Opis:
The article presents the process of obtaining liquid fuels and fuel gas in the process of plasma processing of organic materials, including waste plastics. The concept of plasma pyrolysis of plastics was presented and on its basis a prototype installation was developed. The article describes a general rule of operating the installation and its elements in the process and basic operation parameters determined during its startup. Initial results of processing plastics and the directions of further investigations are also discussed. The effect of the research is to be the design of effective technology of obtaining fuels from gasification/pyrolysis of organic waste and biomass.

Opis:
Municipal WWTPs often receive industrial wastewater including the bakery sewage. The effluent of the bakery industry has a high biological oxygen demand (BOD). In addition to high BOD, this wastewater contains high chemical oxygen demand (COD), total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN) and is characterized by a dark color. The effect of bakery wastewater contribution on the COD fraction changes in the municipal sewage is presented in this paper. The study was conducted in July 2016 in a WWTP located in Lipsk, East-North Poland. The sewage receiver is the Biebrza River. The volume contribution of bakery wastewater is 10%. The analytical results were used to compute the percentage value contribution of individual COD fractions in wastewater. During the study, the following fractions were identified: SS – COD of readily-biodegradable dissolved organic matter, SI – COD of non-biodegradable dissolved organic matter, XS – COD of slowly-biodegradable non-soluble organic matter, XI – COD of non-biodegradable non-soluble organic matter. The method used for the COD fraction determination in wastewater was developed based on the ATV 131P guidelines (ATV-DVWK-A131P). The aim of the study was to determine the effect of bakery wastewater contribution on the COD fraction changes during the technical scale biological wastewater treatment with an activated-sludge process. The percentage contributions of individual COD fractions in wastewater were compared with the shares in the wastewater from other food industries (dairy, olive mill, tomato, sugar beet, potato processing, winery). In raw wastewater, the XS fraction was dominant 44.2%. SS fraction was 38.8%. In raw wastewater, the SI, XI fractions ranged from 2.3 to 14.8%. In the effluent the SS fraction was not noted, which is indicative of microorganisms consumption. The WWTP effluents mostly (43.4%) contained slowly-biodegradable non-soluble organic matter (XS). Non-biodegradable dissolved organic matter (SI fraction) had a high share of 42.3%.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine and compare the amount and biodegradability of organic compounds determined by the COD measure contained in raw sewage inflowing to small sewage treatment plants and municipal sewage wastewater treatment plants with high personal equivalent (P.E.). Raw sewage samples were collected in three chosen facilities. The research presented in the article were conducted with two small plants: constructed wetland plant with an average capacity of 4 m3/d and the treatment plant with rotary biological contactor (RBC) with an average capacity of 5 m3/d. Also big municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with activated sludge in Bialystok with a capacity of about 63 000 m3/d was checked. The lowest percentages of dissolved fraction of soluble organic non-biodegradable substances SI was founded in raw sewage in small wastewater treatment plants (CW and RBC).

Opis:
The issue of indoor air quality is becoming increasingly important. Ensuring optimal air parameters is important for the health of people who are particularly sensitive to impurities contained therein. Finding solutions that improve the quality of indoor air requires a prior detailed recognition of the problem of its pollution. The subject of the research is dust pollution in the air in a teaching laboratory room. The attention was focused on the characteristics of air pollution with the total dust fraction and suspended particulate fractions PM10 and PM2.5. The dust content was measured with a laser meter enabling indirect measurement. It consists in using the phenomenon of damping laser light scattered on the tested air sample at an angle of 90 degrees. As a result of the conducted research, factors influencing the increase of dust concentration in the indoor air were identified. These include the quality of the outdoor air and the source of dust emission in the room. In order to obtain more comprehensive data, it is necessary to continue the research with the possibility of extending the duration of the measurement tests and the test cycle.
