This paper develops a new actuator failure compensation scheme for two linked two-wheel drive (2WD) mobile robots based on multiple-model control. First, a configuration of two linked 2WD robots is described, and their kinematics and dynamics are modeled. Then, a multiple-model based failure compensation scheme is developed to compensate for actuator failures, consisting of a kinematic controller, multiple dynamic controllers and a control switching mechanism, which ensures system stability and asymptotic tracking properties. Finally, simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed failure compensation control system.

Opis:
The purpose of this short paper is to provide original results related to the choice of the number of sensors and their supports for general distributed parameter systems. We introduce the notion of extended sensors and we show that the observation error decreases when the support of a sensor is widened. We also show that the observation error decreases when the number of sensors increases.

Opis:
Stabilization of neutral systems with state delay is considered in the presence of uncertainty and input limitations in magnitude. The proposed solution is based on simultaneously characterizing a set of stabilizing controllers and the associated admissible initial conditions through the use of a free weighting matrix approach. From this mathematical characterization, state feedback gains that ensure a large set of admissible initial conditions are calculated by solving an optimization problem with LMI constraints. Some examples are presented to compare the results with previous approaches in the literature.

This paper addresses a vehicle sequencing problem for adjacent intersections under the framework of Autonomous Intersection Management (AIM). In the context of AIM, autonomous vehicles are considered to be independent individuals and the traffic control aims at deciding on an efficient vehicle passing sequence. Since there are considerable vehicle passing combinations, how to find an efficient vehicle passing sequence in a short time becomes a big challenge, especially for more than one intersection. In this paper, we present a technique for combining certain vehicles into some basic groups with reference to some properties discussed in our earlier works. A genetic algorithm based on these basic groups is designed to find an optimal or a near-optimal vehicle passing sequence for each intersection. Computational experiments verify that the proposed genetic algorithms can response quickly for several intersections. Simulations with continuous vehicles are carried out with application of the proposed algorithm or existing traffic control methods. The results show that the traffic condition can be significantly improved by our algorithm.

Opis:
In this paper we show how to find convenient boundary actuators, termed boundary efficient actuators, ensuring finite-time space compensation of any boundary disturbance. This is the so-called remediability problem. Then we study the relationship between this remediability notion and controllability by boundary actuators, and hence the relationship between boundary strategic and boundary efficient actuators. We also determine the set of boundary remediable disturbances, and for a boundary disturbance, we give the optimal control ensuring its compensation.

We consider a discrete disturbed system given by the difference bilinear equation x^{w}_{i+1} =Ax^{w}_{i} + De_{i} + sum_{j=1}^{q}f^{j}_{i}B_{j}x^{w}_{i}, i geq 0, where w=((e_{i})_{i geq 0}, (f_{i})_{i geq 0}) are disturbances which excite the system in a linear and a bilinear form. We assume that the system is augmented with the output function y^{w}_{i}=Cx^{w}_{i}, i geq 0. Let varepsilon be a tolerance index on the output. The disturbance w is said to be varepsilon-admissible if ||y^{w}_{i}-y_{i}|| leq varepsilon, forall i geq 0, where (y_{i})_{i geq 0} is the output signal associated with the case of an uninfected system. The set of all varepsilon-admissible disturbances is the admissible set {cal W}(varepsilon). The characterization of {cal W}(varepsilon) is investigated and numerical simulations are given.

The purpose of this paper is to study the problem of regional detection, to characterize internal or boundary regionally detectable sources and regionally spy sensors, and to establish a relationship between these sensors and regionally strategic sensors. It is shown how to reconstruct a regionally detectable internal or a boundary source from a given output, with an extension to the case when the output is affected by an observation error. Numerical results are given in the case of a diffusion system.

This paper presents an adaptive Generalized Likelihood Ratio (GLR) test for multiple Faults Detection and Isolation (FDI) in stochastic linear dynamic systems. Based on the work of Willsky and Jones (1976), we propose a modified generalized likelihood ratio test, allowing detection, isolation and estimation of multiple sequential faults. Our contribution aims to maximise the good decision rate of fault detection using another updating strategy. This is based on a reference model updated on-line after each detection and isolation of one fault. To reduce the computational requirement, the passive GLR test will be derived from a state estimator designed on a fixed reference model directly sensitive to system changes. We will show that active and passive GLR tests will be mixed and give interesting results compared with the GLR of Willsky and Jones (1976), and that they can be easily integrated in a reconfigurable Fault-Tolerant Control System (FTCS) to asymptotically recover the nominal system performances of the jump-free system.

In this work, we introduce and examine the notion of domination for a class of linear distributed systems. This consists in studying the possibility to make a comparison between input or output operators. We give the main algebraic properties of such relations, as well as characterizations of exact and weak domination. We also study the case of actuators, and various situations are examined. Applications and illustrative examples are also given. By duality, we extend this study to observed systems. We obtain similar results and properties, and the case of sensors is equally examined.

In this paper, we propose a control Lyapunov function based on a nonlinear controller for a turbocharged diesel engine. A model-based approach is used which predicts the experimentally observed engine performance for a biodiesel. The basic idea is to develop an inverse optimal control and to employ a Lyapunov function in order to achieve good performances. The obtained controller gain guarantees the global convergence of the system and regulates the flows for the variable geometry turbocharger as well as exhaust gas recirculation systems in order to minimize the NOx emission and the smoke of a biodiesel engine. Simulation of the control performances based on professional software and experimental results show the effectiveness of this approach.

We present a random perturbation of the projected variable metric method for solving linearly constrained nonsmooth (i.e., nondifferentiable) nonconvex optimization problems, and we establish the convergence to a global minimum for a locally Lipschitz continuous objective function which may be nondifferentiable on a countable set of points. Numerical results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Cyberbullying has become more widespread as a result of the common use of social media, particularly among teenagers and young people. A lack of studies on the types of advice and support available to victims of bullying has a negative impact on individuals and society. This work proposes a hybrid model based on transformer models in conjunction with a support vector machine (SVM) to classify our own data set images. First, seven different convolutional neural network architectures are employed to decide which is best in terms of results. Second, feature extraction is performed using four top models, namely, ResNet50, EfficientNetB0, MobileNet and Xception architectures. In addition, each architecture extracts the same number of features as the number of images in the data set, and these features are concatenated. Finally, the features are optimized and then provided as input to the SVM classifier. The accuracy rate of the proposed merged models with the SVM classifier achieved 96.05%. Furthermore, the classification precision of the proposed merged model is 99% in the bullying class and 93% in the non-bullying class. According to these results, bullying has a negative impact on students’ academic performance. The results help stakeholders to take necessary measures against bullies and increase the community’s awareness of this phenomenon.

We consider the global optimization of a nonsmooth (nondifferentiable) nonconvex real function. We introduce a variable metric descent method adapted to nonsmooth situations, which is modified by the incorporation of suitable random perturbations. Convergence to a global minimum is established and a simple method for the generation of suitable perturbations is introduced. An algorithm is proposed and numerical results are presented, showing that the method is computationally effective and stable.
