Opis:
Flight safety is not a goal itself, neither it is the aim of aviation. Flight safety is the state in which all intended goals are realized All potential threats which can influence the processes of goals achievement are controlled simultaneously. The significance of “human factor” in the aviation safety has been known for years. It was the subject of research done by many research institutions, but only at the end of the twentieth century it received its importance. We can state that the “human factor” was institutionalized. The influence of human factors on likelihood of aviation accident was indicated by taking into consideration analysis result of aviation accidents both in military and civilian aviation in Poland. The statistics of US civilian aviation were taken into consideration for comparison. Possible prevention steps aimed at improving the level of flight safety for the areas related to the human factor were indicated.

Opis:
Modern safety management in rail transport determines new and interesting directions for its scientific exploration. As a railway system is dynamic, relationships between its individual components become particularly important. A component approach, however, has a complex dimension, due to the different categories of components that constitute this system. The interrelations between an operator, an object and a work environment determine the safety of this system. The operator understood as a Human Factor becomes increasingly important, even strategic in this relationship. The purpose of the paper is to present crucial human factor assessment and management methods and determine their comparative criteria. The paper also presents the selected possibilities of applying the given methods to specific technical, operational and organizational solutions within the framework of the functioning safety management system in rail transport. The paper describes an attempt to conceptualize and operationalize human factor management in rail transport in relation to selected methods presented.

Opis:
Widely understood safety belongs to important scientifi c issues and railway safety constitutes a transport development key factor in economy. Provisions of the law, regulations and community law detail the working of railway companies in many areas, also concerning safety. All aspects of safety aff ect proper functioning of railway companies, infrastructure development, and they also stimulate socio-economic development. Th e article presents various aspects of safety in railway companies depending on the environment, entities operating in railway environment, interaction between these entities and impact on creating safety postulate.

Opis:
The search for system solutions for improving the level of safety in rail transport requires focusing on the problem that is weakly exposed but difficult to manage, namely the elimination of human errors in the process of railway traffic and the use of railway traffic control systems. Despite the fact that the existing solutions have a relatively extensive theoretical layer, there is still much to do in terms of practical implications. In particular, the use of human factors, including knowledge and technology, facilitates the achievement of a number of positive effects: reducing the possibility of errors, increasing the margin of safety, reducing expenditures on redesigning solutions, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of training, reducing the potential of costly staff turnover and increasing the productivity of the entire organization. This subject has not been solved in a systemic way in Polish conditions. The purpose of the article is to present the holistic and eclectic description of the place and role of the human factor management process in terms of making errors by railway employees, which is designed to eliminate hazards in railway traffic and reduce risk. This has a significant impact on maintaining the expected level of railway traffic safety.
