This paper presents the main aspects concerning the systemic approach to the problem of interoperability of rail transport. Follow decision about the opening of the EU market and transport services for rail transport, the European Parliament and of the Council have introduced a number of interoperability directives for implement interoperability on the rail system in EU. Their goal was to get the integration of rail transport systems, despite the differences in control -command and signaling systems, power supply and operation system, to be rich on the safe and not disrupted train running over the different countries (different infrastructure managers). The article indicated the main areas in the railway system which are depends on strongly of the interoperability implementation.

Opis:
Making rational decisions about the planning and designing the traffic management in the city requires a proper description of traffic flows following through the various elements of the transportation network. This issue is the subject of many studies, resulting in a wide variety of models used in this field. Generally they can be divided into two main groups: models describing the distribution of traffic flows in the transportation network and models describing the transition of traffic flow by individual elements of the transportation network. This article reviews the models used to describe the traffic shaping in such an arrangement. Then the way of describing traffic flows, which may be used in the construction and calibration of dynamic traffic models has been formalized. The article also includes a calculation example with application of the proposed description of the components of traffic flows on the link of urban network.

The paper presents the application of the Multiple Criteria Decision Aid/Making (MCDA/MCDM) methodology in the assessment of the development of different scenarios for an urban public transportation system (UPTS). This methodology allows considering several conflicting objectives and performing the evaluation process in a comprehensive manner. This approach also corresponds to the holistic philosophy: different aspects (economic, technical, social etc.) and interest groups – stakeholders (operators, passengers, city government etc.). The MCDA/MCDM methodology is specifically customized to the real life case study – urban public transportation system in the city of Cracow (Poland). A family of 10 criteria is proposed to evaluate several solutions (W) for a UPTS in terms of their usefulness and attractiveness for different stakeholders. These criteria take into account: travel time and standard, effectiveness of the fleet use, environment friendliness, the level of integration and reliability of the UPTS, safety and security, the profitability and availability of the UPTS, investment costs. Considering the possible solutions, the 6 alternatives were designed heuristically and compared with the current state (denotation of alternative W0). Based on the analysis, for the final considerations compared with the current alternative, 7 new solutions of the integrated urban public transportation in Cracow were adopted, denoted as: W1 (bus/rail alternative: integration of high-speed agglomeration rail with bus transportation), W2 (rail/tram/bus alternative: integration of high-speed agglomeration rail with tram and bus transport system), W3 (alternative with the underground: integration of the underground with high-speed agglomeration rail and with tram and bus transport system), W4 (tram/rail alternative: integration of high-speed agglomeration rail with tram transport), W5 (Tram alternative: integration of tram transport with bus transport), W5A (tram alternative: sub-alternative to the alternative W5, integration of tram transport), W6 (dual-mode tram alternative: integration of dual-mode tram transport). The variants of the scenarios for the urban public transportation system were generated by VISUM computer macro-simulation software. The computational experiment was carried out with the practical application of different Multiple Criteria Decision Aid/Making methods: AHP (Expert Choice program) and Electre III (software package Diviz).

Industrial companies are linked with affiliated firms, suppliers and customers through the supply chains. Such chains operate within large-scale networks directly related to distribution and warehousing. In order to meet the market demands and customer new expectations, the various components of the supply chains have to be developed i.a. through implementation of the innovative vehicles, green and blue technologies. Moreover, modernization processes of transport and logistics system need to be resistant to crucial mistakes related to innovative solutions implementation in order to exclude domino effect occurrence. The authors attempt to build topology-based approach to the modernization of transport and logistics systems. It is assumed that each innovation application is the independent element-based coalition, possessing linked object structure. The results of multi-year researches demonstrate the offered approach as a useful tool to analyze innovative changes for obsolete transport and logistics system as hybrid structure. The ways of system structure transformation, as well as possible innovative effects are considered. The preliminary results have been obtained for compositions on meso-level for the case of marine propulsion modernisation. The paper is illustrated by various examples.

Electric vehicles are increasingly popular means of transport. One of the most important problems of their operation is to optimize the use of a battery pack. It requires to analyze the operational characteristics of a vehicle in motion, which are stored in a database. If the measurement data are collected from many vehicles, the efficiency of their analysis is important. The objective of this article is to study the possibilities of using modern column-oriented databases in order to increase the efficiency of the analysis of selected operational characteristics of an electric vehicle. The research problem is a comparative analysis of the processing efficiency of selected measurement characteristics of an electric vehicle in relational and column-oriented data structures. Important analytical functions were formulated and recorded in the form of database queries. An experiment consisting in multiple execution of functions packages on various database structures, including a column-oriented one, was carried out. The execution time of packages and the IT system load were collected and analyzed. The analysis of the experiment results allows to conclude that the use of the column-oriented data structures made it possible to shorten the time of executing the functions analyzing the energy consumption by the electric vehicle’s drive system. Depending on the type of the analyzed characteristics of the vehicle and its method of representation in the database, a significant reduction of the analysis time compared to the relational structure was obtained. Also, a decrease in the load on the computer system during data processing on the column-oriented structures was noted. The use of the column-oriented databases in the processing and analysis of measurement operational characteristics of electric vehicles is justified and it can bring measurable effects. It should be considered that the effectiveness of solving depends on the number of the analyzed characteristics and the format of their representation in the computer.

Transport in cities plays a crucial role in the lives of inhabitants. Development of cities affects the functional aspects of the network include the emergence of new areas of traffic generators. Unsuited infrastructure causes many negative effects that outraged the standard of living in cities. In this paper the concept of Park and Ride was presented as a way to cope with the growing volume of traffic. Full procedure for estimating the contribution of different modes of transport including the Park and Ride was presented. Additionally, an important part of the article is devoted to a description of full Delphic approach, applied for membership function (MF) shape definition of chosen function, estimating linguistic variable.

This study demonstrates possibility of simulation software application to modeling level of CO2 emission as a result of different land use development scenarios as well as different level of private and public transport investments in the city. Application of simulation software Visum and four stage approach for transportation model of Krakow agglomeration gives detailed information about influence of different policy directions onto CO2 emission in the city. This paper is focused rather on estimation of the vehicle kilometer travelled (VKT) then on modeling emission procedure and shows effects of different assumptions in planned transportation policy on emission level.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki analiz symulacyjnych mających na celu sprawdzenie, jak zmiany w zagospodarowaniu przestrzennym wpłyną na poziom emisji dwutlenku węgla. Wykorzystano tutaj model symulacyjny aglomeracji krakowskiej wraz z prognozami. Modele prognostyczne zostały sporządzone dla trzech scenariuszy rozwoju miasta, parametryzowane przez różne rozmieszczenie zmiennych objaśniających model potencjałów ruchotwórczych (dane demograficzne, liczba miejsc pracy itp.). Dla każdego ze scenariuszy wyznaczono pracę przewozową, a następnie oszacowano poziom emisji CO2. W drugiej części referatu przedstawiono wpływ różnych wariantów rozwoju systemu transportu na pracę przewozową i w efekcie na poziom emisji CO2 . W analizach uwzględniono pełne ujęcie czterostadiowe ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem podziału zadań przewozowych (zastosowano tutaj model potęgowy, kalibrowany przy wykorzystaniu układu wnioskowania rozmytego).

Transport systems, especially transport means operated by them, generate different types of threats: peoples' health and life threat and natural environment degradation threat. Operating factors affecting elements of technical objects cause negative value changes of these elements resulting in their failure. These factors include those which result from improper behavior of people and those connected with the environmental impact affecting the technical object. Failure is a circumstance which significantly decreases the vehicle reliability and efficiency. In this study, a failure is referred to as exceeding permitted boundary values by significant features of the technical object. On the basis of performed practical tests concerning times of a failure occurrence it was found that the set of failures can be divided into subsets of primary and secondary ones. Tests results revealed that the cause of occurrence of secondary failures are usually incorrect performance of primary repairs. Primary repairs are independent on each other and occur randomly. Secondary failures, in turn, are related to each other and their occurrence is conditioned by an earlier occurrence of a primary failure and the effect of its improper repair or a repair of a successive secondary one. Therefore, assurance of high efficiency of repairs performed on the transport means is of great importance as this affects the level of reliability, safety and efficiency of transport tasks.
Systemy transportowe, a w szczególności środki transportu w nich eksploatowane, są źródłem różnego rodzaju zagrożeń: życia i zdrowia ludzi oraz degradacji środowiska naturalnego. Czynniki eksploatacyjne oddziałujące na elementy obiektów technicznych wywołują niekorzystne zmiany wartości istotnych cech elementów powodując ich uszkodzenia. Wśród czynników wymuszających można wyróżnićczynniki wynikające z niewłaściwego działania człowieka oraz wynikające z oddziaływań otoczenia na obiekty techniczne. Uszkodzenia są zdarzeniami, które mają istotny wpływ na obniżanie niezawodności i efektywności działania pojazdów. W opracowaniu, uszkodzenie zdefiniowano, jako przekroczenie dopuszczalnych wartości granicznych przez istotne cechy opisujące obiekt techniczny. Na podstawie zrealizowanych badań eksploatacyjnych, dotyczących chwil wystąpienia uszkodzeń stwierdzono, że zbiór uszkodzeń można podzielić na podzbiory uszkodzeń pierwotnych oraz wtórnych. Wyniki badań wykazały, że przyczyną powstawania uszkodzeń wtórnych są, z reguły, niewłaściwie realizowane naprawy uszkodzeń pierwotnych. Uszkodzenia pierwotne są niezależne od siebie i występują w sposób losowy. Uszkodzenia wtórne natomiast są zależne od siebie, ponieważ ich występowanie jest uwarunkowane wcześniejszym wystąpieniem uszkodzenia pierwotnego i skutkiem niewłaściwej jego naprawy lub niewłaściwej naprawy kolejnego uszkodzenia wtórnego. W związku z tym, istotnym problemem jest zapewnienie wysokiej skuteczności realizowanych napraw środków transportu, które wpływają na poziom niezawodności, bezpieczeństwa oraz efektywności realizowanych przewozów transportowych. W niniejszym opracowaniu przedstawiono badania eksploatacyjne oraz symulacyjne wpływu eliminowania uszkodzeń wtórnych eksploatowanych środków transportowych, na efektywność i niezawodnośćdziałania badanego systemu transportowego.

Personal Rapid Transit control system is exploited in diverse electromagnetic enlivenments. The unintentional or intentional electromagnetic disturbances on a vast railway area can disturb operation of PRT control system. The security systems are responsible for security of humans and goods transpiration and therefore their disturbance can threaten life or health their disturbance can threaten life or health of people exploitation decisions in the reference to these systems. The paper presents the ways of minimization of the influence of electromagnetic disturbances on PRT control system.
System Personal Rapid Transit eksploatowany jest w różnych warunkach otaczającego go środowiska elektromagnetycznego. Występujące na rozległym obszarze "kolejowym" zaburzenia elektromagnetyczne zamierzone lub niezamierzone (stacjonarne lub ruchome) mogą być przyczyną zakłócenia systemu sterowania PRT. System sterowania odpowiada za bezpieczeństwo transportu PRT - proces przemieszczania ludzi i/lub ładunków. Zakłócenie podstawowych funkcji systemu sterowania może być przyczyną wystąpienia zagrożeń życia i zdrowia ludzi. Niniejszy artykuł omawia sposoby minimalizacji wpływu zakłóceń elektromagnetycznych na system sterowania PRT.

The increase in the use of sea water is the basis for the development of the existing security systems in given areas. Monitoring the navigational situation in a given water area is one of the most important tasks aimed at ensuring the necessary level of safety in maritime traffic. Marine surveillance systems at sea are used for this purpose. As an interesting approach related to the study of the movement of vessels, this paper proposes a method based on the measurement of physical field disturbances generated by objects moving in the sea water. These disturbances can be referred to the upper (air space) and lower (underwater) hemisphere. In the upper hemisphere the motion of the object generates disturbances of the thermal field while in the lower hemisphere disturbances of the acoustic, hydrodynamic, magnetic, electric and seismic fields are generated. Detection of the floating objects and determination of movement parameters is realized mainly by active systems. There are radiolocation systems in the upper hemisphere (radar systems) and echo ranging systems in the lower hemisphere (sonars and echosounders). Monitoring of the upper hemisphere of sea vessels traffic is conducted in a comprehensive manner. The lower hemisphere is in the most cases omitted. Therefore, it is recommended to develop underwater observation systems as a source of additional information about floating objects and thus complement the existing systems used in navigation. However, at present, de spite the technological progress, there is a noticeable lack of the comprehensive solutions in the area of monitoring the vessels movement in the underwater space. Therefore, appropriate action should be taken to recognize this technology gap and increasing the safety of vessel traffic. The aim of the article was to present a fully passive, mobile underwater observation system that uses a number of sensors to monitor the underwater environment parameters, the research methodology and analysis of the obtained results. The method of deploying the measurement system at the selected geographical position and the measurement method are described. Based on obtained results, the analysis of sound pressure disturbances caused by passing ships was performed. A feature extraction method was developed to identify a passing vessel based on low frequency signal parameters.

The paper is a result of a research work concerning the development of an environmentally friendly transport system - Project EMITRANSYS. The publication contains the issues of shaping the transport system, where important factor due to the aspect of sustainable development is including the external costs in transport activity. This paper presents a mathematical model of the distribution of the traffic flow in the transport network. The paper presents selected aspects of the problem of multi-variant distribution of the traffic stream on the network transport for defined scenarios for the transport system development. Traffic distribution on the network has been made due to the criterion function – external cost connected with air pollution. The paper presents modal split of traffic ecological flow for chosen scenarios of the development domestic transport system.

This paper deals with the problem of selection the most suitable trip-modelling tool (TMT), which is a part of the more complex integrated transport planning system (ITPS) at the regional scale. Since an application of TMT is not autonomous and several different users exist the selection problem is not a trivial. In this paper, an original five-phase selection procedure is presented. The first phase consists in specification of both, detailed expectations of all identified users and technical requirements of ITPS. Second phase deals with research on available TMT while a third one is concentrated on defining a comprehensive set of criteria. In this phase critical criteria as well as selection criteria are defined. First one is utilised to eliminate unacceptable TMTs in phase four and second one to evaluate and select most adequate TMT in phase five. In the paper an exemplary application of this procedure is presented. The authors have defined 2 critical criteria and a set of 19 selection criteria. The last one is divided into 3 main subsets, i.e. functional, technical and financial contexts of selection process. All the selection criteria are characterised by 43 sub-criteria and some of them are more detailed extended. Using this procedure 3 out of 6 alternative TMTs including Emme, Aimsun and Visum have been initially accepted and next evaluated. Finally, Visum has been selected and recommended for application into ITPS.
