This paper presents the results of the studies on a special vehicle Polaris Ranger 6×6 800 equipped with the ”Crossbow” antiaircraft rocket launcher, manufactured by TELESYSTEM-MESKO Sp z o. o. Implementation and Manufacture Centre. The supporting structure of the launcher made the main object of the analysis. The essential goal of that undertaking was to obtain a structure of resistance assuring reliable system operation in various conditions of use. In order to reach that goal, the experimental as well as the model tests have been performed on the launcher vehicle. The experimental tests were carried out during multi-variant rides on the paved roads and in the wilderness of significant level of unevenness. Significant information on the level, directions and nature of affecting dynamic loads and the effects of their influence on the vehicle elements. The analysis of obtained results also provided the data required for a development of a model of the object of the studies. A MES model of the object of the studies was prepared in the LS-DYNA system. A high pressure was put on modelling a complex chassis of the launcher and mutual reaction of assemblies and parts. A generalized issue on the own properties was solved – frequencies and associated forms of vibrations of own main assemblies were designated. Resistance calculations were carried out for assumed loads. In principle, loads imposed by normative requirements for a particular class of armament and military equipment were assumed. Loads resulting from potential conditions of use and installation on other carriers were also included. The tests were performed for various load variants. Sensitive elements of the chassis were modified and highly satisfying results were obtained. It gives a reason to think that the chassis is resistant to expected and difficult operation conditions and assures that the whole system will work reliably.

This article presents results of the research on developed innovative protective structure for vehicles. The fundamental objective of executed work was to check the correctness of assumed assumptions, shape and geometry of the solution and configuration of components that affect the protective effectiveness during the impact of the explosive. In order to reach that goal, both model tests and experimental tests were carried out. The experimental tests were carried out on the real object. Significant information about the level, directions and nature of affecting dynamic loads were obtained as well as information about their impact on particular structure elements. The MES numerical model of the research object has been developed in LS-Dyna system. Special emphasis was placed on the mapping of complex geometry, configuration of components and their interactions. Test calculations were carried out and then the resistance calculations were made. As a load, generating post-explosion impact wave, the load imposed by normative requirements concerning the way of explosive arrangement as well as the shape and weight. The analysis of obtained results of the experimental and numerical tests allows for high evaluation of effectiveness of proposed solution.

The paper describes dynamic load-generating sources and their effects on combat vehicles (CV), placed people and equipment within it. The variety of the operation conditions causes a complex dynamic load, both in terms of level, direction and distribution. The effects of the impacts are shown in photographs. It is important to know the level of loads in terms of the development of resistant and safe high-speed tracked combat vehicles. The selected results of its own researches of high-speed tracked combat vehicles were presented. Research were carried out under conditions similar to those typical for this class of vehicles, both during the rides on the road, the ground and obstacles on the specially constructed for this purpose. The results of research and analysis are compared in the form of graphs and the estimated value. The paper presents angular movement of the hull of the CV as well as displacements of carrying wheels during overcoming a single obstacle, elastic characteristics of hydro-pneumatic suspension components, distribution of pressure acting on a selected area of the bottom of the hull after mine explosion and power spectral density estimator of tank gun vibration as well as being the source longitudinal vibration of the hull tank. The presented scope and methodology allows the multi-variants investigation and estimate the loads of the hall, interior fittings and people in special vehicles and other objects that may be exposed to this type of loads.

The paper presents the main activities of the Institute of Aviation (IoA) in the field of chemical rocket propulsion. The relatively "fresh" research and development team performed many useful works within the last 5 years, starting from the strategy and ideas. Nowadays, the Space Technology Department of IoA acts as a member of international consortia realizing space projects, as well as itself working on its own assignments financed by the European Space Agency (ESA) and IoA funds. The important development aspect of rocket propulsion developed at IoA is the use of "green" propellants. These are chemicals, which are relatively safe for the environment and personnel, being a very promising alternative for storable toxic substances, e.g. hydrazine and derivatives, nitrogen tetroxide. R&D activities of STD are based on the use of Rocket Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (RGHP), also known as High Test Peroxide (HTP). This high-performance mono-propellant and oxidizer is regarded by European entities as one of the most promising candidates to replace hydrazine and its derivatives in the future. Due to numerous advantages, hydrogen peroxide is better suited for systems with human interaction that most of other propellant combinations. The paper contains selected results of research on green rocket propulsion performed at IoA, in which 98% hydrogen peroxide was used as oxidizer and monopropellant. Three types of rocket engines: monopropellant, liquid bipropellant and hybrid have been investigated and are still being developed.

The work presents selected results of experimental research on special purpose vehicles used on military training grounds, and bench tests of their main structural elements. The results are connected mainly with identifying the main vibration parameters of those vehicles (regarding weight, resilience and damping), and with the assessment of the level of dynamic loads. The more output data experimental research provides, the more input data we have for designing models. Determined in laboratory tests, weight parameters (regarding weight and moments of inertia), coefficients of stiffness and damping, as well as selected resilience and damping characteristics, are applied in the process of creating the numerical models of assemblies, systems, and complete vehicles. The numerical models created are subject to full verification in order to minimize the differences between the real objects and their representations. The models are applied in multivariate simulation tests of the existing design solutions, upgrading them, or creating new designs. Due to a certain sensitivity of the range of special purpose vehicles, the results of experimental tests and simulation analyses presented in the work are mainly qualitative rather than quantitative.

The results of the experimental research on the influence of the special vehicle movement conditions on the body shell and the vehicle crew dynamic load will be presented in the paper. ROSOMAK Wheeled Armoured Personnel Carrier (Wheeled APC), the basic version, was the subject of the research. The research work was aimed at analysis of the dynamic loads resulting from the deterministic inputs and driving on the selected types of surfaces generating random kinematic inputs. The personnel carrier service conditions, measuring apparatus, and testing methods will be described. The vertical accelerations of the selected points of the vehicle, and deflection of the prime and second suspension of the vehicle left side were measured. The time and the acceleration RMS value spectrum charts for the selected implementations will be presented. The cumulative statistics will be shown in the form of a table. The conclusions regarding the influence of the road surface on the personnel carrier driver's working comfort will be formulated. The assessment of the suspension quality will be included in the conclusions. Driving on the smooth surface is comfortable. However, the road surface worsening causes decreased proficiency sense until the exposure limit boundary is reached when the vehicle drives on a poor quality cobble road with 50 km/h speed. The vehicle basic version is not fitted with the seats for assault troops, therefore the influence of the road irregularities on the centre of mass of the body shell, and the driver's and commander's seats were determined. It is recommended to make further tests on the personnel carrier combat and special versions.

The European Union directive obliges to the usage of 6% bio-fuels approx in the year of 2010. Diesel fuel can be superseded by rapeseed oil esters with the properties similar to mineral fuel. However, the production of aliphatic oils esters is expensive and requires large expenditure of capital. Considering the costs of the rapeseed oil esters production, the tests were undertaken in many countries for the application as fuel to the non-stressed diesel engines, a raw rapeseed oil with the omission of esterification process. The application of the rapeseed oil as fuel has also this advantage, that it can be produced on the own needs in property farms and processing plants. Moreover remainder on the expression of oil in the shape of oilcakes, can be utilized as the animal feed or as energy source. The tests of the rapeseed oil application to the tractors engines of the agricultural and structural machines, were already performed in the 30's in Germany, Italy and Belgium. Also in United States, research was performed for utilization of palm oil and fish fat to fuel application. The rapeseed oil properties differ from the diesel fuel. The possibility exists of certain improvement of vegetable fuel attributes through the oil additives. The one of the possibilities for the improvement of the rapeseed oil properties as fuel are the gasoline admixtures. Such additions influence on the fuel - air mixture creation process course and combustion. The vaporize temperature of the rapeseed fuels is much higher then the diesel fuel vaporize temperature, that has essential influence on the creation of fuel-air mixture process and combustion. For the purpose of lowering of these temperatures to the rapeseed oil the U95 gasoline was added. The research of the combustion process for the mixtures of rapeseed oil with gasoline and rate of heat release during the combustion analysis was performed.
Dyrektywa Unii Europejskiej zobowiązuje do stosowania w roku 2010 ok. 6% biopaliw. Olej napędowy może być zastąpiony estrami oleju rzepakowego o zbliżonych właściwościach do paliwa mineralnego. Produkcja estrów olejów tłuszczowych jest jednak kosztowna i wymaga dużych nakładów inwestycyjnych. Ze względu na koszty produkcji estrów oleju rzepakowego, w wielu krajach podjęto próby stosowania jako paliwa do niewysilonych silników Diesla, surowego oleju rzepakowego z pominięciem estryfikacji. Zastosowanie oleju rzepakowego jako paliwa ma również tę zaletę, że może być produkowane na potrzeby własne w gospodarstwach rolnych i zakładach przetwórczych. Ponadto pozostałości po tłoczeniu oleju w postaci makuchów, mogą być wykorzystywane do celów hodowlanych bądź energetycznych. Próby stosowania oleju rzepakowego do silników ciągników maszyn rolniczych i budowlanych, prowadzono już w latach trzydziestych w Niemczech, Włoszech i Belgii. Również w Stanach Zjednoczonych, prowadzono badania wykorzystania do celów paliwowych oleju palmowego i tłuszczów rybnych. Olej rzepakowy różni się swoimi właściwościami od oleju napędowego. Istnieją możliwości poprawy pewnych cech paliwa roślinnego przez dodatki. Jedną z możliwości poprawy właściwości oleju rzepakowego jako paliwa są domieszki benzyny. Dodatki takie wpływają na przebieg procesu tworzenia mieszaniny paliwowo-powietrznej oraz spalanie. Temperatura odparowania paliw rzepakowych jest znacznie wyższa od temperatur oleju napędowego, co ma istotny wpływ na proces tworzenia mieszaniny paliwowo-powietrznej i spalanie. W celu obniżenia tych temperatur do oleju rzepakowego dodano benzyny U95. Przeprowadzono badania procesu spalania mieszanin oleju rzepakowego z benzyną i dokonano analizy wywiązywania ciepła w czasie spalania.

In this paper, elastomers with different hardness factors were examined to evaluate the influence of the hardness on their mechanical properties. The following hardness numbers, measured in Shore A hardness scale, were investigated: 40; 60; 70 and 90°. Basic mechanical tests i.e. axial tension and axial compression have been performed in order to calculate elastic properties and stress values corresponding to the fixed strains: epsilon = 0.2; 0.3 and 0.5. The sigma (epsilon) dependences from the tension and compression tests are nonlinear and have different shapes. The tension plot can be described by a convex parabola, while the compression curve can be approximated by a concave one. dynamic load tests with loading freąuencies 0.01; 0.1; 1.0 and 3,OHz were performed in order to determine the hysteresis loop and to obtain force and displacement dependences in time. From those results the following factors were calculated: relative damping coefficient and mechanical loss angle, as well as their dependence on load frequencies. The influence of hardness on both in-phase and out-of-phase components of normal modulus were investigated. The sensitivity of the examined elastomers to the loading rate was also investigated.
