Opis:
In this paper, the mixed convective flow of an electrically conducting, viscous incompressible couple stress fluid through a vertical channel filled with a saturated porous medium has been investigated. The fluid is assumed to be driven by both buoyancy force and oscillatory pressure gradient parallel to the channel plates. A uniform magnetic field of strength 0B is imposed transverse to the channel boundaries. The temperature of the right channel plate is assumed to vary periodically, and the temperature difference between the plates is high enough to induce radiative heat transfer. Under these assumptions, the equations governing the two-dimensional couple stress fluid flow are formulated and exact solutions of the velocity and the temperature fields are obtained. The effects of radiation, Hall current, porous medium permeability and other various flow parameters on the flow and heat transfer are presented graphically and discussed extensively.

The flow of a couple-stress lubricant in a clearance of a curvilinear thrust hydrostatic bearing with impermeable walls is considered. The flow in the bearing clearance is considered with inertia forces. The equations of motion are solved by an averaged inertia method. As a result, the formulae for pressure distributions without and with inertia effects were obtained. Radial thrust bearings and spherical bearings are discussed as numerical examples. It is shown that inertia effects influence the bearing performance considerably.

Opis:
The paper deals with a theoretical study on blood flow in a stenosed segment of an artery, when blood is mixed with nano-particles. Blood is treated here as a couple stress fluid. Stenosis is known to impede blood flow and to be the cause of different cardiac diseases. Since the arterial wall is weakened due to arterial stenosis, it may lead to dilatation /aneurysm. The homotopy perturbation technique is employed to determine the solution to the problem for the case of mild stenosis. Analytical expressions for velocity, shear stress at the wall, pressure drop, and flow resistance are derived. The impact of different physical constants on the wall shear stress and impedance of the fluid is examined by numerical simulation. Streamline patterns of the nanofluid are investigated for different situations.

Thermal Instability (Benard’s Convection) in the presence of uniform rotation and uniform magnetic field (separately) is studied. Using the linearized stability theory and normal mode analyses the dispersion relation is obtained in each case. In the case of rotatory Benard’s stationary convection compressibility and rotation postpone the onset of convection whereas the couple-stress have duel character onset of convection depending on rotation parameter. While in the absence of rotation couple-stress always postpones the onset of convection. On the other hand, magnetic field on thermal instability problem on couple-stress fluid for stationary convection couple-stress parameter and magnetic field postpones the onset of convection. The effect of compressibility also postpones the onset of convection in both cases as rotation and magnetic field. Graphs have been plotted by giving numerical values to the parameters to depict the stationary characteristics. Further, the magnetic field and rotation are found to introduce oscillatory modes which were non-existent in their absence and then the principle of exchange of stability is valid. The sufficient conditions for non-existence of overstability are also obtained.

Opis:
This article addresses the impact of magnetic field induction on the buoyancy-induced oscillatory flow of couple stress fluid with varying heating. Modelled equations for the incompressible fluid are coupled and nonlinear due to the inclusion of viscous heating and thermal effect on the fluid density. Approximate solutions are constructed and coded on a symbolic package to ease the computational complexity. Graphical representations of the symbolic solutions are presented with detailed explanations. Results of the present computation show that the effect of induced magnetic field on the oscillatory flow and heat transfer is significant and cannot be neglected.

We have studied the problem of homogenous, isotropic non-local couple stress micropolar thermoelastic solid in the absence of body forces, couple density and heat resources. The reflection and transmission of waves at the interface of two distinct media have been investigated. It is observed that amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves are functions of wave number of incident waves and are affected by the non-local parameter of thermoelastic solid.

Opis:
In this study we examine the effect of the magnetic field parameter on the growth rate of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability (RTI) in a couple stress fluids. A simple theory based on fully developed flow approximations is used to derive the dispersion relation for the growth rate of the RTI. The general dispersion relation obtained using perturbation equations with appropriate boundary conditions will be reduced for the special cases of propagation and the condition of instability and stability will be obtained. In solving the problem of the R-T instability the appropriate boundary conditions will be applied. The couple-stress parameter is found to be stabilizing and the influence of the various parameters involved in the problem on the interface stability is thoroughly analyzed. The new results will be obtained by plotting the curves between the dimensionless growth rate and the dimensionless wave number for various physical parameters involved in the problem (viz. the magnetic field, couple-stress, porosity, etc.) in the problem. It is found that the magnetic field and couple-stress have a stabilization effect whereas the buoyancy force (surface tension) has a destabilization effect on the RT instability in the presence of porous media.

The reflection and refraction phenomenon of propagation of waves in couple stress micropolar thermoviscous elastic solid media with independent viscoelastic and micropolar properties have been studied. The structure of the model has been taken such that the plane interface is divides the given media into two half spaces in perfect contact. Here, we find that there are five waves, one of them is propagating independently while others are set of two coupled waves travelling with different speeds. Energy ratios, reflection and refraction coefficients relative to numerous reflected and refracted waves have been investigated when set of two coupled longitudinal waves and set of two coupled transverse waves strike at the interface through the solid medium. The inequality of energy ratios, refraction coefficients and reflection coefficients are evaluated numerically and presented graphically under three theories of thermoelasticity, namely, Green-Lindsay theory (GL), Lord-Shulman theory (LS), Coupled theory (CT) versus angular frequency and angle of incidence.

An investigation is made on the effect of Hall currents on thermal instability of a compressible couple-stress fluid in the presence of a horizontal magnetic field saturated in a porous medium. The analysis is carried out within the framework of the linear stability theory and normal mode technique. A dispersion relation governing the effects of viscoelasticity, Hall currents, compressibility, magnetic field and porous medium is derived. For the stationary convection a couple-stress fluid behaves like an ordinary Newtonian fluid due to the vanishing of the viscoelastic parameter. Compressibility, the magnetic filed and couple-stress parameter have stabilizing effects on the system whereas Hall currents and medium permeability have a destabilizing effect on the system, but in the absence of Hall current couple-stress has a destabilizing effect on the system. It has been observed that oscillatory modes are introduced due to the presence of viscoelasticity, magnetic field porous medium and Hall currents which were non-existent in their absence.

The thermal instability of a couple-stress Rivlin-Ericksen ferromagnetic fluid with varying gravity field, suspended particles, rotation and magnetic field flowing through a porous medium is investigated. The dispersion relation has been developed and solved analytically using the normal mode approach and linear stability theory. The effect of suspended particles, rotation, couple stress, permeability and magnetic field on the fluid layer has been investigated. For stationary conventions, it is found that suspended particles always have a destabilizing effect for λ>0 and a stabilizing effect for λ<0 and couple-stress, magnetic field and permeability of the medium have a stabilizing effect on the thermal instability under certain conditions. In the absence of the rotation couple-stress has a stabilizing effect if λ >0 and a destabilizing effect if λ<0. Rotation has a stabilizing effect if λ >0 and a destabilizing effect if λ<0. In the absence of rotation permeability has a stabilizing effect if λ<0 and a destabilizing effect if λ>0. Magnetisation always has a stabilizing effect ( λ>0 or λ<0).

In the paper, currently used methods for modeling the flow of the aqueous humor through eye structures are presented. Then a computational model based on rheological models of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids is proposed. The proposed model may be used for modeling the flow of the aqueous humor through the trabecular meshwork. The trabecular meshwork is modeled as an array of rectilinear parallel capillary tubes. The flow of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids is considered. As a results of discussion mathematical equations of permeability of porous media and velocity of fluid flow through porous media have been received.
