Opis:
Soybean is a photophilic and thermophilic plant with short-day photoperiodism. Therefore, special attention should be paid to proper seed sowing in soybean agriculture practice. The aim of the experiment was to evaluate soybean response to different seed sowing time points. The main plots were three sowing dates scheduled each year at about 10-day intervals (19/04/2016, 29/04/2016, 9/05/2016, 13/04/2017, 24/04/2017, 2/05/2017, 16/04/2018, 27/04/2018, 7/05/2018). Subplots were three soybean varieties: Aldana, Merlin and Lissabon. Weather conditions varied in years and had an effect on the study results obtained. The early date of sowing reduced plant density before harvest in comparison with later sowings. The growing season of plants shortened as the sowing date was delayed. The early sowing date increased the number of pods per plant and thousand seeds weight (TSW) in relation to the optimal time point. Protein content in seeds was significantly higher after sowing the seeds in a delayed period compared to the early date. The early sowing date increased the content of phosphorus and potassium in the seeds. The yield of seeds, protein and fat did not vary depending on the sowing date. However, they varied in the successive years of research. In 2017, plots with a delayed sowing date gave a significantly higher seed yield compared to the early date. The early variety Aldana yielded significantly lower than the mid-early varieties Merlin and Lissabon. The low SPAD index (soil plant analysis development) and high LAI index (leaf area index) were determined in the variety Lissabon.

The issue of optimizing plant fertilization is important in quality systems, such as Integrated Plant Production, GLOBAL G.A.P., or SAI. Effective implementation of these systems depends on the use of a plant nutrition technology based on plants’ nutrient demand. In developing countries, low efficiency production technologies are used very frequently, and a significant level of anthropogenic pressure is therefore observable. The objective of this research was to assess grapevine fertilization efficiency according to particular nitrogen fertilization strategies. Within the scope of the research, a two-factor field experiment was conducted in a commercial vineyard located in Gissar Valley, the Republic of Tajikistan, in 2018. The experiment was established on sandy soils and involved the following factors: the overall quantity of mineral nitrogen used, and the number of fertilizer application cycles (one or three). The designed systems were assessed on the basis of commercial yield, productivity ratio, agronomic efficiency ratio, removal efficiency ratio, and physiological efficiency ratio. The findings obtained from the field experiment indicate that the plant yield was the highest, at 24.85 Mg ha-1, in the conventionally fertilized object, with the nitrogen dosage of 250 kg N ha-1. Similar yield was obtained when the amount of nitrogen was divided into 3 doses. In this variant, the values of ratios representing fertilization efficiency, such as the agronomic efficiency ratio, removal ratio and productivity ratio, were the most beneficial as well. No significant variations were determined in respect of the physiological efficiency ratio value, which may be an indication that no factors occurred in any of the variants which would distort the plants’ growth and development. Optimizing fertilization is an important aspect that defines the quality and safety of products of agricultural origin, especially in developing countries.

In Poland nearly 40% of land under agricultural use is characterised by a progressing deficit of copper available to plants. Inventory studies revealed that 25% of rapeseed plantations are undernourished with this component. The objective of the study was to estimate the yield-forming effects of foliar and soil fertilisation of rapeseed with copper, to identify the optimum dose of Cu for the crop species, and to compare the effects of the two methods of application on the quality of the seeds. The study comprised two three-year strict field experiments, in which pre-sowing fertilisation of rapeseed with copper was applied at rates of 4, 8 and 12 kg Cu⋅ha-1, as well as foliar spraying at the optimum dose of 250 Cu g⋅ha-1 in the phase of closed bud. The experiments were set up on light soils of acid and light acid reaction and with a low or medium content of available copper. Significant increases in rapeseed yields, compared to the control treatment (without Cu), were obtained in treatments fertilised to the soil with doses of 8 and 12 kg Cu⋅ha-1 and in the treatment with foliar spraying. In plants from treatments without copper fertilisation, insufficient levels of the content of this component were found. Sufficient copper nutrition of plants caused a significant increase in yields of rape seeds. In some of the treatments, there was a tendency for the copper content in seeds to increase favourably, especially in the case of foliar application and of the higher copper doses applied to the soil. Also, some cases of increased oil content in seeds were recorded, even by several percent compared to seeds from treatments without Cu fertilisation. With the existing copper deficit in soils in Poland, fertilisation of rapeseed with this component appears to be crucial.
W kraju blisko 40% użytków rolnych cechuje pogłębiający się niedobór miedzi przyswajalnej dla roślin. Badania inwentaryzacyjne wykazały 25% plantacji rzepaku niedożywionych w ten składnik. Celem badań była ocena efektów plonotwórczych dolistnego i doglebowego nawożenia rzepaku ozimego miedzią, wskazanie optymalnej dawki Cu dla tego gatunku oraz porównanie wpływu obu sposobów aplikacji na cechy jakościowe nasion. Przeprowadzono 2 trzyletnie ścisłe doświadczenia polowe, w których zastosowano przedsiewnie nawożenie rzepaku miedzią dawką 4, 8 i 12 kg Cu·ha-1 oraz oprysk dolistny o optymalnej dawce 250 Cu g·ha-1 w fazie zwartego pąka. Doświadczenia prowadzono na glebach lekkich o odczynie kwaśnym i lekko kwaśnym oraz niskiej bądź średniej zawartości przyswajalnej miedzi. Istotne zwyżki plonów nasion rzepaku w stosunku do obiektu kontrolnego (bez Cu) uzyskano na obiektach nawożonych doglebowo dawką 8 i 12 kg Cu·ha-1 oraz pod wpływem dolistnej aplikacji. W roślinach z obiektów nie nawożonych miedzią stwierdzono niedostateczne dla rzepaku zawartości tego składnika. Optymalne odżywienie roślin miedzią spowodowało istotny wzrost plonów nasion rzepaku. W poszczególnych doświadczeniach pojawiła się tendencja do korzystnego zwiększania się zawartości miedzi w nasionach szczególnie po zastosowaniu dolistnego nawożenia oraz wyższych dawek doglebowych. Odnotowano również przypadki zwiększenia zawartości tłuszczu w nasionach nawet o kilka procent w stosunku do obiektów bez nawożenia Cu. Wobec niedoborów miedzi w glebach kraju, nawożenie rzepaku tym składnikiem staje się niezbędne.

The paper discusses fluctuations, including the underlying causes, in the organic carbon, nitrogen and sulphur content of meadow sward from a fertiliser experiment set up on a mountain meadow in 1968. The experiment included 7 fertilising objects with full NPK fertilisation and with control treatment. The area of the experimental plots was 42 m2 (6 m x 7 m). The experimental treatments involved the following fertilisation regimes: nitrogen alone, phosphorus alone, phosphorus and potassium, nitrogen (at two doses of application, and until 2004 in two forms: ammonium nitrate and urea), phosphorus and potassium. Since 1985, the experiment has been conducted in two series: unlimed and limed. Botanical composition and plant yield formed under experimental conditions strongly affected the soil properties. The following were determined in the soil: pH, hydrolytic acidity and total forms of carbon, nitrogen, and sulphur. Soil properties are important for sustainable agriculture and conservative livestock rearing. Changes in acidification were primarily caused by fertilisation with nitrogen, while liming conducted every 10 years significantly counterbalanced this negative effect. Mineralisation of organic matter caused by liming increased the total nitrogen content, hence a significantly narrower C:N ratio was observed. The C:N and C:S ratios cannot be treated as valid indicators of grassland management practice. The reason is the high dynamic of sulphur, nitrogen and carbon cycles caused not only by liming, but also by diversity in plant yield.

Potato tubers obtained from a field experiment carried out in 2002-2004 were used for our analysis. The soil grain-size structure was that of light loamy sand. Two soil tillage systems were compared: conventional (ploughing + fall ploughing + harrowing + cultivating + harrowing) and simplified (reversing ploughing + cultivating). The second factor involved seven weeding methods such as application of the following herbicides: Plateen 41.5 WG, Plateen 41.5 WG + Fusilade Forte 150 EC, Plateen 41.5 WG + Fusilade Forte 150 EC + Atpolan 80 EC, Barox 460 SL, Barox 460 SL + Fusilade Forte 150 EC, Barox 460 SL + Fusilade Forte 150 EC + Atpolan 80 EC. Iron content and uptake with tuber yield significantly depended on the tillage practices and weeding methods as well as the weather conditions over the growing period. Conventionally tilled potato tubers had more iron, 65.80 g⋅kg-1 on average, than the tubers whose cultivation was based on simplified tillage, 64.82 g⋅kg-1 on average. The herbicides applied significantly increased the iron content and its uptake with tuber yield by an average 4.2 and 13.8%, respectively.
Pracę oparto na próbach bulw z doświadczenia polowego przeprowadzonego w latach 2002-2004 na glebie o składzie piasku gliniastego lekkiego. Porównywano dwa sposoby uprawy roli – tradycyjną (orka + orka przedzimowa + bronowanie + kultywatorowanie + bronowanie) i uproszczoną (orka odwrotna + kultywatorowanie) i siedem sposobów pielęgnacji z udziałem herbicydów: Plateen 41,5 WG, Plateen 41,5 WG + Fusilade Forte 150 EC, Plateen 41,5 WG + Fusilade Forte 150 EC + Atpolan 80 EC, Barox 460 SL, Barox 460 SL + Fusilade Forte 150 EC, Barox 460 SL + Fusilade Forte 150 EC + Atpolan 80 EC. Zawartość żelaza i jego pobranie z plonem bulw zależały istotnie od sposobów uprawy i pielęgnacji oraz warunków pogodowych w okresie wegetacji. Więcej żelaza zawierały bulwy ziemniaka z uprawy tradycyjnej – średnio 65,80 g⋅kg-1 w porównaniu z uproszczoną – średnio 64,82 g⋅kg-1. Herbicydy zastosowane w pielęgnacji podwyższały istotnie zawartość żelaza – średnio o 4,2% i jego pobranie z plonem bulw – średnio o 13,8% w porównaniu z obiektem kontrolnym.

Based on a 3-year field study, the effect of mineral nitrogen fertilization on the yield, selected tuber quality characteristics and fertilization efficiency indicators for early potato varieties grown in the integrated production system were determined. The quality of tubers was assessed according to the percentage share of tuber size and their external defects in the yield structure, starch content, dry matter, nitrates (V), protein and total nitrogen in tubers. The efficiency of fertilization with mineral nitrogen was expressed by the agronomic efficiency (AE), physiological efficiency (PE) and fertilizer recovery efficiency (FRE) by tubers. Two experimental factors were considered: nitrogen dose (0, 50, 100, 150 kg ha-1) and varieties (Bohun, Lady Rosetta, Lawenda, Madeleine, Magnolia). The increase in the dose of mineral nitrogen contributed to a significant increase in the yield structure of tubers with a diameter above 60 mm, the content of nitrates (V), protein, total nitrogen, the uptake of nitrogen and a decrease in nitrogen fertilization efficiency indicators. It was shown that the Lady Rosetta and Lawenda varieties were characterized by higher requirements concerning the optimal nitrogen dose than the other varieties. Nitrogen fertilization efficiency, the content of nitrates (V) and tuber greening were determined mainly by the weather conditions, while the yield, nitrogen content and uptake by tubers were determined by the fertilizing factor, and the remaining tuber quality features were shaped to the greatest extent by the genotype. In a wet year, a significantly higher tuber yield, more large tubers in the structure and higher nitrogen fertilization efficiency were obtained. In years with rainfall deficit, a higher content of total nitrogen, protein, nitrates (V) in tubers and higher nitrogen uptake were found than in a wet year.

Nawożenie jest podstawowym czynnikiem i zarazem wskaźnikiem efektywności produkcji rolniczej. Dostępny obecnie na polskim rynku bardzo szeroki i zróżnicowany pod względem jakościowym i cenowym asortyment nawozów mineralnych, o podobnych nazwach, często utrudnia rolnikowi wybór odpowiedniego nawozu. Pozytywnym zjawiskiem jest powolny, ale systematyczny wzrost udziału nawozów wieloskładnikowych w ogólnym zużyciu nawozów mineralnych przez polskiego rolnika. Nawozy wieloskładnikowe umożliwiają dostarczanie roślinom jednocześnie kilku składników pokarmowych w odpowiednich ilościach i proporcjach, najczęściej z uwzględnieniem zasobności gleby w przyswajalny fosfor, potas i magnez. Celem pracy była ocena wpływu zastosowanych nawozów wieloskładnikowych mieszanych na wielkość plonu, zawartość i pobranie makroelementów przez pszenżyto jare. Trzyletnie doświadczenie polowe (2005-2007) przeprowadzono w zakładzie Dydaktyczno-Doświadczalnym w Tomaszkowie należącym do Uniwersytetu Warmińsko-Mazurskiego w Olsztynie. Doświadczenie, założone metodą losowanych bloków, obejmowało trzy obiekty nawozowe: obiekt kontrolny (nawozy jednoskładnikowe) oraz dwa nawozy wieloskładnikowe mieszane - Amofosmag 4 (NPKMg 4:15:15:2) i Amofosmag 3 (NPKMg 3:14:20:2). Rośliną testowaną było pszenżyto jare (Triticosecale Wittm) odmiany Wanad. Z badań wynika, że najkorzystniej na plon ziarna pszenżyta jarego wpłynął Amofosmag 4, który zwiększył go średnio o ok. 11% w porównaniu z obiektem kontrolnym. Natomiast Amofosmag 3 działał na poziomie nawozów jednoskładnikowych. Nawozy jednoskładnikowe i wieloskładnikowe podobnie kształtowały skład mineralny ziarna i słomy pszenżyta, który mieścił się w ogólnie przyjętych normach. Większe zróżnicowanie wystąpiło między poszczególnymi latami badań. Największe łączne pobranie azotu, fosforu, potasu, wapnia i magnezu przez pszenżyto jare stwierdzono po zastosowaniu Amofosmagu 4, co świadczy o lepszej przyswajalności składników pokarmowych z tego nawozu niż z nawozów jednoskładnikowych oraz z Amofosmagu 3.

Zinc (Zn) is an important element for the proper plant growth and development. However, Zn is also a metal commonly used in the industry, which may cause its excessive accumulation in soil. High soil Zn content leads to its increased uptake by plants growing near industrialized areas. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) live in symbiosis with the majority of plant species. These fungi have the ability to reduce Zn uptake by plants, when this element is present in an increased concentration in the plant root zone. An experiment was carried out to determine the effect of AMF on Zn uptake by lettuce plants grown in rockwool at increasing levels of Zn in the nutrient solution. This effect was investigated at two P levels in the nutrient solution, i.e. 40 mg P (optimal for lettuce) and 10 mg P dm-3. Mycorrhizal parameters, yield, content of dry matter, ascorbic acid, glucose, fructose and sucrose as well as the plant’s nutritional status in P, Cu, Mn, Mo, Fe and Zn were determined in the study. The effectiveness of mycorrhization of lettuce grown in rockwool was proven in the study. AMF reduced the Zn content in lettuce grown under excessive Zn concentrations in the root zone. Moreover, this decrease was greater in plants receiving the nutrient solution with a lower concentration of P. Additionally, mycorrhiza decreased the content of Cu, Fe, Mn and Mo in lettuce, despite an optimal (not increased) concentration of these micronutrients in the nutrient solution supplied to plants. Arbuscular mycorrhiza did not affect the plant yield, content of ascorbic acid, glucose, fructose, sucrose or the content of P in lettuce leaves.

Chinese flowering cabbage (Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis var. utilis Tsen et Lee) is an important leafy vegetable species, which originates from Guangdong province in southern China. There is a variety called purple Chinese flowering cabbage (Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis L. Makino var. purpurea Bailay), which is popular in the Yangtze River basin, e.g. in Wuhan and Sichuan provinces. This manuscript is a review of recent studies on the nutritional value, breeding methods and factors affecting the yield of Chinese flowering cabbage. This vegetable is rich in glucosinolates, polyphenols, amino acids, fatty acids, soluble sugar and vitamin C. It also exhibits some antioxidative activity, e.g. the TEAC value was 16.93 μmol Trolox g-1 and the FRAP value was 12.01 µmol Fe(II) g-1 in total. Controlling the Cd level in Chinese flowering cabbage is important due to the fact that it can easily accumulate Cd in its edible leaves and flowering stems. To reduce the effect given by Cd, foliar spray with trace elements had been studied. Moreover, nitrogen fertilizer, biofertilizer and several cultivation methods have been implemented to improve the yielding and nutritional value of Chinese flowering cabbage. Depending on the conditions, fertilisation increased the yield from 19.1% to 168%, whereas the fresh weight of a single plant varied from 0.835 kg to 1.683 kg and the average yielding in the field ranged from 7.857 t ha-1 to 19.1 t ha-1. In the last part of this paper, we reviewed the different breeding methods that have been used to develop new varieties of Chinese flowering cabbage meeting specific requirements, such as selecting a hybrid with kale to enrich the genotype, increase the resistance or discover a specific bolting gene. In brief, Chinese flowering cabbage has the potential for future research and commercial market.

Opis:
The simplification of crop rotation systems, an increase in the concentration of cultivated cereals, and intensification of animal production in litter-free farms have drastically reduced the pig manure production. The consequences include negative organic matter balance and considerable leaching of mineral components from fields. The objective of this paper is to assess the effect of high doses of pig slurry on plants, and to analyse the ionic balance of white mustard. The experiment was conducted in four replications. Test plots were treated with pig slurry at doses of 0, 30, 60, and 90 tonnes fresh mass per hectare. Then, white mustard was sown. After the harvest, the plant material was separated into grains, husks, and stalks. The following were determined in the organic material: total nitrogen, cations (Ca, Mg, K, Na), phosphorus, and total organic acids. The ionic composition of particular parts of plants showed considerable differences associated with different life functions of these plant organs. In grains and stalks of mustard, the ratio of bivalent (Ca+Mg) to monovalent cations (K+Na) showed no considerable variations and was approximate to one. It was only in husks that bivalent cations were three times more abundant that monovalent cations. A considerable increase in yields was observed with an increase in pig slurry doses. The analysis showed the highest accumulation of Ca and K in husks, and the accumulation of mostly N, P, and Mg in grains. During the crop cultivation, approximately 20% of nutrients absorbed by plants from the soil are removed in the form of useful yield, that is grains. The remaining plant parts are ploughed as organic matter, providing nutrients to successive crops through its slow mineralisation over several years.

Various apple rootstock genotypes may affect fruit tree nutrition. The plant nutritional status has a significant impact on the growth and yield of apple trees. The experiment was conducted in 2007-2015, at the Experimental Station in Samotwór near Wrocław, south-western Poland. During the nine-year study, the impact of different rootstocks (M.26, B.7-35, B.396, ARM 18, M.9, B.491, P 16, B.146 and PB-4) on the nutritional status, growth and yield of ‘Mutsu’ apple trees was investigated. Samples of leaves were collected for the analysis of macro– and microelements in the second half of July in 2009-2011. The study showed an ambiguous influence of rootstock on leaf macro-and microelement composition. This effect differed depending on a year. The results of the average content of the analysed components showed no effect of a rootstock on P, Mg, Mn and Zn concentrations in the leaves. M.26 rootstock resulted in the lower copper level (a significant difference when compared to B.7-35, M.9, B.146 and B.491). Trees on B.491, M.26 and B.7-35 rootstocks were worse stocked in boron than apple trees on ARM-18, M.9 and B.396. In comparison with stronger growing rootstocks, trees on PB-4 were characterised by the low content of calcium. Trees on B.7-35 rootstock grew the most, while the ones grafted on PB-4 showed the weakest growth and had the smallest fruits. The highest number of root suckers was observed for trees grafted on B.7-35 and ARM 18. Until the ninth year after planting, the largest yield was obtained from trees on B.396. In the present study, this rootstock proved to be the best for the ‘Mutsu’ cultivar

In 2011-2013, a field experiment was conducted at the Plant Breeding Station in Polanowice near Krakow (220 m above sea level), on degraded Chernozem developed from loess. The field experiment was set up in a randomized block design with three replications. The experimental material used in this study was cv. Egida timothy grass. The aim of the study has been to test whether L-ascorbic acid supplementing for foliar fertilization with magnesium sulfate enhances magnesium absorption by plants and what effects it has on yielding and dry matter composition of timothy grass cut and used as forage. Three levels of L-ascorbic acid fertilization were applied (10, 20 and 30 g ha-1) with and without magnesium sulfate 7-hydrate. The plants were sprayed until wet, using 300 dm3 liquid per hectare. Spraying was performed 6-8 days from the onset of growth for the first harvest, and a week after cutting for the other harvests. Statistically significant improvement in yielding and forage quality was observed for the combined magnesium/ ascorbic acid fertilization. Fertilization with these two nutrients caused an increase in the total dry matter yield of timothy grass cv. Egida (together from 3 cuts), with differences reaching as much as 26% depending on the year (in the variant of combined magnesium sulfate and ascorbic acid application at 30 g ha-1). Another benefit of ascorbate application was an increase in forage quality (the content of crude protein, crude fat, water soluble carbohydrates and macronutrients). Best effects in terms of yielding and forage quality were obtained after a combined application of magnesium sulfate and ascorbic acid (30 g ha-1). Combined fertilization with magnesium sulfate and ascorbic acid tended to produce a stronger effect after periods of dry weather, which is discussed in the study.

Barley is a cereal of great importance in the crop structure both in Europe and globally. The nutritional value of barley grain is largely shaped by agronomic factors, in particular by fertilisation, which can have a significant impact on the content of individual elements and their quantitative interrelations in grain. The aim of the research was to evaluate yielding, the content of protein and the accumulation of mineral nutrients by the grain of spring barley grown exposed to varied NPK and S fertilisation. The study was based on a three-factor field experiment in a randomised split-plot design with 3 replications. The 1st order factor (A) was fertilisation with nitrogen (n = 3): N1 – 40 kg ha-1, N2 – 80 kg ha-1, N3 – 120 kg ha-1. The 2nd order factor (B) was fertilisation with phosphorus and potassium (n = 2): P1 K1 – 30 kg P ha-1, 80 kg K ha-1; P2K2 – 45 kg P ha-1, 120 kg K ha-1. The 3rd order factor (C) was fertilisation with sulphur (n = 2): S0 – 0 kg ha-1 and S1 – 23 kg ha-1. The study showed that the application of 80 and 120 kg N ha-1 resulted in obtaining a significantly higher grain yield of spring barley and, usually, a higher grain protein content than did the application of 40 kg N ha-1. The increase in yield effected by sulphur fertilisation was significant in relation to the objects without sulphur fertilisation. The highest accumulation of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium was found following fertilisation with a dose of 80 kg N ha-1, as compared with the accumulation with grain from the experimental variant with the application of 40 kg N ha-1. As a result of sulphur application, considerably more nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium was obtained in the grain yield. Sulphur applied in combination with a dose of 120 kg N ha-1 usually caused a significant decrease in the accumulation of the tested macroelements.

The aim of this paper was to review 100 years of Polish studies on sulphur fertilisation and its effects on the growth and development of plants, the chemical composition and impact of sulphur compounds on the health of plants, and its fungicidal activity. In the reviewed studies sulphur deficiency generally delayed vegetative growth, caused the dying out of the growth cone, yellow discolouration of the generative and vegetative organs and delayed maturation. Observations of plants have demonstrated that sulphur is essential for normal photosynthetic functions. Plants suffering from a lack or shortage of sulphur had pale green or yellowish, narrow, short and small leaves, and a smaller than normal root system, which was associated with reduced chlorophyll synthesis. The availability of sulphur was found to enatil an improved uptake of nitrogen by plants, thus affecting their quality and optimising the N:S ratio. Fertilisation with sulphur increased the total content of sulphur and sulphates in plants. Findings from studies on the effect of sulphur on the content of macroelements in tested plants are inconclusive. Sulphur used in excess disturbed the ionic balance in plants and indirectly affected the intensity and level of uptake of other nutrients. The results of studies investigating the impact of sulphur on changes in the content of heavy metals were ambiguous and demonstrated either synergistic or antagonistic interactions. Generally, sulphur fertilisation increased the content of glucosinolates in plants and improved their nutritional value. Most studies also showed that sulphur fertilisation improved the disease resistance of plants. Some studies have also demonstrated an increased content of glucosinolates in plants fertilised with sulphur, which stimulated natural resistance to fungal infections.

In the years 2005–2007, research work on the influence of surface and subsurface drip irrigation on the yield and quality of roots of parsley grown on ridges and on flat ground was carried out. Irrigation water was supplied via drip lines, which in subsurface irrigation were placed at a depth of 50 mm below the surface of the ridges, along the centreline between two rows of plants. In the case of surface irrigation, the drip lines were placed on the surface of the ridges between two rows of plants. Irrigation started when soil water potential was between -30 and -40 kPa. Nitrogen fertilizers (100 kg⋅ha-1) were applied in two doses. The first dose was applied pre-plant, while the second one was delivered by fertigation. In the control treatment without irrigation, the second dose of nitrogen was applied by broadcasting. Both surface and subsurface irrigation used in the cultivation on ridges and on flat ground had a significant effect on the marketable yield of parsley roots. However, no significant differences in the yield between surface and subsurface drip irrigation were found. The yield of non-marketable parsley roots in flat cultivation was twice as high as that in ridge cultivation. Parsley plants cultivated on ridges produced significantly longer, better-shaped storage roots compared to those cultivated on flat ground. Surface and subsurface drip irrigation significantly decreased the total N and K content in parsley roots.
W latach 2005–2007 badano wpływ nawadniania kroplowego powierzchniowego i podpowierzchniowego na plonowanie korzeni pietruszki uprawianej na płaskim gruncie i na redlinach. Nawadnianie prowadzono z użyciem przewodów nawadniających, z wewnętrznie wtopionymi co 35 cm emiterami z kompensacją ciśnienia, które przy nawadnianiu podpowierzchniowym umieszczono na głębokości 50 mm, pośrodku dwóch rzędów roślin. Nawadnianie rozpoczynano, gdy potencjał wodny gleby wynosił od -30 kPa do -40 kPa. Nawozy azotowe (100 kg N⋅ha-1) wprowadzano w dwóch dawkach: pierwszą zastosowano przedwegetacyjnie, drugą podano przez fertygację. W kontroli drugą dawkę wniesiono w nawożeniu posypowym. Nawadnianie kroplowe powierzchniowe i podpowierzchniowe zastosowane zarówno na redlinach, jak i na płaskim gruncie powodowało istotny wzrost plonu handlowego korzeni pietruszki. Natomiast nie stwierdzono różnic w plonie pietruszki po zastosowaniu powierzchniowego i podpowierzchniowego sposobu nawadniania kroplowego. W uprawie pietruszki na redlinach udział korzeni niekształtnych w plonie był o 100% mniejszy w porównaniu z uprawą na płaskim gruncie. Pietruszka uprawiana na redlinach wytwarzała dłuższe korzenie spichrzowe, o lepszym kształcie w porównaniu z uprawą na płaskim gruncie. Nawadnianie powierzchniowe i wgłębne powodowało istotny spadek zawartości azotu ogólnego i potasu w korzeniach pietruszki.
