Opis:
A severe white rot decay of a very old mango (Mangifera indica L.) tree trunk was observed form Himachal Pradesh, a hilly state of north India. The initial of decaying symptoms were firstly noticed in 2010 which progressed with destructive tissue death of tree trunk. A spongy, sessile, bracket-fungus was found associated with the decay. Morphological and microscopic examination of the collected specimens confirmed the fungus as Phellinus gilvus (Schw.) Pat. Since, P. gilvus is a saprobic fungus having a wide host range worldwide and M. indica is one of the most attacked hosts in India. Therefore, the present report is an important addition to the existing knowledge which will be helpful in understanding the pathogen diversity and interaction with host.

Drinking water is acting as life line for living thing on the Earth, without that no life. Due to global industrialization availability of pure water is one of the major issues. The effluent are directly or indirectly discharge through the river stream, which affect the ground as well as sea water and climatically cycle water reach to us. In that condition medicine are required for quire purpose. In the world so many plants and herbs are available which are used as antimicrobial and sources of medicines. Today the large number of drugs in use is derived from plants. The important advantages for therapeutic uses of medicinal plants in various ailments are their safety besides being economical, effective and easy availability. In this regard’s herb plant Eucalyptus extracted oil is used as antibacterial agent to treat the drinking water.

Artisanal mining has become prominent in these areas. It’s become imperative to analyze these metal concentrations because they are associated with gold mineralization. Apart from polluting the water by artisanal miners, heavy metals are released into the surface water which most villager drink without pre-treatment.

Opis:
This study was aimed for removal of phenol from water using activated carbon synthesize from avocado kernel seeds by adsorption onto it. For adsorption process cleaned and washed avocado kernel seeds (Persea americana) were dried at 100°C in an oven overnight and carbonization was carried out by increasing the furnace temperature at a rate of 5 °C/min to a final temperature of 800 °C for 160 minutes. Then, the activated carbon was powdered and sieved, washed with distilled water until the solution pH reached 7.0. Optimization of activated carbon was performed through effects of solution pH, contact time; initial phenol concentration and temperature of the adsorption. The kinetic studies of the adsorption process were achieved by verifying various models and the data obtained was best fitted to pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The isotherms models were analyzed with Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin to validate the adsorption process. It was found that Langmuir model was best fitted to the obtained result for both adsorbents.

Opis:
In recent years, insilico approaches have been predicting novel drug targets. The present day development in pharmaceutics mainly ponders on target based drugs and this has been aided by structure based drug designing and subtractive genomics. In the present study, the computational genome subtraction methodology was applied for identification of novel, potential drug target against Bacillus anthracis, cause of deadly anthrax. The potential drug target identified through subtractive genomics approach was considered as polysaccharide deacetylase. By virtual screening against NCI database and Drugbank chemical libraries, two potential lead molecules were predicted. Further the potential lead molecules and target protein were subjected for docking studies using Autodock.

Opis:
Carallia brachiata (Lour.) Merr. is one of the soft woody species occurring all along the Western Ghats region of Kundapura, Karnataka, India. The species is considered to be a potent medicinal plant exclusively used against itch and septic poisoning. A study was under gone based on the report of forest department (Karnataka) on mortality of Carallia brachiata. Observation of symptoms on the infected trees and experimental analysis of the samples under laboratory conditions revealed the incidence of Neofusicoccum sp., a first report on Carallia brachiata. This particular Neofusicoccum sp. belongs to Botryospaeriaceae family, and is considered to be an important fungal pathogen associated with tree decline in forest and plantation worldwide.

Acrocarpus fraxinifolius portrait one among the mainstay of agro forestry in Asian tropics. The lofty tree fortified a substantial impact in every horizon of life. The evergreen, deciduous tree of Fabaceae family stands tall about 30-60 m endowed with unique properties which idiosyncrasies it in the plant kingdom. Surpassing the adverse climatic conditions, A. fraxinifolius serves as a shade tree for tea and coffee plantation and epitomises as a multipurpose avenue tree culminating to the culture of agro forestry. Mundani in bloom is a spectacular appearance bestowed with scarlet crimson red flowers attracting infinite migratory birds and insects. The ancestral gene with indelible memory gravitate this extraordinary majestic tree to aestivate and adapt to strongest survive.

Opis:
Biological method is considered as eco-friendly and reliable process for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNps) in the field of nanotechnology due to its tremendous applications in various fields. In this study we have isolated a total of twelve endophytic fungi from leaves of Curcuma longa (turmeric) and Catharanthus roseus out of which six endophytic fungi showed their ability to synthesized AgNps from silver nitrate (AgNO3) solution which splits into a positive silver ion (Ag+) and a negative nitrate ion (NO3 -) in order to turn the silver ions into solid silver (Agº). Of the six positive endophytic fungi VRD2 showed good and encouraging results and was identified as Penicillium spinulosum VRD2. UV-Visible Spectroscopy confirms the AgNps showing maximum peak at 425nm implying the bioreduction of AgNO3. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) revealed the particle are spherical and well dispersed without agglomeration size ranging from 25- 30nm.
