Opis:
Paper describes possibilities to use advanced vehicles simulator combined with additional supporting research devices for measuring drivers' behaviour. Analyzing drivers' behaviour with driving simulators is a rapidly growing field of research, which also demands the interdisciplinary approach from different science disciplines like psychology and simulation engineering. Paper presents modern research methods in transport safety researches and devices that are used to understand better driver's behaviour inside the driving simulator, e.g. Vienna Test System and mobile eye-tracker. Paper also explains a problem of simulator sickness that frequently occurs during the studies inside the driving simulators. Main advantage of using simulators is possibility to achieve full standardization of research conditions. Visualization system based on set of four projectors and cylindrical screen with 200 degrees of vision range, which allows to completely cover the range of sight of the driver to enhance driving reality. The view in the car mirrors is presented on three LCD screens which sizes are very close to the mirrors used in real car mirrors. The scenery generated by computer simulation is moving according to the car speed in the simulation. Similarly to the passenger car simulator, simulator of truck and bus is build based on visualization system which is composed of cylindrical screen, with two hundred degrees of horizontal range of view. Simulator gives the ability to trace functioning of few different types of vehicles.

In this paper there has been developed a method for the transport system operation quality assessment. The concept of the transport system quality has been defined. There has also been described the proposed evaluation method and the process of an assessment model construction. Basic features of the metrical space have been characterized and a proposition o f a system operation quality evaluation metrics has been presented. Also, studies concerning the choice of assessment criteria and distinction of the most signiflcant set of features accepted for the resultant model of the examined transport system operation quality, have been presented. It should be emphasized that using the presented method it is possible to make an assessment of the same system, in different times, with the assumption that the rating is performed on the basis of homogenous criteria, and with the use of a set of the same features, distinguished for the deser iption of the research object.

Opis:
Systems of transport means operational use are such systems whose main goal is to carry out transport tasks on an assigned territory. In each transport system assurance of the used transport means availability, viewed as the object capability to accomplish the transport task, is of great importance. A certain number of damages results from natural wear of transport means elements which is a natural phenomenon, whereas other damages can be caused by in effective repair of the previous damage. In this way, within a short time, there occur the so called repetitive damages to the repaired element. This reflects improper organization of repairs, poor skills of the maintenance workers, limitations connected with wrong diagnosing before and after the repair. Damages occurring during means of transport operation involve bearing considerable costs while assuring the transport means operational reliability, as well as covering the losses connected with impossibility to accomplish the transport task. Finding out the causes of in effective repairs would reduce the costs that a transport company has to bear to provide efficient operation of means of transport. Times of resultant repairs and being unftt for use have been analyzed, as well as costs of repairs, spare parts, maintenance and operation.

Opis:
Improving knowledge on an external enterprise needs and scope of service provided are the most important assets of services provision in outsourcing. Other benefits involve constant level of income and improvement of the provided services quality resulting from experience gained and then customer loyalty, becoming familiar with the structure and technologies applied in an external enterprise and access to confidential information. Diagnosis and assessment of the partnership cooperation provides an opportunity to determine the most effective forms and methods of communication between partners and to obtain information on communication disorders and problems in the course of collaboration. Description of tasks concerning transport orders and information distribution affects the relationship between the outsourcing partners and effectiveness of the cooperation. Recognition of positive and negative aspects of cooperation will enable to eliminate in the future any errors and omissions that influence effectiveness of the partnership cooperation. The positive assessment of cooperation resulting from the provided service quality and implementation of the defined objectives presents the ability to continue the cooperation between the current partners.

This paper describes the possibility of controlling injection and ignition parameters of a spark-ignition engine performed with the author's controller. The modification of output signals according to given parameters of the interface is shown in this article. Simulations, supported by oscilloscope graphs, were performed using the controller designed to work with four-cylinder spark-ignition engine. This device allows modifying the ignition and injection parameters depending on the values entered in the author's interface on the PC. This interface enables a serial transmission through a RS 232 serial port and sending data to the microcontroller. The controller allows for a measurement of the values of the sensors and a generation of output signals for the actuators. The simulation done in this work involves the modification of injection and ignition angle parameters: ignition angle of advance (KWZ), injection angle of advance (KWW) and time parameters: time of injection (KW), time of ignition (KZ). Also shown in this article are possibilities of adapting the controller of the spark-ignition engine to a simultaneous, batched and sequential injection mode.

Experimental research of the dynamic properties of structures is performed during of prototype perfectioning, current exploitation and even after the withdrawal from the exploitation for the estimation of the residual durabilities. The aim for research of the dynamic properties of structures is the assurance of its safety, reliability, economic management and comfort. Researcher records the amplitudes of vibrations in the function of the actuation frequencies. Local raise of the amplitude is qualified as resonance. From the researcher point of view, the shape of resonance curves justifies the discrimination of two types of phenomena's: „single resonance" and „close frequencies resonance". For better understanding of these occurrences „the models of interpretation" were proposed. Up to three models of interpretation were assigned to the single resonance: one-degree-of-freedom system, one-degree-of-freedom system with share of the backlashes, two one-degree-of-freedom systems with the same frequencies. From above reasoning, the conclusion results that researcher can expect that the preliminary isolated single resonance belongs to one from the three, mentioned above cases. The judgment of these occurrences, just as the disentanglement of relations in the resonance pair with close frequencies, determines next challenge for the researcher.

Recent progress within the area of front lighting of motor vehicles makes it possible to implement some technical solutions in other types of vehicles. High quality of front lighting is a factor required not only in motor vehicles. The article shall present the current state of front lighting of trams and qualitative analysis shall be presented of currently used light beams. The emphasis put on the quality of motor vehicle projectors, their constant development and application ofnew kinds of light sources, as well as application ofadvanced systems ofautomatic light beam direction does not translate into application ofthese solutions in tram vehicles. Safe movement of a trach vehicle is conditioned by the quality and state of its main lighting. Appropriate distribution of a light beam plays a significant role in the perception of luminous sensations from a vehicle's foreground. It ensures a proper assessment of behaviour of other road traffic participants and conditions proper visibility from a tram driver's seat. The analysis of tram line lighting shall be conducted on the basis of real photometric measurement data with the use of calculation programme having an advanced model of foreground lighting of the vehicle at its disposal. Lighting recommendations shall be presented taking into account the characteristics of light beams used in trams

Numerous cases of self-activation of the SSP-FK aircraft fire suppression system (including commissioning of valves and extinguishing tanks) testify about the fact that it is not yet fully understood in the technical aspect, and because of the performed role on the aircraft is the basic element to ensure flight safety. Solving problems with false fire signalling of the SSP-FK system is an important issue for the safe operation of aircraft and military helicopters, because it is preventive (to warn the crew of the possibility of fire) and rescue system (aiming at extinguish the fire) in each phase of a flight. In addition, the SSP-FK system is used on many types of military aircraft (including helicopters from W-3/3W/3WA/3PL and Mi/8/14/17/24 family as well as An-28 and Tu-154M aircraft. The paper presents selected results of work in the Air Force Institute of Technology in the study of SSP-FK fire suppression system (as one of the main protection systems on-board) used on many types of military aircraft operated in the Polish Armed Forces. In determining the conditions of the false signalling of fire, simulation models of action blocks implementing of the SSP-FK fire suppression system were developed. The research on simulation models was performed in Matlab-Simulink and Circuit-Maker computing packages. The results of these works were used to diagnose selected modules and blocks of the SSP-FK system during the study of actual cases of their false activation.

Subject matter ofthe paper is test results on the chassis dynamometer and road test results in reference to the on-board (OBD) system diagnostics of car vehicles. Test results of vehicles on the chassis dynamometer in temperatures of +22°C and two sub-zero -7°C and -12°C, and also test results of road in reference to chosen car vehicles are presented in the paper. The in effective work ofthe system in temperatures below -7°C was observed. Test results on the chassis dynamometer with test results of road ones are compared. The time 10.9 as the measure of the efficiency of the work of the OBD system is proposed. One gave the proposal of certification of approval research in reference to OBD systems. The paper presents in particular: road emissions of a car during the NEDC (UDC + EUDC) European drive cycle, road emissions of a car during the NEDC (UDC + EUDC) European drive cycle in low temperature chamber (-7°C) in comparison to emissions in temperature -12°C, road emissions ofa car during the European drive cycle in comparison to emissions at oxygen sensor disconnected before catalytic reactor, vehicle speed recorded in road traffic, comparison idea of road cycle piece with pattern cycle similar from point of view speed course, covering coefficients of recorded time for drive cycles, relations between parameters influencing on OBD system reaction time for defect appearing.

At this paper there are presented methodology and selected information's about researches of OBU On Board Unii according to COOPERS project. There are information 's about COOPERS and GALILEO projects integration. Presented research results documents write measurement equipment verification. At this paper there was included description of Robust Positioning Unit, their communication with rest of ITS system, definition of COOPERS project services. There was described measurement vehicle and their basic elements with short work instruction. According to Galileo description, there were presented GSSF (Galileo System Simulation Facility) program designed for simulation of their work. Secondly there was included methodology of systems Galileo and COOPERS integration. Thanks to that, TU of Lodz learned, how to cooperate with multi partners team, how to exist at European project. Experience acquired at this project shows, that ITS and their research have a big potential, needs a very precise procedures and equipment, there is possible to work at large teams with synergy of individual specialist.

Road safety was and still is one of the real hazards for human society all over the world. In order to manage the problem of excessive road death toll at the both sides of Atlantic two independent initiatives were started in 1970 in the USA in the US Department of Transportation. The paper describes the genesis of intergovernmental European initiative named EEVC, its history, participants and scope of former and current scientific research related to improvements in vehicle design safety. The work was started from the careful analysis of accident statistics data including the severity of accident. The important feature of EEVC working groups is participation of car industry researchers enabling wide verification of scientific achievements. For specific items, it is also shown the practical profit based on knowledge coming from EEVC research. Most important items resolved by EEVC were in-depth study of multidirectional impact mechanics, development of anthropometric dummies, pedestrian safety, passive/active safety interaction, rear under run protection etc. The influence of change in vehicle design appears important for all road users the vulnerable persons including. The relation to other similar international initiatives was pointed together with the future direction of activity and relation to National and International (UN ECE and EC) legislative bodies. The Polish input to EEVC research was described since in 2002 Poland started its participation.

The basic aim in controlling the diesel engine is to obtain a maximal effective torque for a given fuel dose with keeping at minimum toxic exhaust compounds. This postulate can be realized by matching the appropriate fuel injection timing. In this paper the research results of the control system are presented, which allow for the constant matching of the injection advance in the CI engine to the varying characteristics of the controlled object, that is the engine. Quality factor of the working process which is defined as an effective engine torque, is estimated on the base of the instantaneous crankshaft torsion measurement. This concept, unlike the currently used systems, suggest the use of efficient torque (Me) measurement to generate control quantities, which control the work process of an engine. Realization of such measurements leads to the treatment of the control system as an extreme control unit (maximizing quantitative parameters) as well as an adaptive control system (possibility of unit's reaction on high changes of the parameters influencing the work process of an engine). Combining the idea of the crankshaft torsion measurement with the idea of extreme control, a system can be designed, which makes use of torsion measurement for the adaptive control of the injection timing. The object of the research was a Diesel engine ISUZU Y17DT with electronically controlled injection pump and engine diagnostic system. Realization of the research aim required design and construction of the measurement system of the crankshaft torsion.

The combustion of fuels is and will be in the nearest future a basic way of acquiring the energy, among others, for transport purposes. Transport causes many threats for natural environment. It produces powders and particulates, together with many gaseous noxious substances and is also the source of noise and vibrations. Sources of propulsion, applied in transport, are almost exclusively piston-combustion engines, among which the dominant role play self-ignition engines. In the light of well-known advantages of these engines, they were accepted as most beneficial sources of car vehicles' propulsion in nearest decades, provided they meet the requirements of the future legal regulations regarding the environmental protection. The emission of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matters (PM) is a problem to be solved in modern engines. This constitutes so called targets conflict, consisting in excluding the alternative of both coefficients’ decrease, in the way of regulation the set of an engine and the limiting emissions, permitted by the EURO regulations. From among many different methods of limiting both the formation and emission of NOx, the method of the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is universally applied. This method requires special installation with the catalyst and the reservoir intended for the "clinically" clean reductive measure. In the aspect of constituting opinions regarding the need of reducing additional installations and media on board the vehicle, it seems that to supply the engine with fuel-water emulsion and especially fuel-water microemulsion becomes an interesting solution.

The paper describes results of research on heavy vehicle tyre with Run Flat VFI insert. The experiment has included the determination of heat generation, rolling resistance, and radial stiffness of two different tyre designs (textile and steel carcass). The results have been used for the purpose of evaluation of tyre operating characteristics. The study included research on non-inflated tyre properties. The purpose of the paper is to determine characteristics of the tyres equipped with inserts, which are essential for driving wheeled APCs. The inserts are composed of polymer rings mounted on the rims inside the tyres. If the inflation pressure of the tyre is very low or if there is no inflation pressure at all, the ring transfers the loads imposed on the tyre to the rim. Usually in such a case, there is a contact of the ring and inner surface of the tyre tread area. Laboratory facility for surveys of heavy vehicles tyres, summary characteristics of radial stiffness and hysteresis of test tyres, temperature distribution on the external surface of the test tyre, comparison of radial characteristics of the tyres tested, example of stiffness characteristics, distribution of temperature on the side of tyre during the road test and carcass damages on the flat tyre are presented in the paper.

This work investigates the lateral stability of articulated wheeled equipment like loaders or handlers. Operating and moving in a rough terrain require a high stability. In case of articulated vehicles this problem is quite complicated, because the lateral stability depends not only on high of centre of gravity and axel base, but on size of loading and vehicle position on the slope as well. However the standard requirements don't put producers under an obligation to specify the minimal lateral stability of the machines they produce and when this minimum occurs. Therefore the primary purpose of our studies with articulated machine demonstrator was to find the worst position for typical construction solutions from the lateral stability point of view. Based on acquired results we worked out our propositions for testing terrain capabilities of articulated tool-carriers and specify the possibilities of increasing the lateral stability without changing the high of centre of gravity. In spite of charging of research results with the relatively high error, they permit on the qualitative estimation of stability jointed machines in alternative configurations. They also permit to state the low transverse stability of loaders of the standard-design and the high sensibility of their design on modifications.
Praca i przemieszczanie się maszyn w terenie wymaga wysokiej stateczności poprzecznej. W przypadku maszyn przegubowych problem ten jest złożony, ponieważ ich stateczność poprzeczna zależy nie tylko od wysokości środka ciężkości oraz rozstawu kół, ale również od wielkości przenoszonego ładunku oraz położenia osi wzdłużnej maszyny w stosunku do pochylenia terenu. Wymagania normatywne nie narzucają jednak producentom konieczności określenia minimalnej stateczności maszyny oraz położenia, przy którym ona występuje, co utrudnia określenie przydatności maszyny do prac terenowych. Dlatego celem podjętych badań było poznanie obszarów minimalnej stateczności poprzecznej maszyn przegubowych, warunków jej występowania dla reprezentatywnych maszyn, określenie możliwości jej poprawy oraz wskazanie jednoznacznych metod jej testowania. W celu przeprowadzenia badań zbudowano dwa uniwersalne modele-demonstratory maszyny przegubowej z wychylnym tylnym mostem, które umożliwiają odwzorowanie geometrii i rozkładu mas rzeczywistej maszyny. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników opracowano zalecenia do testowania stateczności poprzecznej terenowych maszyn przegubowych oraz określono możliwości zwiększenia ich stateczności przy zachowaniu dotychczasowej wysokości środka ciężkości. Mimo obarczenia rezultatów badań relatywnie wysokim błędem, one pozwalają na jakościową ocenę stateczności maszyn przegubowych w alternatywnych konfiguracjach. One także pozwalają stwierdzić niski poziom stateczności poprzecznej ładowarek o standardowej konstrukcji i wysoką wrażliwość ich konstrukcji na modyfikacje.
