A control system with a proportional directional throttling control valve or a directional control servo valve, controlling a cylinder (linear hydraulic motor) is used in the ship steering gear drive, in the controllable pitch propeller control, in the variable capacity pump control system for hydraulic deck equipment motors or fixed pitch propellers in small ships (for example ferries). The hydraulic system is designed first of all taking into consideration the nominal parameters of the cylinder load and speed. For such parameters, the energy efficiency of the elements and complete system is described. Meanwhile the exploitation conditions can vary in full range changes of the cylinder load and speed coefficients. The article presents a comparison of the energy behaviour of two widespread structures of hydrostatic systems: a standard individual systems with a throttling steering fed by a constant capacity pump. Both hydraulic solutions are described and equations of the total efficiency η of the system are presented. Diagrams of energy efficiency of two hydraulic systems working at the same parameters of a speed and a load of hydraulic linear motor, which were different due to structure are presented and compared, as well ability of energy saving. This publication also presents analyses and compares the areas of the power fields of energy losses occurring in the elements of two hydraulic systems with different structures of the hydraulic linear motor speed control.

The article presents the laboratory verification of the mathematical description of losses and energy efficiency of the hydraulic transmission with proportionally controlled cylinder supplied by the constant capacity pump in the system of constant pressure is presented. The axial piston pump with pivoting rotor supplied to the system consisted of proportional directional control valve and linear motor – hydraulic cylinder at constant pressure, cooperating with an overflow valve. The choice of the analysed system is not accidental. There is always a view in literature about the very limited energy capabilities of a proportional control system. For this purpose, measurement methods were developed and a test stand was adapted. It consists of two systems: tested and loading. Measurements during the tests were recorded up to date on the computer hard disk. In order to allow for comparison of the total efficiency of the system with the efficiency derived from the simulation, the ki coefficients determining the energy losses of the individual components were calculated. Investigations have shown a high convergence mathematical description of energy losses in the elements of the system efficiency and reality. This allows accurate simulation determining the energy efficiency of the field at every point in its operation, i.e. at any speed and any load-controlled hydraulic cylinder. The speed and load range of the hydraulic cylinder can also be accurately simulated.

The paper presents mathematical models of the losses occurring in the pump with a theoretical capacity per revolution of the shaft and geometric (variable) performance on the rotation of the shaft. These models were used to laboratory testing and simulation energy losses in the pump to judge the energy efficiency of the pump and the efficiency of the hydrostatic drive. The results of research and analyses should be able to create and exploit the possibilities simulation programs support the process of designing hydraulic systems. Pursuing such programs will allow fast determination of the efficiency of the hydrostatic transmission with a positive displacement pump, composed of any item at any point of the fieldwork. These programs enable the selection of optimal in terms of energy, the operating parameters of the system. In an era of increasingly expensive energy, even a small reduction of losses can bring tangible economic benefits during machine operation. It is important to know the energy efficiency of the transmission, under not only nominal conditions, but also changes in the whole range of working conditions: the speed and load of the hydraulic motor, the viscosity of hydraulic oil particularly in the parameters or the longest occurring during operation. It is necessary, therefore, to design stage gear on a detailed analysis of energy enabling optimal selection of components and operating parameters of the system.

The paper presents a process of designing, modelling and manufacturing of a demonstrative prototype of a dual-power path gear unit to be applied in aeronautical systems of drive transmission. The process of making a demonstrator of a dual-power path gear unit by means of 3D-CAD modelling and Rapid Prototyping has been described here. Designing gears is based on Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems including also Rapid Prototyping (RP). The first stage of the designing process of a gear unit is always defining basic parameters of gear work (among others; power, rotational speed, transmission ratio) depending on the unit's predestination. On the basis of the above, the calculation of main constructional parameters is carried out. Subsequently, it is possible to make 3D-CAD models of toothed wheels and the remaining parts of the gear unit. In case of designing demonstrative prototypes, it is important to take into consideration the assumptions of modelling similarity to a real gear unit. 3D-CAD systems are often equipped with modules for analysing geometrical parameters and cooperation of individual parts of the unit for example the area of contact. A detailed analysis of cooperation of gear parts of the unit allows for detecting models' faults early and for deleting them. After making 3D-CAD models one can approach to creating a prototype by means of Rapid Prototyping methods. It is necessary to prepare the numerical data essential as a subsequent stage of the process of making the demonstrator. On that basis the individual parts of the gear unit are made in an incremental process. The accuracy of creating a physical prototype depends mainly on the accuracy of a 3D-CAD/3D-RP model prepared in a process of processing numerical data. A demonstrator described in the paper has been made by means of FDM method. The prototype allowed for analysing constructional solutions of gear units on a physical model and for preparing assumptions for introductory stand tests.

The article attempts to determine the influence of selected types of the heat treatment on the strength properties of the AW-7020 alloy used in the shipbuilding industry. The text presents information on the applied types of heat treatment. There are presented the results of the static tensile test of the material after its earlier hyperquenching and aging (natural and artificial) as well as comparison to the test results of the alloy without heat treatment. To illustrate the nature of the supersaturation and aging process, a test was carried out for a series of samples in a transitional state. During the tests for all the samples were determined: elongation at rupture and reduction of area at fracture, strength limit Rm and proof stress Re0.2. The results of the tests showed that the choice of the type of aging after saturation has significant importance for the strength properties of the AW-7020 alloy. It has been shown that it is possible to significantly accelerate the achievement of higher strength properties of the tested alloy, replacing the natural aging of the material with artificial aging.

The paper presents result of theoretical analysis of the spatial dynamic performances for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This drone is designed and produced by consortium consisted of The Air Force Institute of Technology, The Military University of Technology, The Warsaw University of Technology and The MSP enterprise. A plane JET-2 is the jet-powered airplane dedicated for Polish Military Forces. It will be used in the training process of anti-aircraft crews. Because of high level of requirements (maximum speed, stall speed, climb rate, range and endurance), it has been designed as the jet-powered aircraft. This plane will perform autonomous flights and therefore it should be stable in all phases of flight – static and dynamic stability is desirable. Therefore, the theoretical analysis focused on the stability performances have been performed, parallel to laboratory tests. They were done using nonlinear mathematical model of the JET-2. This model will be described in the paper as well as selected results of numerical simulations. The UAV JET-1 parameters and main parts of the system with the performances as the take-off mass 80 kg, the maximum speed 150 m/s, the endurance 60 min, the altitude 5000 m are presented in the paper.

The publication presents a UAV pneumatic launcher designed and built in ITWL. The basic element of the pneumatic launcher is the launch mechanism. The starting mechanism determines the energy parameters that will be reached on the launch pad. The work of the launch engines used in propulsion systems has been reviewed and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed when used in pneumatic launchers. A detailed description of the author’s solution of the pneumatic launching mechanism from the launcher is presented. In order to determine guidelines for the design of pneumatic starter systems, a description of the cycle of operation of the complex pneumatic system was analysed. The description of the pneumatic system’s work cycle was based on the parameters of the flow of the compressed air C and b (C – the sound conductivity of the pneumatic element, b – the critical pressure of the pneumatic element). A set of equations describing the pressure change in the filled and emptied valve compartment and the equation of motion are presented. The equations of a mathematical model describing the pneumatic component and the replacement value of flow parameters for the pneumatic system of series pneumatic components are presented. For the mathematical model, a calculation algorithm is presented which takes into account the initial conditions and the boundary conditions of the various periods of the pneumatic system cycle. Examples of calculation results for a specific pneumatic trigger mechanism are shown. The results obtained were compared with the results of the pneumatic starter station tests and the mathematical model of the pneumatic starter was evaluated.

In the context of growing ergonomic concerns and pressing competition on the market, designing machines and vehicles offering a better operator comfort has become a major trend in development of heavy-duty machines and vehicles. During the ride over the rough terrain, the cab is subjected to excitations in the form of low frequency and high-amplitude vibration. This study investigates the vibration reduction strategy whereby the machine structure should incorporate an active suspension of the cab. An actuating mechanism is incorporated, connected to the machine frame and the cab, and placed in between. The main system component is a mobile platform to which the cab is attached. Respective drives set in motion the passive links in the actuating mechanism. The drives are equipped with cylinders capturing the instantaneous velocities derived in the control sub-system. The machine frame, subjected to kinematic excitations, performs a movement in space, which has to be measured with a set of sensors to support the control process. Basing on the measured movements of the machine frame, the control sub-system calculates the realtime values of the anticipated load and the required drive velocities. This study focuses on the development of a mechanical model of the actuating mechanism operating in several degree of freedom options. Solving the direct and inverse problems involving the position and velocity of the mechanism allows the Jacobean matrix to be applied in Newton-Euler’s equations. The purpose of the active suspension system is to stabilise the cab in the vertical position and to reduce its lateral vibrations and seat vibrations in the vertical. This study summarises the results of simulations performed to evaluate the system's performance and its power demand.

The paper presents implementation problems of Co-opeartive Intelligent Transport System (ITS) in Member States of European Union. ITS means systems in which information and communication technologies are applied in the field of road transport, including infrastructure, vehicles and users, and in traffic management and mobility management, as well as for interfaces with other modes of transport. Interoperability of ITS is the capacity of systems and the underlying business processes to exchange data and to share information and knowledge. ITS application means an operational instrument for the application of ITS. ITS service is the provision of an ITS application through a well-defined organisational and operational framework with the aim of contributing to the user safety, efficiency, comfort and/or to facilitate or support transport and travel operations. According to the European Commission the autonomous intelligent transport systems implemented in Member States of European Union are not interoperable due to some reasons, for instance discrepancies in the interpretation of laws, technology standards (specifications), especially lack of cooperation capability. European Commission has taken steps in mentioned issue (directive 2010/40/EU, mandate M/453, decision 2011/453/EU). The author has presented synthetically problems in mentioned area and determined resolutions of them on level of European Union and Poland. Furthermore the main results of research projects: The National Automatic Toll Collection System (NATCS) and Methodic of eCall automatically informing system of traffic accidents developed by Motor Transport Institute.

Motor Transport Institute has developed functional structure of the National Automatic Toll Collection System (NATCS). It consists of the following elements: two intelligent on-board units (OBUs), two control gates and laboratory model of National Automatic Toll Collection Centre (NATCC). OBU automatically calculates the amount of charge due, taking into account the vehicle category (admissible weight, number of axles), the emissions class and road distance. OBU is equipped with GPS, GSM and DSRC module, so it is interoperable with other electronic toll systems in the EU member states and meets requirements of directive 2004/52/EC and EC decision of 6 October 2009. The NATCS has recognized not only OBU Tripon - EU but also OBU from Toll Collect (Germany) and Passango from France which proved interoperability with another different types of systems in the EU. The efficacy of automatic detection of number plates was 98%, after process analysis it increases to 99.9%. For the purposes of NATCS it was assumed that value of Position Dilution of Precision.(PDOP) should be 90 percent and the value between 0.1 and 3. The tested OBU with the number of measurements were respectively 90%, of perfect values (0.1-1), and 8% excellent values. For the purposes of NATCS it was assumed that GPS receiver in OBU should track at least 5 satellites, for more accurate calculations and in the event of the loss of signal from one of them. The test results showed that the number of satellites used for the purpose of location was 99% of measurements from 5 to 11 satellites.

Possibilities of producing cast models of turbocompressor impellers in silicon matrices by vacuum casting process are presented. Vacuum casting process enables producing cast models of impellers for precision casting. A standard model for silicon matrix making is a prototype produced with stereo lithography technique. The advantage of stereo lithographic model is its easy machinability that enables higher quality of impeller model surface. Silicon matrices enable casting of prototype models from foundry plastics, such as: casting wax, polyurethanes, polyester and epoxy resins. Properties of the plastic material used determine the shape of die parting. Because of its low strength, casting wax enforces die parting into a larger number of elements, thus enabling to pull it out without damage. The prototypes made from casting resins require considerably fewer parting surfaces. Silicon matrices enable to manufacture from several to several dozen cast patterns of prototype turbocharger impellers. The basic advantage of vacuum casting process is the shortening of prototype making time and cost, compared to traditional methods. The silicon matrixes permit casting and low-pressure injections of plastics. Some plastics may be used for producing foundry patterns for various metal alloy casting processes.

This publication presents UAV rope and pneumatic launchers constructed and operated in the Air Force Institute of Technology. The construction and operating principle were presented, and functional properties of the UAV take-off pneumatic launcher were characterised. Furthermore, a detailed diagram of the take-off pneumatic launcher was shown, and an operating principle of the launcher take-off system and pneumatic control of the take-off procedure were discussed. The operation parameters of the most important operational elements (main ball valve, semi-rotary actuator, pneumatic valves controlling the flow) from the launcher pneumatic system were specified. On the basis of data sheets of pneumatic elements, a calculation model of the mass flow (volumetric flow rate) of compressed air flowing through the main valve (ball valve in the take-off cylinder supply line) of the take-off pneumatic launcher was designed. The possible cracks, through which compressed air leaks and the take-off cylinder dead sections during the main valve opening and shot, were characterised and discussed. The calculation model designed for individual leaks and total compressed air leaks in the take-off line of the pneumatic launcher was presented. Based on the mass flow model (volumetric flow rate) of compressed air flowing through the main valve, and total compressed air leaks, the relationship of compressed air energy losses depending on opening time of the main valve of the take-off pneumatic launcher was determined. In the paper, the results of simulation studies for the times shorter than data sheets of the main valve opening were presented. In addition, the change of the compressed air disposable energy losses was defined. Based on the results of simulation studies, the opening time of the take-off launcher main valve for the acceptable disposable energy loss level of the take-off pneumatic launcher was specified.

The paper refers to telematics theoretical basis, especially transport telematics. European and international institutions responsible for standardization in the aforementioned areas have been characterized. Furthermore, author has presented standardization publications on telematics and transport telematics. The European Commission and many state administrations in the world attach a great importance to the use of telematics systems in transport. This requires designing and manufacturing devices using the advanced telecommunication and IT technologies. Some states have already implemented the telematics systems in transport, which control now such functions as: vehicles fleet management, urban traffic management and road toll collection. Implementation of the autonomic systems in the European states and lack of possibilities to cooperate with other systems caused the European Commission to conduct, since 2000, a wide spread activities on interoperability of the telematics systems and introduction of legal regulations (decrees, directives). Interoperability and building telematics systems architecture brings about the necessity to develop standards concerning, among the others, technical, safety solutions as well as data transmission protocols between the system elements and it environment solutions. At present in Poland, telematics applications are not used to a sufficient degree, to effectively manage the vehicles' fleet, or at least for urban traffic management, and when they are used, and then they are developed without taking into consideration appropriate interoperability. These applications in the future may provide quick and precise information and allow to safely managing the urban traffic. In the forthcoming years, they will be further improved by using Galileo system, whose localizing precision will be better than that of GPS. To meet these challenges, the international and European institutions have been characterized in this paper, which conduct standardizing activities in telematics and transport telematics. In addition, the fundamental, already developed standards for the aforementioned areas have been presented.

Opis:
Bi-fuel supply of CI engine could become in a short time the one of ways to the replacement of the considerable share of diesel fuel by alternative fuels with the low cetane number to which, among others, the ethyl alcohol belongs. Ethanol has been already applied as a fuel for CI engine. Scania 9 litters engine with risen compression ratio are fuelled with ethanol with some addictives, which enable its self-ignition. Dual fuelling of CI engine could be applied for older and contemporary construction of CI engine as a way to make them more flexible as far as alternative fuels application is concerned. Two ways of fuelling of CI engine with ethanol and diesel oil are proposed. Both of them allow for conventional fuelling adapted turbocharged CI engine with diesel oil or dual fuelling with ethanol and diesel oil. First: the ethanol injection to the engine induction channel during the opening of inlet valve and after the exhaust valve closing (in order to make impossible to escape of a fresh charge during valve overlap). Second: mixing of ethanol with diesel fuel in the „common rail" fuel system and the injection of both fuels through the engine factory fuel system. Diesel fuel and ethyl alcohol are not mixing in itself, but their mutual mixing will be possible in the fuel pump of the „common rail" engine fuel system.
Dwupaliwowe zasilanie silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym mogłoby w niedługim czasie stać się jednym ze sposobów na zastąpienie znacznej części oleju napędowego paliwami alternatywnymi o niskiej liczbie cetanowej do których między innymi należy alkohol etylowy. Etanol już znalazł zastosowanie jako paliwo do silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym. Dziewięciolitrowy silnik Scania ze zwiększonym stopniem sprężania jest zasilany etanolem z dodatkami umożliwiającymi jego samozapłon. Dwupaliwowe zasilanie silnika wysokoprężnego może by sposobem na zróżnicowanie paliw jakimi można będzie zasilać starsze i obecnie produkowane silniki wysokoprężne. Zaproponowane zostały dwa sposoby zasilania silnika dwupaliwowo etanolem i olejem napędowym. Obydwa z nich pozwalają, w zależności od potrzeb, na zasilanie silnika dwupaliwowo lub w sposób konwencjonalny tylko olejem napędowym. Pierwszy: wtrysk etanolu do kanału dolotowego silnika w czasie otwarcia zaworu dolotowego i po zamknięciu zaworu wylotowego (aby uniemożliwić ucieczkę świeżego ładunku w czasie przekrycia zaworów). Drugi: zmieszanie etanolu z olejem napędowym w układzie zasilania „common rail" i wtrysk obu paliw z wykorzystaniem fabrycznego układu zasilania silnika. Olej napędowy i alkohol etylowy nie rozpuszczają się w sobie, a wzajemne ich mieszanie będzie możliwe dzięki działaniu pompy paliwa w układzie „common rail".

Opis:
Torsional vibrations occur during drive systems operation. They may be especially hazardous if the freQuency of input functions is close to resonance frequency or if system resonance frequency is equal to subharmonic of input function frequency. What 's more, there is always a possibility of more than one resonance zone since the system is usually non-linear and multi-body. In design process of power transmission systems very important is correctly selection of the couplings parameters (especially flexibility). Couplings stiffness and damping have principle influence on shaft torsional vibrations. In case of power transmission with tooth gear the vibrations which are connected with dynamic forces in meshing. The paper presents influence of flexible couplings stiffness characteristics on dynamic forces in meshing. The investigations based on the measured couplings stiffness as well as damping and computer simulation ofpower transmission system with tooth gear operates at varying load. On the basis of conducted tests and analysis it may be stated that toothed wheels rotational speed increase does not always result in meshing dynamic forces increase. dynamic model ofdrive system with toothed gear is therefore a useful toolfor analysing couplings impact on meshing dynamic forces. This is illustrated by examples presented in current paper.
