of the moment caused by gas forces is presented. Such a solution will allow for a significant mitigation of vibrations of 5-cylinder engines, and they are in many respects better than 4-cylinder ones, which has been justified more extensively in this article. The paper concerns the opportunity of constructing a 5-cylinder engine of the external torque stability equivalent to the torque stability of a 4-cylinder engine. It will allow obtaining a much better unit from the commonly used present 4-cylinder engines for the drive of passenger cars. An engine of the same swept capacity in the 5-cylinder rather than 4-cylinder version will be characterized by numerous advantages, and first and foremost: the space between the front wheels of the vehicle will be optimally used. 4-cylinder engine generates vary large summary forces of the 2nd order, which is manifested by intensive vibrations in the plane axis of the cylinders.

Opis:
The most common design solution are cycloidal gearboxes with two discs, in which the reaction forces of bearings from the working discs create a bending moment on the high-speed input shaft, additionally affecting bearings. In the article are presented the results of tests of the cycloid gear prototype with three discs. Instead of the second disc, the introduction of two side discs, 1800 from the centre disc, allows you to reduce this moment to zero. To compensate for the unbalance of the shaft, the side discs have half the width of the centre disc. Each disc works with its own, separate set of bronze rollers, separated by Teflon washers, which should reduce the friction forces. In the article are presented the results of the tests of the cycloid gear prototype determining basic parameters such as efficiency, torque fluctuations on the input and output shaft, housing vibrations in three directions. FFT analysis of registered parameters showed high compliance of the designated frequencies for different measured signals. The assumed advantages, i.e. high efficiency and low vibration level in the tested range, were confirmed. The results are presented in the form of three-dimensional graphs as functions of speed and torque. High efficiency (80-90) % was obtained for load moments above 150 Nm, which is practically independent of the rotational speed with which the cycloid gearing works. The oil temperature during the tests was maintained in the range of 36oC ± 2oC. The maximal torque of the cycloidal gear was 500 Nm.

Opis:
Cycloidal gear is characterized by [2]: – Large ratio (up to 171:1) from one stage of reduction, which minimizes the weight and dimensions of the reducer. – Minimizing the centrifugal forces as the only high-speed element is the input shaft with an eccentric bearing. – Minimizing internal clearance due to simultaneous meshing of a large number of teeth. In contrast to gears with involute teeth, 10-50% of teeth are found in cycloidal gears with simultaneous meshing. It depends on the size of the gear and the load. The minimum number of teeth engages when running in bulk. – Low noise and low vibration for large torques and variable speeds. – High efficiency in a wide range of loads, because rolling elements are used in every place responsible for the transfer of torque. – Permissible load up to 500% of the rated torque. All above mention point lead into long-term and trouble-free operation, however the above features require high accuracy. The article described comparison of efficiency, vibration and noise obtained for 3 cycloidal gear modules: 1. Two-disc gear with single rollers for both discs (Chmurawa prototype [1]). 2. Three-disc gearbox with separate rollers for each disc (new idea) with gear components: output shaft with pins, housing with rollers (wheel with internal tooting), and input shaft, made with the manual lathe. 3. The same three-disc gearbox with output shaft with pins made with the CNC. Different levels of accuracy and thus corresponding vibration patterns were obtained.

A vibratory pile hammer (VPH) is a mechanical device used to drive steel piles as well as tube piles into soil to provide foundation support for buildings or other structures. In order to increase the stability and the efficiency of the VPH work in the over-resonance frequency, a new VPH construction was developed in the Military University of Technology. The new VPH contains a system of counter-rotating eccentric weights, powered by hydraulic motors, and designed in such a way that horizontal vibrations cancel out, while vertical vibrations are transmitted into the pile. This system is suspended in the static parts by the adaptive variable stiffness pillows based on a smart material, magnetorheological elastomer (MRE), which rheological and mechanical properties can be reversibly and rapidly controlled by an external magnetic field. The work presented in the paper is a part of the modified VPH construction design process. It concerns the development of the numerical model of the VPH and soil interaction that will describe resonance conditions, resonance frequencies with consideration of soil susceptibility, coupling phenomenon and elastomer changeable stiffness. On the base of developed theoretical equations, the frequency of VPH piling will be regulated to assure the over-resonance work.

Vibration measurements are now widely applied and developed field of science. The article is an example of the application of that field diagnostic using the accelerometer. The study was conducted at Honda GX630 combustion engine in a current generator system. The generator is characterized in that it can be powered by either liquid fuel, or which gas. The results of vibration measurements is presented for (both) gas mixtures containing varying concentrations, as well as for gasoline. The paper presents the results of the vibration, based on an analysis of the time and frequency domain, using Fast Fourier Transform. In the analysis analogue filters, and digital filters (windowing) was used. The analysis includes proposals concerning vibrations difference for individual substances in comparison to vibrations of engine powered a classic, liquid fuel. To simplify the analysis, and thus the discussion on the results, the data presented in the charts with honours major changes in the received, digitized results. Measurements and results presented in the article were carried out as part of a pilot project to support research and development in scale demonstration DEMONSTRATOR+ (WND- DEM-1-527 / 001).

Minehunters are subjected to specific sea loads due to waving and dynamical impacts associated with underwater explosion. Sea waving can be sufficiently exactly modelled by means of statistical methods. Much more problems arise from modelling impacts due to underwater explosion. Knowledge of a character of impulse loading which affects ship shaft line can make it possible to identify potential failures by means of on-line vibration measuring systems. The problem of influence of sea mine explosion on hull structure is complex and belongs to more difficult issues of ship dynamics. Underwater explosion is meant as a violent upset of balance of a given system due to detonation of explosives in water environment. A paper presents a proposal of identification of a degree of hazard the ship's hull forced from underwater explosion. A theoretical analysis was made of influence of changes of hull structure in vicinity of hull. The main problem of naval vessels is a lack of dynamical requirements of stiffness of the hull. Modelled signals and hull structure were recognized within sensitive symptoms of three sub models: model of hull structure, model of impact and model of propulsion system. All sub models allow testing forces and their responses in vibration spectrum using SIMULINK software and FEM models.

Opis:
The aim of analysis presented in the article is results of measurements of torsional deflections of a crankshaft of three-cylinder internal combustion diesel engine. The wavelets of the run of torsional twists were processed by decomposition to harmonics using FFT. In order to exactly recognize all dynamic aspects of gas forces acting during working stroke, decomposition was done in two ways: first one relaying on records encompassing one working cycle (two revolutions), the second one based at separated periods encompassing angular an interval from TDC (Top Dead Centre) of one cylinder to TDC of subsequent in firing order. For three-cylinder engine, width of the interval is 240 degrees of crank angle. In order to obtain reliable results, torsional deflection signals acquisitions were recorded numerous times including changes of outer conditions (temperature, atmospheric pressure) and different values of the engine loads. The main goal of conducted experiments was looking for an answer of a question if exist any differences between frequency spectrums of harmonics of run of full cycle ( two revolutions) and the same cycle divided by three separate intervals. Analysis was conducted in order to state any possibility of diagnostic signals acquisition caused by abnormalities of combustion process. Results were presented in form of comparison of frequency spectra taken from full cycle and divided intervals.

Opis:
As a result of applying the hydrodynamic lubrication theory in the piston-cylinder group of a combustion engine, the authors have obtained the opportunity for practical elimination of abrasion of this unit. However, it turns out that in the case of the engine start, especially after a longer standstill and before the oil film is formed, the piston lateral surface’s micro-roughness comes into direct contact with the cylinder bearing surface. For this reason, manufacturers more and more commonly apply a special layer on the lateral surface of a piston, which decreases the friction force and eliminates very damaging effects of the so-called semi-dry friction. It turns out that applying an enriching layer on the lateral surface of the piston may result in an additional effect, which is not usually associated with the pistoncylinder unit. This effect is the damping of torsional vibrations. Thus, despite the seemingly insignificant properties of materials which the elements of the kinematic pair are made of, as a result of the occurrence of the layer with specific properties on these elements, one may find that these layers – even when they are separated by the oil film – can change the parameters of collaboration of the elements of the kinematic pair. In particular, it concerns generating and damping vibrations, and in such circumstances frictional losses may also be subject to change, which is the main domain of the conducted research presented in this paper. The article analyzes various effects which are caused by applying a special layer formed of carbon nanotubes (NCT in short) on the lateral surface of the piston.

Continuous monitoring of diesel engine performance under its operating is critical for prediction of malfunction development and subsequently functional failure detection. Analysis of Instantaneous angular Speed (IAS) of the crankshaft is considered as one of non-intrusive and effective method of detection of combustion quality deterioration. The paper contains presentation of attempt of monitoring of piston engine’s crankshaft torsional vibrations by measurement of Instantaneous Angular Speed at free and power output ends of the engine. It is assumed that calculation of differential value of angular distance run between both ends in the same time shall give the picture of torsion angle magnitudes and phases of the peak values. Fir carrying out such measurements, high frequency of sampling was required. The angular speed measurements is to be done utilising two optical sensors for reading and two perforated discs mounted at shaft’s ends playing the role of speed signal emitters. In the paper is presented description of the measurement system and explanation of its mode of work. It is also shown analysis of measurement accuracy, way errors elimination and method of signals runs filtration. Presented results of experiment derives from test cycle carried out using laboratory stand of Gdynia Maritime University equipped with 3- cylinder self - ignition engine, powering electric generator.

The article describes processing method of a signal, coming from torsional deflections of an internal combustion piston engine’s crankshaft, registered using two optical encoders ETNP-10. Standard measurement and recording set ETNP-10 enables recording of Instantaneous Angular Speed values encompassing 10 revolutions of the crankshaft, what is equal to 5 cycles of four-stroke engine. That time duration is sufficient for analysis of changes of angular speed caused by, for example, malfunction of fuel injection valve, but is insufficient in case of observation characterized by low frequency changes with period of fluctuations, lower than 0.8 sec. Short time for recording makes impossible following of instantaneous angular speed deviations caused by magnitude modulation of engine’s load value. In the article is presented an algorithm written in MATLAB environment, which allows processing of the data recorded using the recorder DAS 1600 Sefram. The recorded this way signals have around 26 seconds' duration of engine work. Data acquired from two encoders mounted at opposite sides of the shaft, in form of square magnitude signals are transformed into instantaneous speed and subsequently to instantaneous angular shift, what is basis for torsions calculation. In the article is also presented method of elimination of systematic error due to assumed method of averaging. Finally, some examples of results of torsional deflection measurement and analysis are presented.

In this paper, the results of an experimental fatigue analysis of the compressor blades with the mechanical defects were presented. Before the fatigue test, the blades were damaged in order to simulate the foreign object damage. In this operation, the v-notch was created by hitting the hard object into leading edge of the blade. The similar kind of damage occurs when the small particles as stones or sandy grains are sucked to the engine inlet and next have a collision with the rotated blade. As a result of the impact, both the plastic strains and also the initial stresses occur in the vicinity of the notch. These stresses have a large influence on the number of load cycles to crack initiation. During the experiment, the blades were entered into transverse vibration with the use of Unholtz-Dickie TA-250 vibration system. The crack propagation process was conducted in resonance conditions. During the fatigue test the blades were periodically bent. In investigations, the different vibration amplitudes of the blade were considered. During the fatigue test, the crack length was monitored with the use of non-destructive fluorescent penetrant method. The amplitude of the blade tip displacement was controlled using the Polytec PSV H-400S laser scanning vibrometer. The main aim of this work is analysis of influence of the vibration amplitude on the fatigue life of the compressor blade of the turbine engine. The results of presented investigations are important from the research and also from the practical point of view and have an influence on safety and reliability of the turbine engine.

The article presents a methodology of non-destructive diagnostic vibratory tests of welded plates with geometrical parameters that classify them into a group of thin-walled panels. On the basis of such plates, most ship constructions are created. In previous works, the authors dealt with the study of welded joints in plates with significant thicknesses and developed for them a number of methods for assessing the quality of welded joints. Vibrodiagnostics is a NDT method that allows the use of a variety of techniques and tools. It enables measurements to be made in both a contact and non-contact way depending on the requirements of the structure and the environment. Vibrodiagnostic method is one of the most modern NDT methods, which uses modern measurement tools and computer analysis of data. On the basis of the developed methods, the authors intend to verify their application to plates from real welded constructions, which will be performed in typical shipyard conditions by welders. Such tests are important due to their use for the construction of a real SHM ship construction monitoring system. These methods allow for the examination of the condition of ships’ structural plates and can detect defects in welded joints that prevent ships from operating under severe sea conditions. The article presents the laboratory stand, the sensor layout, results, and their initial analysis.
